This is part II of a series on noncompact isometry groups of Lorentz manifolds. We have introduced in part I, a compactification of these isometry groups, and called "bipolarized" those Lorentz manifolds having a "trivial" compactification. Here we show a geometric rigidity of non-bipolarized Lorentz manifolds; that is, they are (at least locally) warped products of constant curvature Lorentz manifolds by Riemannian manifolds. L. Paoluzzi and B. Zimmermann constructed a family of compact orientable hyperbolic 3-manifolds with totally geodesic boundary, and classified them up to homeomorphism. Our main purpose is to determine the canonical decompositions of these manifolds. Using the result, we can obtain an alternative proof of the classification theorem of these manifolds and determine their isometry groups. We also determine their unknotting tunnels. Some of these manifolds are related to certain spatial graphs, so-called Suzukis Brunnian graphs. The properties of these manifolds enable us to obtain those of the graphs. Moreover, we give an affirmative answer to Kinoshitas problem concerning these graphs. In the Appendix, we calculate the volume of these manifolds.  相似文献

We establish a volume decreasing result for V-harmonic maps between Riemannian manifolds. We apply this result to obtain corresponding results for Weyl harmonic maps from conformal Weyl manifolds to Riemannian manifolds. We also obtain corresponding results for holomorphic maps from almost Hermitian manifolds to quasi-Kähler manifolds, which generalize or improve the partial results in Goldberg and Har’El (Bull Soc Math Grèce 18(1):141–148, 1977, J Differ Geom 14(1):67–80, 1979).  相似文献

In this article we study the validity of the Whitney \(C^1\) extension property for horizontal curves in sub-Riemannian manifolds that satisfy a first-order Taylor expansion compatibility condition. We first consider the equiregular case, where we show that the extension property holds true whenever a suitable non-singularity property holds for the endpoint map on the Carnot groups obtained by nilpotent approximation. We then discuss the case of sub-Riemannian manifolds with singular points and we show that all step-2 manifolds satisfy the \(C^1\) extension property. We conclude by showing that the \(C^1\) extension property implies a Lusin-like approximation theorem for horizontal curves on sub-Riemannian manifolds.  相似文献

We study compact complex manifolds bimeromorphic to locally conformally Kähler (LCK) manifolds. This is an analogy of studying a compact complex manifold bimeromorphic to a Kähler manifold. We give a negative answer for a question of Ornea, Verbitsky, Vuletescu by showing that there exists no LCK current on blow ups along a submanifold (dim \(\ge 1\)) of Vaisman manifolds. We show that a compact complex manifold with LCK currents satisfying a certain condition can be modified to an LCK manifold. Based on this fact, we define a compact complex manifold with a modification from an LCK manifold as a locally conformally class C (LC class C) manifold. We give examples of LC class C manifolds that are not LCK manifolds. Finally, we show that all LC class C manifolds are locally conformally balanced manifolds.  相似文献
