We performed numerical simulation of a random laser in a spherical multiple scattering medium in order to examine the saturation absorption in the excitation process and the resultant increasing process of the gain volume under the random laser action. The size of the gain volume increases with 1/3 power of the excitation pulse energy in the weak excitation region, and then approaches a critical value Lth when the excitation pulse energy is increased above the threshold. The dependence of Lth, as well as the dependence of the threshold excitation pulse energy on the dye concentration, transport mean free path, stimulated emission cross section and excited state lifetime were also examined. These results of the simulation well correspond to the experimental results by a two-beam spatial-correlation method.  相似文献

Bi4Ti3O12 (BTO) and Bi3.25In0.75Ti3O12 (BTO:In) thin films were prepared on fused quartz and LaNiO3/Si (LNO) substrates by chemical solution deposition (CSD). Their microstructures, ferroelectric and optical properties were investigated by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, ferroelectric tester and UV-visible-NIR spectrophotometer, respectively. The optical band-gaps of the films were found to be 3.64 and 3.45 eV for the BTO and BTO:In films, respectively. Optical constants (refractive indexes and extinction coefficients) were determined from the optical transmittance spectra using the envelope method. Following the single electronic oscillator model, the single oscillator energy E0, the dispersion energy Ed, the average interband oscillator wavelength λ0, the average oscillator strength S0, the refractive index dispersion parameter (E0/S0), the chemical bonding quantity β, and the long wavelength refractive index n were obtained and analyzed. Both the refractive index and extinction coefficient of the BTO:In films are smaller than those of the BTO films. Furthermore, the refractive index dispersion parameter (E0/S0) increases and the chemical bonding quantity β decreases in the BTO and BTO:In films compared with those of bulk.  相似文献

The optical and acoustic properties of tellurite glasses in the system TeO2/ZrO2/WO3 have been investigated. The refractive index at different wavelengths and the optical spectra of the glasses have been measured. From the refractive index and absorption edge studies for prepared glasses, the optical parameter viz; optical band gap (Eopt), Urbach energy, (ΔE), dispersion energy, Ed, and the average oscillator energy, E0, have been calculated. Sound velocities were measured by pulse echo technique. From these velocities and densities values, various elastic moduli were calculated. The variations in the refractive index, optical energy gap and elastic moduli with WO3 content have been discussed in terms of the glass structure. Quantitatively, we used the bond compression model for analyzing the room temperature elastic moduli data. By calculating the number of bonds per unit volume, the average stretching force constant, and the average ring size we can extract valuable information about the structure of the present glasses.  相似文献

The Dirac vacuum, polarized by a strong electric field E0, is discussed as nonlinear medium for laser radiation (LR). It is shown that such a medium leads to (a) a LR refractive index appearing, (b) LR polarization plane rotation, (c) LR second harmonic generation. The oscillation frequency shift ratio (OFSR) of a three-cavity coupled laser diode, which is caused by refractive index changes due to current modulation and temperature variation, has been investigated. It is found that the OFSR is significantly reduced by using a laser with an AR coated facet and a high external-mirror reflectivity, in addition to large external cavity lengths. Also, compared with an external cavity laser, the three-cavity laser has a smaller OFSR provided that the external cavities' reflectivities r0 and r3, are not identical (that is, r3 > r0). The analysis indicates that the structural parameters affect the OFSR of the three-cavity laser, which was shown to have a high longitudinal mode discrimination1.  相似文献

Thin (AsSe)100−xAgx films have been grown onto quartz substrates by vacuum thermal evaporation or pulsed laser deposition from the corresponding bulk materials. The amorphous character of the coatings was confirmed by X-ray diffraction investigations. Their transmission was measured within the wavelength range 400-2500 nm and the obtained spectra were analyzed by the Swanepoel method to derive the optical band gap Eg and the refractive index n. We found that both parameters are strongly influenced by the addition of silver to the glassy matrix: Eg decreases while n increases with Ag content. These variations are discussed in terms of the changes in the atomic and electronic structure of the materials as a result of silver incorporation.  相似文献

Modern laser light scattering equipment can cover a very broad particle size range by using complex algorithms, such as the Mie theory. A disadvantage of this theory, however, is that it requires the knowledge of the refractive index of the particles, which is not straightforward for powdered organic substances. In this study, thiram, a common dithiocarbamate fungicide, was used as a model compound. In a first part, a method was elaborated to determine the refractive index, based on refractive index measurements of solutions of the compound of interest in a range of solvents. Two different extrapolation techniques were compared. Both techniques were validated by applying them to the determination of the refractive indices of poly(vinyl acetate) and poly(methyl methacrylate). Secondly, the influence of the refractive index value on the generated particle size distribution in the laser diffraction software was investigated. It was observed that widely different particle size distributions can be generated by the laser diffraction software for a single experimental data‐set. Therefore, accurate refractive index information is required to obtain reliable particle size distribution results.  相似文献

This work is devoted to study the thermo-optical properties of three important pure polar dielectric laser dye solvents (aniline, pyridine and ethyl ether). Experimental measurements of the refractive index n and its thermo-optic coefficient dn/dT are carried out using dual laser Mach–Zehnder interferometric technique. The determined values of n and dn/dT are used to extract new data concerning the mentioned laser dye solvents. Applying the empirical relationship of Cauchy between the refractive index and the wavelength, the optical dispersion dn/ and dn/dT, as a function of wavelength are calculated and represented. Additionally, Cauchy's constants as a function of temperature has been calculated and a comparison between the studied solvents are considered.  相似文献

The (nth, α) (nth, p) and (nth, γα) reactions spectroscopical data are reported on 40K and 143Nd. For 40K, values of σα = 0.39 ± 0.08 b, σp = 4.4 ± 0.9 b, σγα = 26 ± 4 mb are obtained and accurate measurements of Eα0 = 3491.7 ± 7 keV and Epo = 2232.9 ± 3 keV have been performed, α1, and p1 transitions and the 40K(nth, γp) reaction have not been observed. The 40K(nth, γα)37Cl and 143Nd(nth, γα)140Ce spectra are presented. The multipolarity of the primary low energy γ-rays is deduced from the γ-α spectra.  相似文献

Pure perovskite phase and crack-free KTa0.5Nb0.5O3 thin films were prepared on Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si substrates by pulsed laser deposition. The structure and orientation were analyzed by X-ray diffraction. The optical properties were investigated by an ellipsometer. The relationship between the refractive index dispersive behavior and internal structure was analyzed by Sellmeier dispersion model and single electronic oscillator approximation. The parameters of room temperature monomial Sellmeier oscillator were calculated. And the refractive index dispersive parameter E0/S0 of KTa0.5Nb0.5O3 thin films on Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si substrates is (6.72 ± 0.04) × 10−14 eV m2, which is consistent with those of KTN crystals and compounds with ABO3 perovskite type structure.  相似文献

In this study, Titanium (IV) Oxide (TiO2) film has been prepared and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The XRD pattern of TiO2 film of anatase phase exhibit very sharp peaks at 25° and 47.85°. According to Scherrer??s formula the grain size of anatase (101) phase TiO2 nananoparticle is 38.5 nm. The optical properties and constants of TiO2 film of thickness (4 ??m) have been investigated at room temperature. The transmittance, reflectance and absorbance spectra are measured in the wavelength range (340?C900 nm). Optical constants of TiO2 film are derived from the transmission spectra and the refractive index dispersion of the film. The oscillator energy, E 0 dispersion energy, E d , the static refractive index, n 0, and other parameters have been determined by the single oscillator Wemple-DiDomenico method. This film can be used in the form of thin film in dye-sensitized solar cells.  相似文献

本文利用Mie散射理论对中红外波段三种不同类型散射体的散射和消光进行了研究,发现基质在三种不同类型散射体的散射和消光中所起作用完全不同。对于无吸收的高折射率散射体,基质折射率越大面积散射比(或面积消光比)越低;对于反常色散散射体,基质折射率越大面积散射比和面积肖光比越高;而对于金属散射体,基质折射率的大小对于散射和消光影响极小。  相似文献

Thin films of SnO2 were deposited by RF-magnetron sputtering on quartz substrates at room temperature in an environment of Ar and O2. The XRD pattern shows amorphous nature of the as-deposited films. The optical properties were studied using the reflectance and transmittance spectra. The estimated optical band gap (Eg) values increase from 4.15 to 4.3 eV as the Ar gas content decreases in the process gas environment. The refractive index exhibits an oscillatory behavior that is strongly dependent on the sputtering gas environment. The Urbach energy is found to decrease with increase in band gap. The band gap is found to decrease on annealing the film. The role of oxygen defects is explored in explaining the variation of optical parameters.  相似文献

The maximum value of the light extinction coefficient μ, which can be observed in a dispersive medium with a relative refractive index n of the scattering particles, is studied within the framework of a quasi-crystalline approximation for nonabsorbing dispersive media consisting of monodisperse spherical scatterers. A change in the diffraction parameter x of the scattering particles and their volume concentration c v is accompanied by nonmonotonic variations of the extinction coefficient, and the function μ(x, c v ) exhibits several maxima. The dimensions and concentrations of particles are determined, for which the extinction coefficient reaches the absolute maximum μmax. The μmax value exhibits a monotonic growth with increasing relative refractive index n of the scattering particles. The conditions of validity of the Ioffe-Regel criterion of radiation localization have been studied. It is established that the localization in nonabsorbing dispersive media can be observed only for n ? 2.7. The intervals of x and c v in which the criterion of radiation localization is satisfied in dispersive media consisting of particles with n = 3.0 and 3.5 are determined.  相似文献

The kinetics of photoinduced effects on Ga5Sb10Ge25Se60 thin film exposed to continuous wave laser radiations are studied as a function of exposure time and laser intensity. The transmission and reflection spectra of thin films before and after exposure are investigated. The optical band gap and the refractive index are derived from the above spectra. Generalized Miller's rule and linear refractive index are used to find the nonlinear susceptibility and nonlinear refractive index of the thin films. The studies show a red shift in the band gap with increase in exposure time and laser power which is attributed to the photoinduced darkening in the films.  相似文献

The photosensitivity dynamics in SiO2 glass with a composition similar to that of silica planar lightwave circuit (PLC) devices was investigated as a fundamental study prior to device fabrication. Silica bulk glasses with similar composition to the core layer of PLC devices were prepared with various concentrations of B2O3. The photosensitivity in boron and germanium co-doped amorphous SiO2 yields a refractive index change Δn as high as 10−3 after irradiation with a KrF UV laser beam. The index modulation disappeared after thermal annealing. The result of annealing experiment and UV absorption/Raman spectra revealed that the molar volume change by UV irradiation is responsible for the index variation in the material.  相似文献

Resonant enhancement of the cross section for Raman scattering by TO phonons in GaP at the E0 and E0 + Δ0 gaps has been observed using a continuously tunable pulsed dye laser pumped by a nitrogen laser and a gated photon counting system. The resonance at the spin-orbit split E0 + Δ0 gap is much weaker than that at E0 and has not been observed previously in first-order Raman scattering. The results are in good agreement with theoretical predictions.  相似文献

We describe a Mach–Zehnder interferometer (MZI) method for measuring the refractive index (RI) of polymethyl-methacrylate (PMMA) solution in both acetone and methyl-ethyl-ketone (MEK). The measurements are made as a function of concentration values 4, 8, 12, 16 and 20 g/l at a wavelength of 488 nm with a high degree of accuracy tends to 1.4×10−5. The refractive index increments (RIIs) dn/dc of PMMA in both investigated solvents are determined too. In addition, the RIIs Δn as a function of concentration and the RIIs at zero concentration (dn/dc)c=0 are determined for both solvents accurately. The PMMA solutions in acetone and MEK solvents are chosen for laser light scattering investigations.  相似文献

The present paper reports the effect of Bi addition on the optical behavior (optical band gap and refractive index) of Ge20Te80?x Bi x (where x=0, 1.5, 2.5, 5.0) glassy alloys by analyzing the transmission and reflection spectra of their thin films in the 900–2400 nm range. Films are deposited on glass substrate using a thermal evaporation technique under vacuum. Various optical parameters viz. refractive index, extinction coefficient, absorption coefficient, optical band gap, etc. are determined and the effect of Bi incorporation on these parameters is studied. The refractive index has been found to increase with increasing Bi content over the entire spectral range and this behavior is due to the increased polarizability of the larger Bi atomic radius (1.46 Å) compared to Te atomic radius (1.36 Å). Dispersion energy, E d , average energy gap, E 0 and static refractive index, n 0 is calculated using Wemple–DiDomenico model. Optical band gap is estimated using Tauc’s extrapolation and is found to decrease from 0.86 to 0.73 eV with the Bi addition. This behavior of the optical band gap is interpreted in terms of the electronegativity difference of the atoms involved and the cohesive energy of the system.  相似文献

This paper reports that the effects of spectral properties of coumarin 337 laser dye have been investigated in different solvents considering solvent parameters like dielectric constant (?) and refractive index (n) of different solvent polarities. The ground state (μg) and excited state (μe) dipole moments are calculated using Lippert's, Bakhshiev's, and Kawski-Chamma-Viallet's equations. In all these three equations the variation of Stokes shift was used to calculate the excited state (μe) dipole moment. It is observed that the Bakhshiev method is comparatively better than the other two methods for ground state and excited state dipole moment calculations. The angle between the excited state and ground state dipole moments is also calculated.  相似文献
