在对周期性结构进行谐波分析的基础上,导出了非截面二维光子晶体排列矩形波导的本征值方程. 基于此方程,可以对该类光子晶体波导的所有可能模式进行分析. 分析认为,非截面二维光子晶体排列矩形波导内能存在的模式包括E(y),TEy,H(y)和TMy模式;改变波导高度,可以实现E(y)模式和H(y)模式与其他模式通带的完全分离. 然而改变任一结构参数,都不能使E(y)和H(y)的各个模式通带,以及E(y)1模式和H(y)1模式的通带完全隔离. 波导单模工作的带宽由E(y)1和E(y)2模式的低端截止频率决定. 关键词: 波导 光子晶体 本征值方程 模式  相似文献

研究了正方晶格和三角晶格空气背景硅介质柱光子晶体线缺陷波导导模左带隙边缘处的亮孤子脉冲传播特性及其慢光延迟特性. 采用平面波展开法仿真分析了波导相邻两行介质柱大小r1和r2以及波导宽度D对孤子脉冲传输所需峰值功率P0和延迟时间Ts的影响,总结了其变化规律. 通过调整波导结构得到了正方晶格和三角晶格优化波导结构,优化后,正方晶格结构波导P0减小了81.17%,Ts增加了66.32%;三角晶格结构波导P0减小了73.7%,Ts增加了67.63%,实现了孤子传输性能的大幅度优化. 关键词: 光子晶体波导 光孤子 峰值功率 延迟时间  相似文献

The transmission of the H 10 wave through a waveguide-capillary cavity in the form of a section of a rectangular waveguide with a square liquid-filled capillary inside is studied theoretically. The capillary passes through the center of the waveguide perpendicularly to its wide walls. The problem is solved by constructing the mirror images of the capillary on the narrow walls of the waveguide with subsequent consideration of the diffraction of the Brillouin components of the H 10 waveguide mode by a periodic “array of capillaries.” It is shown that a resonance minimum in the frequency dependence of the energy coefficient of transmission of the H 10 wave through the waveguide-capillary cavity can be explained by the destructive interference of diffraction harmonics propagating in antiphase. The experimentally found existence of the capillary optimum dimension at which the resonance minimum is the most pronounced is corroborated analytically.  相似文献

The propagation properties of the TE-modes in a high-temperature superconducting circular waveguide using the Mei\ner boundary conditions on the wall are presented for the first time. The results show that now the normalized cutoff parameterk c R, (whereR is the radius of the superconducting circular waveguide andk c the cutoff wavenumber,) is dependent on the radius unlike conventional metallic circular waveguide whose normalized cutoff parameterk c R is a constant for a given mode and the filled dielectrics. Instead of TE11-mode now TE01 mode becomes the dominant mode and the normal component of magnetic field for the dominant mode is not equal to zero on the wall. The carbon‐rich silicon carbide (C‐rich SixC1?x) micro‐ring channel waveguide with asymmetric core aspect is demonstrated for all‐optical cross‐wavelength pulsed return‐to‐zero on‐off keying (PRZ‐OOK) data conversion. Enhanced nonlinear optical Kerr switching enables 12‐Gbit per second data processing with optimized modulation depth. The inverse tapered waveguide at end‐face further enlarges the edge‐coupling efficiency, and the asymmetric channel waveguide distinguishes the polarization modes. To prevent data shape distortion, the bus/ring gap spacing is adjusted to control the quality factor (Q‐factor) of the micro‐ring. Designing the waveguide cross section at 500 × 350 nm2 provides the C‐rich SixC1?x channel waveguide to induce strong transverse electric mode (TE‐mode) confinement with a large Kerr nonlinearity of 2.44 × 10?12 cm2 W?1. Owing to the trade‐off between the Q‐factor and the on/off extinction ratio, the optimized bus/ring gap spacing of 1400 nm is selected to provide a coupling ratio at 5–6% for compromising the modulation depth and the switching throughput. Such a C‐rich SixC1?x micro‐ring with asymmetric channel waveguide greatly enhances the cross‐wavelength data conversion efficiency to favor its on‐chip all‐optical data processing applications for future optoelectronic interconnect circuits.  相似文献

The field distribution and propagation constant are solved for a multilayer waveguide structure including a non-linear layer. Jacobian elliptic functions are found suitable as the non-linear solutions, because they lead to a numerical solution for a large variety of parameters, covering the range of non-linearity from zero to about the largest values found in any material. SiO x N y was chosen for the waveguide material and the organic conjugated polymers and liquid crystal MBBA for the overlayer. The effect of various waveguide parameters is studied and the potential applications are discussed.  相似文献

A modified dispersion relation of a gyro-TWT using a cylindrical waveguide excited in aT E mn -mode is derived incorporating the effect of the transverse space charge forces. The relation is subsequently studied considering the circuit losses and interpreted for the conventional TWT-type gain equation. The second harmonic operation using theT E 02 cylindrical waveguide mode resonated with the second beam-harmonic mode is found to be more sensitive to the Pierce's loss and space-charge parameters for a gyro-TWT than the fundamental operation using theT E 01 cylindrical waveguide mode resonated with the first beam-harmonic mode. It is established that these parameters substantially influence the device gain and must be considered for the prediction of its accurate value. Furthermore, these parameters when properly controlled can also improve the device bandwidth.  相似文献

We report on the fabrication and characterization of planar and channel waveguides in KTiOPO4 crystals by 6.0 MeV C3+ ion implantation with the dose of 1×1014 ions/cm2. The dark mode spectroscopy of the planar waveguide was measured using a prism coupling arrangement. An increase of the both n x and n y refractive indices induced by the annealing after implantation is believed to be responsible for waveguide formation. The bright near-field intensity distribution of the transverse-electric and transverse-magnetic modes in the annealed channel waveguide was collected and studied by end-coupling method.  相似文献

A relation is established between the transport current flowing through the entire S 1 IS 2 WS 3 layered structure and the velocity of a fast vortex. The fast vortex exists when the Swihart velocity in the waveguide is significantly higher than that in the Josephson junction. It is demonstrated that the main contribution to the Lorentz force that induces the vortex motion is due to the current flowing through the waveguide and skin layers of the adjacent superconductors.

Backward waves in waveguides completely filled with magnetoactive plasma (gaseous or semiconductor plasma) have been investigated numerically. It is shown that two types of backward waves exist in such waveguides: cyclotron backward waves and waveguide HE-modes. While the cyclotron modes are backward waves at arbitrary system parameters (plasma density, magnetic field and waveguide radius), the waveguide backward waves appear only at certain values of there parameters. In addition the cyclotron backward waves can propagate at arbitrary wave-number kz and at arbitrary phase velocity. The backward waveguide modes exist only at limited values of kz and of phase velocities.  相似文献

When neglecting space harmonics and higher-order slot modes, the attenuation characteristic of corrugated circular groove waveguide has been investigated. It is shown that under certain conditions, the attenuation coefficient of HE 11 mode will be lower than that of dominant TE (1) 11 mode of circular groove waveguide with same radius.  相似文献

The excitation efficency of the TEM01q oscillation of an two-mirror hemispherical open resonator (OR) is studied. The resonator is excited by the TE01 wave of a circular waveguide joined in the middle of the OR plane mirror. Given the waveguide optimum size, the TEM01q mode excitation efficiency reaches 78%. Analysis of the resonant system spectrum in the 4-mm wave region shows that this waveguide-OR system offers a single mode resonance curve across almost a 10-GHz tuning range. The TEM0110 mode field distribution with and without the circular waveguide in the middle of the OR plane mirror is available due to the small scatterer method. It is shown that the considered open system is suitable for measuring electromagnetic characteristics of high-loss substances and metamaterials in the short-wave end of the millimeter (mm) region as well as in the submillimeter (submm) wave region.  相似文献

We propose to couple two coaxial waveguides by 2D periodic perforation in the common wall in order to ensure selective coupling between two waves propagating in these waveguides. In the experiment at a frequency of 10 GHz, the H 01 mode of the internal waveguide was converted to the rotating H 51 mode of the external waveguide with a power loss of several percent.  相似文献

Evanescent field optical sensors are accurately designed for hydrocarbon monitoring in water. Various kinds of waveguide sensors are optimized by considering a polydimethylsiloxane polymeric overlay as sensor region. The simulation results suggest that the selection of a suitable waveguide cross section can enhance the sensor performance. In particular, the hollow waveguide sensor exhibits very intriguing performance, the absorbance being quite linear with respect to the contaminant concentration. For the toluene pollution the absorbance exhibits a slope STEA = 2.52 ×10-2 ppm-1{S_{\rm TE}^{A} =2.52 \times 10^{-2}\,{\rm ppm}^{-1}} for a waveguide reference length L = 1.18 mm. In order to simultaneously detect different pollutants in water such as toluene, benzene, chlorobenzene and ethilbenzene, an array of four miniaturized hollow waveguide sensors is designed.  相似文献

The RF matching problem in the input circuit of the mm-wavelength whisker contacted Schottky diode mixer is studied. The experimental results, obtained on the 3mm wavelength mixer mounts in the broad band of frequencies from 80 to 115 GHz are presented. It is shown that advantage in the receiver noise temperature may be realized by the use of a full-height instead of 1/4-reduced-height waveguide because of reduction loss in the mixer input circuit even beginning from the 3mm-wavelength. With a full-height waveguide mixer the double sideband (DSB) receiver noise temperature is 300 divided by 350K over the 85 to 110 GHz band. Input bandwidth of the fullheight waveguide mixer (cap delta f S/f SO greater than 30%) is equal to 1/2-and close to 1/4-reduced-height waveguide mixers.  相似文献

High power industrial multibeam CO2 lasers consist of a large number of closely packed parallel glass discharge tubes sharing a common plane parallel resonator. Every discharge tube forms an independent resonator. When discharge tubes of smaller diameter are used and the Fresnel numberN ≪ 1 for all resonators, they operate in waveguide mode. Waveguide modes have excellent discrimination of higher order modes. A DC excited waveguide multibeam CO2 laser is reported having six glass discharge tubes. Simultaneous excitation of DC discharge in all sections is achieved by producing pre-ionization using an auxiliary high frequency pulsed discharge along with its other advantages. Maximum 170 W output power is obtained with all beams operating in EH11 waveguide mode. The specific power of 28 W/m is much higher as compared to similar AC excited waveguide multibeam CO2 lasers. Theoretical analysis shows that all resonators of this laser will support only EH11 mode. This laser is successfully used for woodcutting  相似文献

It is considered and offered the waveguide band elimination filter with the working mode H10 that can be used in millimeter waves devices such as up, down- converters, mixer, etc. The characteristics of the filter was calculated by using analogy in electromagnetic the waveguide propagation and optical the wave propagation in the medium with the specific refractive index N. This conception can be applied for party-filled waveguide in the case when the Brillouin decomposition of the waveguide waves into plane waves is correct and the transformation of the incident (propagating) mode into other the mode types is absent.In this work were calculated the spectrum energy transmittance T(f) in the filter stop band and the wavelength 0 in the center of this band using the characteristic equation obtained in the result of theoretical consideration. In view of applications of SiOxNy thin films in MOEMS technology, a study of the optomechanical characteristics of the PECVD deposited material are investigated. To optimize the quality of SiOxNy layers we establish the relationship between the chemical properties, optical performances, micromechanical stress, and growth parameters of deposited films. To use the SiOxNy thin film for the core layer of a strip-loaded waveguide, we propose preparation conditions of SiOxNy that offer a low-loss optical waveguide with well-controlled refractive index, based on a low-internal stress multilayer structure.  相似文献
