Enteromorpha prolifera was pyrolyzed to prepare activated carbon using chemical activation by zinc chloride. The effect of activation parameters such as activation temperature, weight ratio (Enteromorpha prolifera to ZnCl2), and activation time was investigated. The BET results showed that the surface area and pore volume of activated carbons were achieved as high as 1722 m2/g and 1.11 cm3/g, respectively, in the optimal activation conditions. Batch adsorption studies were carried out to study the adsorption properties of cationic red X-GRL onto activated carbon by varying the parameters like initial solution pH, contact time, and temperature. The kinetic studies showed that the adsorption data followed a pseudo second-order model. The isotherm analysis indicated that the adsorption data could be represented by the Langmuir isotherm model. The Langmuir monolayer adsorption capacity of cationic red X-GRL was estimated as 263.16 mg/g at pH 6.0.  相似文献

Spent grain, a main by-product of the brewing industry, is available in large quantities, but its main application has been limited to animal feeding. Nevertheless, in this study, spent grain modified with 1 M NaCl solution as a novel adsorbent has been used for the adsorption of Pb(II) in aqueous solutions. Isotherms, kinetics and thermodynamics of Pb(II) adsorption onto modified spent grain were studied. The equilibrium data were well fitted with Langmuir, Freundlich and Dubinin-Radushkevick (D-R) isotherm models. The kinetics of Pb(II) adsorption followed pseudo-second-order model, using the rate constants of pseudo-second-order model, the activation energy (Ea) of Pb(II) adsorption was determined as 12.33 kJ mol−1 according to the Arrhenius equation. Various thermodynamic parameters such as ΔGads, ΔHads and ΔSads were also calculated. Thermodynamic results indicate that Pb(II) adsorption onto modified spent grain is a spontaneous and endothermic process. Therefore, it can be concluded that modified spent grain as a new effective adsorbent has potential for Pb(II) removal from aqueous solutions.  相似文献

The nitrogen-heterocyclic compound 8-hydroxyquinoline (8HQ) is one of the components of coal tar and has a wide variety of uses in industry. Because of its toxicity for aquatic organisms and harmful effects for human health, the removal of 8HQ from aqueous solutions by adsorption onto natural bentonite was investigated in the present work. The experimental results show that the optimum pH value of 2.5 is favourable for the 8HQ adsorption. The experimental data were fitted well with the pseudo-second-order kinetic and Langmuir adsorption isotherm models at all studied temperatures. The maximum adsorption capacity obtained from the Langmuir isotherm model at 20 °C was 120.6 mg g−1. The calculated thermodynamic results such as ΔG° (−24.3 kJ mol−1) and ΔH° (−9.56 kJ mol−1) indicate that the adsorption process is spontaneous and exothermic in nature. Solid phase extraction of 8HQ was also performed. The X-ray diffractometry (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) and thermogravimetric (TG) analyses were carried out in order to confirm the 8HQ adsorption onto bentonite. According to the obtained results, natural bentonite can be a reusable and effective adsorbent for the removal of 8HQ.  相似文献

The aim of the present study is to enhance the methylene blue (MB) adsorption of sepiolite by ultrasonic treatment. The natural sepiolite was pretreated by sonication to improve the surface characteristics and enhance the dye uptake capacity. Sonication process resulted in a significant increase in the specific surface area (SSA) of sepiolite. The FTIR spectrum of the sonicated sepiolite indicates that the tetrahedral sheet is probably distorted after sonication process. The effect of various parameters such as sonication, pH, initial dye concentration and temperature on dye adsorption has been investigated. The adsorbed amount of MB on sepiolite increased after sonication as well as with increasing pH and temperature. The experimental data were evaluated by applying the pseudo-first- and second-order, and the intraparticle diffusion adsorption kinetic models. Adsorption process of MB onto sepiolite followed the pseudo-second-order rate expression. The experimental data were analyzed by Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms, and found that the isotherm data were reasonably well correlated by Langmuir isotherm. Maximum monolayer adsorption capacity of sepiolite for MB increased from 79.37 to 128.21 mg/g after the sonication. Various thermodynamic parameters, such as ΔG0, ΔH0 and ΔS0 were calculated. The thermodynamics of MB/sepiolite system indicated spontaneous and endothermic nature of the process. Adsorption measurements showed that the process was very fast and physical in nature.  相似文献

This study investigates the potential use of bael shell carbon (BSC) as an adsorbent for the removal of congo red (CR) dye from aqueous solution. The effect of various operational parameters such as contact time, temperature, pH, and dye concentration were studied. The adsorption kinetics was modeled by first-order reversible kinetics, pseudo-first-order kinetics, and pseudo-second-order kinetics. The dye uptake process obeyed the pseudo-second-order kinetic expression at pH 5.7, 7 and 8 whereas the pseudo-first-order kinetic model was fitted well at pH 9. Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin adsorption models were applied to fit adsorption equilibrium data. The best-fitted data was obtained with the Freundlich model. Thermodynamic study showed that adsorption of CR onto BSC was endothermic in nature and favorable with the positive ΔH° value of 13.613 kJ/mol.  相似文献

Presented are thermal desorption spectroscopy (TDS) and adsorption probability measurements of iso-butane on the Zn-terminated surface of ZnO. The initial adsorption probability, S0, decreases linearly from 0.57 to 0.22 (±0.02) with impact energy, Ei = 0.74-1.92 eV, and is independent of adsorption temperature, Ts = 91-114 K (±5 K), indicating non-activated molecular adsorption. The coverage, Θ, dependent adsorption probabilities, S(Θ), show a cross-over from adsorbate-assisted adsorption (S increases with Θ) to Kisliuk-like dynamics at about the desorption temperature of iso-butane bi-layers (∼110 K). Thus, the adsorption dynamics are precursor-mediated. The enhanced (gas-surface) mass-match, caused by forming a second layer of the alkane, leads to adsorbate-assisted adsorption. A direct fitting procedure of the TDS data yields a pre-exponential factor of 2.5 × 1013/s and a coverage dependent heat of adsorption of Ed(Θ) = 39 − 6 ∗ Θ + 2.5 ∗ exp(−Θ/0.07) kJ/mol.  相似文献

This study examines the use of some 4H-triazole derivatives, namely 3,5-diphenyl-4H-1,2,4-triazole (DHT), 3,5-bis(4-pyridyl)-4H-1,2,4-triazole (4-PHT) and 3,5-bis(4-methyltiophenyl)-4H-1,2,4-triazole (4-MTHT) for corrosion and dissolution protection of mild steel in normal hydrochloric acid solution. The inhibiting efficiency of the different additives is evaluated by means of weight loss and electrochemical techniques such as ac impedance measurements and polarisation curves. The experimental results obtained reveal that 4-MTHT is the best effective inhibitor and the inhibition efficiency is found to be in the following order: 4-MTHT > 4-PHT > DHT. The variation in inhibitive efficiency mainly depends on the type and nature of the substituents present in the inhibitor molecule. Polarisation curves show that theses triazoles are mixed-type inhibitors in 1 M HCl. The inhibition efficiency increases with 4H-triazole derivatives concentration and attains the maximum value of 99.6% in the case of 4-MTHT at 5 × 10−4 M. The results obtained from weight loss electrochemical studies were in reasonable agreement. The adsorption of 4H-triazole derivatives on the steel surface obeys to the Langmuir isotherm model. The thermodynamic data of adsorption and activation are determined and discussed. The fundamental thermodynamic functions were used to glean important information about the 4H-triazoles inhibitory behaviour. Molecular modeling was used to get better insight, about structural and electronic effects in relation to the inhibition efficiencies.  相似文献

A magnetic adsorbent, EDTAD-functionalized Saccharomyces cerevisiae, has been synthesized to behave as an adsorbent for heavy metal ions by adjusting the pH value of the aqueous solution to make carboxyl and amino groups protonic or non-protonic. The bifunctional Saccharomyces cerevisiae (EMS) were used to remove lead(II) and cadmium(II) in solution in a batch system. The results showed that the adsorption capacity of the EMS for the heavy metal ions increased with increasing solution pH, and the maximum adsorption capacity (88.16 mg/g for Pb2+, 40.72 mg/g for Cd2+) at 10 °C was found to occur at pH 5.5 and 6.0, respectively. The adsorption process followed the Langmuir isotherm model. The regeneration experiments revealed that the EMS could be successfully reused.  相似文献

The use of activated carbon obtained from Euphorbia rigida for the removal of a basic textile dye, which is methylene blue, from aqueous solutions at various contact times, pHs and temperatures was investigated. The plant material was chemically modified with H2SO4. The surface area of chemically modified activated carbon was 741.2 m2 g−1. The surface characterization of both plant- and activated carbon was undertaken using FTIR spectroscopic technique. The adsorption process attains equilibrium within 60 min. The experimental data indicated that the adsorption isotherms are well described by the Langmuir equilibrium isotherm equation and the calculated adsorption capacity of activated carbon was 114.45 mg g−1 at 40° C. The adsorption kinetics of methylene blue obeys the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and also followed by the intraparticle diffusion model up to 60 min. The thermodynamic parameters such as ΔG°, ΔH° and ΔS° were calculated to estimate the nature of adsorption. The activation energy of the system was calculated as 55.51 kJ mol−1. According to these results, prepared activated carbon could be used as a low-cost adsorbent to compare with the commercial activated carbon for the removal textile dyes from textile wastewater processes.  相似文献

The densities ρ, speed of sound u, data of o-toluidine (i) + tetrahydropyran (j) + N,N-dimethylformamide (k) and its {tetrahydropyran (j) + N,N-dimethylformamide (k); o-toluidine (i) + N,N-dimethylformamide (k)} binaries have been measured as a function of composition at 298.15, 303.15 and 308.15 K. The excess molar enthalpies, HE data of same set of binary mixtures have also been measured over entire composition at 308.15 K. The densities and speeds of sound data of binary and ternary mixtures have been utilized to determine their excess molar volumes, VE and excess isentropic compressibilities, κSE. The observed thermodynamic properties of binary and ternary mixtures have been analyzed in terms of Graph theory. It has been observed that Graph theory correctly predicts the sign as well as magnitude of thermodynamic properties.  相似文献

Hydrogen adsorption (physisorption) on the faujasite-type zeolite Mg-X was studied by means of variable-temperature (80-140 K) FT-IR spectroscopy. Perturbation of the adsorbed H2 molecules by the cationic adsorbing centres of the zeolite renders the H-H stretching mode IR active, at 4065 cm−1. Simultaneous measurement of IR absorbance and hydrogen equilibrium pressure, for a series of spectra recorded at the increasing temperature, allowed standard adsorption enthalpy and entropy to be determined. They resulted to be ΔH0 = −13 kJ mol−1 and ΔS0 = −114 J mol−1 K−1, respectively. Both, spectroscopic and thermodynamic results are discussed in the broader context of corresponding data for hydrogen adsorption on other alkali and alkaline-earth cation exchanged zeolites, showing that, while an approximate correlation exists between ΔH0 and H-H stretching frequency, deviations can be expected for the case of zeolites containing small metal cations.  相似文献

A γ-Fe2O3/SiO2/chitosan composite was prepared by water-in-oil emulsification, and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Effects of various factors, including adsorbent dosage, initial dye concentration, solution pH, and competing anions, on the adsorption of methyl orange from aqueous solutions by the resulting composite were studied by batch adsorption experiments. The adsorption kinetics was found to follow the pseudo-second-order kinetic model, and intraparticle diffusion was related to the adsorption, but not as a sole rate-controlling step. The equilibrium adsorption data were well described by the Freundlich isotherm model. Evaluation of the thermodynamic parameters ΔG°, ΔH°, and ΔS° revealed that the adsorption process was naturally feasible, spontaneous, and exothermic. The composite was proven to be efficient, suitable and promising for the removal of methyl orange from aqueous solutions since it has a relatively higher adsorption capacity than other low-cost adsorbents.  相似文献

The present study was focused on the removal of methylene blue (MB) from aqueous solution by ultrasound-assisted adsorption onto the gold nanoparticles loaded on activated carbon (Au-NP-AC). This nanomaterial was characterized using different techniques such as SEM, XRD, and BET. The effects of variables such as pH, initial dye concentration, adsorbent dosage (g), temperature and sonication time (min) on MB removal were studied and using central composite design (CCD) and the optimum experimental conditions were found with desirability function (DF) combined response surface methodology (RSM). Fitting the experimental equilibrium data to various isotherm models such as Langmuir, Freundlich, Tempkin and Dubinin–Radushkevich models show the suitability and applicability of the Langmuir model. Analysis of experimental adsorption data to various kinetic models such as pseudo-first and second order, Elovich and intraparticle diffusion models show the applicability of the second-order equation model. The small amount of proposed adsorbent (0.01 g) is applicable for successful removal of MB (RE > 95%) in short time (1.6 min) with high adsorption capacity (104–185 mg g−1).  相似文献

In present study, magnetic cobalt ferrite nanoparticles modified with (E)-N-(2-nitrobenzylidene)-2-(2-(2-nitrophenyl)imidazolidine-1-yl) ethaneamine (CoFe2O4-NPs-NBNPIEA) was synthesized and applied as novel adsorbent for ultrasound energy assisted adsorption of nickel(II) ions (Ni2+) from aqueous solution. The prepared adsorbent characterized by Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), transmission electron microscope (TEM), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The dependency of adsorption percentage to variables such as pH, initial Ni2+ ions concentration, adsorbent mass and ultrasound time were studied with response surface methodology (RSM) by considering the desirable functions. The quadratic model between the dependent and independent variables was built. The proposed method showed good agreement between the experimental data and predictive value, and it has been successfully employed to adsorption of Ni2+ ions from aqueous solution. Subsequently, the experimental equilibrium data at different concentration of Ni2+ ions and 10 mg amount of adsorbent mass was fitted to conventional isotherm models like Langmuir, Freundlich, Tempkin, Dubinin-Radushkevich and it was revealed that the Langmuir is best model for explanation of behavior of experimental data. In addition, conventional kinetic models such as pseudo-first and second-order, Elovich and intraparticle diffusion were applied and it was seen that pseudo-second-order equation is suitable to fit the experimental data.  相似文献

A new ion-imprinted amino-functionalized silica gel sorbent was synthesized by the hydrothermal-assisted surface imprinting technique using Cd2+ as the template, 3-[2-(2-aminoethylamino)ethylamino]propyl-trimethoxysilane (AAAPTS) as the functional monomer, and epichlorohydrin as the cross-linking agent (IIP-AAAPTS/SiO2) for the selective removal of Cd2+ from aqueous solution, and was characterized by FTIR, SEM, nitrogen adsorption and the static adsorption-desorption experiment method. The specific surface area of the IIP-AAAPTS/SiO2 sorbents was found to be 149 m2 g−1. The results showed that the maximum static adsorption capacities of IIP-AAAPTS/SiO2 sorbents by hydrothermal heating method and by the conventional heating method were 57.4 and 31.6 mg g−1, respectively. The IIP-AAAPTS/SiO2 sorbents offered a fast kinetics for the adsorption and desorption of Cd(II). The relative selectivity coefficients of IIP-AAAPTS/SiO2 sorbents for Cd2+/Co2+, Cd2+/Ni2+, Cd2+/Zn2+, Cd2+/Pb2+ and Cd2+/Cu2+ were 30.68, 14.02, 3.00, 3.12 and 6.17, respectively. IIP-AAAPTS/SiO2 sorbents had a substantial binding capacity in the range of pH 4-8 and could be used repeatedly. Equilibrium data fitted perfectly with Langmuir isotherm model compared to Freundlich isotherm model. Kinetic studies indicated that adsorption followed a pseudo-second-order model. Negative values of ΔG° indicated spontaneous adsorption and the degree of spontaneity of the reaction increased with increasing temperature. ΔH° of 26.13 kJ mol−1 due to the adsorption of Cd2+ on the IIP-AAAPTS/SiO2 sorbents indicated that the adsorption was endothermic in the experimental temperature range.  相似文献

We report the resonant two-photon ionization and mass-analyzed threshold ionization (MATI) spectra of m-methoxyaniline and o-methoxyaniline. The vibronic features of m-methoxyaniline are built on 34308 ± 2 and 34495 ± 2 cm−1 corresponding to the origins of the S1 ← S0 electronic transition (E1’s) of the cis and trans rotamers. Analysis of the MATI spectra gives the adiabatic ionization energies (IEs) of 59983 ± 5 and 60879 ± 5 cm−1 for these two species. o-Methoxyaniline is found to have only one stable structure whose E1 and IE are 33875 ± 2 and 58678 ± 5 cm−1, respectively. Most of the active vibrations of m- and o-methoxyaniline in the electronically excited S1 and cationic ground D0 states result from the in-plane ring vibrations. Comparing these data with those of p-methoxyaniline allows us to learn about the vicinal substitution effects resulting from the relative locations of the NH2 and OCH3 substituents.  相似文献

Pure and 0.384% Pb2+ ions doped goethite samples were prepared in the laboratory by the coprecipitation method. The laboratory-prepared goethite samples were characterized for pH of point of zero charge (pHpzc), surface area, XRD, TG-DTA, TEM, SEM and FTIR analysis, which suggest that the Pb2+ ions are incorporated into the crystals of goethite and are also present on the surface in the hydroxylated form. Chromate adsorption studies were carried out in the concentration range 0.25-2.01 mmol L−1 at pH 3, 5 and 7, which show that maximum chromate is adsorbed at the lowest pH of 3 by both the samples of goethite. Effect of temperature on the adsorption of chromate, in the range 303-323 K, shows that the process of adsorption is endothermic in case of pure goethite and exothermic in case of Pb-doped goethite. The values of isosteric heat of adsorption were positive for pure goethite and negative for Pb-doped goethite, which are consistent with the effect of temperature on the process of adsorption. Langmuir isotherm was found applicable to the experimental data. FTIR analysis and equilibrium pH changes reveal that at pH 3 outersphere while at pH 5 and 7 innersphere complexation is the dominant mechanism for chromate adsorption by both the samples of goethite.  相似文献

Adsorption of carbon dioxide on a faujasite-type H-Y zeolite (Si:Al = 2.6:1) was studied by variable-temperature (200-290 K range) infrared spectroscopy. Adsorbed CO2 molecules interact with the Brønsted acid Si(OH)Al groups located inside the zeolite supercage, bringing about a characteristic bathochromic shift of the O-H stretching mode from 3645 cm−1 (free OH group) to 3540 cm−1 (hydrogen-bonded CO2 adsorption complex). Simultaneously, the asymmetric (ν3) mode of adsorbed CO2 is observed at 2353 cm−1. From the observed variation of the integrated intensity of the 3645 and 2353 cm−1 IR absorption bands upon changing temperature, corresponding values of standard adsorption enthalpy and entropy were found to be ΔH° = −28.5(±1) kJ mol−1 and ΔS° = −129(±10) J mol−1 K−1. Comparison with the reported values of ΔH° for CO2 adsorption on other zeolites is briefly discussed.  相似文献
