Let A be a semi-abelian variety over , Γ a subgroup of of finite rank and X a subvariety of A which is not a translate of a semi-abelian subvariety of A. Work by P. Vojta and M. McQuillan shows that is not dense in X. B. Poonen has then conjectured that the same remains true if Γ is replaced by a fattening for a certain ε>0 where h is a canonical height. B. Poonen and S. Zhang have shown independently this to hold when A is almost split. On the other hand, the statement contains the Bogomolov property (with Γ=0) now proven by S. David and P. Philippon. In this paper, we prove Poonen's conjecture for any A. We also consider the slightly more general sets instead of Γε. We use the case Γ=0 as well as a generalized Vojta inequality.  相似文献

We prove that a real symmetric polynomial inequality of degree d?2 holds on if and only if it holds for elements with at most ⌊d/2⌋ distinct non-zero components, which may have multiplicities. We establish this result by solving a Cauchy problem for ordinary differential equations involving the symmetric power sums; this implies the existence of a special kind of paths in the minimizer of some restriction of the considered polynomial function. In the final section, extensions of our results to the whole space are outlined. The main results are Theorems 5.1 and 5.2 with Corollaries 2.1 and 5.2, and the corresponding results for from the last subsection. Part II will contain a discussion on the ordered vector space in general, as well as on the particular cases of degrees d=4 and d=5 (finite test sets for positivity in the homogeneous case and other sufficient criteria).  相似文献

Let and be standard operator algebras on infinite dimensional complex Banach spaces X and Y, respectively, and let Φ be a unital additive surjection from  onto . We introduce thirteen parts of the spectrum for elements in  and , and prove that if Φ preserves any one of these parts of the spectrum, then it is either an isomorphism or an anti-isomorphism.  相似文献

We study , of all such that for every ?C0, where denotes the twisted convolution. We prove that certain boundedness for are completely determined of the behaviour for a at origin, for example that , and that if a(0)<∞, then aL2L. We use the results in order to determine wether positive pseudo-differential operators belong to certain Schatten-casses or not.  相似文献

Starting from a selfadjoint Schrödinger operator A=−d2/dx2+q with a gap G in its spectrum F. Gesztesy, B. Simon, G. Teschl [J. Analyse Math. 70 (1996) 267-324] succeed in constructing another Schrödinger operator that is unitarily equivalent (and thus isospectral) to A. As the means they apply come from the Weyl-Titchmarsh theory the connections prove to be intricate, in particular the relation between A and . We show that a central assertion in GST's paper rests substantially on factorizations of the form

We find existence of a nonnegative compactly supported solution of the problem Δu=uα in , ∂u/∂ν=u on . Moreover, we prove that every nonnegative solution with finite energy is compactly supported and radially symmetric in the tangential variables.  相似文献

We equip the polytope of n×n Markov matrices with the normalized trace of the Lebesgue measure of Rn2. This probability space provides random Markov matrices, with i.i.d. rows following the Dirichlet distribution of mean (1/n,…,1/n). We show that if is such a random matrix, then the empirical distribution built from the singular values of tends as n to a Wigner quarter-circle distribution. Some computer simulations reveal striking asymptotic spectral properties of such random matrices, still waiting for a rigorous mathematical analysis. In particular, we believe that with probability one, the empirical distribution of the complex spectrum of tends as n to the uniform distribution on the unit disc of the complex plane, and that moreover, the spectral gap of is of order when n is large.  相似文献

In this paper, we study rings with the annihilator condition (a.c.) and rings whose space of minimal prime ideals, , is compact. We begin by extending the definition of (a.c.) to noncommutative rings. We then show that several extensions over semiprime rings have (a.c.). Moreover, we investigate the annihilator condition under the formation of matrix rings and classical quotient rings. Finally, we prove that if R is a reduced ring then: the classical right quotient ring Q(R) is strongly regular if and only if R has a Property (A) and is compact, if and only if R has (a.c.) and is compact. This extends several results about commutative rings with (a.c.) to the noncommutative setting.  相似文献

Let be the absolute Galois group of Q and let A=C(G,C) be the Banach algebra of all continuous functions defined on G with values in C. Let be the conjugation automorphism of C and let B be the R-Banach subalgebra of A consisting of continuous functions f such that for all σG. Let ‖x‖=sup{|σ(x)|:σG} be the spectral norm on and let be the spectral completion of . Using a canonical isometry between and B we study the structure of the group of R-algebras automorphisms of and the structure of its subgroup of all automorphisms of which when restricted to give rise to elements of G. We introduce a topology on and prove that this last one is homeomorphic and group isomorphic to G.  相似文献

The Bohl-Bohr-Amerio-Kadets theorem states that the indefinite integral y= of an almost periodic (ap) is again ap if y is bounded and the Banach space X does not contain a subspace isomorphic to c0. This is here generalized in several directions: Instead of it holds also for φ defined only on a half-line , instead of ap functions abstract classes with suitable properties are admissible, can be weakened to φ in some “mean” class , then ; here contains all fL1loc with in for all h>0 (usually strictly); furthermore, instead of boundedness of y mean boundedness, y in some , or in , ergodic functions, suffices. The Loomis-Doss result on the almost periodicity of a bounded Ψ for which all differences Ψ(t+h)−Ψ(t) are ap for h>0 is extended analogously, also to higher order differences. Studying “difference spaces” in this connection, we obtain decompositions of the form: Any bounded measurable function is the sum of a bounded ergodic function and the indefinite integral of a bounded ergodic function. The Bohr-Neugebauer result on the almost periodicity of bounded solutions y of linear differential equations P(D)y=φ of degree m with ap φ is extended similarly for ; then provided, for example, y is in some with U=L or is totally ergodic and, for the half-line, Reλ?0 for all eigenvalues P(λ)=0. Analogous results hold for systems of linear differential equations. Special case: φ bounded and ergodic implies bounded. If all Reλ>0, there exists a unique solution y growing not too fast; this y is in if , for quite general .  相似文献
