In the present paper, we consider a five-dimensional Riemannian manifold with an irreducible SO(3)-structure as an example of an abstract statistical manifold. We prove that if a five-dimensional Riemannian manifold with an irreducible SO(3)-structure is a statistical manifold of constant curvature, then the metric of the Riemannian manifold is an Einstein metric. In addition, we show that a five-dimensional Euclidean sphere with an irreducible SO(3)-structure cannot be a conjugate symmetric statistical manifold. Finally, we show some results for a five-dimensional Riemannian manifold with a nearly integrable SO(3)-structure. For example, we prove that the structure tensor of a nearly integrable SO(3)-structure on a five-dimensional Riemannian manifold is a harmonic symmetric tensor and it defines the first integral of third order of the equations of geodesics. Moreover, we consider some topological properties of five-dimensional compact and conformally flat Riemannian manifolds with irreducible SO(3)-structure.  相似文献

A closed orientable four-dimensional manifoldM 4, whose sectional curvatures satisfy –1 K 1, is considered. If the product of the curvatures of orthogonal area elements is nonnegative and if at least at one point all the curvatures are different from zero, then the estimate vol(M 4) > (4/9)2 is obtained for the volume ofM 4. We prove that the volume of PT z 1, 0 M, calculated with respect to a Kähler metric induced by a complex Finsler structure, is a constant. This contrasts sharply with the situation in real Finsler geometry, where the volume of unit tangent sphere at each point x in a real Finsler manifold is in general a function of x. We develop a class of integrals on a manifold M called exponential iterated integrals, an extension of K.T. Chen's iterated integrals. It is shown that the matrix entries of any upper triangular representation of π1(M,x) can be expressed via these new integrals. The ring of exponential iterated integrals contains the coordinate rings for a class of universal representations, called the relative solvable completions of π1(M,x). We consider exponential iterated integrals in the particular case of fibered knot complements, where the fundamental group always has a faithful relative solvable completion.  相似文献

We revisit Stasheff's construction of a minimal Lie-Quillen model of a simply-connected closed manifold using the language of infinity-algebras. This model is then used to construct a graded Lie bracket on the equivariant homology of the free loop space of minus a point similar to the Chas-Sullivan string bracket.

The relative risk/prevalence ratio and odds ratio are very popular in medical research and epidemiological studies. The odds ratio is overused in practice due to its direct relation with the logistic regression. Interpreting the odds ratio in terms of “relative risk” may lead to incorrect inference on the prevalence of certain event. In this paper, we propose to estimate the relative risk using the log-binomial model by maximizing the likelihood with a linear constraint, which can be easily implemented by an existing function, such as “constrOptim” in R. Furthermore, we review other existing methods and compare their performance under a variety of settings using simulated data. We suggest the proposed and COPY methods in practice, based on its performance in the simulations. For illustration, we investigate the vigorous physical activity effects on obesity using data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, and the treatment effects on lung cancer mortality using data in R.  相似文献

Generalized Robertson-Walker (GRW) spaces constitute a quite important family in Lorentzian geometry, and it is an interesting question to know whether a Lorentzian manifold can be decomposed in such a way. It is well known that the existence of a suitable vector field guaranties the local decomposition of the manifold. In this paper, we give conditions on the curvature which ensure a global decomposition and apply them to several situations where local decomposition appears naturally. We also study the uniqueness question, obtaining that the de Sitter spaces are the only nontrivial complete Lorentzian manifolds with more than one GRW decomposition. Moreover, we show that the Friedmann Cosmological Models admit an unique GRW decomposition, even locally.  相似文献

The Ricci flow is an evolution equation in the space of Riemannian metrics.A solution for this equation is a curve on the manifold of Riemannian metrics.
