Heat transfer to a single particle exposed to a thermal plasma   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
This paper is concerned with an analytical study of the heat and mass transfer process of a single particle exposed to a thermal plasma, with emphasis on the effects which evaporation imposes on heat transfer from the plasma to the particle. The results refer mainly to an atmospheric-pressure argon plasma and, for comparison purposes, an argon-hydrogen mixture and a nitrogen plasma are also considered in a temperature range from 3000 to 16,000 K. Interactions with water droplets, alumina, tungsten, and graphite particles are considered in a range of small Reynolds numbers typical for plasma processing of fine powders. Comparisons between exact solutions of the governing equations and approximate solutions indicate the parameter range for which approximate solutions are valid. The time required for complete evaporation of a given particle can be determined from calculated values of the vaporization constant. This constant is mainly determined by the boiling (or sublimation) temperature of the particles and the density of the condensed phase. Evaporation severely reduces heat transfer to a particle and, in general, this effect is more pronounced for materials with low latent heat of evaporation.  相似文献

Surface-tethered proteins are increasingly being used in a variety of experimental situations, and they are the basis for many new technologies. Nevertheless, a thorough understanding of how a surface can impact the native state stability of an attached protein is lacking. In this work, the authors use molecular dynamics simulations of a model beta-barrel protein to investigate how surface tethering influences native state stability. They find that stability, as measured by the folding temperature Tf, can be either increased, decreased, or remain unchanged as a result of tethering. Observed shifts are highly dependent on the location of residue used as the tether point, and stability is influenced by a number of factors, both energetic and entropic. These factors include native state vibrations, loss of bulk unfolded conformations, changes to the unfolded state ensemble, and the emergence of an entropic term not present for the bulk protein. They discuss each of these contributions in detail and comment on their relative importance and connection to experiment.  相似文献

Allenes (carbodicarbenes) and [3]cumulenes are linear carbon chains that can be bent when the terminal group has a strong carbene nature. This bending can be quite pronounced in allenes but not in [3]cumulenes. In this study, how N-heterocyclic or cyclic (alkyl)(amino) carbene (NHC and CAAC, respectively) terminal groups can modify the linear structure of [n]cumulenes has been analyzed. A low π acidity of the terminal carbene affects the linearity of [2n]cumulenes. Indeed, it has been found that the NHC [4]cumulene is extremely bent, contrary to classical [4]cumulenes. The predicted NHC [4]cumulene or tricarbodicarbene has two lone pairs and the π electrons are delocalized over the whole molecule. More significantly, DFT calculations have shown that this bent [4]cumulene is very stable, considerably more so than the corresponding [3]cumulene, which has been elusive to synthesize. Remarkably, calculations have shown that all the NHC [2n]cumulenes are more than 25 kcal mol−1 more stable than the [2n−1]cumulenes.  相似文献

The reactivity of the 2‐phosphaethynolate anion (PCO?) towards a cyclic trisilene (cSi3(Tip)4) is reported. The result is the net activation of the P? C and Si? Si multiple bonds of the precursors affording a heteroatomic bicyclo[1.1.1]pentan‐2‐one analogue ([P(CO)Si3(Tip)4]?; 1 ). This reaction can be interpreted as the formal addition of a phosphide and a carbonyl across the Si? Si double bond. Photolytic decarbonylation of 1 results in the incorporation of the phosphide vertex into the cyclotrisilene scaffold, yielding a congener of the cyclobutene anion with considerable allylic character.  相似文献

The present study aims to demonstrate the direct link between the microbial ecosystem of drinking water distribution systems and animal health in pig breeding. Based on a survey over 18 months, a treatment using essential oils proved to be efficient in increasing piglet health and zootechnical performance. Water pipe biofilms were monitored by laser scanning confocal microscopy, while zootechnical performance and health cost data were collected from professional organisations. In two representative monitored herds, it was observed that the drinking water distribution pipes, initially fouled by fungi, were replaced by a bacterial film while both veterinary costs and the total feed conversion ratio decreased. Essential oils may thus provide an efficient and sustainable alternative to the massive use of antibiotics for transforming an initial detrimental ecosystem to a positive biofilm.  相似文献

Reaction of the molybdaborane arachno-2-[Mo(η-C5H5)(η51-C5H4)B4H7] (I) with the electron-rich molecule [W(PMe3)3H6] at 60 °C for 12 h in toluene gives the novel tungstaborane nido-2-W(PMe3)3H2B4H7[Mo(η-C5H5)(η51-C5H4)H2] (II) in 60% yield. The reaction is almost quantitative when followed by NMR. This is a rare example of metal fragment exchange within a metallaborane cage. The molybdenum atom is retained in the molecule via a σ-bond between the substituted cyclopentadienyl ring and a basal boron atom in the metallaborane cluster.  相似文献

Grubbs' second generation ruthenium catalyst was used to couple the amino acid l-phenylalanine to a 17-membered lactam, using cross-metathesis with an E-alkene favored in the process. The best coupling conditions gave the product in 48% yield. The reversibility of the process was also confirmed.
