A set is called regular if its Hausdorff dimension and upper box-counting dimension coincide. In this paper, we prove that the random self-con formal set is regular almost surely. Also we determine the dimen-sions for a class of random self-con formal sets.

Hausdorff dimension of perturbed Cantor sets without some boundedness condition

A perturbed Cantor set (without the uniform boundedness condition away from zero of contraction ratios) whose upper Cantor dimension and lower Cantor dimension coincide has its Hausdorff dimension of the same value of Cantor dimensions. We will show this using an energy theory instead of Frostman's density lemma which was used for the case of the perturbed Cantor set with the uniform boundedness condition. At the end, we will give a nontrivial example of such a perturbed Cantor set. This revised version was published online in August 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.     

Estimates of global dimension

In this note we show that for a *ⁿ-module, in particular, an almost n-tilting module, P over a ring R with A = End_R P such that P _A has finite flat dimension, the upper bound of the global dimension of A can be estimated by the global dimension of R and hence generalize the corresponding results in tilting theory and the ones in the theory of *-modules. As an application, we show that for a finitely generated projective module over a VN regular ring R, the global dimension of its endomorphism ring is not more than the global dimension of R.     

GEOMETRY AND DIMENSION OF SELF—SIMILAR SET

The authors show that the self-similar set for a finite family of contractive similitudes (similarities, i.e., |fi(x) - fi(y)| = αi|x - y|, x,y ∈ RN, where 0 < αi < 1) is uniformly perfect except the case that it is a singleton. As a corollary, it is proved that this self-similar set has positive Hausdorff dimension provided that it is not a singleton. And a lower bound of the upper box dimension of the uniformly perfect sets is given. Meanwhile the uniformly perfect set with Hausdorff measure zero in its Hausdorff dimension is given.     

Lipschitz Invariance of Critical Exponents on Besov Spaces

In this paper we prove that the critical exponents of Besov spaces on a compact set possessing an Ahlfors regular measure is an invariant under Lipschitz transforms. Under mild conditions, the critical exponent of Besov spaces of certain self-similar sets coincides with the walk dimension, which plays an important role in the analysis on fractals. As an application, we show examples having different critical exponents are not Lipschitz equivalent.     

Convergence Groups, Hausdorff Dimension, and a Theorem of Sullivan and Tukia

We show that a discrete, quasiconformal group preserving ⁿ has the property that its exponent of convergence and the Hausdorff dimension of its limit set detect the existence of a non-empty regular set on the sphere at infinity to ⁿ . This generalizes a result due separately to Sullivan and Tukia, in which it is further assumed that the group act isometrically on ⁿ , i.e. is a Kleinian group. From this generalization we are able to extract geometric information about infinite-index subgroups within certain of these groups.

本文研究了填充维数与上盒维数的关系.利用Cantor-Bendixson定理的方法,得到了由上盒维数给出的填充维数的等价定义.并证明了齐次Moran集对上盒维数和填充维数的连续性.     

Engel连分数中一个例外集的Hausdorff维数

本文研究了Engel连分数展式中部分商以某种速度增长的集合的Hausdorff维数.利用自然覆盖和质量分布原理,得到了集合B(α)={x∈(0,1):lim n→∞ log bn+1(x)/log bn(x)=α}的Hausdorff维数是1/α的结果.     

Homological Dimension and Critical Exponent of Kleinian Groups

We prove an inequality between the relative homological dimension of a Kleinian group and its critical exponent. As an application of this result we show that for a geometrically finite Kleinian group Γ, if the topological dimension of the limit set of Γ equals its Hausdorff dimension, then the limit set is a round sphere. ON CLASSES OF REGULAR GRAPHS WITH CONSTANT METRIC DIMENSION

In this paper,we are dealing with the study of the metric dimension of some classes of regular graphs by considering a class of bridgeless cubic graphs called the flower snarks Jn,a class of cubic convex polytopes considering the open problem raised in [M.Imran et al.,families of plane graphs with constant metric dimension,Utilitas Math.,in press] and finally Harary graphs H 5,n by partially answering to an open problem proposed in [I.Javaid et al.,Families of regular graphs with constant metric dimension,Utilitas Math.,2012,88:43-57].We prove that these classes of regular graphs have constant metric dimension.     

A combinatorial proof of Marstrand’s theorem for products of regular Cantor sets

In a paper from 1954 Marstrand proved that if K⊂R² has a Hausdorff dimension greater than 1, then its one-dimensional projection has a positive Lebesgue measure for almost all directions. In this article, we give a combinatorial proof of this theorem when K is the product of regular Cantor sets of class C^1+α, α>0, for which the sum of their Hausdorff dimension is greater than 1.

NOETHERIAN GR-REGULAR RINGS ARE REGULAR

It is proved that for a left Noetherian z-graded ring A,if every finitely generated graded A-module has finite projective dimension(i.e-,A is gr-regular)then every finitely generated A-module has finite projective dimension(i.e.,A is regular).Some applications of this result to filtered rings and some classical cases are also given.
