We give explicit constructions of sets S with the property that for each integer k, there are at most g solutions to k=s1+s2,siS; such sets are called Sidon sets if g=2 and generalized Sidon sets if g?3. We extend to generalized Sidon sets the Sidon-set constructions of Singer, Bose, and Ruzsa. We also further optimize Kolountzakis’ idea of interleaving several copies of a Sidon set, extending the improvements of Cilleruelo, Ruzsa and Trujillo, Jia, and Habsieger and Plagne. The resulting constructions yield the largest known generalized Sidon sets in virtually all cases.  相似文献

Given two nonnegative integers s and t, a graph G is (s,t)-supereulerian if for any disjoint sets X,YE(G) with |X|≤s and |Y|≤t, there is a spanning eulerian subgraph H of G that contains X and avoids Y. We prove that if G is connected and locally k-edge-connected, then G is (s,t)-supereulerian, for any pair of nonnegative integers s and t with s+tk−1. We further show that if s+tk and G is a connected, locally k-edge-connected graph, then for any disjoint sets X,YE(G) with |X|≤s and |Yt, there is a spanning eulerian subgraph H that contains X and avoids Y, if and only if GY is not contractible to K2 or to K2,l with l odd.  相似文献

For a given permutation matrix P, let fP(n) be the maximum number of 1-entries in an n×n(0,1)-matrix avoiding P and let SP(n) be the set of all n×n permutation matrices avoiding P. The Füredi-Hajnal conjecture asserts that cP:=limn→∞fP(n)/n is finite, while the Stanley-Wilf conjecture asserts that is finite. In 2004, Marcus and Tardos proved the Füredi-Hajnal conjecture, which together with the reduction introduced by Klazar in 2000 proves the Stanley-Wilf conjecture. We focus on the values of the Stanley-Wilf limit (sP) and the Füredi-Hajnal limit (cP). We improve the reduction and obtain which decreases the general upper bound on sP from sP?constconstO(klog(k)) to sP?constO(klog(k)) for any k×k permutation matrix P. In the opposite direction, we show .For a lower bound, we present for each k a k×k permutation matrix satisfying cP=Ω(k2).  相似文献

A nonincreasing sequence of nonnegative integers π=(d1,d2,…,dn) is graphic if there is a (simple) graph G of order n having degree sequence π. In this case, G is said to realizeπ. For a given graph H, a graphic sequence π is potentiallyH-graphic if there is some realization of π containing H as a (weak) subgraph. Let σ(π) denote the sum of the terms of π. For a graph H and nZ+, σ(H,n) is defined as the smallest even integer m so that every n-term graphic sequence π with σ(π)≥m is potentially H-graphic. Let denote the complete t partite graph such that each partite set has exactly s vertices. We show that and obtain the exact value of σ(Kj+Ks,s,n) for n sufficiently large. Consequently, we obtain the exact value of for n sufficiently large.  相似文献

A graph X, with a subgroup G of the automorphism group of X, is said to be (G,s)-transitive, for some s≥1, if G is transitive on s-arcs but not on (s+1)-arcs, and s-transitive if it is -transitive. Let X be a connected (G,s)-transitive graph, and Gv the stabilizer of a vertex vV(X) in G. If X has valency 5 and Gv is solvable, Weiss [R.M. Weiss, An application of p-factorization methods to symmetric graphs, Math. Proc. Camb. Phil. Soc. 85 (1979) 43-48] proved that s≤3, and in this paper we prove that Gv is isomorphic to the cyclic group Z5, the dihedral group D10 or the dihedral group D20 for s=1, the Frobenius group F20 or F20×Z2 for s=2, or F20×Z4 for s=3. Furthermore, it is shown that for a connected 1-transitive Cayley graph of valency 5 on a non-abelian simple group G, the automorphism group of is the semidirect product , where R(G) is the right regular representation of G and .  相似文献

Let D be a directed graph; the (l,ω)-Independence Number of graph D, denoted by αl,ω(D), is an important performance parameter for interconnection networks. De Bruijn networks and Kautz networks, denoted by B(d,n) and K(d,n) respectively, are versatile and efficient topological structures of interconnection networks. For l=1,2,…,n, this paper shows that αl,d−1(B(d,n))=dn,αl,d−1(K(d,n))=αl,d(K(d,n))=dn+dn−1 if d≥3 and nd−2. In particular, the paper shows the exact value of the Independence Number for B(d,1) and B(d,2) for any d. For the generalized situation, the paper obtains a lower bound αl,d−1(B(d,n))≥d2 if n≥3 and d≥5.  相似文献

For d≥1, s≥0 a (d,d+s)-graph is a graph whose degrees all lie in the interval {d,d+1,…,d+s}. For r≥1, a≥0 an (r,r+a)-factor of a graph G is a spanning (r,r+a)-subgraph of G. An (r,r+a)-factorization of a graph G is a decomposition of G into edge-disjoint (r,r+a)-factors. A graph is (r,r+a)-factorable if it has an (r,r+a)-factorization.We prove a number of results about (r,r+a)-factorizations of (d,d+s)-bipartite multigraphs and of (d,d+s)-pseudographs (multigraphs with loops permitted). For example, for t≥1 let β(r,s,a,t) be the least integer such that, if dβ(r,s,a,t) then every (d,d+s)-bipartite multigraph G is (r,r+a)-factorable with x(r,r+a)-factors for at least t different values of x. Then we show that

We investigate a limiting uniqueness criterion to the Navier-Stokes equations. We prove that the mild solution is unique under the class , where bmo-1 is the “critical” space including Ln. As an application of uniqueness theorem, we also consider the local well-posedness of Navier-Stokes equations in bmo-1.  相似文献

Let G be a graph and d(u) denote the degree of a vertex u in G. The zeroth-order general Randi? index 0Rα(G) of the graph G is defined as ∑uV(G)d(u)α, where the summation goes over all vertices of G and α is an arbitrary real number. In this paper we correct the proof of the main Theorem 3.5 of the paper by Hu et al. [Y. Hu, X. Li, Y. Shi, T. Xu, Connected (n,m)-graphs with minimum and maximum zeroth-order general Randi? index, Discrete Appl. Math. 155 (8) (2007) 1044-1054] and give a more general Theorem. We finally characterize 1 for α<0 the connected G(n,m)-graphs with maximum value 0Rα(G(n,m)), where G(n,m) is a simple connected graph with n vertices and m edges.  相似文献

We consider a BBM(mn) equation which is a generalization of the celebrated Benjamin-Bona-Mahony equation with generalized evolution term. By using two solitary wave ansatze in terms of sechp(x) and tanhp(x) functions, we find exact analytical bright and dark soliton solutions for the considered model. The physical parameters in the soliton solutions are obtained as function of the dependent model coefficients. The conditions of existence of solitons are presented. Note that, it is always useful and desirable to construct exact analytical solutions especially soliton-type envelope for the understanding of most nonlinear physical phenomena.  相似文献

In this note we complete an investigation started by Erd?s in 1963 that aims to find the strongest possible conclusion from the hypothesis of Turán’s theorem in extremal graph theory.Let be the complete r-partite graph with parts of sizes s1≥2,s2,…,sr with an edge added to the first part. Letting tr(n) be the number of edges of the r-partite Turán graph of order n, we prove that:For all r≥2 and all sufficiently small c>0, every graph of sufficiently large order n with tr(n)+1 edges contains a .We also give a corresponding stability theorem and two supporting results of wider scope.  相似文献

We investigate the class R∞,s of rapidly varying sequences from different points of view. It is shown: (1) a sequence (cn)nN of positive real numbers is rapidly varying if and only if the corresponding function xc[x], x?1, is rapidly varying; (2) the class R∞,s satisfies some selection properties, as well as game-theoretical and Ramsey-theoretical conditions.  相似文献

In this paper we present two different methods for filling in a hole in an explicit 3D surface, defined by a smooth function f in a part of a polygonal domain DR2. We obtain the final reconstructed surface over the whole domain D. We do the filling in two different ways: discontinuous and continuous. In the discontinuous case, we fill the hole with a function in a Powell-Sabin spline space that minimizes a linear combination of the usual seminorms in an adequate Sobolev space, and approximates (in the least squares sense) the values of f and those of its normal derivatives at an adequate set of points. In the continuous case, we will first replace f outside the hole by a smoothing bivariate spline sf, and then we fill the hole also with a Powell-Sabin spline minimizing a linear combination of given seminorms. In both cases, we obtain existence and uniqueness of solutions and we present some graphical examples, and, in the continuous case, we also give a local convergence result.  相似文献

The pair length of a graph G is the maximum positive integer k, such that the vertex set of G can be partitioned into disjoint pairs {x,x}, such that d(x,x)?k for every xV(G) and xy is an edge of G whenever xy is an edge. Chen asked whether the pair length of the cartesian product of two graphs is equal to the sum of their pair lengths. Our aim in this short note is to prove this result.  相似文献

An edge-ordering of a graph G=(V,E) is a one-to-one function f from E to a subset of the set of positive integers. A path P in G is called an f-ascent if f increases along the edge sequence of P. The heighth(f) of f is the maximum length of an f-ascent in G.In this paper we deal with computational problems concerning finding ascents in graphs. We prove that for a given edge-ordering f of a graph G the problem of determining the value of h(f) is NP-hard. In particular, the problem of deciding whether there is an f-ascent containing all the vertices of G is NP-complete. We also study several variants of this problem, discuss randomized and deterministic approaches and provide an algorithm for the finding of ascents of order at least k in graphs of order n in running time O(4knO(1)).  相似文献

The geodesic and induced path transit functions are the two well-studied interval functions in graphs. Two important transit functions related to the geodesic and induced path functions are the triangle path transit functions which consist of all vertices on all u,v-shortest (induced) paths or all vertices adjacent to two adjacent vertices on all u,v-shortest (induced) paths, for any two vertices u and v in a connected graph G. In this paper we study the two triangle path transit functions, namely the IΔ and JΔ on G. We discuss the betweenness axioms, for both triangle path transit functions. Also we present a characterization of pseudo-modular graphs using the transit function IΔ by forbidden subgraphs.  相似文献

For a positive integer k, a k-packing in a graph G is a subset A of vertices such that the distance between any two distinct vertices from A is more than k. The packing chromatic number of G is the smallest integer m such that the vertex set of G can be partitioned as V1,V2,…,Vm where Vi is an i-packing for each i. It is proved that the planar triangular lattice T and the three-dimensional integer lattice Z3 do not have finite packing chromatic numbers.  相似文献

An L(h,k)-labeling of a graph G is an integer labeling of vertices of G, such that adjacent vertices have labels which differ by at least h, and vertices at distance two have labels which differ by at least k. The span of an L(h,k)-labeling is the difference between the largest and the smallest label. We investigate L(h,k)-labelings of trees of maximum degree Δ, seeking those with small span. Given Δ, h and k, span λ is optimal for the class of trees of maximum degree Δ, if λ is the smallest integer such that every tree of maximum degree Δ has an L(h,k)-labeling with span at most λ. For all parameters Δ,h,k, such that h<k, we construct L(h,k)-labelings with optimal span. We also establish optimal span of L(h,k)-labelings for stars of arbitrary degree and all values of h and k.  相似文献
