The Ising model in the presence of a random field, drawn from the asymmetric and anisotropic trimodal probability distribution P(hi)=pδ(hih0)+qδ(hi+λ∗h0)+rδ(hi)P(hi)=pδ(hih0)+qδ(hi+λh0)+rδ(hi), is investigated. The partial probabilities p,q,rp,q,r take on values within the interval [0,1][0,1] consistent with the constraint p+q+r=1p+q+r=1; asymmetric distribution, hihi is the random field variable with basic absolute value h0h0 (strength); λλ is the competition parameter, which is the ratio between the respective strength of the random magnetic field in the two principal directions (+z)(+z) and (−z)(z) and is positive so that the random fields are competing, anisotropic distribution. This probability distribution is an extension of the bimodal one allowing for the existence in the lattice of non magnetic particles or vacant sites. The current random field Ising system displays mainly second order phase transitions, which, for some values of p,qp,q and h0h0, are followed by first order phase transitions joined smoothly by a tricritical point; occasionally, two tricritical points appear implying another second order phase transition. In addition to these points, re-entrant phenomena can be seen for appropriate ranges of the temperature and random field for specific values of λλ, pp and qq. Using the variational principle, we write down the equilibrium equation for the magnetization and solve it for both phase transitions and at the tricritical point in order to determine the magnetization profile with respect to h0h0, considered as an independent variable in addition to the temperature.  相似文献

The Ising model in the presence of a random field is investigated within the mean field approximation based on Landau expansion. The random field is drawn from the trimodal probability distribution P(hi)=pδ(hih0)+qδ(hi+h0)+rδ(hi), where the probabilities p,q,r take on values within the interval [0,1] consistent with the constraint p+q+r=1 (asymmetric distribution), hi is the random field variable and h0 the respective strength. This probability distribution is an extension of the bimodal one allowing for the existence in the lattice of non magnetic particles or vacant sites. The current random field Ising system displays second order phase transitions, which, for some values of p,q and h0, are followed by first order phase transitions, thus confirming the existence of a tricritical point and in some cases two tricritical points. Also, reentrance can be seen for appropriate ranges of the aforementioned variables. Using the variational principle, we determine the equilibrium equation for magnetization, solve it for both transitions and at the tricritical point in order to determine the magnetization profile with respect to h0.  相似文献

The Ising model, in the presence of a random field, is investigated within the mean-field approximation based on Landau expansion. The random field is drawn from the bimodal probability distribution P(h)=pδ(hh0)+(1−p)δ(h+h0), where the probability p assumes any value within the interval [0,1], asymmetric distribution. The prevailing transitions are of second-order but, for some values of p and h0, first-order phase transitions take place for smaller temperatures and higher h0, thus confirming the existence of a tricritical point. Also, the possible reentrant phenomena in the phase diagram (Th0 plane) occur for appropriate values of p and h0. Using the variational principle, we determine the equilibrium equation for magnetization and solve it for both transitions and at the tricritical point in order to determine the magnetization profile with respect to h0.  相似文献

In this letter, we study the behavior of the random field Ising model on a honeycomb lattice by means of the effective field theory. We obtain the phase diagram in the TT–HH plane for clusters with one spin in a finite size cluster scheme and it is observed the absence of a tricritical point.  相似文献

We apply the Wang-Landau method to the study of the critical behavior of the three-dimensional random field Ising model with a bimodal probability distribution. For high values of the random field intensity we find that the energy probability distribution at the transition temperature is double peaked, suggesting that the phase transition is of first order. On the other hand, the transition looks continuous for low values of the field intensity. In spite of the large sample to sample fluctuations observed, the double peak in the probability distribution is always present for high fields.  相似文献

Phase diagram and thermodynamic parameters of the random field Ising model (RFIM) on spherical lattice are studied by using mean field theory. This lattice is placed in an external magnetic field (B). The random field (hi) is assumed to be Gaussian distributed with zero mean and a variance  相似文献

On the mean-field Ising model in a random external field   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We use a method developed by van Hemmen to obtain the free energy of the mean-field Ising model in a random external magnetic field. Some results of previous mean-field calculations are confirmed and generalized. The tricritical point in the global phase diagram is discussed in detail. We also consider different probability distributions of the random fields and provide some proofs regarding the conditions for the existence of a tricritical point.  相似文献

Recently,Shi et al.[2008 Phys.Lett.A 372 5922] have studied the dynamical response of the kinetic Ising model in the presence of a sinusoidal oscillating field and presented the dynamic phase diagrams by using an effective-field theory(EFT) and a mean-field theory(MFT).The MFT results are in conflict with those of the earlier work of Tom’e and de Oliveira,[1990 Phys.Rev.A 41 4251].We calculate the dynamic phase diagrams and find that our results are similar to those of the earlier work of Tom’e and de Oliveira;hence the dynamic phase diagrams calculated by Shi et al.are incomplete within both theories, except the low values of frequencies for the MFT calculation. We also investigate the influence of external field frequency(ω) and static external field amplitude(h0) for both MFT and EFT calculations. We find that the behaviour of the system strongly depends on the values of ω and h0.  相似文献

An effective-field theory with correlations has been used to study critical behaviors of a mixed spin-1 and spin-2 Ising system on a honeycomb and square lattices in the absence and presence of a longitudinal magnetic field. The ground-state phase diagram of the model is obtained in the longitudinal magnetic field (h) and a single-ion potential or crystal-field interaction (Δ) plane. The thermal behavior of the sublattice magnetizations of the system are investigated to characterize the nature of (continuous and discontinuous) of the phase transitions and obtain the phase transition temperature. The phase diagrams are presented in the (Δ/|J|, kBT/|J|) plane. The susceptibility, internal energy and specific heat of the system are numerically examined and some interesting phenomena in these quantities are found due to the absence and presence of the applied longitudinal magnetic field. Moreover, the system undergoes second- and first-order phase transition; hence, the system gives a tricritical point. The system also exhibits reentrant behavior.  相似文献

An algorithm for the simulation of the 3-dimensional random field Ising model with a binary distribution of the random fields is presented. It uses multi-spin coding and simulates 64 physically different systems simultaneously. On one processor of a Cray YMP it reaches a speed of 184 million spin updates per second. For smaller field strength we present a version of the algorithm that can perform 242 million spin updates per second on the same machine.  相似文献

We demonstrate that there is an intimate relationship between the magnetic properties of Derrida’s random energy model (REM) of spin glasses and the problem of joint source-channel coding in Information Theory. In particular, typical patterns of erroneously decoded messages in the coding problem have “magnetization” properties that are analogous to those of the REM in certain phases, where the non-uniformity of the distribution of the source in the coding problem plays the role of an external magnetic field applied to the REM. We also relate the ensemble performance (random coding exponents) of joint source-channel codes to the free energy of the REM in its different phases.  相似文献

An Ising effective field theory model is presented to calculate the magnetic properties of 2D nano-islands on a nonmagnetic substrate, subject to an externally out-of-plane applied magnetic field. The system Hamiltonian contains nearest neighbor exchange interactions, single-atom magnetic anisotropies, and the Zeeman term. The calculations yield, in particular, the single site spin correlations, the magnetizations, and the isothermal susceptibilities, for the core and periphery domains of the nano-island. The choice of a spin S=1 for the atoms of the system permits the analysis of local spin fluctuations via the single site spin correlations. We investigate in this respect the effects due to the different magnetocrystalline anisotropies and reduced dimensionalities, for the core and periphery domains, and in particular the critical influence of the applied magnetic field. Detailed theoretical results are presented for the square and hexagonal lattice symmetries, with numerical applications for the 2D monolayer Co nano-islands on a Pt substrate. It is shown that the remarkable differences between the magnetic properties of the core and periphery domains in zero field are washed out when an out-of-plane field is applied. The applied field also provokes critical discontinuities for the spin correlations and magnetization reversals, for the core and periphery domains, which are especially evident for the hexagonal lattice nano-island in the range of fields of interest. The discontinuities and magnetization reversals occur over elementary temperature widths, and shift to lower temperatures with increasing field. The field-dependant isothermal susceptibilities show new features very different from those for the susceptibilities in zero field. The present Ising model does not show any blocking temperature transition to superparamagnetism.  相似文献

A Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) has been used to study critical behavior and magnetic properties of a decorated Ising film on a cubic lattice structure. The system consists of two magnetic atoms species A and B with and , where the B sites decorate the bonds between A sites. The dependence of the phase diagram on the axial zero-field splitting parameter, the exchange interactions and the thickness of the film are studied. We found that the system exhibits a double reentrant phenomenon and one or two compensation points. MCS results are compared to those obtained by using the effective field theory (EFT) based on the use of a probability distribution technique. However, MCS predicts the same topology of the phase diagrams as the effective field theory.  相似文献

In this work, the magnetic properties of the single layer Ising nanogaphene (SLING) are investigated by using Kaneyoshi approach (KA) within the effective field theory for different spin orientations of its magnetic atoms. We find that the magnetizations of the SLING has no phase transition, certain Curie temperature and distinct peak of susceptibility at Tc for the some spin orientations at the zero external magnetic field (H=0.0). Because these behaviors occur at H≠0.0, we suggest that the SLING generates an external magnetic field and behaves as an external magnetic field generator for these spin orientations. However, the SLING exhibits ferromagnetic behaviors for only one spin orientations. But, it exhibits antiferromagnetic behaviors for the others. For the AFM cases, diamagnetic susceptibility behaviors and type II superconductivity hysteresis behaviors are obtained. We hope that these results can open a door to obtain new class of single layer graphene and graphene-based magnetic field generator devices with the spin orientation effect.  相似文献

A bilayer spin-1/2 Ising model consisting of two superposed Bethe lattices with antiferromagnetic/ferromagnetic interactions is studied by the use of exact recursion relations in a pairwise approach in the presence of an external staggered magnetic field. Besides the ground state phase diagrams calculated in different possible planes of the model parameters space, the thermal variations of the order-parameters and the free energy are investigated to obtain the temperature-dependent phase diagrams of the model for different values of the coordination numbers q. Our calculations reveal that depending on the strength of the model parameters, the model exhibits a variety of interesting phase transitions and therefore phase diagrams.  相似文献

The bimodal random crystal field (A) effects are investigated on the phase diagrams of spin-3/2 Ising model by using the effective-field theory with correlations based on two approximations: the general van der Waerden identity and the approximated van der Waerden identity. In our approach, the crystal field is either turned on or turned off randomly for a given probability p or q = 1 -p, respectively. Then the phase diagrams are constructed on the (A,kT/J) and (p,kT/J) planes for given p and A, respectively, when the coordination number is z = 3. Furthermore, the effect of randomization of the crystal field is illustrated on the (△,kT/J) plane for p = 0.5 when z - 3,4, and 6. All these are carried out for both approximations and then the results are compared to point out the differences. In addition to the lines of second-order phase transitions, the model also exhibits first-order phase transitions and the lines of which terminate at the isolated critical points for high p values.  相似文献

An effective-field theory with correlations is developed for a mixed spin-1 and spin-3/2 Ising system with two alternative layers of a honeycomb lattice. Spin-1 atoms and spin-3/2 atoms are distributed in alternative layers of a honeycomb lattice. We consider that the nearest-neighbor spins of each layer are coupled ferromagnetically and the interaction between the vertically aligned spins and adjacent spins are coupled either ferromagnetically or antiferromagnetically depending on the sign of the bilinear exchange interactions. We investigate the temperature dependence of the total magnetization to find the compensation points and to determine the type of compensation behavior. We present the phase diagrams in different planes for h=0, and the phase diagrams contain the paramagnetic, nonmagnetic and ferrimagnetic phases. The system also presents a tricritical behavior besides multicritical point (A), isolated critical point (C) and double critical end point (B) depending on the interaction parameters.  相似文献

The properties of the ground state in the spin-2 transverse Ising model with the presence of a crystal field are studied by using the effective-field theory with correlations. The longitudinal and transverse magnetizations, the phase diagram and the internal energy in the ground state are given numerically for a honeycomb lattice (z=3).  相似文献
