TiO2 films were prepared by pulsed laser deposition using a metallic Ti target in an O2 gas ambient. The microstructure along with optical and photocatalytic properties of the deposited films were systematically studied by changing the deposition parameters and substrates. It was found that TiO2 films having nearly pure anatase phase grew effectively in O2 atmosphere. When the films were fabricated at a substrate temperature of 400°C, their phase structures were greatly affected by the O2 gas pressure, and nearly pure anatase phase with typical (101) and (004) peaks can be obtained under an O2 pressure of 15 Pa. For the deposition at 700°C, the crystal structure of the TiO2 films exhibited a strong anatase (004) peak and was inert to the oxygen pressures. Two modes, namely a substrate-temperature-controlled mode and an oxygen-pressure-controlled mode, were considered for the growth of the anatase TiO2 films under different substrate temperatures. In addition, the optical and photocatalytic properties were found to be sensitive to both the microstructure and grain size of the TiO2 films.  相似文献

Ferroelectric (Ba0.6Sr0.4)TiO3 (BST) thin films have been deposited by pulsed laser deposition onto single-crystal Y3Fe5O12 (YIG) substrates with/without a MgO buffer layer. The structure and microwave properties of the BST films have been investigated as a function of substrate orientation and O2 deposition pressures (50-800 mTorr). The crystallographic orientation of BST film varies with the deposition conditions. The dielectric properties of the ferroelectric were measured using interdigitated capacitors deposited on top of the BST film. BST films exhibit high tunability (20-40%) and high dielectric Q=1/cos' (30-50) with a dc bias field of 67 kV/cm at 10 GHz. A coplanar waveguide transmission line was fabricated from a (001)-oriented BST film on (111)YIG which exhibited a 17° differential phase shift with an applied dc bias field of 21 kV/cm (10 GHz). An equivalent differential phase shift was achieved with a magnetic field of 160 Gauss.  相似文献

Bi3.25La0.75 Ti3O12 (BLT) ferroelectric thin films are deposited by sol-gel method and annealed for crystallizaion in total l eccm N2/02 mixed gas with various ratio at 750℃ for 30rain. The effect of crystallization ambient on the structural and ferroelectric properties of the BLT films is studied. The growth direction and grain size of BLT film are revealed to affect ferroeleetric properties. Alter the BLT film is annealed in 20%O2, the largest P~ value is obtained, which is ascribed to an increase of random orientation and large grain size. The fatigue property is improved with the concentration of oxygen in the ambient increasing, which is ascribed to annealing in the ambient with high concentrated oxygen adequately decreasing the defects related to lack of oxygen.  相似文献

We investigated the structural properties of LaNiO3 thin films of three different thicknesses deposited by pulsed laser deposition on Si(001) mainly by using a synchrotron X-ray scattering measurement. The LaNiO3 thin films were grown with the (00l) preferred growth direction, showing completely random distribution in the in-plane direction. In the early stage of the growth, the film was almost unstrained. However, as the film grew further, tensile strain was markedly involved. Also its surface became rougher but its crystalline quality improved significantly with increasing film thickness. A completely (00l)-oriented (Pb0.4Zr0.6)TiO3 thin film was successfully grown on such a LaNiO3/Si(001) substrate at a substrate temperature of 350 °C by using the same pulsed laser deposition. Our results show that the LaNiO3 film can serve effectively as a bottom electrode layer for the preparation of a well-oriented (Pb0.4Zr0.6)TiO3 thin film on Si substrates.  相似文献

We report on the deposition of SrBi2Nb2O9 and Sr1-xNaxBi2-xTexNb2O9 ferroelectric thin films on Pt/TiO2/SiO2/(100)Si substrates using the pulsed laser deposition technique. Deposition on substrates heated to 600-700 °C produces {11l} film texture and dense films with grain sizes up to about 500 nm. The recrystallization at 700 °C of amorphous films deposited at lower temperatures enhances the contribution of the {100} and {010} orientations. These films show smaller grain size, namely 50-100 nm. {11l}-oriented Sr1-xNaxBi2-xTexNb2O9 films have remnant polarization Prۆ 7C/cm2, a coercive field Ec䏐 kV/cm and dielectric constant, )𪓴. The low value of Pr is probably related to the low fraction of grains with the ferroelectric axis in the direction of the applied field, E. The recrystallized films have more grains with the ferroelectric axis parallel to E; however, they have a low resistivity which so far has prevented electrical characterization.  相似文献

In this study, CdS thin films with thicknesses of approximately 100 nm were deposited at a substrate temperature of 100 °C by a sputtering technique under two different ambient conditions—pure Ar ambient and Ar/O2 (99:1) ambient—at deposition power densities of 1.0 and 2.0 W/cm2, respectively The films were polycrystalline with a preferential orientation along the (002) crystal plane; however, the films deposited in the Ar/O2 ambient exhibited reduced crystallinity. Furthermore, the crystallite sizes, micro-strains, and dislocation densities of the films were significantly affected by oxygen diffusion into the films’ crystal structures. The CdS films deposited in the Ar/O2 ambient demonstrated higher optical transmittance and higher bandgaps. Morphologies observed from scanning electron microscopy images revealed that the grains of the films were also significantly affected by the oxygen present in the deposition ambient. Additionally, photoluminescence analysis revealed that the sulfur vacancies in the CdS films were partially filled by oxygen atoms, causing significant variations in the electrical properties of the films.  相似文献

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) photocatalyst thin films were deposited on non-alkali glass substrates by radio frequency (rf) magnetron sputtering. The Taguchi method with orthogonal array, signal-to-noise ratio and analysis of variance were employed to study the performance characteristics. The experimental studies were conducted under different rf powers, sputtering pressures, O2/(Ar+O2) flow-rate ratios, and substrate temperatures. The deposited TiO2 films were of the anatase phase with a (101) preferred orientation. We performed both photoinduced decomposition of methylene blue (MB) and photoinduced hydrophilicity under UV light illumination. With the optimized TiO2 photocatalyst thin film deposition conditions, the water contact angle after 9 min UV illumination was approximately 5, the absorbance of MB was reduced to 0.2 for 240 min UV irradiation, and the deposition rate was 34.18 Å/min.  相似文献

TiO2 films deposited on unheated substrates of alumina silicate glass by rf. (13.56 MHz) magnetron sputtering in the mixture of O2 and Ar gases have been studied with X-ray diffraction (XRD), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and optical spectroscopy. Structural and optical properties of TiO2 films deposited at different O2 concentrations and total pressures have been analyzed. Photocatalytic properties of TiO2 films were characterized by following the degradation of methylene blue molecules under UV irradiation. It was found that the rate of methylene blue decomposition strongly depends on morphology and crystallinity of the deposited films, namely on the content of the anatase phase and on the size of the anatase grains. The best photocatalytic activity was found on TiO2 films consisting of pure anatase phase with the size of grains of about 450 Å. With the help of those films a thin film reactor for water purification has been designed and tested.  相似文献

Indium tin oxide (ITO) thin films (200-400 nm in thickness) have been grown by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) on glass substrates without a post-deposition anneal. The electrical and optical properties of these films have been investigated as a function of substrate temperature and oxygen partial pressure during deposition. Films were deposited at substrate temperatures ranging from room temperature to 300 °C in O2 partial pressures ranging from 0.1 to 100 mTorr. For 300 nm thick ITO films grown at room temperature in oxygen pressure of 10 mTorr, the electrical conductivity was 2.6᎒-3 Q-1cm-1 and the average optical transmittance was 83% in the visible range (400-700 nm). For 300 nm thick ITO films deposited at 300 °C in 10 mTorr of oxygen, the conductivity was 5.2᎒-3 Q-1cm-1 and the average transmittance in the visible range was 87%. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) measurements showed that the RMS surface roughness for the ITO films grown at room temperature was ~7 Å, which is the lowest reported value for the ITO films grown by any film growth technique at room temperature.  相似文献

Nanocomposite films formed by Cu nanocrystals (NCs) with sizes <10 nm embedded in an amorphous Al2O3 host have been grown by alternate pulsed-laser deposition both in vacuum and in a buffer gas (Ar) up to pressures of 0.1 Torr. The dimensions, dimension distributions, and shape of the NC produced in vacuum and in Ar up to pressures of 5᎒-3 Torr follow a similar trend as a function of the Cu areal density. This allows us to conclude that the nucleation and growth of the NC are dominated by processes occurring at the substrate surface rather than in the gas phase. For Ar pressures ̓᎒-2 Torr, the anisotropy of the NC is enhanced, the deposition rate decreases abruptly and a significant amount of the buffer gas is incorporated into the host, thus leading to the formation of a porous material.  相似文献

Y2SiO5:Ce phosphor thin films were grown onto Si(100) substrates with pulsed laser deposition (PLD) using a 248-nm KrF excimer laser. Process parameters were varied during the growth process and the effect on the surface morphology and cathodoluminescence (CL) was analysed. The process parameters that were changed included the following: gas pressure (vacuum (5×10−6 Torr), 1×1−2 Torr and 1 Torr O2), different gas species (O2, Ar and N2 at a pressure of 455 mTorr), laser fluence (1.6±0.1 J cm−2 and 3.0±0.3 J cm−2) and substrate temperature (400 and 600°C). The surface morphology was investigated with atomic force microscopy (AFM). The morphology of the thin films ablated in vacuum and 10 mTorr ambient O2 showed more or less the same trend. An increase in the pressure to 1 Torr O2, however, showed a definite increase in deposited particle sizes. Ablation in N2 gas resulted in small particles of 20 nm in diameter and ablation in O2 gas produced bigger particles of 20, 30 and 40 nm as well as an agglomeration of these particles into bigger size clusters of 80 to 100 nm. Ablation in Ar gas led to particle sizes of 30 nm and the particles were much more spherically defined and evenly distributed on the surface. The higher fluence deposition led to bigger particle and grain sizes as well as thicker layers with respect to the lower fluence. The particle sizes of the higher fluence vary mainly between 130 and 140 nm and the lower fluence sizes vary between 50 and 60 nm. The higher fluence particles consist of smaller particles ranging from 5 to 30 nm as measured with AFM. The surface structure of the thin film ablated at 400°C substrate temperature is less compact (lesser agglomeration of particles than at 600°C). The increase in substrate temperature definitely resulted in a rougher surface layer. CL was measured to investigate the effect of the surface morphology on the luminescent intensities. The increased O2 ambient (1 Torr) resulted in a higher CL intensity compared to the thin films ablated in vacuum. The thin film ablated in Ar gas showed a much higher CL intensity than the other thin films. Ablation at a high fluence resulted in a higher CL intensity. The higher substrate temperature resulted in better CL intensities. The more spherically shaped particles and rougher surface led to increase CL intensities.  相似文献

Films of La0.5Sr0.5CoO3 (LSCO) have been deposited on specially treated TiO2-terminated (001) SrTiO3 substrate surfaces and on macroporous polycrystalline !-Al2O3 substrates, having a mean pore diameter of 80 nm, by pulsed laser deposition. The films deposited on SrTiO3 are good conducting, (001) textured, and exceptionally smooth (1-2 Å for 100 nm thick films). LSCO films deposited on porous !-Al2O3 are polycrystalline and exhibit good crystallographic and electrical properties despite the large substrate roughness and the differences in lattice parameters and crystal structure between the film and the substrate. Different growth modes have been observed on the porous !-Al2O3 substrates depending on the oxygen pressure during film deposition. Films grown at an oxygen pressure of 10-1 mbar are macroporous, whereas films grown at 10-2 mbar completely cover the substrate pores. In the latter case, strain effects lead to film cracking.  相似文献

NiTi shape memory alloy thin films are deposited on pure Cu substrate at substrate ambient temperatures of 300 °C and 450 °C. The surface and interface oxidation of NiTi thin films are characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). After a subsequent annealing treatment the crystallization behavior of the films deposited on substrate at different temperatures is studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The effects of substrate temperature on the surface and interface oxidation of NiTi thin films are investigated. In the film surface this is an oxide layer composed of TiO2. The Ni atom has not been detected on surface. In the film/substrate interface there is an oxide layer with a mixture Ti2O3 and NiO in the films deposited at substrate temperatures 300 °C and 450 °C. In the films deposited at ambient temperature, the interface layer contains Ti suboxides (TiO) and metallic Ni.  相似文献

Ti:sapphire films were grown using molten Al-Ti alloy ablation targets with either O2 gas pulses or O2 background reactive medium on sapphire (0001) substrates. The films were characterized by the use of XRD, RHEED, AFM, and XPS. While the films deposited at a substrate temperature of 650 °C showed three-dimensional epitaxial growth, the films deposited at 1000 °C exhibited a two-dimensional structure. Annealing of the low-temperature deposited films improved the crystal quality but failed to improve the surface morphology. Ti exists in the host sapphire lattice in the form of Ti3+ for films deposited at lower temperatures, whereas it assumes the tetravalent form in the high-temperature deposited films. The valence states of Ti identified by XPS studies are in agreement with low-temperature luminescence results.  相似文献

TiNi thin films with BaTiO3 and PbZr0.52Ti0.48O3 (PZT) as buffer layers were deposited on Si(100) substrates by the pulsed laser deposition (PLD) method. Buffer layers (BaTiO3 and PZT) were deposited at 600 °C in oxygen (O2) environment and TiNi films were deposited on the top of the buffer layer in presence of 15 mTorr nitrogen (N2) at various deposition temperatures (50, 300, and 500 °C). Synthesis and characterization of TiNi films were investigated from the crystallographic point of view by using X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and atomic force microscope (AFM) techniques. It is found that buffer layer of BaTiO3 and PZT have improved the crystallinity of TiNi films deposited at higher temperatures. The TiNi/PZT film was uniform compared to TiNi/BaTiO3 film with the exception of agglomerates that appeared throughout the layer.  相似文献

The nanocrystalline ZnO thin films were deposited by pulsed laser deposition on quartz and i-Si (100) substrates at different substrate temperatures (473 K–873 K) and at different mixed partial pressures (0.05, 0.01, and 0.5 mbar) of Ar+O2. The structural studies from XRD spectra reveals that the films deposited at 0.05 mbar and at lower substrate temperatures were c-axis oriented with predominant (002) crystallographic orientation. At 873 K along with (002) orientation, additional crystallographic orientations were also observed in case of films deposited at 0.01 and 0.5 mbar pressures. The composition of Zinc and Oxygen in ZnO films from EDAX reveals that the films deposited at lower partial pressures were have high at.% of O2 whereas higher partial pressures and substrate temperatures had high at.% Zn. The surface microstructure of the films show that the films deposited at lower partial pressures (0.05 mbar ) and at lower substrate temperatures (473 K) were found to have nanoparticles of size 15 nm where as films deposited at 873 K have nanorods. The length of these nanorods increases with increasing Ar+O2 partial pressure to 0.5 mbar. The optical energy gap of the film deposited at lower partial pressure and substrate temperature was 3.3 eV and decrease with the increase of substrate temperatures. The films deposited at 0.5 mbar and at 873 K emitted an intense luminescence at a wavelength of 390 nm. The measured thickness of deposited films by spectroscopic ellipsometry is around 456 nm.  相似文献

Zinc gallate (ZnGa2O4) thin film phosphors have been formed on ITO glass substrates by a chemical solution method with starting materials of zinc acetate dihydrate, gallium nitrate hydrate and 2-methoxiethanol as a solution. The thin films were firstly dried at 100 °C and fired at 500 °C for 30 min and then, annealed at 500 °C and 600 °C for 30 min under an annealing atmosphere of 3% H2/Ar. XRD patterns of the thin film phosphors showed (311) and (220) peak indicating ZnGa2O4 crystalline phase in which all the (311) peaks of the film phosphors synthesized on ITO glass and soda-lime glass revealed high intensity with increasing annealing temperature from 500 °C to 600 °C. The ZnGa2O4 thin film phosphors represented marked change in AFM surface morphologies according to an annealing temperature under an annealing atmosphere (3% H2/Ar). The film phosphor, annealed at 600 °C, showed the embossed pattern with relatively regular spacing in AFM surface morphology. The ZnGa2O4 thin film phosphors formed on ITO glass, which were annealed at different temperatures and showed distinctive spectra with peak wavelengths of 434 nm and 436 nm in the blue emission region.  相似文献

Thin Y2O3 films have been grown on (100) Si using an in-situ ultraviolet-assisted pulsed laser deposition (UVPLD) technique. When compared to conventional pulsed laser deposited (PLD) films under similar conditions, the UVPLD-grown films exhibited better structural and optical properties, especially those grown at lower substrate temperatures, from 200 °C to 400 °C. X-ray diffraction investigations showed that the films grown were highly crystalline and textured. According to X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Rutherford backscattering spectrometry investigations, UVPLD-grown Y2O3 films have a better overall stoichiometry and contain less physisorbed oxygen than the conventional PLD-grown films. The refractive index values, measured in the range 300-750 nm by using variable-angle spectroscopic ellipsometry, were similar to those of a reference Y2O3 film.  相似文献

We report thin tantalum pentoxide (Ta2O5) films grown on quartz and silicon substrates by the pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technique employing a Nd:YAG laser (wavelength 5=532 nm) in various O2 gas environments. The effect of oxygen pressure, substrate temperature, and annealing under UV irradiation using a 172-nm excimer lamp on the properties of the grown films has been studied. The optical properties determined by UV spectrophotometry were also found to be a sensitive function of oxygen pressure in the chamber. At an O2 pressure of 0.2 mbar and deposition temperatures between 400 and 500 °C, the refractive index of the films was around 2.18 which is very close to the bulk Ta2O5 value of 2.2, and an optical transmittance around 90% in the visible region of the spectrum was obtained. X-ray diffraction measurements showed that the as-deposited films were amorphous at temperatures below 500 °C and possessed an orthorhombic (#-Ta2O5) crystal structure at temperatures above 600 °C. The most significant result of the present study was that oxygen pressure could be used to control the composition and modulate optical band gap of the films. It was also found that UV annealing can significantly improve the optical and electrical properties of the films deposited at low oxygen pressures (<0.1 mbar).  相似文献

The exceedingly fragile nature of thermally grown Au-black coating makes handling and patterning a critical issue. Infrared absorption characteristics of near atmospheric, N2 ambient DC sputtered Au thin films are studied for this purpose. The thin Au films are sputtered at different chamber pressures in Ar and N2/Ar gas ambient from 4.5 to 8.0 mbar and optimized for enhanced infrared absorption. The absorber film sputtered in N2/Ar ambient at 8.0 mbar chamber pressure offers significant absorption of medium to long wave infrared radiations. The micro-patterning of sputtered Au thin film is carried out by using conventional photolithography and metal lift off methods on a prefabricated µ-infrared detector array on Si (1 0 0) substrate. The steady state temperature response of sputtered film has been examined using nondestructive thermal imaging method under external heating of the detector array.  相似文献
