General Relativity obeys the three equivalence principles, the “weak” one (all test bodies fall the same way in a given gravitational field), the “Einstein” one (gravity is locally effaced in a freely falling reference frame) and the “strong” one (the gravitational mass of a system equals its inertial mass to which all forms of energy, including gravitational energy, contribute). The first principle holds because matter is minimally coupled to the metric of a curved spacetime so that test bodies follow geodesics. The second holds because Minkowskian coordinates can be used in the vicinity of any event. The fact that the latter, strong, principle holds is ultimately due to the existence of superpotentials which allow to define the inertial mass of a gravitating system by means of its asymptotic gravitational field, that is, in terms of its gravitational mass. Nordström’s theory of gravity, which describes gravity by a scalar field in flat spacetime, is observationally ruled out. It is however the only theory of gravity with General Relativity to obey the strong equivalence principle. I show in this paper that this remarkable property is true beyond post-newtonian level and can be related to the existence of a “Nordström-Katz” superpotential.  相似文献

It is shown how the use of coordinates where time is measured with clocks moving radially in a spherically symmetric gravitational field leads to general relativistic dynamical expressions that are exactly identical to corresponding expressions in Newtonian theory. The general formalism is developed for the case where the stress-energy tensor is that of a perfect fluid. Expressions like the Newtonian inverse square gravitational law, the Newtonian equation of continuity for fluid flow, Newtonian conservation of energy, etc., follow quite naturally from the fully-fledged exact general relativistic equations. Specific examples involving cosmology and gravitational collapse are given.  相似文献

本文讨论引力场中局部区域的能量问题。这里提出了一个新的引力场总能量-动量赝张量密度,它所表示的引力场局部空间区域中的能量对纯空间坐标变换是不变量,因而引力场的局部区域能量具有确定的物理意义。关于Schwarzschild场的能量和动量,新的赝张量给出的结果要比现有广义相对论文献中的其他形式的赝张量所给出的结果较为合理。文中还讨论了在引力理论中质量与能量的关系问题。 关键词:  相似文献

A recent assertion that inertial and gravitational forces are entropic forces is discussed. A more conventional approach is stressed herein, whereby entropy is treated as a result of relative motion between observers in different frames of reference. It is demonstrated that the entropy associated with inertial and gravitational forces is dependent upon the well known lapse function of general relativity. An interpretation of the temperature and entropy of an accelerating body is then developed, and used to relate the entropic force to Newton's second law of motion. The entropic force is also derived in general coordinates. An expression of the gravitational entropy of in‐falling matter is then derived by way of Schwarzschild coordinates. As a final consideration, the entropy of a weakly gravitating matter distribution is shown to be proportional to the self‐energy and the stress‐energy‐momentum content of the matter distribution.  相似文献

The structure of quantum field theory renormalization in curved space-time is investigated. The equations allowing us to investigate the behaviour of vacuum energy and vertex functions in the limit of small distances in the external gravitational field are established. The behaviour of effective charges corresponding to the parameters of nonminimal coupling of the matter with the gravitational field is studied and the conditions under which asymptotically free theories become asymptotically conformally invariant are found. The examples of asymptotically conformally invariant theories are given. On the basis of a direct solution of renormalization group equations the effective potential in the external gravitational field and the effective action in the gravity with the high derivatives are obtained. The expression for the cosmological constant in terms of R2-gravity Lagrangian parameters is given which does not contradict the observable data. Renormalization and renormalization group equations for the theory in curved space-time with torsion are investigated.  相似文献

The role of gravitational energy in the evolution of the universe is examined. In co-moving coordinates, calculation of the Landau-Lifshitz pseudotensor for FRW models reveals that: (i) the total energy of a spatially closed universe irrespective of the equation of state of the cosmic fluid is zero at all times, (ii) the total energy enclosed within any finite volume of the spatially flat universe is zero at all times, (iii) during inflation the vacuum energy driving the accelerated expansion and ultimately responsible for the creation of matter (radiation) in the universe, is drawn from the energy of the gravitational field. In a similar fashion, certain cosmological models which abandon adiabaticity by allowing for particle creation, use the gravitational energy directly as an energy source.  相似文献

By using the Einstein-Tolman expression of the energy-momentum pseudo-tensor, the energy density of the gravitational field of the static spherically symmetric neutron stars is calculated in the Cartesian coordinate system.It is exciting that the energy density of gravitational field is positive and rational The xmmerical results of the energy density of gravitational field of neutron stars are calculated. For neutron stars with M=2M, the ratio of the energy density of gravitational field to the energy density of pure matters would be up to 0.54 at the surface.  相似文献

Perjes and Israel and Wilson have given independently a new class of solutions of the sourcefree Einstein-Maxwell equations, which can be interpreted as the external gravitational and electromagnetic fields of a spinning source with unit specific charge. Starting from Zipoy's solutions in oblate and prolate spheroidal coordinates for the source-free gravitational field we generate some axially symmetric stationary solutions of the source-free Einstein-Maxwell equations by using Perjes' method. All these solutions become Euclidean at infinity. The asymptotic behavior and the singularity of the solutions are studied in order to gain some insight into the nature of the source. The solution in prolate spheroidal coordinates is found to contain closed timelike lines.  相似文献

A suitable derivative of Einstein's equations in the framework of the teleparallel equivalent of general relativity (TEGR) yields a continuity equation for the gravitational energy‐momentum. In particular, the time derivative of the total gravitational energy is given by the sum of the total fluxes of gravitational and matter fields energy. We carry out a detailed analysis of the continuity equation in the context of Bondi and Vaidya's metrics. In the former space‐time the flux of gravitational energy is given by the well known expression in terms of the square of the news function. It is known that the energy definition in the realm of the TEGR yields the ADM (Arnowitt‐Deser‐Misner) energy for appropriate boundary conditions. Here we show that the same energy definition also describes the Bondi energy. The analysis of the continuity equation in Vaidya's space‐time shows that the variation of the total gravitational energy is determined by the energy flux of matter only.  相似文献

It has been shown recently that within the framework of the teleparallel equivalent of general relativity (TEGR) it is possible to define the energy density of the gravitational field in a unique way. The tegr amounts to an alternative formulation of Einstein's general relativity, not to an alternative gravity theory. The localizability of the gravitational energy has been investigated in a number of spacetimes with distinct topologies, and the outcome of these analyses agree with previously known results regarding the exact expression of the gravitational energy, and/or with the specific properties of the spacetime manifold. In this article we establish a relationship between the expression of the gravitational energy density of the TEGR and the Sparling two-forms, which are known to be closely connected with the gravitational energy. We will also show that our expression of energy yields the correct value of gravitational mass contained in the conformal factor of the metric field.  相似文献

To construct a plasma trap with levitating magnetic coils in the thin ring approximation, we derive the expression for the potential energy of a system of several superconducting rings (one of which is fixed) capturing the preset flows in the uniform gravitational field as a function of the coordinates of the free ring (or rings). Calculations performed in the Mathcad system show that the potential energy of such a system has a local minimum for certain values of parameters. Stable levitation of a superconducting ring in the position corresponding to calculations is realized in the field of another superconducting ring, and this leads to the conclusion that a magnetic Galatea trap can be prepared on the basis of a levitating quadrupole.  相似文献

Solutions of the Cauchy problem associated with the Einstein field equations which satisfy general initial conditions are obtained under the assumptions that (1) the source of the gravitational field is a perfect fluid with pressure,p, equal to energy density,w, and (2) the space-time admits the three parameter group of motions of the Euclidean plane, that is, the space-time is plane symmetric. The results apply to the situation where the source of the gravitational field is a massless scalar field since such a source has the same stress-energy tensor as an irrotational fluid withp=w. The relation between characteristic coordinates and comoving ones is discussed and used to interpret a number of special solutions. A solution involving a shock wave is discussed.  相似文献

The motion of a composite system made of N particles is examined in a space with a canonical noncommutative algebra of coordinates. It is found that the coordinates of the center-of-mass position satisfy noncommutative algebra with effective parameter. Therefore, the upper bound of the parameter of noncommutativity is re-examined. We conclude that the weak equivalence principle is violated in the case of a non-uniform gravitational field and propose the condition for the recovery of this principle in noncommutative space. Furthermore, the same condition is derived from the independence of kinetic energy on the composition.  相似文献

A tensorial expression for localized gravitational energy-momentum is delineated as an integral part of the energy-momentum tensor. A bona fide conservation law of the total energy-momentum tensor is obtained in the geodesic-nonrotating coordinates, in which the covariant divergencelessness of the energy-momentum tensor reads, globally, as ordinary divergencelessness. The integral gravitational energy in the exterior of a spherically symmetric source is calculated based on this tensorial relativistic expression. For an ordinary star, such as the sun, it coincides with the Newtonian value up to six digits.  相似文献

The general dynamical equations for spherical gravitational collapse are derived by introducing the eigenvalue of the conformal Weyl tensor in the 2-2 component of the Einstein tensor and assuming the material content of the models to be a perfect fluid. Since this eigenvalue is coupled always with the material energy density, it has been interpreted as theenergy density of the free gravitational field whose presence is related with anisotropy and inhomogeneity. As a particular case, the collapse of a spherically symmetric dust (zero pressure) with vanishing radial acceleration (free fall collapse) is discussed. It is shown that the model is inhomogeneous with non-vanishing shear of the congruence of world lines of the dust particles. The model contains gravitational radiation by Szekere’s criterion since both shear invariant and the spatial gradient of density are non-vanishing. This is in contrast to the Oppenheimer-Synder model for which both the above mentioned characteristics are absent. A particular solution which is anisotropic and inhomogeneous has been given to prove the emission of gravitational radiation by the freely falling dust and in this case the energy density of the free gravitational field contains a typeN term superposed on the coulombian field.  相似文献
