The behavior of the neutral stability curves is investigated for various values of the particle relaxation time and mass concentration 0 100 and 0 f 0.1. It is shown that as increases from zero the flow is at first destabilized and then at >6 becomes stable, while at >40 the stabilizing effect of the dispersed phase grows weaker. Experimental evidence is presented to show that when cross-linked natural rubber samples are heated in air whilst subject to a pure shear strain and subsequently freed of all forces the new force-free or set state is not related to the original force-free state by a pure shear. During a pure shear linear elements along one of the principal directions of strain remain unchanged in length; it is shown that these elements undergo an increase in length as a result of the recovery after heating. The results are compared with the predictions of the two-network theory of permanent set propounded by previous workers.
Zusammenfassung Vernetzte Naturkautschuk-Proben, in Luft erhitzt, zeigen bei gleicher Beanspruchung mit reiner Scherung und anschließender Entlastung einen neuen spannungsfreien (oder gesetzten) Zustand, der mit dem ursprünglichen spannungsfreien Zustand nicht durch eine reine Scherung in Beziehung steht. Durch eine solche bleiben lineare Elemente entlang einer der Hauptachsen der Spannung in ihrer Länge unverändert; es. wird gezeigt, daß diese Elemente an Länge bei der Erholung nach dem Aufheizen zunehmen. Die Resultate werden mit den Voraussagen der Zweinetzwerk-Theorie des permanent set der Autoren verglichen.

In this paper we develop the averaged form of the Stokes equations in terms of weighting functions. The analysis clearly indicates at what point one must choose a media-specific weighting function in order to achieve spatially smoothed transport equations. We are concerned with the coerciveness of the strain energy E(u) (in linear elasticity) associated with a displacement vector u on the Sobolev space H1 () or its subspaces, a domain in n representing an isotropic elastic body—certain specific cases are called Korn's inequalities. Sufficient (and necessary) conditions on the Lamé moduli for E(·) to be coercive (or uniformly positive) on such spaces are given, and the associated best possible constants are obtained for some cases.  相似文献

We consider the parametrized family of equations tt ,u- xx u-au+u 2 2 u=O,x(0,L), with Dirichlet boundary conditions. This equation has finite-dimensional invariant manifolds of solutions. Studying the reduced equation to a four-dimensional manifold, we prove the existence of transversal homoclinic orbits to periodic solutions and of invariant sets with chaotic dynamics, provided that =2, 3, 4,.... For =1 we prove the existence of infinitely many first integrals pairwise in involution.  相似文献

The results of investigations of inviscid flow over inverted cones with nose consisting of a spherical segment were published for the first time in Soviet literature in [1–4]. In the present paper, a numerical solution to this problem is obtained using the improved algorithms of [5, 6], which have proved themselves well in problems of exterior flow over surfaces with positive angles of inclination to the oncoming flow. It is shown that the Mach number 2 M , equilibrium and nonequilibrium physicochemical transformations in air (H = 60 km, V = 7.4 km/sec, R0 = 1 m), and the angle of attack 0 40° influence the investigated pressure distributions. A comparison of the results of the calculations with drainage experiments for M = 6, = 0-25° confirms the extended region of applicability of the developed numerical methods. The unsteady laminar boundary layer flow is investigated for a semi-infinite flat plate subjected to impulsive motion. An approximate solution is obtained by utilizing Meksyn's method. In marine geophysical seismological prospecting extensive use is made of towed receiving systems consisting of extended flexible cylinders containing acoustic sensors over which the water flows in the longitudinal direction. The boundary layer pressure fluctuations on the cylinder surface are picked up by the sensors as hydrodynamic noise. This paper is concerned with the study of the energy and spacetime characteristics of the pressure fluctuations in the turbulent boundary layer on an extended flexible cylinder in a longitudinal flow. The pressure fluctuations on the cylinder surface have been investigated experimentally for ReX=(2–4)·107, a dimensionless diameter of the pressure fluctuation sensors d p + =dpu*/=500, where dp is the sensor diameter, u* the dynamic viscosity, and the viscosity coefficient, and frequencies 0.02311.259 (=*/U). The problem of laminar, natural convection flow over a slender frustum of a cone is treated in this paper. The governing differential equations are solved by a combination of quasi-linearization and finite-difference methods. Numerical solutions are obtained for Pr=0.7 and for a range of values of the transverse curvature parameter. It is shown that the effect of transverse curvature is of great significance in such flows.

Zusammenfassung In diesem Bericht ist das Problem der laminaren natürlichen Konvektionsströmung an einem dünnen Kegelstumpf behandelt. Die maßgebliche Differentialgleichung ist durch eine Verbindung von Quasilinearisation und Differenzenverfahren gelöst. Eine numerische Lösung für Pr=0.7 wird für verschiedene Werte eines Krümmungsparameters angegeben. Es ist gezeigt, daß in solchen Strömungen dieser Krümmungsparameter eine große Bedeutung besitzt.

We study and obtain formulas for the asymptotic behavior as ¦x¦ of C 2 solutions of the semilinear equation u=f(x, u), x (*) where is the complement of some ball in n and f is continuous and nonlinear in u. If, for large x, f is nearly radially symmetric in x, we give conditions under which each positive solution of (*) is asymptotic, as ¦x¦, to some radially symmetric function. Our results can also be useful when f is only bounded above or below by a function which is radially symmetric in x or when the solution oscillates in sign. For many solid materials the stress relaxation process obeys the universal relationF = – (d/d lnt)max = (0.1 ± 0.01) ( 0 i ), regardless of the structure of the material. Here denotes the stress,t the time, 0 the initial stress of the experiment and i the internal stress. A cooperative model accounting for the similarity in relaxation behaviour between different materials was developed earlier. Since this model has a spectral character, the concepts of linear viscoelasticity are used here to evaluate the corresponding prediction of the dynamic mechanical properties, i.e. the frequency dependence of the storageE () and lossE () moduli. Useful numerical approximations ofE () andE () are also evaluated. It is noted that the universal relation in stress relaxation had a counterpart in the frequency dependence ofE (). The theoretical prediction of the loss factor for high-density polyethylene is compared with experimental results. The agreement is good.  相似文献

The deformation of particle image patterns due to velocity gradients causes errors of velocity measurements and false velocity detections in PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry). A novel technique to overcome those limitations inherent in the conventional PIV by correcting the particle image pattern according to the local velocity gradients in two dimensional flows, i.e. u/x, u/y, v/x and v/y, is proposed and successfully applied to a water flow downstream of a backward facing step.  相似文献

A new analytical solution is introduced for the effect of viscous dissipation on mixed convection flow and heat transfer about an isothermal vertical wall embedded in Darcy and non-Darcy porous media with uniform free stream velocity. The effect of viscous dissipation on mixed convection in both regimes has been analyzed for both the aiding and opposing flows using Gebhart number, Ge x =gx/c p. The governing parameters are Re, Ra, Pe and Ge x . The case of Re=0 corresponds to Darcy mixed convection region and Re/Pe is identified as the mixed convection governing parameter, Ra=0 leading to pure forced convection. A good agreement was found between the numerical and analytical solutions. It was found from the Nusselt number results that viscous dissipation lowers the heat transfer rate in both Darcy and Forchheimer flow regimes for aiding as well as opposing flows.  相似文献

An analytical and numerical study of protective properties of hotair screens is performed for a plane wave with a triangular profile. The reduction of the shockwave pressure behind the screen is only observed at temperatures higher a certain critical value; at lower temperatures, the pressure is higher than that in a shock wave traveling in an isothermal gas. With allowance for real properties of air, an analytical relation between the critical temperature of the hot screen and the incidentwave intensity is obtained.  相似文献

We examine the case when equally sized small moons arrange themselves on the vertices of a regular n-gon for n 7. For n 4, there are at least 3 pure imaginary characteristic exponents, each of which has multiplicity = 1, a surprising result that makes it possible to apply the Lyapunov center theorem to verify the existence of some periodic perturbations. For sufficiently large n, when the regular n-gon is the unique central configuration, the number of families of periodic perturbations is at least equal to 2n – (n + 1)/4, where x is the greatest integer less than or equal to x.  相似文献

Summary The stress functions(, y) of shafts with deep longitudinal grooves may be represented by(, y) =F(x, y) –(, y) whereF(x, y) is the stress function of a cylindrical shaft without grooves and(, y) denotes the potential function of the source-sink system. It is shown that the shearing stresses in rotors of screw-compressors may be obtained in this way.
