Excited-state dynamics in fac-[Re(CO)(3)(Me(4)phen)(cis-L)](+) (Me(4)phen = 3,4,7,8-tetramethyl-1,10-phenanthroline, L = 4-styrylpyridine (stpy) or 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethylene (bpe)) were investigated by steady-state and time-resolved techniques. A complex equilibrium among three closely lying excited states, (3)IL(cis-L), (3)MLCT(Re→Me(4)phen), and (3)IL(Me(4)phen), has been established. Under UV irradiation, cis-to-trans isomerization of coordinated cis-L is observed with a quantum yield of 0.15 in acetonitrile solutions. This photoreaction competes with radiative decay from (3)MLCT(Re→Me(4)phen) and (3)IL(Me(4)phen) excited states, leading to a decrease in the emission quantum yield relative to the nonisomerizable complex fac-[Re(CO)(3)(Me(4)phen)(bpa)](+) (bpa = 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethane). From temperature-dependent time-resolved emission measurements in solution and in poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) films, energy barriers (ΔE(a)) for interconversion between (3)MLCT(Re→Me(4)phen) and (3)IL(Me(4)phen) emitting states were determined. For L = cis-stpy, ΔE(a) = 11 (920 cm(-1)) and 15 kJ mol(-1) (1254 cm(-1)) in 5:4 propionitrile/butyronitrile and PMMA, respectively. For L = cis-bpe, ΔE(a) = 13 kJ mol(-1) (1087 cm(-1)) in 5:4 propionitrile/butyronitrile. These energy barriers are sufficient to decrease the rate constant for internal conversion from higher-lying (3)IL(Me(4)phen) state to (3)MLCT(Re→Me(4)phen), k(i) ? 10(6) s(-1). The decrease in rate allows for the observation of intraligand phosphorescence, even in fluid medium at room temperature. Our results provide additional insight into the role of energy gap and excited-state dynamics on the photochemical and photophysical properties of Re(I) polypyridyl complexes.  相似文献

The triplet metal-to-ligand charge transfer ((3)MLCT) dynamics of two structurally characterized Re(I)(CO)(3)(phen)(HisX)-modified (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline; X = 83, 109) Pseudomonas aeruginosa azurins have been investigated by picosecond time-resolved infrared (TRIR) spectroscopy in aqueous (D(2)O) solution. The (3)MLCT relaxation dynamics exhibited by the two Re(I)-azurins are very different from those of the sensitizer [Re(I)(CO)(3)(phen)(im)](+) (im = imidazole). Whereas the Re(I)(CO)(3) intramolecular vibrational relaxation in Re(I)(CO)(3)(phen)(HisX)Az (4 ps) is similar to that of [Re(I)(CO)(3)(phen)(im)](+) (2 ps), the medium relaxation is much slower ( approximately 250 vs 9.5 ps); the 250-ps relaxation is attributable to reorientation of D(2)O molecules as well as structural reorganization of the rhenium chromophore and nearby polar amino acids in each of the modified proteins.  相似文献

The fac-[Re(CO)3(Me4phen)(trans-L)]+ complexes, Me4phen = 3,4,7,8-tetramethyl-1,10-phenanthroline and L = 4-styrylpyridine, stpy, or 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethylene, bpe, were synthesized and characterized by their spectroscopic, photochemical, and photophysical properties. The complexes exhibit trans-to-cis isomerization upon 313, 334, 365,and 404 nm irradiation, and the true quantum yields can be efficiently determined by absorption changes combined with 1H NMR data. For fac-[Re(CO)3(Me4phen)(trans-bpe)]+ similar quantum yields were determined at all wavelengths investigated. However, a lower value (phitrue = 0.35) was determined for fac-[Re(CO)3(Me4phen)(trans-stpy)]+ at404 nm irradiation, which indicates different pathways for the photoisomerization process. The photoproducts, fac-[Re(CO)3(Me4phen)(cis-L)]+, exhibit luminescence at room temperature with two maxima ascribed to the 3ILMe4phen and 3MLCTRe-->Me4phen excited states. The luminescence properties were investigated in different media, and the behavior in glassy EPA at 77 K showed that the contribution of each emissive state is dependent on the excitation wavelength. The photochemical and photophysical behavior of the complexes were rationalized in terms of the energy gap of excited states and can be exploited in photoswitchable luminescent rigidity sensors.  相似文献

UV-vis absorption and resonance Raman spectra of the complexes fac-[Re(Cl)(CO)3(stpy)2] and fac-[Re(stpy)(CO)3(bpy)]+ (stpy = t-4-styrylpyridine, bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine) show that their lowest absorption bands are dominated by stpy-localized intraligand (IL) pi pi* transitions. For the latter complex a Re --> bpy transition contributes to the low-energy part of the absorption band. Optical population of the 1IL excited state of fac-[Re(Cl)(CO)3(stpy)2] is followed by an intersystem crossing (< or =0.9 ps) to an 3IL state with the original planar trans geometry of the stpy ligand. This state undergoes a approximately 90 degrees rotation around the stpy C=C bond with a 11 ps time constant. An electronically excited species with an approximately perpendicular orientation of the phenyl and pyridine rings of the stpy ligand is formed. Conversion to the ground state and isomerization occurs in the nanosecond range. Intraligand excited states of fac-[Re(stpy)(CO)3(bpy)]+ show the same behavior. Moreover, it was found that the planar reactive 3IL excited state is rapidly and efficiently populated after optical excitation into the Re --> bpy 1MLCT excited state. A 1MLCT --> 3MLCT intersystem crossing takes place first with a time constant of 0.23 ps followed by an intramolecular energy transfer from the ReI(CO)3(bpy) chromophore to a stpy-localized 3IL state with a 3.5 ps time constant. The fast rate ensures complete conversion. Coordination of the stpy ligand to the ReI center thus switches the ligand trans-cis isomerization mechanism from singlet to triplet (intramolecular sensitization) and, in the case of fac-[Re(stpy)(CO)3(bpy)]+, opens an indirect pathway for population of the reactive 3IL excited state via MLCT states.  相似文献

The thermodynamic hydride donor abilities of [HW(CO)(5)](-) (40 kcal/mol), [HW(CO)(4)P(OMe(3))](-) (37 kcal/mol), and [HW(CO)(4)(PPh(3))](-) (36 kcal/mol) have been measured in acetonitrile by either equilibrium or calorimetric methods. The hydride donor abilities of these complexes are compared with other complexes for which similar thermodynamic measurements have been made. [HW(CO)(5)](-), [HW(CO)(4)P(OMe(3))](-), and [HW(CO)(4)(PPh(3))](-) all react rapidly with [CpRe(PMe(3))(NO)(CO)](+) to form dinuclear intermediates with bridging formyl ligands. These intermediates slowly form [CpRe(PMe(3))(NO)(CHO)] and [W(CO)(4)(L)(CH(3)CN)]. The structure of cis-[HW(CO)(4)(PPh(3))](-) has been determined and has the expected octahedral structure. The hydride ligand bends away from the CO ligand trans to PPh(3) and toward PPh(3).  相似文献

Photochemical and photophysical data are reported for a series of fac-[Mn(CO)(3)(phen)(Im-R)](SO(3)CF(3)) complexes, where phen is 1,10-phenanthroline and Im is imidazole. Intraligand and metal-to-ligand charge transfer (MLCT) transitions are observed in the electronic absorption spectra of these complexes and are sensitive to the nature of the ligand substituent. At room temperature the emission spectra show a clear progression from broad structureless MLCT to highly structured pi-pi* emission on going from R = -H, -CH(3), -C(6)H(5), to -Metro, where Metro is 2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole. Even at low temperatures the latter complexes show only the pi-pi* emission. The trend in the photophysical properties found in the emission spectra parallels the changes in the photochemical properties with the electron-donating or electron-withdrawing power of the substituent on the imidazole ligand. Although MLCT irradiation of the complexes with R = -H, -CH(3) leads to the mer-[Mn(CO)(3)(phen)(Im-R)](+) isomers, the complexes with the imidazole ligand substituted by -C(6)H(5) or -Metro release the Im-R ligand and produce the stereoretentive fac-[Mn(CO)(3)(phen)(S)](+) complexes. The stereochemical fate and mechanistic implications of the photolysis reactions are discussed in terms of the nature of ligand substitution.  相似文献

The preparations, X-ray structures, and detailed physical characterizations are presented for three new tetranuclear Fe(III)/RCO(2)(-)/phen complexes, where phen = 1,10-phenanthroline: [Fe(4)(OHO)(OH)(2)(O(2)CMe)(4)(phen)(4)](ClO(4))(3).4.4MeCN.H(2)O (1.4.4MeCN.H(2)O); [Fe(4)O(2)(O(2)CPh)(7)(phen)(2)](ClO(4)).2MeCN (2.2MeCN); [Fe(4)O(2)(O(2)CPh)(8)(phen)(2)].2H(2)O (3.2H(2)O). Complex 1.4.4MeCN.H(2)O crystallizes in space group P2(1)/n, with a = 18.162(9) A, b = 39.016(19) A, c = 13.054(7) A, beta = 104.29(2) degrees, Z = 4, and V = 8963.7 A(3). Complex 2.2MeCN crystallizes in space group P2(1)/n, with a = 18.532(2) A, b = 35.908(3) A, c = 11.591(1) A, beta = 96.42(1) degrees, Z = 4, and V = 7665(1) A(3). Complex 3.2H(2)O crystallizes in space group I2/a, with a = 18.79(1) A, b = 22.80(1) A, c = 20.74(1) A, beta = 113.21(2) degrees, Z = 4, and V = 8166(1) A(3). The cation of 1 contains the novel [Fe(4)(mu(4)-OHO)(mu-OH)(2)](7+) core. The core structure of 2 and 3 consists of a tetranuclear bis(mu(3)-O) cluster disposed in a "butterfly" arrangement. Magnetic susceptibility data were collected on 1-3 in the 2-300 K range. For the rectangular complex 1, fitting the data to the appropriate theoretical chi(M) vs T expression gave J(1) = -75.4 cm(-1), J(2) = -21.4 cm(-1), and g = 2.0(1), where J(1) and J(2) refer to the Fe(III)O(O(2)CMe)(2)Fe(III) and Fe(III)(OH)Fe(III) pairwise exchange interactions, respectively. The S = 0 ground state of 1 was confirmed by 2 K magnetization data. The data for 2 and 3 reveal a diamagnetic ground state with antiferromagnetic exchange interactions among the four high-spin Fe(III) ions. The exchange coupling constant J(bb) ("body-body" interaction) is indeterminate due to prevailing spin frustration, but the "wing-body" antiferromagnetic interaction (J(wb)) was evaluated to be -77.6 and -65.7 cm(-1) for 2 and 3, respectively, using the appropriate spin Hamiltonian approach. M?ssbauer spectra of 1-3 are consistent with high-spin Fe(III) ions. The data indicated asymmetry of the Fe(4) core of 1 at 80 K, which is not detected at room temperature due to thermal motion of the core. The spectra of 2 and 3 analyze as two quadrupole-split doublets which were assigned to the body and wing-tip pairs of metal ions. (1)H NMR spectra are reported for 1-3 with assignment of the main resonances.  相似文献

The electronic excited state reactivity of [Mn(im)(CO)3(phen)]+ (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline; im = imidazole) ranging between 420 and 330 nm have been analyzed by means of relativistic spin–orbit time-dependent density functional theory and wavefunction approaches (state-average-complete-active-space self-consistent-field/multistate CAS second-order perturbation theory). Minimum energy conical intersection (MECI) structures and connecting pathways were explored using the artificial force induced reaction (AFIR) method. MECIs between the first and second singlet excited states (S1/S2-MECIs) were searched by the single-component AFIR (SC-AFIR) algorithm combined with the gradient projection type optimizer. The structural, electronic, and excited states properties of [Mn(im)(CO)3(phen)]+ are compared to those of the Re(I) analogue [Re(im)(CO)3(phen)]+. The high density of excited states and the presence of low-lying metal-centered states that characterize the Mn complex add complexity to the photophysics and open various dissociative channels for both the CO and imidazole ligands. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

The interaction of [Mo(CO)3bipy]2 with various monodentate ligands L (L = NH3, pyr, P(C6H5)3, P(C6H5)Cl2, CN?, SO2) yields, according to the reaction equation in ?Inhaltsübersicht”?, mixed tricarbonyl compounds Mo(CO)3bipyL by cleavage of the CO bridges of the dimeric starting carbonyl. Oxidation of [Mo(CO)3D]2 (D = bipy, phen) by means of iodine, partly in the presence of free bipy or phen, leads to the covalent and ionic, respectively, compound types [MoII(CO)3DI2]2, [MoI(CO)2DI]2, [MoII(CO)2D2I]I and [MoII(CO)2D2I]I3.  相似文献

Thermal decomposition of three tetravanadates, [MII(phen)3]2V4O12·phen·22H2O, where M II is Co (1), Ni (2), Cu (3) and phen is 1,10-phenanthroline, was studied by dynamic method (for 1 and 2) or isothermally (for 3). The thermal decomposition of the studied compounds is a multi-step process which involve: discontinuous dehydration, release of uncoordinated, and of coordinated phenanthroline molecules. In course of the latter process, a phase transition of the cyclo-tetravanadates to polymeric metavanadates occurred. Metavanadates with chain structure of the anion were the final decomposition products of all tetravanadates studied. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

The thermal and light-induced spin transitions in [Fe(x)Zn(1-x)(phen)2(NCS)2] (phen = 1,10-phenantholine) have been investigated by magnetic susceptibility, photomagnetism and diffuse reflectivity measurements. These complexes display a thermal spin transition and undergo the light-induced excited spin state trapping (LIESST) effect at low temperatures. For each compound, the thermal spin transition temperature, T1/2, and the relaxation temperature of the photo-induced high-spin state, T(LIESST), have been systematically determined. It appears that T1/2 decreases with the metal dilution while T(LIESST) remains unchanged. This behaviour is discussed on the basis of the kinetic study governing the photo-induced back conversion.  相似文献

The electronic absorption spectrum of fac-[Mn(CO)(3)(phen)imH](+), fac-1 in CH(2)Cl(2) is characterized by a strong absorption band at 378 nm (epsilon(max) = 3200 mol(-1) L cm(-1)). On the basis of quantum mechanical calculations, the visible absorption band has been assigned to ligand-to-ligand charge-transfer (LLCT, im-->phen) and metal-to-ligand charge-transfer (MLCT, Mn-->phen) charge transfer transition. When fac-1 in CH(2)Cl(2) is irradiated with 350 nm continuous light, the absorption features are gradually shifted to represent those of the meridional complex mer-[Mn(CO)(3)(phen)imH](+), mer-1 (lambda(max) = 556 nm). The net photoreaction under these conditions is a photoisomerization, although, the presence of the long-lived radical species was also detected by (1)H NMR and FTIR spectroscopy. 355 nm continuous photolysis of fac-1 in CH(3)CN solution also gives the long-lived intermediate which is readily trapped by metylviologen (MV(2+)) giving rise to the formation of the one-electron reduced methyl viologen (MV(*+)). The UV-vis spectra monitored during the slow (45 min) thermal back reaction exhibited isosbestic conversion at 426 nm. On the basis of spectroscopic techniques and quantum mechanical calculations, the role of the radicals produced is analyzed.  相似文献

The title saccharinate complexes, aqua[1,2‐benzisothiazol‐3(2H)‐onato 1,1‐dioxide‐N]bis(1,10‐phenanthroline‐N,N′)manganese(II) 1,2‐benzisothiazol‐3(2H)‐onate 1,1‐dioxide,[Mn(C7H4NO3S)(C12H8N2)2(H2O)](C7H4NO3S), and aqua[1,2‐benzisothiazol‐3(2H)‐onato 1,1‐dioxide‐N]bis(2,2′‐bipyridine‐N,N′)cobalt(II) 1,2‐benzisothiazol‐3(2H)‐onate 1,1‐dioxide, [Co(C7H4NO3S)(C10H8N2)2(H2O)](C7H4NO3S), have been prepared and their crystal structures determined at 150 K. The structure of the manganese complex consists of repeated alternating [Mn(phen)2(sac)(H2O)]+ cations and non‐coordinated saccharinate anions. The water molecule, bound to manganese as part of a slightly distorted octahedral arrangement, is hydrogen bonded to an O atom of the SO2 group in the saccharinate counter‐ion. In contrast, the cobalt complex has one pseudo‐octahedral [Co(bipy)2(sac)(H2O)]+ cation, with the cobalt‐bound water molecule hydrogen bonded to the N atom of the accompanying free saccharinate anion.  相似文献

Several new ruthenium(II) complexes containing 8-(dimethylphosphino)quinoline (Me(2)Pqn) were synthesized, and their structures and electrochemical/spectroscopic properties have been investigated. In addition to the mono(Me(2)Pqn) complex [Ru(bpy or phen)(2)(Me(2)Pqn)](PF(6))(2) (1 or 1'; bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine; phen = 1,10-phenanthroline), the geometrical isomers trans(P)- and C(1)-[Ru(bpy)(Me(2)Pqn)(2)](PF(6))(2) (tP-2 and C(1)-2) and mer- and fac-[Ru(Me(2)Pqn)(3)](PF(6))(2) (m-3 and f-3) were also selectively synthesized and isolated. It was found that complexes tP-2 and m-3 were converted quantitatively to the corresponding C(1)-2 and f-3 isomers, respectively, by irradiation of light corresponding to the MLCT transition energy. The strong trans influence of the Me(2)P- donor group of Me(2)Pqn was confirmed by the X-ray structural analyses for 1, tP-2, m-3, and f-3. Cyclic voltammetry of a series of complexes, [Ru(bpy)(3)](PF(6))(2), 1, C(1)-2, and f-3, exhibited a reversible one-electron oxidation wave and two or three one-electron reduction waves. The oxidation potentials of the complexes gave a large positive shift with increasing number of coordinated Me(2)Pqn molecules, indicating a larger pi-acceptability of the Me(2)P- group compared with bpy or qn. Complex f-3 in EtOH/MeOH (4:1) glass at 77 K exhibited an intense long-lived (tau = 920 microseconds) emission arising from the quinoline-based (3)(pi-pi) excited state. In contrast, the mixed-ligand complexes 1, 1', and C(1)-2 showed a characteristic dual emission, giving a double-exponential emission decay, and the dual emission originates from both the bpy-based (3)MLCT and the quinoline-based (3)(pi-pi) emitting states.  相似文献
