In this paper, we consider initial boundary value problem of the generalized Boussinesq equation with nonlinear interior source and boundary absorptive terms. We establish firstly the local existence of solutions by standard Galerkin method. Then we prove both the global existence of the solution and a general decay of the energy functions under some restrictions on the initial data. We also prove a blow-up result for solutions with positive and negative initial energy respectively.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the initial boundary value problems for a nonlinear time-dependent Schrödinger equation with Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions, respectively. We prove the existence and uniqueness of solutions of the initial boundary value problems by using Galerkin’s method.  相似文献

In this work we consider the first boundary value problem for a parabolic equation of second order with a small parameter on a half-axis (i.e., we consider the one-dimensional case). We take the zero initial condition. We construct the global (that is, the caustic points are taken into account) asymptotics of a solution for the boundary value problem. The asymptotic solution of this problem has a different structure depending on the sign of the coefficient (the drift coefficient) at the derivative of first order at a boundary point. The constructed asymptotic solutions are justified.  相似文献

For a coupled nonlinear singular system of thermoelasticity with one space dimension, we consider its initial boundary value problem on an interval. For one of the unknowns a classical condition is replaced by a nonlocal constraint of integral type. Because of the presence of a memory term in one of the equations and the presence of a weighted boundary integral condition, the solution requires a delicate set of techniques. We first solve a particular case of the given nonlinear problem by using a functional analysis approach. On the basis of the results obtained and an iteration method we establish the well-posedness of solutions in weighted Sobolev spaces.  相似文献

We develop a theory of both linear and nonlinear heat equations in the weighted Lebesgue spaces , where is the distance to the boundary. In particular, we prove an optimal estimate for the heat semigroup, and we establish sharp results on local existence-uniqueness and local nonexistence of solutions for semilinear heat equations with initial values in those spaces. This theory enables us to obtain new types of results concerning positive global solutions of superlinear parabolic problems. Namely, under certain assumptions, we prove that any global solution is uniformly bounded for by a universal constant, independent of the initial data. In all previous results, the bounds for global solutions were depending on the initial data. Received March 15, 2000 / Accepted October 18, 2000 / Published online February 5, 2001  相似文献

In this paper, we study the asymptotic relation between the solutions to the initial boundary value problem of the one-dimensional compressible full Navier-Stokes equations with outflow boundary condition and the associated Euler equations. We assume all the three characteristics to the corresponding Euler equations are all negative up to some small time, then we prove the existence and the stability of the boundary layers as long as the strength of the boundary layers is suitably small.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the properties of solutions to a degenerate parabolic equation with variable density and absorption. We first obtain a critical exponent, which distinguishes the localization of solutions from the positivity of them. When positivity prevails, we obtain the other critical exponent with respect to the decay of the variable density, which separates the global existence of interfaces from the disappearance of them. Moreover, the long time behavior of interfaces is characterized.  相似文献

We consider the porous medium equation with sign changes. In particular this equation describes the mixing of fresh and salt groundwater due to mechanical dispersion. The unknown function u, which denotes the velocity of the fluids, may take positive as well as negative values. Our main result is the following : under certain monotonicity hypotheses on the initial function, there exists a time T> 0 after which the regions where u < 0 and u > 0 are separated by an interface x = ζ(t) such that ζ is continuously differentiable on [T,∞]. The method of proof is based on a priori estimates for solutions of regularized problems and for their level lines  相似文献

Evolving convex curves   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5
We consider the behaviour of convex curves undergoing curvature-driven motion. In particular we describe the long-term behaviour of solutions and properties of limiting shapes, and prove existence of unique solutions from singular or non-strictly convex initial curves, with sharp regularity estimates. In this paper, we study the existence and nonlinear stability of the totally characteristic boundary layer for the quasilinear equations with positive definite viscosity matrix under the assumption that the boundary matrix vanishes identically on the boundary x=0. We carry out a series of weighted estimates to the boundary layer equations—Prandtl type equations to get the regularity and the far field behavior of the solutions. This allows us to perform a weighted energy estimate for the error equation to prove the stability of the boundary layers. The stability result finally implies the asymptotic limit of the viscous solutions.  相似文献

In the simplest case of a linearly degenerate mobility, we view the thin-film equation as a classical free boundary problem. Our focus is on the regularity of solutions and of their free boundary in the “complete wetting” regime, which prescribes zero slope at the free boundary. In order to rule out of the analysis possible changes in the topology of the positivity set, we zoom into the free boundary by looking at perturbations of the stationary solution. Our strategy is based on a priori energy-type estimates which provide “minimal” conditions on the initial datum under which a unique global solution exists. In fact, this solution turns out to be smooth for positive times and to converge to the stationary solution for large times. As a consequence, we obtain smoothness and large-time behavior of the free boundary.  相似文献

We show the short‐time existence and uniqueness of solutions for the motion of an evolving hypersurface in contact with a solid container driven by the volume‐preserving mean curvature flow (MCF) taking line tension effects on the boundary into account. Difficulties arise due to dynamic boundary conditions and due to the contact angle and the non‐local nature of the resulting second order, nonlinear PDE. In addition, we prove the same result for the Willmore flow with line tension, which results in a nonlinear PDE of fourth order. For both flows we will use a curvilinear cordinate system due to Vogel to write the flows as graphs over a fixed reference hypersurface.  相似文献

This paper studies heat equations with inner absorptions and coupled boundary fluxes of mixed-type nonlinearities. At first, the critical exponent is obtained, and simply described via a characteristic algebraic system introduced by us. Then, as the main results of the paper, three blow-up rates are established under different dominations of nonlinearities for the one-dimensional case, and represented in another characteristic algebraic system. In particular, it is observed that unlike those in previous literature on parabolic models with absorptions, two of the multiple blow-up rates obtained here do depend on the absorption exponents. In the known works, the absorptions affect the blow-up criteria, the blow-up time, as well as the initial data required for the blow-up of solutions, all without changing the blow-up rates. To our knowledge, this is the first example of absorption-dependent blow-up rates, exploiting the significant interactions among diffusions, inner absorptions and nonlinear boundary fluxes in the coupled system. It is also proved that the blow-up of solutions in the model occurs on the boundary only.  相似文献

We consider an Allen-Cahn type equation of the form utu+ε−2fε(x,t,u), where ε is a small parameter and fε(x,t,u)=f(u)−εgε(x,t,u) a bistable nonlinearity associated with a double-well potential whose well-depths can be slightly unbalanced. Given a rather general initial data u0 that is independent of ε, we perform a rigorous analysis of both the generation and the motion of interface. More precisely we show that the solution develops a steep transition layer within the time scale of order ε2|lnε|, and that the layer obeys the law of motion that coincides with the formal asymptotic limit within an error margin of order ε. This is an optimal estimate that has not been known before for solutions with general initial data, even in the case where gε≡0.Next we consider systems of reaction-diffusion equations of the form

This paper deals with a semilinear parabolic system with coupled nonlinear nonlocal sources subject to weighted nonlocal Dirichlet boundary conditions. We establish the conditions for global and non-global solutions. It is interesting to observe that the weight functions for the nonlocal Dirichlet boundary conditions play substantial roles in determining not only whether the solutions are global or non-global, but also whether (for the non-global solutions) the blowing up occurs for any positive initial data or just for large ones.  相似文献

We show that the initial boundary value problem for the diffusion equation uL ?(ux)x with bounded Neumann boundary conditions has at most one smooth solutions on the infinite cylinder provided the nonmonotonic function ? is piecewise continuously differentiable on the reals has at most finitely many extreme values on any bounded interval, satisfies the coercivity condition s?(s) ≤ cs2, c < 0 and has a derivative which is nonzero almost everywhere. In particular this result provides uniquencess for the model cubic ?(s)=s3 /3-3s2/2+2s proposed by Hölling and Nohel  相似文献

We discuss the possible candidates for conformally invariant random non-self-crossing curves which begin and end on the boundary of a multiply connected planar domain, and which satisfy a Markovian-type property. We consider both, the case when the curve connects a boundary component to itself (chordal), and the case when the curve connects two different boundary components (bilateral). We establish appropriate extensions of Loewner’s equation to multiply connected domains for the two cases. We show that a curve in the domain induces a motion on the boundary and that this motion is enough to first recover the motion of the moduli of the domain and then, second, the curve in the interior. For random curves in the interior we show that the induced random motion on the boundary is not Markov if the domain is multiply connected, but that the random motion on the boundary together with the random motion of the moduli forms a Markov process. In the chordal case, we show that this Markov process satisfies Brownian scaling and discuss how this limits the possible conformally invariant random non-self-crossing curves. We show that the possible candidates are labeled by two functions, one homogeneous of degree zero, the other homogeneous of degree minus one, which describes the interaction of the random curve with the boundary. We show that the random curve has the locality property for appropriate choices of the interaction term. The research of the first author was supported by NSA grant H98230-04-1-0039. In this paper we study a simple non-local semilinear parabolic equation in a bounded domain with Neumann boundary conditions. We obtain a global existence result for initial data whose LL-norm is less than a constant depending explicitly on the geometry of the domain. A natural energy is associated to the equation and we establish a relationship between the finite-time blow up of solutions and the negativity of their energy. The proof of this result is based on a Gamma-convergence technique.  相似文献

We bound the modulus of continuity of solutions to quasilinear parabolic equations in one space variable in terms of the initial modulus of continuity and elapsed time. In particular we characterize those equations for which the Lipschitz constants of solutions can be bounded in terms of their initial oscillation and elapsed time.  相似文献
