The applicability of variational principles for single-particle expectation values to the inhomogeneous electron gas at surfaces is demonstrated. Jellium metal surface densities, correct to second order, are determined by application of the formalism to the operator . The surface dipole barrier thus obtained is shown to lead to essentially exact results over a substantial range of the variational parameter employed. The procedure for inclusion of the discrete ionic lattice is also indicated. 相似文献

It is shown that not only adiabatic perturbations of the density but also isothermal density perturbations are generated in the inflationary universe. The magnitude of isothermal perturbations can be sufficiently large for the subsequent galaxy formation. The spectrum of isothermal perturbations can differ considerably from a flat one. 相似文献

We show how to use inverse-scattering theory as the basis for the inflationary reconstruction program, the goal of which is to gain information about the physics which drives inflation. Inverse-scattering theory provides an effective and well-motivated procedure, having a sound mathematical basis and being of sufficient generality that it can be considered the foundation for a nonparametric reconstruction program. We show how simple properties of the power spectrum translate directly into statements about the evolution of the background geometry during inflation. 相似文献

content of the universe is now dominated by dark energy and dark matter we present the general solution of the equation that
describes the evolution of density perturbations in the linear approximation. It turns out that as in the standard CDM model
the density perturbations grow very slowly during the radiation dominated epoch and their amplitude increases by a factor

The transition from low-confinement (L-mode) to high-confinement (H-mode) plasmas has been directly produced by injecting frozen deuterium pellets in the DIII-D tokamak. H-mode transitions were produced at edge electron and ion temperatures below the L-mode values. This implies that a critical edge temperature is not necessary for H-mode transitions. The experimentally determined edge plasma parameters were well below those predicted by several theories of the H-mode transition to trigger the H-mode, indicating a need for revision of these theories. 相似文献

We calculate height-height correlation functions, near-surface density-density correlation functions and the corresponding
frequency integrated spectra for a heat conducting viscous fluid. We calculate scattering cross-sections for the static and
dynamic X-ray scattering experiments recently developed to investigate the nanometer-scale structure and fluctuations of liquid
interfaces. We show that the density-density correlations make an important contribution to the scattering, even using evanescent
waves, and that they are strongly affected by the surface. We also discuss the implications for X-ray photon correlation spectroscopy
and X-ray inelastic scattering.

We observe that when a local patch in a radiation filled Robertson–Walker universe inflates by some reason, outside perturbations
can enter into the inflating region. Generally, the physical wavelengths of these perturbations become larger than the Hubble
radius as they cross into the inflating space and their amplitudes freeze out immediately. It turns out that the corresponding
power spectrum is not scale invariant. Although these perturbations cannot reach out to a distance inner observer shielded
by a de Sitter horizon, they still indicate a curious boundary effect in local inflationary scenarios. 相似文献

提出了一种新结构的X波段五腔渡越管振荡器,进行了理论和实验研究。根据场分布进行了一维非线性分析,结果表明该结构可以产生高功率微波,并判断了工作模式,为TM01模的3π/5模。采用粒子模拟验证了一维非线性分析的结论,并优化设计出五腔渡越管振荡器,优化结果为:输出功率约1 GW, 工作频率9.3 GHz,束波转换效率约22%。实验中,通过参数调节,得到频率约9.25 GHz,峰值功率约780 MW,脉宽(半高宽)21 ns的输出微波,束波转换效率约为16%。实验结果与模拟结果基本符合。 相似文献
