The influence of the SiCp proportion and the matrix concentration of four aluminium metal matrix composites (A360/SiC/10p, A360/SiC/20p, A380/SiC/10p, A380/SiC/20p) modified by lanthanum-based conversion or electrolysis coating was evaluated in neutral salt fog according to ASTM B 117. Lanthanum-based conversion coatings were obtained by immersion in 50 °C solution of La(III) salt and lanthanum electrolysis treatments were performed in ethylene glycol mono-butyl ether solution. These treatments preferentially covered cathodic areas such as intermetallic compounds, Si eutectic and SiCp. The kinetic of the corrosion process was studied on the basis of gravimetric tests. Both coating microstructure and nature of corrosion products were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDS) and low angle X-ray diffraction (XRD) before and after accelerated testing to determine the influence of microstructural changes on corrosion behaviour during exposure to the corrosive environment. The corrosion process was more influenced by the concentration of alloy elements in the matrix than by the proportion of SiCp reinforcement. Both conversion and electrolysis surface treatments improved the behaviour to salt fog corrosion in comparison with original composites without treatment. Additionally, electrolysis provided a higher degree of protection than the conversion treatment because the coating was more extensive.  相似文献

This study investigated the surface characteristics and in vitro biocompatibility of a titanium (Ti) oxide layer incorporating calcium ions (Ca) obtained by hydrothermal treatment with or without post heat-treatment in the Ti-13Nb-13Zr alloy. The surface characteristics were evaluated by scanning electron microscopy, thin-film X-ray diffractometry, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy and contact angle measurements. In vitro biocompatibility of the Ca-containing surfaces was assessed in comparison with untreated surfaces using a pre-osteoblast cell line. Hydrothermal treatment produced a crystalline CaTiO3 layer. Post heat-treatment at 400 °C for 2 h in air significantly decreased water contact angles in the CaTiO3 layer (p < 0.001). The Ca-incorporated alloy surfaces displayed markedly increased cell viability and ALP activity compared with untreated surfaces (p < 0.001), and also an upregulated expression of various integrin genes (α1, α2, α5, αv, β1 and β3) at an early incubation time-point. Post heat-treatment further increased attachment and ALP activity in cells grown on Ca-incorporated Ti-13Nb-13Zr alloy surfaces. The results indicate that the Ca-incorporated oxide layer produced by hydrothermal treatment and a simple post heat-treatment may be effective in improving bone healing in Ti-13Nb-13Zr alloy implants by enhancing the viability and differentiation of osteoblastic cells.  相似文献

Nano-sized cerium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (YAG:Ce) phosphors were synthesized via a simple sol-gel process using metal nitrate precursors. The prepared phosphors were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy, respectively. Pure cubic garnet phase was formed at temperatures ∼900 οC. The particle sizes of as-prepared powders were mostly in the range of 17-27 nm. The crystalline YAG:Ce showed broad emission peaks in the range of 400-700 nm and maximum intensities at 500 and 520 nm. It is found also that the emission intensity decreased with increasing Ce doping concentration from 0.1 to 1.5 at%. With increasing Ce doping concentration, the PL intensity was shifted towards shorter wavelengths.  相似文献

The Ce/Pd/Ru(0 0 0 1) system has been studied by photoelectron spectroscopy and low energy electron diffraction. The Pd overlayer thicknesses were in the range from one to two monolayers. The effective Ce overlayer thicknesses were in the range from 0.5 to 1.5 monolayers. The interfaces were studied for annealing temperatures from room temperature up to 1030 °C. A tendency of intermixing of Pd and Ce was observed already at room temperature. The estimated Ce valence and 4f-4d hybridization strength were found to be largest for the most Pd rich surfaces. The onset of desorption of Ce and Pd takes place at a temperature of 700 °C, which is considerably lower than the temperature of onset of desorption of Ce from the Ce-Pd system. This is argued to be due to a weakening of the substrate bonds when stronger Ce-Pd bonds form. Intermixing between the Ru substrate and Pd and Ce was not observed. The low value of the sample work function that was recorded throughout these studies shows that Ce was always present at the outermost surface layer.  相似文献

We have investigated the Ce 4f electronic states in the Ce/Pd(1 1 1) and Ce-oxide/Pd(1 1 1) systems, using resonant photoemission (Ce 4d → 4f transitions), and XPS to understand Pd-Ce interactions in ultra thin layers of cerium and ceria deposited on Pd(1 1 1). Cerium deposited on Pd(1 1 1) at room temperature forms surface Ce-Pd alloys with Ce rich character, while a Pd rich Ce-Pd alloy is formed by heating to 700 °C. A modification of the chemical state of Ce can also be seen after oxygen exposure. RPES provides evidence that Ce-oxide layers deposited on Pd(1 1 1) have a CeO2 (Ce4+) character, however a net contribution of the Ce3+ states is also revealed. The Ce3+ states have surface character and are accompanied by oxygen vacancies. Heating to 600 °C causes Ce-oxide reduction. A significant shift of Pd 4d-derived states, induced by Pd 4d and Ce 4f hybridization, was observed. The resonant features in the valence band corresponding to Ce4+, Ce3+ and Ce0 states have been investigated for various Pd−Ce(CeOx) coverages.  相似文献

One-dimensional Ce nanowires have been grown on a single-domain vicinal Si(1 0 0) surface. The growth mode, including the structural and electronic properties as a function of the substrate temperature and Ce coverage, was studied using scanning tunneling microscopy and scanning tunneling spectroscopy. The results show the formation of Ce nanowires along the step edges on the vicinal Si(1 0 0) substrate at 580 °C.  相似文献

Cerium-doped Gd2SiO5 (GSO:Ce) films have been prepared on (1 1 1) silicon substrates by the sol-gel technique. Annealing was performed in the temperature range from 400 to 1000 °C. X-ray diffraction (XRD), and atomic force microscopy (AFM) were used to investigate the structure and morphology of GSO:Ce films. Results showed that GSO:Ce film starts to crystallize at about 600 °C, GSO:Ce films have a preferential (0 2 1) orientation, as the annealing temperature increase, the (0 2 1) peak intensity increases, the full width of half maximum (FWHM) decreases, and the grain size of GSO:Ce films increases. Emission spectra of GSO:Ce films were measured, results exhibit the characteristic blue emission peak at 427 nm.  相似文献

Organic-inorganic composite microspheres with PS as a core and CeO2 nanoparticles as a shell were synthesized by in situ decomposition reaction of Ce(NO3)3 on the surfaces of PS microspheres prepared through soap-free emulsion polymerization. The shell thickness of the composite microspheres could be turned by varying the concentration of Ce(NO3)3 in the reaction solution. The whole process required neither surface treatment for PS microspheres nor additional surfactant or stabilizer. The as-synthesized PS/CeO2 composite microsphere samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Oxide chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) performance of the PS/CeO2 composite abrasives with different shell thickness was characterized by atomic force microscopy (AFM). The results indicated that the as-prepared core-shell structured composite microspheres (220-260 nm in diameter) possessed thin shell (10-30 nm) composed of CeO2 nanoparticles (particle diameter of 5-10 nm), and the final CeO2 contents of the composite microspheres ranged from 10 to 50 wt%. A possible mechanism for the formation of PS/CeO2 composite microspheres was discussed also. The CMP test results confirmed that the novel core-shell structured composite abrasives are useful to improve oxide CMP performance. In addition, there is an obvious effect of shell thickness of the composite abrasives on oxide CMP performance.  相似文献

Perovskites of ABO3 type like strontium titanate (SrTiO3) are of great practical concern as materials for oxygen sensors operating at high temperatures. It is well known that the surface layer shows different properties compared to the bulk. Numerous studies exist for the SrTiO3(1 0 0) and (1 1 0) surfaces which have investigated the changes in the electronic structure and topography as a function of the preparation conditions. They have indicated a rather complex behaviour of the surface and the near surface region of SrTiO3 at elevated temperatures. Up to now, the behaviour of the SrTiO3(1 1 1) surfaces under thermal treatment is not sufficiently known. This contribution is intended to work out the relation between alteration of the surface topography with respect to the preparation conditions and the simultaneous changes of the electronic structure. We applied scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) to investigate the surface topography and, additionally, metastable impact electron spectroscopy (MIES) to study the surface electronic structure of reconstructed SrTiO3(1 1 1) surfaces. The crystals were heated up to 1000 °C under reducing and oxidizing conditions. Both preparation conditions cause strong changes of the surface topography and electronic structure. A microfaceting of the topmost layers is found.  相似文献

Vitroceramic powders of Li2O-Al2O3-SiO2 systems (LAS), doped with 1% (LAS:1Ce) and 10% (LAS:10Ce) molar of cerianite (CeO2) were synthesized by means of the gelification technique of metal formates of aluminum and lithium, in the presence of tetraethoxy silane and CeO2. The gels obtained were dried (120 °C, 2.5 h), calcined (480 °C, 5 h) and sinterized (1250 °C, 30 min). The sinterized samples were characterized by X-ray difraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and microchemical analysis (EDS). There is evidence for a mixture of two phases of 64% β-spodumene (Li2O-Al2O3-4SiO2) and 36% β-eucryptite (Li2O-Al2O3-2SiO2). The LAS:1Ce system was enriched in aluminum, the LAS:10Ce system showed areas of heterogeneous composition; some regions with a shortage of CeO2, while others zones with cerium cumulus. From the microscopy images it was found that CeO2 acts as a densificant agent in LAS system, favoring the sintering in the host. The chemical route and the sintering processes utilized allow the production of samples exhibiting an acceptable linear correlation between total thermoluminescent emission intensity and the irradiation dose when the CeO2 concentration is low (less than 1%), opening the possibility of using this kind of glass-ceramic in dosimetry.  相似文献

This article reports photoemission and STM studies for the adsorption and dissociation of water on Ce-Au(1 1 1) alloys and CeOx/Au(1 1 1) surfaces. In general, the adsorption of water at 300 K on disordered Ce-Au(1 1 1) alloys led to O-H bond breaking and the formation of Ce(OH)x species. Heating to 500-600 K induced the decomposition or disproportionation of the adsorbed OH groups, with the evolution of H2 and H2O into gas phase and the formation of Ce2O3 islands on the gold substrate. The intrinsic Ce ↔ H2O interactions were explored by depositing Ce atoms on water multilayers supported on Au(1 1 1). After adsorbing Ce on ice layers at 100 K, the admetal was oxidized immediately to yield Ce3+. Heating to room temperature produced finger-like islands of Ce(OH)x on the gold substrate. The hydroxyl groups dissociated upon additional heating to 500-600 K, leaving Ce2O3 particles over the surface. On these systems, water was not able to fully oxidize Ce into CeO2 under UHV conditions. A complete Ce2O3 → CeO2 transformation was seen upon reaction with O2. The particles of CeO2 dispersed on Au(1 1 1) did not interact with water at 300 K or higher temperatures. In this respect, they exhibited the same reactivity as does a periodic CeO2(1 1 1) surface. On the other hand, the Ce2O3/Au(1 1 1) and CeO2−x/Au(1 1 1) surfaces readily dissociated H2O at 300-500 K. These systems showed an interesting reactivity for H2O decomposition. Water decomposed into OH groups on Ce2O3/Au(1 1 1) or CeO2−x/Au(1 1 1) without completely oxidizing Ce3+ into Ce4+. Annealing over 500 K removed the hydroxyl groups leaving behind CeO2−x/Au(1 1 1) surfaces. In other words, the activity of CeOx/Au(1 1 1) for water dissociation can be easily recovered. The behavior of gold-ceria catalysts during the water-gas shift reaction is discussed in light of these results.  相似文献

Molecular adsorption of formaldehyde on the stoichiometric CeO2(1 1 1) and CeO2(1 1 0) surfaces was studied using periodic density functional theory. Two adsorption modes (strong chemisorbed and weak physisorbed) were identified on both surfaces. This is consistent with recent experimental observations. On the (1 1 1) surface, formaldehyde strongly chemisorbs with an adsorption energy of 0.86 eV to form a dioxymethylene-like structure, in which a surface O lifts from the surface to bind with the C of formaldehyde. A weak physisorbed state with adsorption energy of 0.28 eV was found with the O of formaldehyde interacting with a surface Ce. On the (1 1 0) surface, dioxymethyelene formation was also observed, with an adsorption energy of 1.31 eV. The weakly adsorbed state of formaldehyde on the (1 1 0) surface was energetically comparable to the weak adsorption state on the (1 1 1) surface. Analysis of the local density of states and charge density differences after adsorption shows that strong covalent bonding occurs between the C of formaldehyde and surface O when dioxymethylene forms. Calculated vibrational frequencies also confirm dioxymethylene formation. Our results show that as the coverage increases, the adsorption of formaldehyde on the (1 1 1) surface becomes weak, but is nearly unaffected on the (1 1 0) surface.  相似文献

We test the response of the √3 × √3α reconstructions formed by 1/3 monolayer of tin adatoms on silicon and germanium (1 1 1) surfaces upon doping with electrons or holes, using potassium or iodine as probes/perturbers of the initial electronic structures. From detailed synchrotron radiation photoelectron spectroscopy studies we show that doping with either electrons or holes plays a complimentary role on the Si and Ge surfaces and, especially, leads to complete conversion of the Sn 4d two-component spectra into single line shapes. We find that the low binding energy component of the Sn core level for both Si and Ge surfaces corresponds to Sn adatoms with higher electronic charge, than the Sn adatoms that contribute to the core level high binding energy signal. This could be analyzed as Sn adatoms with different valence state.  相似文献

The influence of He/O2 atmospheric pressure plasma jet (APPJ) treatment on subsequent wet desizing of polyacrylate on PET fabrics was studied in the present paper. Weight loss results indicated that the weight loss increased with an increase of plasma treatment time. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed an increased surface roughness after the plasma treatment. SEM also showed that the fiber surfaces were as clean as unsized fibers after 35 s treatment followed by NaHCO3 desizing. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis indicated that oxygen-based functional groups increased for the plasma treated polyacrylate sized fabrics. The percent desizing ratio (PDR) results showed that more than 99% PDR was achieved after 65 s plasma treatment followed by a 5 min NaHCO3 desizing. Compared to conventional wet desizing, indicating that plasma treatment could significantly reduce desizing time.  相似文献

We investigate the temperature-dependent surface etching process induced by Ce silicide on Si(1 0 0) using scanning tunneling microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. We found that step edges on the Si(1 0 0) surface are gradually roughened due to the formation of Ce silicide as a function of substrate temperature. Unlike the Si(1 1 1) surface, however, terrace etching also occurs in addition to step roughening at 500 °C. Moreover, we found that Si(1 0 0) dimers are released and formed dimer vacancy lines because bulk diffusion of Ce silicide into Si(1 0 0) surface occurs the defect-induced strain at higher temperature (∼600 °C).  相似文献

The (1 1 1)A and (1 1 1)B surfaces of GaAs chemically treated in HCl-isopropanol solution (HCl-iPA) and annealed in vacuum were studied by means of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), low-energy electron diffraction (LEED) and electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS). To avoid uncontrolled contamination, chemical treatment and sample transfer into UHV were performed under pure nitrogen atmosphere. The HCl-iPA treatment removes gallium and arsenic oxides, with about 0.5-3 ML of elemental arsenic being left on the surface, depending on the crystallographic orientation. With the increase of the annealing temperature, a sequence of reconstructions were identified by LEED: (1 × 1) and (2 × 2) on the (1 1 1)A surface and (1 × 1), (2 × 2), (1 × 1), (3 × 3), (√19 × √19) on the (1 1 1)B surface. These sequences of reconstructions correspond to the decrease of surface As concentration. The structural properties of chemically prepared GaAs(1 1 1) surfaces were found to be similar to those obtained by decapping of As-capped epitaxial layers.  相似文献

We have studied the growth of cerium films on Rh(1 1 1) using STM (scanning tunneling microscopy), LEED (low energy electron diffraction), XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy) and AES (Auger electron spectroscopy). Measurements of the Ce films after room temperature deposition showed that Ce is initially forming nanoclusters in the low coverage regime. These clusters consist of 12 Ce atoms and have the shape of pinwheels. At a coverage of 0.25 ML (monolayer, ML) an adatom layer with a (2 × 2) superstructure is observed. Above 0.4 ML, Rh is diffusing through pinholes into the film, forming an unstructured mixed layer. Annealing at 250 °C leads to the formation of ordered Ce-Rh compounds based on the bulk compound CeRh3. At a coverage of 0.1 ML, small ordered (2 × 2) surface alloy domains are observed. The exchanged Rh atoms form additional alloy islands situated on the pure Rh(1 1 1) surface, showing the same (2 × 2) superstructure as the surface alloy. At a coverage of 0.25 ML, the surface is completely covered by the surface alloy and alloy islands. The (2 × 2) structure is equivalent to a (1 1 1)-plane of CeRh3, contracted by 6%. Annealing a 1 ML thick Ce layer leads to a flat surface consisting of different rotational domains of CeRh3(1 0 0). The Rh needed for alloy formation comes from 50 Å deep pits in the substrate. Finally we show that LEIS (low energy ion scattering) is not suitable for the characterization of Ce and CeRh films due to strong effects of neutralization.  相似文献

A density functional theory (DFT) method has been applied to study the adsorption of thiophenic compounds such as thiophene (TP), benzothiophene (BT), dibenzothiophene (DBT) on cation-exchanged Cu(I)Y, Ni(II)Y, Ce(III)Y zeolites. All of calculations were carried out by the generalized gradient approximation (GGA) with the BLYP exchange-correlation functional and DNP basis set. The calculated results indicate that the stable adsorption configuration of TP molecule adsorbed on the Cu(I)Y is the η5 adsorption mode, whereas for BT and DBT, the η1S adsorption mode was found for the both molecules. Only the η1S adsorption mode can be obtained for the three thiophenic compounds adsorbed on the Ni(II)Y. The η5 adsorption mode can be ascribed to the adsorption of thiophene molecules on the Ce(III)Y, but the competition of different adsorption modes could possibly occur during the adsorption process of BT and DBT on the Ce(III)Y. Moreover, the selectivity of TP adsorbed on the adsorbents is in the order of Cu(I)Y > Ce(III)Y > Ni(II)Y, while for BT and DBT, the order is Cu(I)Y > Ni(II)Y > Ce(III)Y.  相似文献

PH3 adsorption on Si(1 1 1)-7 × 7 was studied after various exposures between 0.3 and 60 L at room temperature by means of scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). PH3-, PH2-, H-reacted, and unreacted adatoms can be identified by analyzing empty-state STM images at different sample biases. PHx-reacted rest-atoms can be observed in empty-state STM images if neighboring adatoms are hydrogen terminated. Most of the PH3 adsorbs dissociatively on the surface, generating H- and PH2-adsorbed rest-atom and adatom sites. Dangling-bonds at rest-atom sites are more reactive than adatom sites and the faulted half of the 7 × 7 unit cell is more reactive than the unfaulted half. Center adatoms are overwhelmingly preferred over corner adatoms for PH2 adsorption. The saturation P coverage is ∼0.18 ML. Annealing of PH3-reacted 7 × 7 surfaces at 900 K generates disordered, partially P-covered surfaces, but dosing PH3 at 900 K forms P/Si(1 1 1)- surfaces. Si deposition at 510 K leaves disordered clusters on the surface, which cannot be reordered by annealing up to 800 K. However, annealing above 900 K recreates P/Si(1 1 1)- surfaces. Surface morphologies formed by sequential rapid thermal annealing are also presented.  相似文献

The carboxylic acids are stably adsorbed on TiO2(1 1 0) surfaces at room temperature. To demonstrate the neutralization mechanism proposed by Ashima et al. [H. Ashima, W.-J. Chun, K. Asakura, Surf. Sci. 601 (2007) 1822.] that explains the stable adsorption of carboxylic acids, we studied the full-coverage adsorption structure of acetic anhydride on a TiO2(1 1 0) surface by STM (scanning tunneling microscopy). We directly observed three postulated species on the TiO2(1 1 0) surface; normal acetates (termed acetate A) forming a (2 × 1) ordered structure, a minor acetate species (termed acetate B) which was present between the bridging oxygen and the 5-fold Ti, and the oxygen vacancies. We determined the ratio of these three species. This ratio was in good agreement with the postulated conversion reaction of acetate B to A.  相似文献
