We introduce in this work some normed space notions such as norming, thin and thick sets in general locally convex spaces. We also study some effects of thick sets on the uniform boundedness-like principles in locally convex spaces such as “weak*-bounded sets are strong*-bounded if and only if the space is a Banach–Mackey space”. It is proved that these principles occur under some weaker conditions by means of thick sets. Further, we show that the thickness is a duality invariant, that is, all compatible topologies for some locally convex space have the same thick sets.  相似文献

The Carathéodory problem in the N-variable non-commutative Herglotz-Agler class and the Carathéodory-Fejér problem in the N-variable non-commutative Schur-Agler class are posed. It is shown that the Carathéodory (resp., Carathéodory-Fejér) problem has a solution if and only if the non-commutative polynomial with given operator coefficients (the data of the problem indexed by an admissible set Λ) takes operator values with positive semidefinite real part (resp., contractive operator values) on N-tuples of Λ-jointly nilpotent contractive n×n matrices, for all nN.  相似文献

We give a new solvability criterion for the boundary Carathéodory-Fejér problem: given a point xR and, a finite set of target values, to construct a function f in the Pick class such that the first few derivatives of f take on the prescribed target values at x. We also derive a linear fractional parametrization of the set of solutions of the interpolation problem with real target values. The proofs are based on a reduction method due to Julia and Nevanlinna.  相似文献

In 2003, N. De Grande-De Kimpe, J. Kąkol and C. Perez-Garcia using t-frames and some machinery concerning tensor products proved that compactoid sets in non-archimedean (LM)-spaces (i.e. the inductive limits of a sequence of non-archimedean metrizable locally convex spaces) are metrizable. In this paper we show a similar result for a large class of non-archimedean locally convex space with a £-base, i.e. a decreasing base (Uα)αNN of neighbourhoods of zero. This extends the first mentioned result since every non-archimedean (LM)-space has a £-base. We also prove that compactoid sets in non-archimedean (DF)-spaces are metrizable.  相似文献

Let be a densely defined operator on a Banach space X. Characterizations of when generates a C0‐semigroup on X are known. The famous result of Lumer and Phillips states that it is so if and only if is dissipative and is dense in X for some . There exists also a rich amount of Banach space results concerning perturbations of dissipative operators. In a recent paper Tyran–Kamińska provides perturbation criteria of dissipative operators in terms of ergodic properties. These results, and others, are shown to remain valid in the setting of general non–normable locally convex spaces. Applications of the results to concrete examples of operators on function spaces are also presented.  相似文献

The aim of the present paper is to study precompactness and compactness within the framework of asymmetric locally convex spaces, defined and studied by the author in [S. Cobza?, Asymmetric locally convex spaces, Int. J. Math. Math. Sci. 2005 (16) (2005) 2585-2608]. The obtained results extend some results on compactness in asymmetric normed spaces proved by [L.M. García-Raffi, Compactness and finite dimension in asymmetric normed linear spaces, Topology Appl. 153 (2005) 844-853], and [C. Alegre, I. Ferrando, L.M. García-Raffi, E.A. We introduce the classes of locally convex spaces with the local Dunford-Pettis property and locally dual Schur spaces. We examine their properties and their relationship to other classes of locally convex spaces. In the class of locally convex spaces with the local Dunford-Pettis property all polynomials are weakly sequentially continuous whereas in the class of locally dual Schur spaces all polynomials are weakly continuous on bounded sets. Given a point-to-set map S: X → 2X and a point-to-set map T: X → 2E, the generalized quasi-variational inequality problem (GQVI) is to find a point y? ? S(y?) and a point u? ? T(y?) such that Reu?, y? ? x〉 ? 0 for all x ? S(y?). By using the Ky Fan minimax principle or its generalized version as a tool, some general theorems on solutions of the GQVI in locally convex Hausdorff topological vector spaces are obtained which include a fixed point theorem due to Ky Fan and I. L. Glicksberg, and two different multivalued versions of the Hartman-Stampacchia variational inequality.  相似文献

Our main result states that the hyperspace of convex compact subsets of a compact convex subset X in a locally convex space is an absolute retract if and only if X is an absolute retract of weight ?ω1. It is also proved that the hyperspace of convex compact subsets of the Tychonov cube Iω1 is homeomorphic to Iω1. An analogous result is also proved for the cone over Iω1. Our proofs are based on analysis of maps of hyperspaces of compact convex subsets, in particular, selection theorems for such maps are proved.  相似文献
