从共聚单体的竞聚率、油相水相分布系数出发,通过动力学模拟计算了丙烯酸丁酯与醋酸乙烯酯乳液共聚物的链结构,并用Johnson公式对其玻璃化转变温度(T_g)进行了理论计算,给出了共聚物T_g及其对应聚合物的重量分布图。发现半连续共聚物有1个T_g,其值随共聚物组成而变化;但一步法共聚物有两个T_g:低温区T_g代表富丙烯酸丁酯共聚物,高温区T_g则代表PVA均聚物。计算结果与实验十分吻合。  相似文献

Homogeneous graft copolymerization of methyl methacrylate onto cellulose and cellulose acetate was carried out in various solvents and solvent systems taking ceric ammonium nitrate, tin (II) 2-ethyl hexanoate [Sn(Oct)2] and benzoyl peroxide as initiators. The effect of solvents, initiators, initiator and monomer concentration, on graft yield, grafting efficiency and total conversion of monomer to polymer were studied. Formation of Ce3+ ion during grafting in presence of CAN enhances the grafting efficiency. Methylene blue was used as a homopolymer inhibitor and controlled the molecular weight of the grafted polymer and its effect on grafting was also studied. In presence of MB, amount of PMMA homopolymer formation reduced and consequently grafting efficiency increased. The number average molecular weights and polydispersity indices of the grafted PMMA were found out by gel permeation chromatography. The products were characterized by FTIR and 1H-NMR analyses and possible reaction mechanisms were deduced. Finally, thermal degradation of the grafted products was also studied by thermo-gravimetric and differential thermo-gravimetric analyses.  相似文献

The copolymerization of styrene and styrene–acrylonitrile with polybutadienes of various microstructures was studied and the reactivity ratios determined. It was shown that for the styrene/acrylonitrile/polybutadiene systems the 1,2 structure is twice as reactive as the trans and four times as reactive as the cis. Studies in the temperature range of 50–80°C reveal that the reactivity of the polybutadiene increases as the temperature rises. When styrene is the monomer the reactivity of polybutadiene and the temperature effect is less intense than when styrene–acrylonitrile is used.  相似文献

A mixture of homopolymer and graft copolymer was obtained by adding the monomer at 0°C to the polylithiodiene solution. Styrene, methyl methacrylate, and acrylonitrile were used as the monomers. Polylithiodienes were prepared by the metalation of diene polymers, i.e., polybutadiene or polyisoprene, with the use of n-butyllithium in the presence of a tertiary amine (N,N,N′,N′-tetramethylethylenediamine) in n-heptane. The graft copolymers were separated by solvent extraction and were confirmed by turbidimetric titration and elementary analysis. Oxidation of the polybutadiene–styrene grafts revealed that the molecular weight of the side chains was the same as the molecular weight of the free polystyrene formed. The grafting efficiency and grafting percentage were studied for polybutadiene–styrene graft copolymers prepared under various conditions.  相似文献

ABS resins formed by copolymerization of styrene and acrylonitrile (AN) in presence of polybutadiene, consist of a mixture of SAN graft copolymer on polybutadiene (PBut) and of ungrafted SAN copolymer (styrene-co-acrylonitrile). The kinetic study was completed by showing a preferential solvation of polybutadiene by the initiator. This solvation effect was studied as a function of the concentration ratio SAN/PBut and in relation with the type of initiator. The adsorption of initiator appeared to be maximum when its solubility parameter (σ) is close to that of polybutadiene. As a function of the polybutadiene characteristics, this selective adsorption can be given by where I1 is the quantity of initiator in the polybutadiene medium, I is the total amount of peroxide, [PBut] is the concentration of polybutadiene, and M?n its molecular weight. It has been shown furthermore that the preferential solvation of polybutadiene by the benzoyl peroxide can be increased by addition of SAN or acrylonitrile. The consequences of this solvation effect on the characteristics of the grafting reaction, more precisely on the molecular weight of grafted and ungrafted SAN and on the rate of polymerization, were examined.  相似文献

2,3,4,5,6‐Pentafluorostyrene (PFS) was copolymerized with polybutadiene (PB) in tetrahydrofuran using benzoyl peroxide as the initiator at 50, 60, and 80 °C. The copolymerizations follow typical radical polymerization kinetics and behavior. The grafting parameters were evaluated as a function of monomer conversion, initiator concentration, and/or temperature by gel permeation chromatography of directly injected copolymerization mixtures. The grafting efficiencies and grafting ratios are most consistent with a system that terminates by combination and whose graft sites are generated by hydrogen abstraction of allylic radicals by primary initiator radicals. Pure graft copolymers were isolated by extracting unreacted PB into hexanes and PPFS homopolymer into acetone. The similarity of the glass transition temperatures of the PPFS grafts and the corresponding extracted PPFS homopolymers confirms that their lengths are approximately equal. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Two oxetane-derived monomers, 3-(2-cyano-ethoxy)methyl- and 3-(methoxy-(triethylenoxy))methyl-3'-methyloxetane (COX and MTOX), were prepared from 3-hydroxymethyl-3'-methyloxetane. Their homo- and co-polymerization in solution were carried out by the cationic ring-opening polymerization with BF3·Et2O and 1,4-butanediol as co-initiator. The molecular weight and molecular weight distribution were determined using GPC so as to reveal the competition and interchange between active chain end (ACE) and activated monomer (AM) mechanism in the process. The reactivity ratios of the two monomers were calculated according to Kelen-Tudos using 1H-NMR analysis. The influence of functional side chains in the monomers on the copolymerization behaviors was discussed in virtue of the reactivity ratio data. When doped with lithium salt LiTFSI, the ion conductivity of the homopolymer of MTOX reached 10-3.58 S/cm at 30℃and 10-2.73 S/sm at 80℃, respectively, showing its potential to be used as polymer electrolyte for lithium ion battery.  相似文献

采用膨胀计法研究了以过硫酸铵为引发剂,二乙基二烯丙基氯化铵(DEDAAC)在水溶液中的均聚及其与丙烯酰胺(AM)和丙烯酸(AA)共聚动力学,测定了相应的聚合表观活化能;采用元素分析法测定了DEDAAC分别与AM和AA在低转化率下共聚物的组成,并采用氯离子选择性电极法测定了DEDAAC-AM共聚物中的氯离子含量,按Kelen-Tudos方法求得了相应的竞聚率.结果表明,DEDAAC均聚速率方程为RP=k[M]0.99[I]0.76,表观活化能Ea=77.00kJ/mol,说明链终止为单基终止和双基终止并存,引发过程与单体浓度无关;DEDAAC与AM在摩尔比为4∶1时,共聚动力学方程为RP=[M]2.53[I]0.90,表观活化能Ea=67.06kJ/mol,单体竞聚率为rDE=0.31±0.02、rAM=5.27±0.53;DEDAAC与AA在摩尔比为4∶1时,共聚动力学方程为RP=k[M]2.94[I]0.83,表观活化能Ea=70.07kJ/mol,竞聚率为rDE=0.28±0.03、rAA=5.15±0.28;DEDAAC与AM和AA等共聚为非理想共聚,得到的产物均为无规共聚物.  相似文献

The kinetics of melt grafting acrylic acid(AA)onto linear low density polyethylene(LLDPE)by using reactive extrusion was investigated.The polymeric peroxides(POOP and POOH)generated by electron beam irradiation were used to initiate the graft reaction.The samples taken out from the barrel at five ports along screw axis were analyzed by FTIR.The spectra show that both the graft copolymerization and homopolymerization proceed in two stages:the graft degree(or mass of homopolymer)increases linearly with the reaction time in the initial stage,and then gradually in the second stage.The rate of graft copolymerization R_g is always faster than that of homopolymerization R_h in the present system and the activation energy is 131 kJ·mol~(-1) for graft copolymerization and 127 kJ·mol~(-1) for homopolymeirzation.These results were interpreted in terms of solubility and diffusion of monomer,as well as the reactivity and the concentration of reactive species. The relationships between reaction rate and monomer concentration and peroxide concentration were found to he:R_g ∝ [M]~(1.46)[POOP+POOH]~(0.53) and R_h ∝[M]~(1.08)[POOH]~(0.51),which indicate that the addition of monomer to polymeric radicals is a slow step for the graft copolymerization.  相似文献

The copolymerization of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) macromer with butyl acrylate in benzene was studied. the PMMA macromer was obtained by radical polymerization in the presence of thioglycollic acid as a chain transfer agent, followed by termination with glycidyl methacrylate. the copolymerization rate and effects of various copolymerization conditions, such as molecular weight of macromer, charging ratio of macromer to monomer, amount of initiator, kind of solvent, concentration, and copolymerization temperature, on grafting efficiency and molecular weight of copolymer were investigated. the copolymers were purified by fractional precipitation. the purified copolymers with uniform PMMA grafts were characterized by GPC, IR, UV, and DSC. Structural parameters of the copolymers were determined by VPO and membrane osmometry. Average grafting number per chain decreases with an increase of conversion. Measurement of mechanical properties of the copolymers shows that both molecular weight and the content of the macromer affect mechanical properties of the copolymer, and within a certain range they behave like a thermoplastic elastomer.  相似文献

Copolymerization of acrylonitrile with styrene spontaneously occurred on addition of zinc chloride without addition of any other radical initiator. The composition of the copolymer approached that of strictly alternating copolymer as zinc chloride added to the copolymerization system increased. The significance of the apparent monomer reactivity ratios of this copolymerization system was studied from a kinetic point of view, and it was shown that the monomer sequence distribution is indicated by the apparent monomer reactivity ratios. Further, equations which represent the relation between the apparent monomer reactivity ratios and Q,e values at a given salt concentration were derived. These equations reasonably accounted for the decrease of the apparent monomer reactivity ratios of the copolymerization of acrylonitrile with styrene in the presence of zinc chloride and the behavior of the other acrylonitrile copolymerization systems in the presence of zinc chloride. The initiation step of the spontaneous radical copolymerization of acrylonitrile with styrene in the presence of zinc chloride was explained by a cross-initiation mechanism.  相似文献

Cerium(IV) mediated grafting of polyacrylonitrile on to guar gum was studied. Grafting parameters were studied gravimetrically, as a function of temperature, initiator concentration and Guar to acrylonitrile ratio. Higher temperatures resulted in higher monomer conversion and homopolymer formation. Both monomer conversion and extent of grafting increased with increase in cerium ion concentration in the range studied (0.91–9.12 mmol/l). Similar results were obtained with increase in monomer to guar gum ratio from 1 to 5. Grafting with this initiator was found to be generally good with high grafting efficiencies and low homopolymer formation for most experiments. The copolymers obtained were subjected to alkaline hydrolysis to convert nitrile groups in to carboxylic acid groups and the water absorbency of the resulting anionic guar gum was studied. ABSTRACT

To evaluate the existence of the depropagation reaction in the copolymerization of vinyl monomers, the cationic copolymerization of α-methylstyrene with styrene was studied. The copolymer composition exhibited an extensive dependency on the temperature of polymerization and the monomer concentration, this fact not being explained by the Mayo-Lewis equation. Treatment of the copolymerization in terms of the depropagation reaction led to an estimate of the monomer reactivity ratio and the equilibrium constant between the polymer and the monomer of α-methylstyrene. A comparison of the equilibrium constants thus obtained with those reported in the literature indicates that the magnitude of the equilibrium constants depends on the sequence length of α-methylstyrene units. By extrapolation to long sequence length, the equilibrium constants approach the values which are reported for high molecular weight poly(α-methylstyrene).  相似文献

The effect of amount of monomer on radiation-induced polymerization of styrene adsorbed on silica gel was investigated with the monomer amounting from less than monolayer adsorption to more than the equilibrium adsorption. The rate of graft polymerization and the molecular weight of the polymer changed with the amount of monomer adsorbed on silica gel. Maximum grafting efficiency was obtained at monolayer adsorption. The molecular weight of graft polymer was higher than that of homopolymer in both radical and cationic polymerizations, and the ratio in molecular weight of graft polymer to that of homopolymer tends to be unity with increasing amount of adsorbed monomer. These results can mainly be explained in terms of the number of initiating species (radical and cation) that change in relation to the amount of adsorbed monomer. Propagation and termination change with amount of adsorbed monomer in relation to the molecular mobility of adsorbed monomer. A very high-molecular-weight graft polymer is formed only with a small amount of adsorbed monomer in the initial stage. The grafting percent with a large amount of adsorbed monomer increased after most of the monomer has been polymerized. Secondary effect of radiation on the graft and homopolymers due to energy transfer from silica gel is suggested from the complicated phenomena in the later stage of the reaction.  相似文献

In the present work, a series of novel random polybenzimidazole (PBI) copolymers consisting of m- and p-phenylene linkages are synthesized from various stoichiometric mixtures of isophthalic acid (IPA) and terephthalic acid (TPA) with 3,3',4,4'-tetraaminobiphenyl (TAB) by solution copolycondensation in polyphosphoric acid (PPA). The resulting copolymers are characterized by different techniques to obtain their molecular properties parameters. The monomer concentration in the polymerization plays an important role in controlling the molecular weight of the polymer. Surprisingly, a simple change in the dicarboxylic acid architecture from meta (IPA) to para (TPA) increases the molecular weight of the copolymers, which is maximum for the para homopolymer. The low solubility of TPA in PPA is found to be the dominating factor for obtaining the higher molecular weight polymer in the case of the para structure. FT-IR study shows that the introduction of the para structure enhances the conjugation along the polymer chain. The positive deviation of the copolymer composition from the feed ratio is due to the higher reactivity ratio of TPA than IPA, which is obtained from proton NMR studies. The incorporation of the para structure in the chain enhances the thermal stability of the polymers. The para homopolymer shows 59 degrees C lower glass transition temperature compare to the meta homopolymer indicating enhancement of the flexibility of the polymer chain due the introduction of the p-phenylene linkage in the backbone. The T(g) of the copolymers shows both positive and negative deviation from the expected T(g) calculated by the Fox equation. The enhanced conjugation of the polymer chains also influences the photophysical properties of the polymers in solution. All the PBI polymers exhibit strong fluorescence in dimethylacetamide solution. As expected, that all the polymers are amorphous in nature reveals that the copolymerization does not influence the packing characteristics of the PBI chains.  相似文献

Well‐defined, core‐shell poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)/casein nanoparticles, ranging from 80 to 130 nm in diameter, were prepared via a direct graft copolymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) from casein. The polymerization was induced by a small amount of alkyl hydroperoxide (ROOH) in water at 80 °C. Free radicals on the amino groups of casein and alkoxy radicals were generated concurrently, which initiated the graft copolymerization and homopolymerization of MMA, respectively. The presence of casein micelles promoted the emulsion polymerization of the monomer and provided particle stability. The conversion and grafting efficiency of the monomer strongly depended on the type of radical initiator, ROOH concentration, casein to MMA ratio, and reaction temperature. The graft copolymers and homopolymer of PMMA were isolated and characterized with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry. The molecular weight determination of both the grafted and homopolymer of PMMA suggested that the graft copolymerization and homopolymerization of MMA proceeded at a similar rate. The transmission electron microscopic image of the nanoparticles clearly showed a well‐defined core‐shell morphology, where PMMA cores were coated with casein shells. The casein shells were further confirmed with a zeta‐potential measurement. Finally, this synthetic method allowed us to prepare PMMA/casein nanoparticles with a solid content of up to 31%. Graft copolymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) onto Himachali wool fiber has been investigated in aqueous medium by using γ irradiation from a 2100 Ci60CO source as means of initiation. Graft copolymerization was carried out by the mutual method in nitrogen atmosphere as well as in air. Effect of mineral acids and acetic acid on percentage of grafting was studied. Percentage of grafting was determined as functions of total dose, concentration of monomer, and concentration of acids. Maximum percentage of grafting in the presence of acids occurred in nitrogen atmosphere at a total dose of 1.05 MR. All the acids were found to influence grafting and the reactivity of different acids towards graft copolymerization was found to follow the order: H2SO4 > HCl > HNO3 > HC1O4 > HOAc. An attempt has been made to explain the reactivity order of different acids in the light of the mechanism proposed for γ-irradiation-induced graft copolymerization of vinyl monomer onto wool fiber.  相似文献
