The electronic structures and magnetic properties of double perovskites Sr2Fe1−xCrxReO6 (x=0.0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1.0) have been studied within the local spin density approximation (LSDA) and LSDA+U schemes. The calculated results reveal that with increasing Cr content the cell volume shrinks 2.61%; the Fe/Cr site magnetic moment decreases while the Re-site moment increases. The total spin magnetic moment linearly decreases with the Cr doping from 3.00μB for x=0.00 down to 1.00μB for x=1.00 per formula unit. The magnetic coupling constants increase with increasing x. The electronic structure calculations indicate that the electronic concentration in the Re spin-down subband slightly increases resulting from the increase of bonding-antibonding interaction between the localised and the delocalised states in spin-down band; the coupling of O-2p and transition-metal-3d is substantially enhanced with the Cr doping. We discuss the origin of the anomalously high TC of Cr-doped Sr2FeReO6 compounds in terms of band hybridization effects.  相似文献

First-principles calculations have been performed for the study of the electronic band structure and ferromagnetic properties of double perovskite Ca2CrSbO6. The density of states, total energy, spin magnetic moment, and charge density were calculated and analyzed in details. It is found that Ca2CrSbO6 has a stable ferromagnetic ground state and the spin magnetic moment per molecule is about 2.99#B. The chromium contributes the most in the total magnetic moments. The results indicate that Ca2CrSbO6 is half-metallic.  相似文献

The electronic structure, the metallic and magnetic properties of metal phosphonate Co[(CH3PO3)(H2O)] have been studied by first-principles calculations, which were based on the density-functional theory (DFT) and the full potential linearized augmented plane wave (FPLAPW) method. The total energy, the spin magnetic moments and the density of the states (DOS) were all calculated. The calculations reveal that the compound Co[(CH3PO3)(H2O)] has a stable metallic antiferromagnetic (AFM) ground state and a half-metallic ferromagnetic (FM) metastable state. Based on the spin distribution obtained from calculations, it is found that the spin magnetic moment of the compound is mainly from the Co2+, with some small contributions from the oxygen, carbon and phosphorus atoms, and the spin magnetic moment per molecule is 5.000μB, which is in good agreement with the experimental results.  相似文献

First-principles calculations based on the tight-binding linear muffin-tin orbital (TB-LMTO) method were performed to investigate the occurrence of spin polarization in the alkali metal oxides (M2O) [M: Li, Na, K, Rb] in antifluorite (anti- CaF2-type) structure with non-magnetic (N, P, As, Sb and Bi) dopants. The calculations reveal that non-magnetic substitutional doping at anion site can induce stable half-metallic ferromagnetic ground state in I2-VI compounds. Total energy calculations show that the antifluorite ferromagnetic state is energetically more stable than the antifluorite non-magnetic state at equilibrium volume. Ground state properties such as equilibrium lattice constant and bulk modulus were calculated. The calculated magnetic moment is found to be 1.00 μB per dopant atom. The magnetic moment is mainly contributed by p orbitals of dopant atom.  相似文献

Hydrostatic pressure effects on the temperature- and magnetic field dependencies of the in-plane and out-of-plane magnetization of the bi-layered perovskite Sr3Ru2O7 have been studied by SQUID magnetometer measurements under a hydrostatic helium-gas pressure. The anomalously enhanced low-temperature value of the paramagnetic susceptibility has been found to systematically decrease with increasing pressure. The effect is accompanied by an increase of the temperature Tmax of a pronounced peak of susceptibility. Thus, magnetization measurements under hydrostatic pressure reveal that the lattice contraction in the structure of Sr3Ru2O7 promotes antiferromagnetism and not ferromagnetism. The effects can be explained by the enhancement of the inter-bi-layer antiferromagnetic spin coupling, driven by the shortening of the superexchange path, and suppression, due to the band-broadening effect, of competing itinerant ferromagnetic correlations.  相似文献

The first principles within the full potential linearized augmented plane wave (FP-LAPW) method with the generalized gradient approximation (GGA) approach were applied to study the new mixed valence compound Ba2F2Fe1.5S3. The density of states, the electronic band structure and the spin magnetic moment are calculated. The calculations reveal that the compound has an antiferromagnetic interaction between the FeIII and FeII ions arising from the bridging S atoms, which validate the experimental assumptions that there is a low-dimensional antiferromagnetic interaction in Ba2F2Fe1.5S3. The spin magnetic moment mainly comes from the FeIII and FeII ions with smaller contribution from S anion. By analysis of the band structure, we find that the compound has half-metallic property.  相似文献

First-principles calculations have been performed to study the electronic structure, the metallic and magnetic properties of Cu(2,5-dmpz)Cl2. The calculations are based on the density functional theory (DFT) with the generalized gradient approximation (GGA) and the full-potential-linearized-augmented plane wave (FPLAPW) method. The total energy, magnetic moment, density of states (DOS) and electronic band structure are calculated. The results reveal that the compound has a stable semiconductive antiferromagnetic (AFM) ground state and a semiconductive ferromagnetic (FM) metastable state, which is in good agreement with the experimental results. Based on the spin distribution and the DOS, it is found that the spin magnetic moment is mainly from the Cu2+, and with relative small contribution from Cl, N atoms.  相似文献

The electronic structure and ferromagnetic stability of Co-doped SnO2 are studied using the first-principle density functional method within the generalized gradient approximation (GGA) and GGA+U schemes. The addition of effective UCo transforms the ground state of Co-doped SnO2 to insulating from half-metallic and the coupling between the nearest neighbor Co spins to weak antimagnetic from strong ferromagnetic. GGA+UCo calculations show that the pure substitutional Co defects in SnO2 cannot induce the ferromagnetism. Oxygen vacancies tend to locate near Co atoms. Their presence increases the magnetic moment of Co and induces the ferromagnetic coupling between two Co spins with large Co-Co distance. The calculated density of state and spin density distribution calculated by GGA+UCo show that the long-range ferromagnetic coupling between two Co spins is mediated by spin-split impurity band induced by oxygen vacancies. More charge transfer from impurity to Co-3d states and larger spin split of Co-3d and impurity states induced by the addition of UCo enhance the ferromagnetic stability of the system with oxygen vacancies. By applying a Coulomb UO on O 2 s orbital, the band gap is corrected for all calculations and the conclusions derived from GGA+UCo calculations are not changed by the correction of band gap.  相似文献

Single phase perovskite Sr2CuNbO6−δ with a high proportion of Cu1+ ions and oxygen vacancies was synthesized by solid-state reaction. The structure was determined by Rietveld method with space group Pm3m. Isotropic g value was evaluated from electron spin resonance (ESR) measurements. The ESR result is consistent with that of magnetic susceptibility.  相似文献

Epitaxial and c-axis oriented double perovskite Sr2CrWO6 thin films were prepared on SrTiO3 (100) and LaAlO3 (100) substrates by pulsed-laser deposition. Structural, magnetic and transport properties were found to be sensitive to the gas conditions employed during the deposition. A small amount of oxygen along with Ar during the deposition was found to be essential for B-site ordering; such films displayed lattice parameters close to the bulk value and display ferromagnetic metallic behavior. The Curie temperature observed above 500 K in these films is higher than bulk Sr2CrWO6 samples. Films grown without oxygen were observed to have long c-parameter and no B-site ordering; they were non-magnetic and semiconducting.  相似文献

The electronic structure and magnetic properties of the Ti2CoB Heusler compound with a high-ordered CuHg2Ti structure were investigated using the self-consistent full potential linearized augmented plane wave (FPLAPW) method within the density functional theory (DFT). Spin-polarized calculations show that the Ti2CoB compound is half-metallic ferromagnetic with a magnetic moment of 2 μB at the equilibrium lattice constant, a=5.74 Å. The Ti2CoB Heusler compound is ferromagnetic below the equilibrium lattice constant and ferrimagnetic above the equilibrium lattice constant. A large peak in majority-spin DOS and an energy gap in minority-spin DOS are observed at the Fermi level, yielding a spin polarization of 100%. A spin polarization higher than 90% is achieved for a wide range of lattice constants between 5.6 and 6.0 Å.  相似文献

The presented compound, Sr2TaMnO6, has a weak, disordered magnetic structure. The metal oxide was prepared under high isostatic oxygen pressure. The doubling of the perovskite structure was proven with electron diffraction and powder neutron diffraction. Combining neutron- and X-ray diffraction data, the room-temperature structure was modelled with the Rietveld method. Both octahedral positions are partially occupied by Mn and Ta, but with different Mn/Ta ratios. AC- and DC-magnetic measurements indicate a magnetic transition at about 17 K and the AC-magnetic susceptibility, both real and imaginary part, is frequency dependent, suggesting that the material has a spin-glass feature. The magnetic spins freeze during a wide temperature range and a possible explanation is a competative situation between the double exchange (ferromagnetism) and the super-exchange (anti-ferromagnetism).  相似文献

We propose a new mechanism to explain the magnetic structure of a recently discovered magnetoresistive double perovskite oxide system, Sr2FeMoO6, with the help of detailed experimental and theoretical results. This model, based on a strong antiferromagnetic coupling between the local moment and the charge carriers arising from local hopping interactions, can give rise to ferromagnetic metallic as well as ferromagnetic insulating ground states. The relevance of this mechanism in understanding the magnetism in dilute magnetic semiconductors such as Ga1 − x Mn x As, is also discussed.  相似文献

From the results of first principles tight-binding linear muffin-tin orbital (TB-LMTO) calculations, half-metallic ferromagnetism is proposed in Zn(TM)O2 with a chalcopyrite structure. The calculated electronic and magnetic property shows that consistent with the integer value for the total magnetic moment, half metallicity is obtained for ZnCrO2, ZnMnO2, ZnFeO2, ZnCoO2 and ZnNiO2. A careful analysis of the spin density reveals the ferromagnetic coupling between the p–d states and the cation dangling-bond p states, which is believed to be responsible for the stabilization of the ferromagnetic phase. The calculated heat of formation, bulk modulus and cohesive energy are reported.  相似文献

We observe a sharp increase in negative magneto-resistance ratio up to 40% for x=0.1, in La0.5Sr0.5Co1−xRuxO3 which is due to the magnetic disorder induced by an anti-ferromagnetic interaction between Co and Ru ions. We also observe a metal to insulator and a ferromagnetic to anti-ferromagnetic transition for 0≤x≤0.3. Ruthenium (IV) ion disrupts an intermediate spin state of cobalt (Co3+:t2g5eg1), forcing a double exchange mediated ferromagnetic state to an anti-ferromagnetic spin state for x≥0.2.  相似文献

We fabricated the ordered Sr2FeMoO6 (SFMO) thin film with a double perovskite structure using the chemical solution deposition (CSD) method. The highly c-axis oriented SFMO thin film with a high degree of Fe/Mo ordering was successfully synthesized on an MgO (001) substrate by optimizing processing conditions. The precise preparation process control of the SFMO precursor solution leads to a typical magnetoresistance effect in a low magnetic field at room temperature.  相似文献

Ferromagnetic ordering of silver impurities in the AlN semiconductor is predicted by plane-wave ultrasoft pseudopotential and spin-polarized calculations based on density functional theory (DFT). It was found that an Ag impurity atom led to a ferromagnetic ground state in Ag0.0625Al0.9375N, with a net magnetic moment of 1.95 μB per supercell. The nitrogen neighbors at the basal plane in the AgN4 tetrahedron are found to be the main contributors to the magnetization. This magnetic behavior is different from the ones previously reported on transition metal (TM) based dilute magnetic semiconductor (DMS), where the magnetic moment of the TM atom impurity is higher than those of the anions bonded to it. The calculated electronic structure band reveals that the Ag-doped AlN is p-type ferromagnetic semiconductor with a spin-polarized impurity band in the AlN band gap. In addition, the calculated density of states reveals that the ferromagnetic ground state originates from the strong hybridization between 4d-Ag and 2p-N states. This study shows that 4d transition metals such as silver may also be considered as candidates for ferromagnetic dopants in semiconductors.  相似文献

The effect of Al substitution for Mn site in layered manganese oxides La1.3Sr1.7Mn2−xAlxO7 on the magnetic and electrical properties has been investigated. It is interesting that all the samples undergo a similar and complex transition with lowing temperature; they transform from the two-dimensional short-range ferromagnetic order at T*, then enter the three-dimensional long-range ferromagnetic state at TC, at last they display the canted antiferromagnetic state below TN. T*, TC and TN are all reduced with Al content. Resistivity increases sharply with increasing Al concentration, and the metal-insulator transition disappears when x reaches 10%. Additionally, magnetoresistance (MR) effect is weakened. Al substitution dilutes the magnetic active Mn-O-Mn network and weakens the double exchange interaction, and further suppresses FM ordering and metallic conduction. Owing to the anisotropic interaction in the layered perovskite, the magnetic and electrical properties are more sensitive to Al doping level than those in ABO3-type perovskite.  相似文献

The effect of divalent cation substitution on the structure and magnetic properties of La1.2Sr1.8-xCaxMn2O7 (x = 0-0.900) is investigated in this paper. Partly replacing divalent cation Sr2+ by Ca2+ ions results in the weakening and then disappearance of long-range ferromagnetic ordering, and the formation of spin canting and low-temperature spin-glass. Based on structural analysis by Rietveld profile fitting, we suggest that this variation of magnetic property be related to a Jahn-Teller-type attice distortion of MnO6 octahedra due to the introduction of the smaller sized Ca2+ ions.  相似文献
