Inclusive cross-sections for gluon jet production are studied numerically in the perturbative QCD pomeron model for pA and central AA collisions at high energies. Two forms for the inclusive cross-sections, with and without emission from the triple pomeron vertex, are compared. The difference was found to reduce to a numerical factor for momenta below the saturation momentum Q s. Above Q s no difference was found at all. For pA collisions the gluon spectrum was found to be at momenta k below Q s and above it. For central AA collisions it was found to be at momenta k below Q s and above it. At large k the spectrum goes like , flattening with energy. The multiplicities turned out to be proportional to A 0.7 for pA collisions and A for central AA collisions with a good precision. In the latter case they are becoming more peaked at the center with the growth of energy. Their absolute values are high and grow rapidly with energy in accordance with the high value of the BFKL intercept.Received: 12 October 2004, Revised: 22 November 2004, Published online: 21 January 2005  相似文献

The conditions for the existence of discrete breathers (DBs) in biatomic crystals of AB and A 3 B composition are established, and their properties are studied by means of molecular mechanics using the examples of CuAu and Pt3Al, respectively. The phonon spectra of the crystals are analyzed, and a gap in the phonon spectrum of CuAu is obtained via considerable homogeneous elastic strain. There is a gap in the phonon spectrum of the Pt3Al crystal at zero strain, due to the considerable difference between the atomic weights of its components. The frequencies at which discrete breathers can exist in the considered crystals are determined. The energy localized on different types of DBs is estimated. The propagation of a current pulse through Pt3Al resulting in the excitation of DBs with mild nonlinearity is simulated.  相似文献

We construct correlators in the W 4 Toda 2d conformal field theory for a particular class of representations and demonstrate a relation to a W 2 (Virasoro) theory with different central charge. The relevance of the classical limits of the constructed 3-point functions and braiding matrices to problems in 4d conformal theories is discussed.  相似文献

Necessary and sufficient conditions to the existence of a hermitian connection with totally skew-symmetric torsion and holonomy contained in SU(3) are given. A formula for the Riemannian scalar curvature is obtained. Non-compact solution to the supergravity-type I equations of motion with non-zero flux and non-constant dilaton is found in dimension 6. Non-conformally flat non-compact solutions to the supergravity-type I equations of motion with non-zero flux and non-constant dilaton are found in dimensions 7 and 8. A Riemannian metric with holonomy contained in G2 arises from our considerations and Hitchin’s flow equations, which seems to be new. Compact examples of SU(3),G2 and Spin(7) instanton satisfying the anomaly cancellation conditions are presented.  相似文献

In this paper, three methods for describing the conformal transformations of the S-matrix in quantum field theory are proposed. They are illustrated by applying the algebraic renormalization procedure to the quantum scalar field theory, defined by the LSZ reduction mechanism in the BPHZ renormalization scheme. Central results are shown to be independent of scheme choices and derived to all orders in loop expansions. Firstly, the local Callan-Symanzik equation is constructed, in which the insertion of the trace of the energy-momentum tensor is related to the beta function and the anomalous dimension. With this result, the Ward identities for the conformal transformations of the Green functions are derived. Then the conformal transformations of the S-matrix defined by the LSZ reduction procedure are calculated. Secondly, the conformal transformations of the S-matrix in the functional formalism are related to charge constructions. The commutators between the charges and the S-matrix operator are written in a compact way to represent the conformal transformations of the S-matrix. Lastly, the massive scalar field theory with local coupling is introduced in order to control breaking of the conformal invariance further. The conformal transformations of the S-matrix with local coupling are calculatedReceived: 3 June 2003, Revised: 24 July 2003, Published online: 2 October 2003Yong Zhang: Supported by Graduiertenkolleg Quantenfeldtheorie: Mathematische Struktur und physikalische Anwendungen, University Leipzig.  相似文献

We formally discuss the post-Minkowskian limit of f(R)-gravity without adopting conformal transformations but developing all the calculations in the original Jordan frame. It is shown that such an approach gives rise, in general, together with the standard massless graviton, to massive scalar modes whose masses are directly related to the analytic parameters of the theory. In this sense, the presence of massless gravitons only is a peculiar feature of General Relativity. This fact is never stressed enough and could have dramatic consequences in detection of gravitational waves. Finally the role of curvature stress-energy tensor of f(R)-gravity is discussed showing that it generalizes the so called Landau-Lifshitz tensor of General Relativity. The further degrees of freedom, giving rise to the massive modes, are directly related to the structure of such a tensor.  相似文献

The hierarchical structure of fermion masses of the Standard Model is explained in split fermion models by localizing the fermions at different points in an extra dimension. We consider split fermion models with two bulk scalars compactified on an orbifold. In the static case we find analytical expression for the localizer. We also address the issue of stability of the localizer. We also find exact solutions for the fermion zero modes. We explore the parameter space of the model. We find ample opportunity for construction of phenomenologically viable theories exist.  相似文献

Recent results from OKA setup concerning form factor studies in Ke3 decay are presented. About 5.25 M events obtained for decays of 17.7 GeV/cK+ are selected for the analysis. The linear and quadratic slopes for the decay form factor f+(t) are measured: λ'+ = 2.95 ± 0.022 ± 0.018 × 10 -2 for the linear slope fit and λ+ = 2.611 ± 0.035 ± 0.028 × 10 -2, λ"+ = 1.91 ± 0.19 ± 0.14 × 10 -3 for the quadratic one. The scalar and tensor contributions are compatible with zero. Several alternative parametrizations are tried: the Pole fit parameter is found to be M V = 891 ± 3 MeV; the parameter of the dispersive parametrization is measured to be Λ+ = 2.458 ± 0.018 × 10-2.  相似文献

We present selected recent results of multi-hadron correlation measurements in azimuth and pseudorapidity at intermediate and high p T in Au+Au collisions at , from the STAR experiment at RHIC. At intermediate p T , measurements are presented that attempt to determine the origin of the associated near-side (small Δφ) yield at large pseudo-rapidity difference Δη that is found to be present in heavy ion collisions. In addition, results are reported on new multi-hadron correlation measures at high-p T that use di-hadron triggers and multi-hadron cluster triggers with the goal to constrain the underlying jet kinematics better than in the existing measurements of inclusive spectra and di-hadron correlations.  相似文献

The present work includes an analytical investigation of a collapsing spherical star in f(R) gravity. The interior of the collapsing star admits a conformal flatness. Information regarding the fate of the collapse is extracted from the matching conditions of the extrinsic curvature and the Ricci curvature scalar across the boundary hypersurface of the star. The radial distribution of the physical quantities such as density, anisotropic pressure and radial heat flux are studied. The inhomogeneity of the collapsing interior leads to a non-zero acceleration. The divergence of this acceleration and the loss of energy through a heat conduction forces the rate of the collapse to die down and the formation of a zero proper volume singularity is realized only asymptotically.  相似文献

It is believed that soon after the Planck time, Einstein’s general relativity theory should be corrected to an effective quadratic theory. Numerical solutions for the anisotropic generalization of the Friedmann “open” model H 3 for this effective gravity are given. It must be emphasized that although numeric, these solutions are exact in the sense that they depend only on the precision of the machine. The solutions are identified asymptotically in a certain way. It is found solutions which asymptote de Sitter space, Riemann flat space and a singularity. The question of isotropisation of an initially anisotropic Universe is of great importance in the context of cosmology. Although isotropisation is not directly discussed in this present work, we show that sufficiently small anisotropies, do not increase indefinitely according to particular quadratic gravity theories. It can be understood as weak isotropisation, and we stress that this result is strongly dependent on initial conditions.  相似文献

The 1/N c -power countings for baryon decays and configuration mixings are determined by means of a nonrelativistic quark picture. Such countings are expected to be robust under changes in the quark masses and, therefore, valid as these become light. It is shown that excited baryons have natural widths of \(\mathcal{O}(N_c^0 )\). These dominant widths are due to the decays that proceed directly to the ground-state baryons, with cascade decays being suppressed to \(\mathcal{O}(1/N_c )\). Configuration mixings, defined as mixings between states belonging to different O(3) × SU(2N f ) multiplets, are shown to be subleading in an expansion in \(1/\sqrt {N_c }\) when they involve the ground-state baryons, while the mixings between excited states can be \(\mathcal{O}(N_c^0 )\).  相似文献

In this paper, we consider F(R)=R+f(R) theory instead of Einstein gravity with conformal anomaly and look for its analytical solutions. Depending on the free parameters, one may obtain both uncharged and charged solutions for some classes of F(R) models. Calculation of Kretschmann scalar shows that there is a singularity located at r=0. The geometry of uncharged (charged) solution corresponds to the Schwarzschild (Reissner–Nordström) singularity. Further, we discuss the viability of our models in detail. We show that these models can be stable, depending on their parameters and in different epochs of the universe.  相似文献

We continue to study a special class of Passarino-Veltman functions J arising at the reduction of infrared divergent box diagrams. We describe a procedure of separation of two types of singularities, infrared and mass singularities, which are absorbed in simple C 0 functions. The infrared divergences of C 0’s can be regularized then by any method: photon mass, dimensionally or by the width of an unstable particle. Functions D 0 are represented as certain linear combinations of the standard C 0 Passarino-Veltman functions and infrared finite functions J. Then mass singularities are extracted from J to other combinations of C 0. The rests are free of both types of singularities and are expressed as explicit and compact linear combination of logarithms and dilogarithm functions. The extensive comparison of numerical results with those obtained with the aid of the Loop Tools package is presented.  相似文献

Results on high-p T probes shown at the Hard Probes 2008 Conference are summarized, with an appreciation of the improvements in precision of the measurements and experimental techniques since the beginning of RHIC operation. Particular attention is given to the latest measurements of the nuclear modification factor of identified particles, photon-hadron correlation measurements, and full jet reconstruction.  相似文献

We construct a 3+-summable spectral triple over the quantum group SUq(2) which is equivariant with respect to a left and a right action of The geometry is isospectral to the classical case since the spectrum of the operator D is the same as that of the usual Dirac operator on the 3-dimensional round sphere. The presence of an equivariant real structure J demands a modification in the axiomatic framework of spectral geometry, whereby the commutant and first-order properties need be satisfied only modulo infinitesimals of arbitrary high order.Partially supported by Polish State Committee for Scientific Research (KBN) under grant 2 P03B 022 25.Regular Associate of the Abdus Salam ICTP, Trieste.  相似文献

Motivated by recent experimental results and ongoing measurements, we review the chiral perturbation theory prediction for decays. Special emphasis is given to the stability of the inner bremsstrahlung-dominated relative branching ratio versus the K e3 form factors, and on the separation of the structure-dependent amplitude in differential distributions over the phase space. For the structure-dependent terms, an assessment of the order p 6 corrections is given, in particular, a full next-to-leading order calculation of the axial component is performed. The experimental analysis of the photon energy spectrum is discussed, and other potentially useful distributions are introduced.Received: 9 December 2004, Published online: 21 February 2005PACS: 13.20.Eb, 11.30.Rd, 12.39.Fe  相似文献

One of the well-known effects of the asymptotic freedom is splitting of the leading-log BFKL pomeron into a series of isolated poles in complex angular momentum plane. Following our earlier works we explore the phenomenological consequences of the emerging BFKL-Regge factorized expansion for the small-x charm (F 2 c ) and beauty (F 2 b ) structure functions of the proton. As we found earlier, the colordipole approach to the BFKL dynamics predicts uniquely decoupling of subleading hard BFKL exchanges from F 2 c at moderately large Q 2. We predicted precocious BFKL asymptotics of F 2 c (x,Q 2) with intercept of the rightmost BFKL pole α P(0) − 1 = ΔP ≈ 0.4. High-energy open beauty photo- and electroproduction probes the vacuum exchange at much smaller distances and detects significant corrections to the BFKL asymptotics coming from the subleading vacuum poles. In view of the accumulation of the experimental data on small −x F 2 c and F 2 b we extended our early predictions to the kinematical domain covered by new HERA measurements. Our structure functions obtained in 1999 agree well with the determination of both F 2 c and F 2 b by the H1 published in 2006 but contradict very recent (2008, preliminary)H1 results on F 2 b . We present also comparison of our early predictions for the longitudinal structure function F L with recent H1 data (2008) taken at very low Bjorken x. We comment on the electromagnetic corrections to the Okun-Pomeranchuk theorem.  相似文献

We show that our construction of realizations for algebras and quantum algebras can be generalized to quantum superalgebras too. We studyan example of quantum superalgebra U q (osp(1/2)) and give the boson-fermion realization with respect to one pair of q-boson operators and one pair of fermions.  相似文献
