Given a compressed Artin level algebra A which satisfies certain properties, it is possible to use this algebra to construct a Gorenstein Artin algebra with a nonunimodal Hilbert function. The aim of this paper is to investigate a new link between integrable systems and minimal surface theory. The dressing operation uses the associated family of flat connections of a harmonic map to construct new harmonic maps. Since a minimal surface in 3-space is a Willmore surface, its conformal Gauss map is harmonic and a dressing on the conformal Gauss map can be defined. We study the induced transformation on minimal surfaces in the simplest case, the simple factor dressing, and show that the well-known López–Ros deformation of minimal surfaces is a special case of this transformation. We express the simple factor dressing and the López–Ros deformation explicitly in terms of the minimal surface and its conjugate surface. In particular, we can control periods and end behaviour of the simple factor dressing. This allows to construct new examples of doubly-periodic minimal surfaces arising as simple factor dressings of Scherk’s first surface.

We give a new method for manufacturing complete minimal submanifolds of compact Lie groups and their homogeneous quotient spaces. For this we make use of harmonic morphisms and basic representation theory of Lie groups. We consider a class of weakly o‐minimal structures admitting an o‐minimal style cell decomposition, for which one can construct certain canonical o‐minimal extension. The paper contains several fundamental facts concerning the structures in question. Among other things, it is proved that the strong cell decomposition property is preserved under elementary equivalences. We also investigate fiberwise properties (of definable sets and definable functions), definable equivalence relations, and conditions implying elimination of imaginaries.  相似文献

We describe a new deformation that connects minimal disks with planar ends with minimal disks with helicoidal ends. We show that a totally geodesic submanifold of a symmetric space satisfying certain conditions admits an extension to a minimal submanifold of dimension one higher, and we apply this result to construct new examples of complete embedded minimal submanifolds in simply connected noncompact globally symmetric spaces.

We define two transforms between minimal surfaces with non-circular ellipse of curvature in the 5-sphere, and show how this enables us to construct, from one such surface, a sequence of such surfaces. We also use the transforms to show how to associate to such a surface a corresponding ruled minimal Lagrangian submanifold of complex projective 3-space, which gives the converse of a construction considered in a previous paper, and illustrate this explicitly in the case of bipolar minimal surfaces.  相似文献

We study isometric embeddings of some solutions of the Einstein equations with sufficiently high symmetries into a flat ambient space. We briefly describe a method for constructing surfaces with a given symmetry. We discuss all minimal embeddings of the Schwarzschild metric obtained using this method and show how the method can be used to construct all minimal embeddings for the Friedmann models. We classify all the embeddings in terms of realizations of symmetries of the corresponding solutions.  相似文献

We show a method to construct orientable minimal surfaces in with arbitrary topology. This procedure gives complete examples of two different kinds: surfaces whose Gauss map omits four points of the sphere and surfaces with a bounded coordinate function. We also apply these ideas to construct stable minimal surfaces with high topology which are incomplete or complete with boundary.

We introduced here an interesting tool for the structural study of chordal graphs, namely the Reduced Clique Graph. Using some of its combinatorial properties we show that for any chordal graph we can construct in linear time a simplicial elimination scheme starting with a pending maximal clique attached via a minimal separator maximal under inclusion among all minimal separators.  相似文献
