This paper attempts to investigate the problem for the interaction between a uniformly moving screw dislocation and interface rigid lines in two dissimilar.anisotropic. materials. Integrating Riemann-Schwarz's symmetry principle with the analysis singularity of complex functions, we present the general elastic solutions of this problem and the closed form solutions for interfaces containing one and two rigid lines. The expressions of stress intensity factors, at the rigid line tips and image force acting on moving dislocation are derived explicitly. The results show that dislocation velocity has an antishielding effect on the rigid line tip and a larger dislocation velocity leads to the equilibrium position of dislocation closing with the rigid line. The presented solutions contain previously known results as the special cases.  相似文献

A unified phenomenological model is developed to study the dislocation glide through weak obstacles during the first stage of plastic deformation in metals. This model takes into account both the dynamical responses of dislocations during the flight process and thermal activations while dislocations are bound by obstacle arrays. The average thermal activation rate is estimated using an analytical model based on the generalized Friedel relations. Then, the average flight velocity after an activation event is obtained numerically by discrete dislocation dynamics (DD). To simulate the dynamical dislocation behavior, the inertia term is implemented into the equation of dislocation motion within the DD code. The results from the DD simulations, coupled with the analytical model, determine the total dislocation velocity as a function of the stress and temperatures. By choosing parameters typical of the face centered cubic metals, the model reproduces both obstacle control and drag control motion in low and high velocity regimes, respectively. As expected by other string models, dislocation overshoots of obstacles caused by the dislocation inertia at the collisions are enhanced as temperature goes down.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the global in time existence problem for the Groma-Balogh model describing the dynamics of dislocation densities. This model is a two-dimensional model where the dislocation densities satisfy a system of transport equations such that the velocity vector field is the shear stress in the material, solving the equations of elasticity. This shear stress can be expressed as some Riesz transform of the dislocation densities. The main tool in the proof of this result is the existence of an entropy for this system.

The recent diagnostic capability of the Omega laser to study solid-solid phase transitions at pressures greater than 10 GPa and at strain rates exceeding 107 s−1 has also provided valuable information on the dynamic elastic-plastic behavior of materials. We have found, for example, that plasticity kinetics modifies the effective loading and thermodynamic paths of the material. In this paper we derive a kinetics equation for the time-dependent plastic response of the material to dynamic loading, and describe the model’s implementation in a radiation-hydrodynamics computer code. This model for plasticity kinetics incorporates the Gilman model for dislocation multiplication and saturation. We discuss the application of this model to the simulation of experimental velocity interferometry data for experiments on Omega in which Fe was shock compressed to pressures beyond the α-to-ε phase transition pressure. The kinetics model is shown to fit the data reasonably well in this high strain rate regime and further allows quantification of the relative contributions of dislocation multiplication and drag. The sensitivity of the observed signatures to the kinetics model parameters is presented.  相似文献

We present a continuum framework for dislocation structure, energy and dynamics of dislocation arrays and low angle grain boundaries that are allowed to be nonplanar or nonequilibrium. In our continuum framework, we define a dislocation density potential function on the dislocation array surface or grain boundary to describe the orientation dependent continuous distribution of dislocations in a very simple and accurate way. The continuum formulations incorporate both the long-range dislocation interaction and the local dislocation line energy, and are derived from the discrete dislocation model. The continuum framework recovers the classical Read–Shockley energy formula when the long-range elastic fields of the low angle grain boundaries are canceled out. Applications of our continuum framework in this paper are focused on dislocation structures on static planar and nonplanar low angle grain boundaries and misfitting interfaces. We present two methods under our continuum framework for this purpose, including the method based on the Frank׳s formula and the energy minimization method. We show that for any (planar or nonplanar) low angle grain boundary, the Frank׳s formula holds if and only if the long-range stress field in the continuum model is canceled out, and it does not necessarily hold for a total energy minimum dislocation structure.  相似文献

We study the interaction of a singularly-perturbed multiwell energy (with an anisotropic nonlocal regularizing term of H 1/2 type) and a pinning condition. This functional arises in a phase field model for dislocations which was recently proposed by Koslowski, Cuitiño and Ortiz, but it is also of broader mathematical interest. In the context of the dislocation model we identify the Γ-limit of the energy in all scaling regimes for the number N ? of obstacles. The most interesting regime is N ? ≈|ln ?|/?, where ? is a nondimensional length scale related to the size of the crystal lattice. In this case the limiting model is of line tension type. One important feature of our model is that the set of energy wells is periodic, and hence not compact. Thus a key ingredient in the proof is a compactness estimate (up to a single translation) for finite energy sequences, which generalizes earlier results from Alberti, Bouchitté and Seppecher for the two-well problem with a H 1/2 regularization.  相似文献

A theory of gradient micropolar elasticity based on first gradients of distortion and bend-twist tensors for an isotropic micropolar medium has been proposed in Part I of this paper. Gradient micropolar elasticity is an extension of micropolar elasticity such that in addition to double stresses double couple stresses also appear. The strain energy depends on the micropolar distortion and bend-twist terms as well as on distortion and bend-twist gradients. We use a version of this gradient theory which can be connected to Eringen's nonlocal micropolar elasticity. The theory is used to study a straight-edge dislocation and a straight-wedge disclination. As one important result, we obtained nonsingular expressions for the force and couple stresses. For the edge dislocation the components of the force stress have extremum values near the dislocation line and those of the couple stress have extremum values at the dislocation line and for the wedge disclination the components of the force stress have extremum values at the disclination line and those of the couple stress have extremum values near the disclination line.  相似文献

In this paper we extend some of our previous works on continua with stress threshold. In particular here we propose a mathematical model for a continuum which behaves as a non-linear upper convected Maxwell fluid if the stress is above a certain threshold and as a Oldroyd-B type fluid if the stress is below such a threshold. We derive the constitutive equations for each phase exploiting the theory of natural configurations (introduced by Rajagopal and co-workers) and the criterion of the maximization of the rate of dissipation. We state the mathematical problem for a one-dimensional flow driven by a constant pressure gradient and study two peculiar cases in which the velocity of the inner part of the fluid is spatially homogeneous.  相似文献

Experiments with transmission electron microscopy have shown that in a strong electron beam the contrast of dislocations may gradually disappear at an incoherent interface between a metal thin film and an amorphous substrate. There are reasons to believe that this phenomenon is caused by radiation-induced dislocation core spreading at the interface. A quantitative model accounting for this effect will be necessary for a better understanding of dislocation structures and plastic deformation in metal thin films. As a first step toward this objective, we develop a number of mathematical solutions for dislocation core spreading at an incoherent interface. For simplicity, we consider screw dislocations, and consider the interface to be characterized by a shear adhesive strength, τ0, below which no core spreading occurs, and above which spreading takes place in a viscous manner. We determine the final equilibrium core width and the rate of core spreading for single or planar arrays of dislocations in a homogeneous bulk material or at the interface between a thin film and a semi-infinite substrate where the film and substrate may have the same, or different, elastic constants. Some of our solutions are analytic and others are based on an implicit finite difference method with a Gauss-Chebyshev quadrature scheme. The phenomenon of dislocation core spreading is expected to have a dramatic effect on the strength of crystalline films deposited on amorphous substrates.  相似文献

We propose a continuum model for the evolution of the total dislocation densities in fcc crystals, in the framework of rate-independent plasticity. The basic physical features which are taken into account are: (i) the role of dislocations in hardening; (ii) the relations between the slip velocity and dislocation mobility; (iii) the energetics of self and mutual interactions between dislocations; (iv) nonlocal effects in the interaction between dislocations. A set of reaction–diffusion equations is obtained, with mobilities depending on the slip velocities, which is able to describe the formation of dislocation walls and cells. To this effect, the results of numerical simulations in two special cases are presented. Mathematics Subject Classifications (2000) 74C15, 74C20.  相似文献

We derive a Green's function formulation for the climb of curved dislocations and multiple dislocations in three-dimensions. In this new dislocation climb formulation, the dislocation climb velocity is determined from the Peach–Koehler force on dislocations through vacancy diffusion in a non-local manner. The long-range contribution to the dislocation climb velocity is associated with vacancy diffusion rather than from the climb component of the well-known, long-range elastic effects captured in the Peach–Koehler force. Both long-range effects are important in determining the climb velocity of dislocations. Analytical and numerical examples show that the widely used local climb formula, based on straight infinite dislocations, is not generally applicable, except for a small set of special cases. We also present a numerical discretization method of this Green's function formulation appropriate for implementation in discrete dislocation dynamics (DDD) simulations. In DDD implementations, the long-range Peach–Koehler force is calculated as is commonly done, then a linear system is solved for the climb velocity using these forces. This is also done within the same order of computational cost as existing discrete dislocation dynamics methods.  相似文献

We examine the plane strain deformations of a bimaterial system consisting of a line edge dislocation interacting with a flat interface between two dissimilar isotropic half-planes in which the additional effects of interface elasticity are incorporated into the model of deformation. The entire system is assumed to be free of any external loading. Despite the fact that it is generally accepted that the separate interface modulus describing interface elasticity is permitted to take negative values, we show that simple closed-form solutions for the dislocation-induced stress field and the image force acting on the dislocation are available only when the interface modulus is assumed to be positive; the corresponding system admits no valid solutions when the interface modulus is negative. We present several numerical examples to illustrate our solutions. Additionally, we show that the influence of interface elasticity on the dislocation-induced interfacial stress field decays with increasing hardness of the adjoining half-plane (free of the dislocation). Moreover, we find that for a given (positive) in-plane interface modulus, the corresponding interface effects on the image force (acting on the dislocation) can reach maximum or minimum values when the Burgers vector of the dislocation is either parallel or perpendicular to the interface.  相似文献

We employ a kinetic Monte Carlo algorithm to simulate the motion of -oriented screw dislocation on a -slip plane in body centered cubic Ta and Ta-based alloys. The dislocation moves by the kink model: double kink nucleation, kink migration and kink-kink annihilation. Rates of these unit processes are parameterized based upon existing first principles data. Both short-range (solute-dislocation core) and long-range (elastic misfit) interactions between the dislocation and solute are considered in the simulations. Simulations are performed to determine dislocation velocity as a function of stress, temperature, solute concentration, solute misfit and solute-core interaction strength. The dislocation velocity is shown to be controlled by the rate of nucleation of double kinks and the dependence of the double kink nucleation rate on stress and temperature are consistent with existing analytical predictions. In alloys, dislocation velocity depends on both the short- and long-range solute dislocation interactions as well as on the solute concentration. The short-range solute-core interactions are shown to dominate the effects of alloying on dislocation mobility. The present simulation method provides the critical link between atomistic calculations of fundamental dislocation and solute properties and large scale dislocation dynamics that typically employ empirical equations of motion.  相似文献

We consider a classical contact mechanics problem, namely, the indentation of a ductile half-plane by a rigid flat punch (in plane strain), and revisit it using the dislocation mechanics approach. The dislocation nucleation and dislocation interaction beneath the indenter are examined. The threshold load for dislocation nucleation and the dislocation emission angle are obtained in analytical form. Moreover, based on the consideration of dislocation interaction, we explore the mechanism of contact load evolution (hardening). A triangular “dead zone” beneath the indenter, which could not be thus far accurately explained by traditional continuum models, is predicted in good agreement with the results of careful experiments that are reported in the literature. The proposed model is likely to be useful for the analysis of contacts at both the micro- and macro-scales.  相似文献

We derive, by virtue of the unified Stroh formalism, the extremely concise and elegant solutions for two-dimensional and (quasi-static) time-dependent Green's functions in anisotropic magnetoelectroelastic multiferroic bimaterials with a viscous interface subjected to an extended line force and an extended line dislocation located in the upper half-plane. It is found for the first time that, in the multiferroic bimaterial Green's functions, there are 25 static image singularities and 50 moving image singularities in the form of the extended line force and extended line dislocation in the upper or lower half-plane. It is further observed that, as time evolves, the moving image singularities, which originate from the locations of the static image singularities, will move further away from the viscous interface with explicit time-dependent locations. Moreover, explicit expression of the time-dependent image force on the extended line dislocation due to its interaction with the viscous interface is derived, which is also valid for mathematically degenerate materials. Several special cases are discussed in detail for the image force expression to illustrate the influence of the viscous interface on the mobility of the extended line dislocation, and various interesting features are observed. These Green's functions can not only be directly applied to the study of dislocation mobility in the novel multiferroic bimaterials, they can also be utilized as kernel functions in a boundary integral formulation to investigate more complicated boundary value problems where multiferroic materials/composites are involved.  相似文献

The Modeling of Velocity Enhancement in Polymer Flooding   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In single-phase polymer flooding experiments it has repeatedly been observed that the average velocity of the polymer molecules is higher than the average velocity of the water molecules. This effect is incorporated in many conventional Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) simulators by the introduction of a constant velocity enhancement factor. In this paper we show that, in absence of dispersion, a constant enhancement factor in the mathematical model for two-phase polymer flow (Buckley--Leverett displacement) leads to ill-posedness of the model equations. We propose a saturation dependent enhancement factor, derived from a model based on percolation concepts, for which this problem does not occur.  相似文献

This paper attempts to investigate the problem for the interaction between a uniformly subsonic moving screw dislocation and interface cracks in two dissimilar anisotropic materials. Using Riemann–Schwarz’s symmetry principle integrated with the analysis singularity of complex functions, we present the general elastic solutions of this problem and the closed form solutions for interface containing one and two cracks. The expressions of stress intensity factors at the crack tips and image force acting on moving dislocation are derived explicitly. The results show that the stress intensity factors at the crack tips decrease with increasing velocity of dislocation, and larger dislocation velocity leads to the equilibrium position of dislocation leaving from crack tips. The presented solutions contain previously known results as the special cases.  相似文献
