A new approach for fabricating donor-acceptor assembled systems is demonstrated, based on J-type ordered aggregation of a low-molecular zinc porphyrin derivative and subsequent integration of a pyridylated fullerene derivative with coordination and orientation onto the porphyrin aggregates. This system achieves unusually high efficiencies in fluorescence quenching during one-to-one mixing of the donor and acceptor. Moreover, the Stern-Volmer constant (K(SV)) and association constant (K) of this system are 2520 and 56 times higher, respectively, than those of the corresponding nonassembled system. The quenching efficiency is thermotropically switchable, since ordered-to-disordered transitions are essential characteristics of noncovalent low molecular assemblies.  相似文献

We have prepared two complementary series of SubPc-C(60) (SubPc=subphthalocyanine) electron/energy donor-acceptor systems, in which the two constituents are linked through ortho-, meta-, or para-substituted phenoxy spacers. In one of the series (1 a) the SubPc units bear iodine atoms, while in the other series (1 b) diphenylamino groups are linked to the SubPc macrocycles. The iodine atoms and diphenylamino groups both influence the resulting oxidation potentials of the electron-donating SubPc. They also modulate the outcome of excited state interactions, namely, energy and/or charge transfer. In addition, we have studied the impact that the substitution pattern in the phenoxy spacer exerts onto intramolecular processes in the ground and excited states. Although some of these processes are governed by the spatial separation between both components, the different electronic coupling through ortho-, meta-, or para- connections also plays decisive roles in some cases.  相似文献

A series of donor-acceptor arrays (exTTF-oPPE-C60) containing pi-conjugated oligo(phenyleneethynylene) wires (oPPE) of different length between pi-extended tetrathiafulvalene (exTTF) as electron donor and fullerene (C60) as electron acceptor has been prepared by following a convergent synthesis. The key reaction in these approaches is the bromo-iodo selectivity of the Hagihara-Sonogashira reaction and the deprotecting of acetylenes with different silyl groups to afford the corresponding donor-acceptor conjugates in moderate yields. The electronic interactions between the three electroactive species were determined by using UV-visible spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. Our studies clearly confirm that, although the C60 units are connected to the exTTF donor through pi-conjugated oPPE frameworks, no significant electronic interactions are observed in the ground state. Theoretical calculations predict how a simple exchange from C=C double bonds (i.e., oligo(p-phenylenevinylene) to C triple chemical bond C triple bonds (i.e., oPPE) in the electron donor-acceptor conjugates considerably alters long-range electron transfer. Photoexcitation of exTTF-oPPE-C60 leads to the following features: a transient photoproduct with maxima at 660 and 1000 nm, which are unambiguously attributed to the photolytically generated radical-ion-pair state, [exTTF*+-oPPE-C60*]. Both charge-separation and charge-recombination processes give rise to a molecular-wire behaviour of the oPPE moiety with an attenuation factor (beta) of (0.2+/-0.05) A(-1).  相似文献

Novel pi-extended tetrathiafulvalene (exTTF)-based donor acceptor hybrids-dyads and triads-have been synthesized following a multistep synthetic procedure. Cyclic voltammetry and absorption spectroscopy, conducted in room temperature solutions, reveal features that are identical to the sum of the separate donor and acceptor moieties. Steady-state and time-resolved photolytic techniques confirm that upon photoexcitation of the fullerene chromophore, rapid (1.25 x 10(10) s(-1)) and efficient (67 %) charge separation leads to long-lived, charge-separated radical pairs. Typical lifetimes for the dyad ensembles range between 54 and 460 ns, with the longer values found in more polar solvents. This indicates that the dynamics are located in the 'normal region' of the Marcus curve. In the triads, subsequent charge shifts transform the adjacent radical pair into the distant radical pair, for which we determined lifetimes of up to 111 micros in DMF-values never previously accomplished in molecular triads. In the final charge-separated state, large donor-acceptor separation (center-to-center distances: approximately 30 A) minimizes the coupling between reduced acceptor and oxidized donor. Analysis of the charge recombination kinetics shows that a stepwise mechanism accounts for the unusually long lifetimes.  相似文献

We have synthesized several new push-pull oligothiophenes based on the boron dipyrromethene (BODIPY) moiety as the electron acceptor and the more well-known oligothiophenes substituted with N,N-dialkylamino functions to enhance their electron-donor ability. A complete characterization of the electronic properties has been carried out; it consists of their photophysical, electrochemical, and vibrational properties. The compounds have been studied after chemical treatment with acids and after oxidation. In this regard, they can be termed as NIR dyes and amphoteric redox electroactive molecules. We have described the presence of dual fluorescence in these molecules and fluorescence quenching either by energy transfer or, in the push-pull molecules, by electron exchange. The combination of electrochemical and proton reversibility along with the interesting optical properties of the new species offer an interesting platform for sensor and material applications.  相似文献

The synthesis and energy‐transfer properties of a series of oligo(p‐phenylene ethynylene)–BODIPY ( OPEB ) cassettes are reported. A series of oligo(p‐phenylene ethynylene)s ( OPE s) with different conjugated chain lengths as energy donor subunit in the energy‐transfer system were capped at both ends with BODIPY chromophores as energy‐acceptor subunits. The effect of the conjugated chain of OPE s on energy transfer in the OPEB cassettes was investigated by UV/Vis and fluorescence spectroscopy and modeling. With increasing number n of phenyl acetylene units (n=1–7), the absorption and emission maxima of OPEn are bathochromically shifted. In the OPEBn analogues, the absorption maximum assigned to the BODIPY moieties is independent of the length of the OPE spacer. However, the relative absorption intensity of the BODIPY band decreases when the number of phenyl acetylene units is increased. The emission spectra of OPEBn are dominated by a band peaking at 613 nm, corresponding to emission of the BODIPY moieties, regardless of whether excitation is at 420 or 550 nm. Furthermore, a very small band is observed with a maximum between 450 and 500 nm, and its intensity relative to that of the BODIPY emission increases with increasing n, that is, the excited state of OPE subunits is efficiently quenched in OPEBn by energy transfer to the BODIPY moieties. Energy transfer (ET) from OPEn to BODIPY in OPEBn is very efficient (all ΦET values are greater than 98 %) and only slightly decreases with increasing length of the OPE units. These results are supported by theoretical studies that show very high energy transfer efficiency (ΦET>75 %) from the OPE spacer to the BODIPY end‐groups for chains with up to 15–20 units.  相似文献

Systematic series of indium tin oxide (ITO) electrodes modified covalently with self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of ferrocene-porphyrin-fullerene triads and porphyrin-fullerene dyads were designed to gain valuable insight into the development of molecular photovoltaic devices. The structures of SAMs on ITO have been investigated by UV/Vis absorption spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, and cyclic voltammetry. The photoelectrochemical and photophysical (fluorescence lifetime and time-resolved transient absorption) properties were also determined. The highest quantum yield of photocurrent generation (11 %) among donor-acceptor linked systems which are covalently attached to the surface of ITO electrodes was achieved with SAMs of ferrocene-zinc porphyrin-fullerene linked triad on ITO electrodes. The quantum yields of photocurrent generation correlate well with the charge-separation efficiency and the lifetime of the charge-separated state of the porphyrin-fullerene linked systems in solution. These results provide valuable information for the construction of photonic molecular devices and artificial photosynthetic systems on ITO electrodes.  相似文献

Photoinduced electron transfer (PET) between alpha-cyclodextrin-appended pyrene (PYCD) and a few acceptor molecules was studied in aqueous solutions. The pyrene moiety in PYCD is located above the narrower rim of the alpha-CD and is fully exposed to water. The acceptors are monocyclic organic molecules and, upon dissolution in water in the presence of PYCD, a fraction of the donor-acceptor systems is present as supramolecular dyads and the remaining fraction as free molecules. Free-energy-dependence studies showed that electron transfer in the supramolecular dyads follows the Marcus equation. The donor-acceptor coupling and the reorganization energy were determined from fits of the data to the Marcus equation. The electronic coupling was found to be similar to those reported for hydrogen-bonded systems. It appears that the actual lambdaout values are somewhat lower than values calculated with the continuum model. The experimental design has also allowed, for the first time, a visual demonstration of the inverted region on the basis of the raw fluorescence lifetime data.  相似文献

Techniques in single-molecule fluorescence spectroscopy now allow sophisticated studies of photophysical processes in single molecules. As interest grows in the possibilities of molecular electronics, researchers have begun to turn these techniques to the study of electron transfer. Electron-transfer reactions have now been detected and measured at the single-molecule level in a variety of systems and on a variety of timescales by adapting techniques from previous single-molecule fluorescence studies.  相似文献

Two new fullerodendrimers, with two and four ferrocene units on their periphery, have been synthesized by 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions between the corresponding azomethine ylides and C(60). These new compounds have been studied by using cyclic voltammetry and UV/Vis spectroscopy. Weak intramolecular interactions between the fullerene cage and the ferrocene groups have been found. The photochemical events of both fullerene-ferrocene dendrimers have been probed by means of steady-state and time-resolved techniques. The steady-state emission intensities of the fulleropyrrolidine-ferrocene dendrimers 1 and 2 were found to be quenched relative to the N-methylfulleropyrrolidine without substituents that was used as a model. The nanosecond transient absorption spectral studies revealed efficient charge separation in both systems, even in toluene. The lifetimes of the (C(60))(*-)-(dendron)(*+) are higher for the second-generation fullerodendrimer (with four ferrocene units) and they are of the order of tens of nanoseconds in toluene and hundreds of nanoseconds in polar solvents.  相似文献

A series of zinc(II) porphyrin-imide dyads (ZP-Im), in which an electron donating ZP moiety is directly connected to an electron accepting imide moiety in the meso position, have been prepared for the examination of energy gap dependence of intramolecular electron transfer reactions with large electronic coupling. The nearly perpendicular conformation of the imide moiety towards the porphyrin plane has been revealed by Xray crystal structures. The energy gap for charge separation, 1ZP* - Im --> ZP+ - Im-, is varied by changing the electron accepting imide moiety to cover a range of about 0.8 eV in DMF. Definitive evidence for electron transfer has been obtained in three solvents (toluene, THF, and DMF) through picosecond-femtosecond transient absorption studies, which have allowed us to determine the rates of photoinduced charge separation, 1ZP* - Im --> ZP+ - Im-, and subsequent thermal charge recombination ZP+ - Im- --> ZP - Im. The free-energy gap dependence (energy gap law) has been probed from the normal to the nearly top region for the charge separation rate alone, and only the inverted region for the charge recombination rate. Although both of the energy gap dependencies can be approximately reproduced by means of the simplified semiclassical equation, when we take into consideration the effect of the high frequency vibrations replaced by one mode of averaged frequency, many features, including the effects of solvent polarity and the electron tunneling matrix element on the energy gap law, differ considerably from those of the previously studied porphyrin-quinone systems, which have weaker interchromophore electronic interactions.  相似文献

We describe a Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy (KPFM) study on the morphological and electronic properties of complex mono and bi-molecular ultrathin films self-assembled on mica. These architectures are made up from an electron-donor (D), a synthetic all-benzenoid polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon, and an electron-acceptor (A), perylene-bis-dicarboximide. The former molecule self-assembles into fibers in single component films, while the latter molecule forms discontinuous layers. Taking advantage of the different solubility and self-organizing properties of the A and D molecules, multicomponent ultrathin films characterized by nanoscale phase segregated fibers of D embedded in a discontinuous layer of A are formed. The direct estimation of the surface potential, and consequently the local workfunction from KPFM images allow a comparison of the local electronic properties of the blend with those of the monocomponent films. A change in the average workfunction values of the A and D nanostructures in the blend occurs which is primarily caused by the intimate contact between the two components and the molecular order within the nanostructure self-assembled at the surface. Additional roles can be ascribed to the molecular packing density, to the presence of defects in the film, to the different conformation of the aliphatic peripheral chains that might cover the conjugated core and to the long-range nature of the electrostatic interactions employed to map the surface by KPFM limiting the spatial and potential resolution. The local workfunction studies of heterojunctions can be of help to tune the electronic properties of active multicomponent films, which is crucial for the fabrication of efficient organic electronic devices as solar cells.  相似文献

Electronic interactions within the nanoensemble were probed by optical spectroscopy, indicating electron transfer between the TTF units and CNHs after light illumination.  相似文献

Three ruthenium(II) polypyridine complexes of general formula [Ru(bpy)(3-n)(TTF-dppz)n](PF6)2 (n=1-3, bpy=2,2'-bipyridine), with one, two or three redox-active TTF-dppz (4',5'-bis(propylthio)tetrathiafulvenyl[i]dipyrido[3,2-a:2',3'-c]phenazine) ligands, were synthesised and fully characterised. Their electrochemical and photophysical properties are reported together with those of the reference compounds [Ru(bpy)3](PF6)2, [Ru(dppz)3](PF6)2 and [Ru(bpy)2(dppz)](PF6)2 and the free TTF-dppz ligand. All three complexes show intraligand charge-transfer (ILCT) fluorescence of the TTF-dppz ligand. Remarkably, the complex with n=1 exhibits luminescence from the Ru(2+)-->dppz metal-to-ligand charge-transfer ((3)MLCT) state, whereas for the other two complexes, a radiationless pathway via electron transfer from a second TTF-dppz ligand quenches the (3)MLCT luminescence. The TTF fragments as electron donors thus induce a ligand-to-ligand charge-separated (LLCS) state of the form TTF-dppz- -Ru(2+)-dppz-TTF(+). The lifetime of this LLCS state is approximately 2.3 micros, which is four orders of magnitude longer than that of 0.4 ns for the ILCT state, because recombination of charges on two different ligands is substantially slower.  相似文献

An ammonium ion-crown ether interaction has been successfully used to construct porphyrin-single-walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) donor-acceptor hybrids. The [18]crown-6 to alkyl ammonium ion binding strategy resulted in porphyrin-SWNT nanohybrids that are stable and soluble in DMF. The porphyrin-SWNT hybrids were characterized by spectroscopic, TEM, and electrochemical techniques. Both steady-state and time-resolved emission studies revealed efficient quenching of the singlet excited state of the porphyrins and free-energy calculations suggested that electron-transfer quenching occurred. Nanosecond transient absorption spectral results supported the charge-separation quenching process. Charge-stabilization was also observed for the nanohybrids in which the lifetime of the radical ion pairs was around 100 ns. The present nanohybrids were also used to reduce the hexyl viologen dication (HV2+) and to oxidize 1-benzyl-1,4-dihydronicotinamide in solution in an electron-pooling experiment. Accumulation of the radical cation (HV.+) was observed in high yields, which provided additional proof for the occurrence of photoinduced charge separation. The present study demonstrates that a hydrogen-bonding motif is a successful self-assembly method to build SWNTs bearing donor-acceptor nanohybrids, which are useful for light-energy harvesting and photovoltaic applications.  相似文献

A meso,meso-linked porphyrin trimer, (ZnP)3, as a light-harvesting chromophore, has been incorporated for the first time into a photosynthetic multistep electron-transfer model including ferrocene (Fc) as an electron donor and fullerene (C60) as an electron acceptor, to construct the ferrocene-meso,meso-linked porphyrin trimer-fullerene system Fc-(ZnP)3-C60. Photoirradiation of Fc-(ZnP)3-C60 results in photoinduced electron transfer from both the singlet and triplet excited states of the porphyrin trimer, 1(ZnP)3* and 3(ZnP)3*, to the C60 moiety to produce the porphyrin trimer radical cation-C60 radical anion pair, Fc-(ZnP)3*+-C60*-. Subsequent formation of the final charge-separated state Fc+-(ZnP)3-C60*- was confirmed by the transient absorption spectra observed by pico- and nanosecond time-resolved laser flash photolysis. The final charge-separated state decays, obeying first-order kinetics, with a long lifetime (0.53 s in DMF at 163 K) that is comparable with that of the natural bacterial photosynthetic reaction center. More importantly, the quantum yield of formation of the final charge-separated state (0.83 in benzonitrile) remains high, despite the large separation distance between the Fc+ and C60*- moieties. Such a high quantum yield results from efficient charge separation through the porphyrin trimer, whereas a slow charge recombination is associated with the localized porphyrin radical cation in the porphyrin trimer. The light-harvesting efficiency in the visible region has also been much improved in Fc-(ZnP)3-C60 because of exciton coupling in the porphyrin trimer as well as an increase in the number of porphyrins.  相似文献
