The degree of polarization is found for optical excitations of cosh-Gaussian, cos-Gaussian and annular-Gaussian beams in a turbulent atmosphere. The related formulation is based on the beam coherence polarization matrix. The self and mutual coherence functions appearing in the beam coherence polarization matrix are evaluated, when the above mentioned excitations exhibit partial source coherence for self and cross fields. Plots showing the variation of the degree of polarization are provided versus the propagation length when the source size, displacement parameter, structure constant and the degree of source coherence for self and cross fields change. Taking the stochastic electromagnetic J 0-correlated Schell-model pulsed (JSMP) beam as a typical example of stochastic spatially and spectrally partially coherent electromagnetic pulsed beams, the analytical expressions for the cross-spectral density matrix, spectral density, spectral degree of polarization and spectral degree of coherence of stochastic electromagnetic JSMP beams propagating in free space are derived, and used to study the changes in the spectrum, polarization, and coherence of stochastic spatially and spectrally partially coherent electromagnetic JSMP beams. It is shown that the on-axis spectrum is blue-shifted in free-space propagation and is dependent on the pulse temporal coherence length and spatial correlation parameter. The distribution of the on-axis spectral degree of polarization depends on the frequency and spatial correlation parameter. The spectral degree of coherence increases with increasing pulse temporal coherence length. The results derived are interpreted physically.  相似文献

This paper is based on the unified theory of coherence and polarization of stochastic electromagnetic beams and the extended Huygens–Fresnel principle, combined with the quadratic approximation of Rytov’s phase structure function and the generalized Stokes parameters. We have derived the novel expressions for the cross-spectral density matrix elements and the degree of cross-polarization of a class of elliptically polarized spatially and spectrally partially coherent Electromagnetic Gaussian-Schell model pulse (EGSMP) beams propagating through atmospheric turbulence along a slant path. Additionally, we calculate and analyze the effects of the turbulent intensity, the initial pulse duration, waist width of the beam, the spatial coherence length and temporal coherence length et al. on the polarization properties of fully polarized and partially coherent EGSMP beams. Finally, a comparison of the impact of those factors on the partially polarization beams is made. The results show that the influences of the turbulent intensity, the initial pulse duration, waist width of the beam, the spatial coherence length and temporal coherence length et al. on the polarization properties of fully polarized and partially coherent EGSMP beams are larger. While the effects of those parameters on the partially polarization and partially coherent EGSMP beams are smaller. It is noted that the results of this paper have established sound theoretical basis on the topic of improving performance of the laser system propagating through the atmospheric turbulence.  相似文献

We study the behaviour of the degree of polarization in the intermediate zone, i.e. in the region of space where coherence properties of the beam and the atmospheric turbulence are competing. 从理论和实验两方面对非均匀关联径向偏振部分相干光的产生进行了研究.理论上,基于相位关联与相干度的联系,推导出了非均匀关联径向偏振部分相干光的2×2阶交叉谱密度矩阵及相干度分布.实验上,利用一个相位型液晶空间光调制器的不同区域,对入射的完全相干的径向偏振光的两个正交偏振分量分别加载随机相位调制,并实验测量了这种光束的相干度分布及其对光强分布的影响.实验结果验证了光束相干度的非均匀关联结构,并且通过改变随机相位的高斯调制半宽可以改变光束的相干性分布.研究表明,随着随机相位的高斯调制半宽的增加,光束中两点间的相干度逐渐减小,其光强分布由圆环状逐渐变化为类平顶的光强分布.这种非均匀关联的径向偏振部分相干光在激光微操纵和材料加工等领域具有一定的潜在应用价值.  相似文献

We analyze the optimal visibility one can obtain in interference experiments with partially polarized light when one acts on only one of the two interfering beams. This is a practical situation that can appear when one does not want to modify or attenuate one of the beams, such as in homodyne detection. It is shown that the optimal configuration usually does not correspond to light with the same degrees of polarization for the two interfering beams. We also demonstrate that a simple interpretation can be obtained with the recently introduced normalized mutual coherence matrix.  相似文献

The unified theory of coherence and polarization is applied to an investigation of the changes in the polarization, the coherence and the spectrum of partially coherent electromagnetic Hermite–Gaussian (EHG) beams propagating through atmospheric turbulence. Based on the extended Huygens–Fresnel principle, the 2×2 electric cross-spectral density matrix of partially coherent EHG beams in turbulence is expressed analytically by using a quadratic approximation of Rytov's phase structure function. The analytical expressions for the degree of polarization, the degree of coherence and the spectrum of partially coherent EHG beams in turbulence are derived, and the corresponding analytical results of electromagnetic Gaussian Schell-model (EGSM) beams can be obtained when the order number of the Hermite polynomial is zero. Some interesting results are obtained, which are illustrated by using numerical examples.  相似文献

A relation between spatial coherence function and source encoding intensity transmittance function is presented. Since the spatial coherence is depending upon the information processing operation, a strictly broad spatial coherence function may not be required for the processing. The advantage of the source encoding is to relax the constraints of strict coherence requirement, so that the processing operation can be carried out with an extended incoherent source. Emphasis of the source encodings and experimental demonstrations are given. The constraint of temperal coherence requirement is also discussed.  相似文献

The concept of existing scalar coherent four-petal Gaussian (FPG) beam is extended to the more general partially coherent electromagnetic four-petal Gaussian (PCFPG) beam, and the cross-spectral density matrix of the latter is derived in analytical expressions. Intensity distributions and degree of polarization in free space are investigated by numerical examples. Results show that propagation properties of the PCFPG beam are different from their scalar coherent and scalar partially coherent counterparts. Both intensity distributions and polarization strongly depend on transversal coherence lengths. When the propagation distance increases to a large value, intensity distributions of PCFPG beams convert into the Gauss profile. Polarization of PCFPG beams shows an oscillating characteristic upon propagation, and the oscillation would enhance with the increase of coherence lengths. These results may find potential applications in beam shaping and free space optical communications.  相似文献

本文介绍了非均匀部分相干光束的概念, 并用数值模拟的方法详细研究了其在自由空间传输后的变化. 研究结果表明, 经过自由空间传输后非均匀部分相干光束会发生不同于传统相干模型光束的显著变化. 这种变化和光束传输距离、光源空间相干度分布、光源光强分布密切相关. 经过传输后, 源平面自相干附近点的空间相干度发生突变, 在短距离传输过程中源平面高相干区域的空间相干度会降低, 接收面各点的空间相干曲线不再相同, 随着传输距离增加, 非均匀空间相干度会逐渐趋于均匀.  相似文献

In this paper, based on the extended Huygens–Fresnel integral formula, the analytical expression for the beam coherence-polarization (BCP) matrix of the partially coherent azimuthally polarized (PCAP) beams propagating in turbulent atmosphere has been derived. The distribution of the spectral density, the spectral degree of polarization, the spectral degree of coherence and the spectral degree of cross-polarization of the PCAP beams propagating in turbulent atmosphere with different coherences in the source are investigated in detail. It is shown by numerical results and analysis that the distribution of the spectral properties of the PCAP beam will change on propagation in a turbulent atmosphere, and this change is dependent upon the degree of coherence of the source beam and atmospheric turbulence. It is also shown that even through the source beam is chosen as δgxxδgyy the distribution of the spectral density, the spectral degree of polarization, the spectral degree of coherence and the spectral degree of cross-polarization in the far field tends to symmetrical profile.  相似文献

根据光束的相干-偏振矩阵理论,应用柯林公式对部分相干光经光阑衍射后的轴向、横向偏振特性从近场区到远场区的演化规律进行了详细的数值计算。经研究表明,由于光阑的衍射效应,使得高斯谢尔模型光束的偏振出现非均匀分布,光束偏振度沿轴向、横向分布出现多峰振荡现象,并且随着光阑截断参数的减小、光束空间相干长度的增大和传输距离的增大,多峰振荡逐渐增强。光束在自由空间沿轴向传输时,在近场区偏振度分布均匀,与源平面相同,随着传输距离的增大和空间相干长度的减小,偏振度沿轴向分布逐渐增大,无振荡现象。  相似文献

研究了部分相干Airy光束在湍流大气中传输时的偏振特性,偏振保持度作为衡量偏振传输效果的一个重要参数.结果表明:部分相干Airy光束在湍流大气中传输足够远时,其偏振度会变回到初始值;而在自由空间中传输,光束的偏振度会保持在某一个特定值;在湍流大气中,当光束传输距离不是很远时,光束对称轴上的偏振度分布为Airy函数,但是当传输足够远时,该偏振度分布逐渐趋向于类高斯状;光束的束腰半径越大,相干长度越长,越有利于光束传输后偏振的保持;存在一个指数截断因子,使得光束的偏振保持度很差.这些结论对于Airy光束在通信领域中的应用具有重要的意义.  相似文献

采用电流注入法对某型直流固态继电器输入端与输出端的电磁脉冲损伤机制及失效模式进行了实验研究,结果表明:输入端注入电磁脉冲信号时,输出端会产生误动作,并可造成输入电路中三极管BE节产生短路损伤,导致输入端施加控制信号时输出端无法导通;输出端注入电磁脉冲信号时,可造成输出电路中MOSFET管的栅极和漏极产生短路损伤,导致输出端短路。  相似文献

The propagation behavior of the spectral degree of polarization of stochastic spatially and spectrally partially coherent electromagnetic flat-topped pulses in free space is studied. Numerical calculation results are given to illustrate the dependence of spectral degree of polarization on the beam order, pulse frequency, temporal coherence length, pulse duration and spatial correlation length. It is shown that with increasing beam order M the position z of the on-axis spectral degree of polarization P = 0 decreases, and the distribution of spectral degree of polarization is different for different values of M.  相似文献

 通过加入高斯项的空间相干度,引入部分相干双曲余弦-高斯(ChG)光束,推导出部分相干ChG光束通过近轴ABCD光学系统传输的解析表达式,并用以研究其传输特性和空间整形。结果表明,部分相干ChG光束的光强分布不能保持传输不变性,其光强分布不仅与传输距离和离心参数有关,而且还与空间相干参数有关。在传输距离固定时,适当改变部分相干ChG 光束的离心参数和空间相干参数,可实现光束的空间整形。光束质量因子随空间相干性的增大和离心参数的减小而减小。高斯-谢尔模型光束和完全相干ChG光束可作为部分相干ChG光束的特例处理。  相似文献
