We consider the existence of Moufang sets related to certain groups of mixed type. This way, we obtain new examples of Moufang sets and new constructions of known classes. The most interesting class of new examples is related to the Moufang quadrangles of type and to the Ree–Tits octagon over a nonperfect field, and the root groups of each member have nilpotency class three.  相似文献

A honeycomb of type {3, 5, 3} is finite when it has Petrie polygons of length 4, 6, 7 or 9. In these cases its group of automorphisms is isomorphic to PSL(2, 9), PSL(2, 11)×2, PSL(2, 29) or PSL(2, 19). This paper investigates the Lipschitz equivalence of generalized {1,3,5}-{1,4,5} self-similar sets D=(r_1D)∪(r_2D (1 r_1-r_2-r_3)/2)∪(r_3D 1 r_3) and E=(r_1E)∪(r_2E 1-r_2- r_3)∪(r_3E 1-r_3),and proves that D and E are Lipschitz equivalent if and only if there are positive integers m and n such that r_1~m=r_3~n.  相似文献

We show that if A is a closed analytic subset of \mathbbPn{\mathbb{P}^n} of pure codimension q then Hi(\mathbbPn\ A,F){H^i(\mathbb{P}^n{\setminus} A,{\mathcal F})} are finite dimensional for every coherent algebraic sheaf F{{\mathcal F}} and every i 3 n-[\fracn-1q]{i\geq n-\left[\frac{n-1}{q}\right]} . If n-1 3 2q we show that Hn-2(\mathbbPn\ A,F)=0{n-1\geq 2q\,{\rm we show that}\, H^{n-2}(\mathbb{P}^n{\setminus} A,{\mathcal F})=0} .  相似文献

We give a simple criterion which determines when a permutation group U and one additional permutation give rise to a Moufang set. We apply this criterion to show that every Jordan division algebra gives rise in a very natural way to a Moufang set, to provide sufficient conditions for a Moufang set to arise from a Jordan division algebra and to give a characterization of the projective Moufang sets over a commutative field of characteristic different from 2. We consider the (pure) braid groups $B_{n}(M)$ and $P_{n}(M)$ , where $M$ is the $2$ -sphere $\mathbb S ^{2}$ or the real projective plane $\mathbb R P^2$ . We determine the minimal cardinality of (normal) generating sets $X$ of these groups, first when there is no restriction on $X$ , and secondly when $X$ consists of elements of finite order. This improves on results of Berrick and Matthey in the case of $\mathbb S ^{2}$ , and extends them in the case of $\mathbb R P^2$ . We begin by recalling the situation for the Artin braid groups ( $M=\mathbb{D }^{2}$ ). As applications of our results, we answer the corresponding questions for the associated mapping class groups, and we show that for $M=\mathbb S ^{2}$ or $\mathbb R P^2$ , the induced action of $B_n(M)$ on $H_3(\widetilde{F_n(M)};\mathbb{Z })$ is trivial, $F_{n}(M)$ being the $n^\mathrm{th}$ configuration space of $M$ .  相似文献

We consider the groups ${\mathrm{Diff }}_\mathcal{B }(\mathbb{R }^n)$ , ${\mathrm{Diff }}_{H^\infty }(\mathbb{R }^n)$ , and ${\mathrm{Diff }}_{\mathcal{S }}(\mathbb{R }^n)$ of smooth diffeomorphisms on $\mathbb{R }^n$ which differ from the identity by a function which is in either $\mathcal{B }$ (bounded in all derivatives), $H^\infty = \bigcap _{k\ge 0}H^k$ , or $\mathcal{S }$ (rapidly decreasing). In this paper we study a family of scattered $\mathbb{F}_{q}$ -linear sets of rank tn of the projective space PG(2n?1,q t ) (n≥1, t≥3), called of pseudoregulus type, generalizing results contained in Lavrauw and van de Voorde, Des. Codes Crypt. 20(1) (2013) and in Marino et al. J. Combin. Theory, Ser. A 114:769–788 (2007). As an application, we characterize, in terms of the associated linear sets, some classical families of semifields: the Generalized Twisted Fields and the 2-dimensional Knuth semifields.  相似文献
