A stable and short pulse train of ∼100 MHz repetition frequency was obtained from an erbium doped fiber laser excited by a “continuous” semiconductor laser and by using a linear cavity defined by a Bragg grating pair. The operation frequency of the fiber laser was greater (∼5-15 times) than the cavity round-trip frequency. Emission properties obtained from the erbium doped fiber laser were correlated with those taken from the pump laser, which presented a particular optical noise (very short pulses) added to the continuous emission. From the temporal and radio-frequency analysis of both systems, we conclude that the pump emission characteristics are the responsible of the fiber laser pulsed behaviour.  相似文献

Measurements are described of the intensity and polarization of the second harmonic emission from a plasma generated by 1.054 μm, 35 ps laser pulses at oblique incidence. It is shown that the measured scaling cannot be explained by a simple power law and that at high intensities the degree of polarization of the second harmonic radiation does not depend on the polarization of the incident laser light.  相似文献

Spontaneous parametric downconversion (SPDC) is widely used to generate entangled photon pairs; however, multi-pair emissions degrade the quality of the entanglement. We numerically evaluate polarization-entangled photon pairs created by SPDC. The effects of multi-pair emission events on the visibility of two-photon interference and on the fidelity (the probability overlap for ideal and real states) are analyzed using single-photon detectors that can count the number of incoming photons and discard multiphoton events. Compared with conventional threshold single-photon detectors, photon-number resolving single-photon detectors have higher fidelity for the same or lower visibility.  相似文献

This paper develops an effective method for calculating the bremsstrahlung cross section with allowance for the polarization mechanism. We calculate the cross section of bremsstrahlung produced in the scattering of electrons and positrons by H and Kr atoms. We also demonstrate the important role of polarization bremsstrahlung in the formation of the total emission spectrum over the entire frequency range. Zh. éksp. Teor. A scheme to generate ultra-flat and stable optical frequency comb (OFC) based on multi-wavelength optical seed source and polarization-modulator-based complementary frequency shifter (PCFS) has been proposed and demonstrated. The OFC generation scheme includes two stages: 5-carrier light source is generated by utilizing a polarization modulator at the first stage, and the light source is then used as the seed light in the PCFS at the second stage. Compared with the previous flat OFC generator based on a recirculation frequency shifter, the proposed scheme can greatly reduce the recirculation times, and such a property makes the accumulated noise of the system enormously decrease. In order to achieve the frequency comb with the best flatness, the optical amplifier gain, filter stop-band attenuation and modulator drive voltage are optimized. Experiment simulations show that high-quality OFC with hundreds of frequency lines and power fluctuation within 2 dB can be achieved without direct-current bias control and wavelength-selective-switch.  相似文献

Dual-perspective high-speed imaging and acoustic detection is used to characterise cavitation activity at the tip of a commercial 20 kHz (f0) ultrasonic horn, over 2 s sonications across the range of input powers available (20 – 100%). Imaging at 1 × 105 frames per second (fps) captures cavitation-bubble cluster oscillation at the horn-tip for the duration of the sonication. Shadowgraphic imaging at 2 Mfps, from an orthogonal perspective, probes cluster collapse and shock wave generation at higher temporal resolution, facilitating direct correlation of features within the acoustic emission data generated by the bubble activity. f0/m subharmonic collapses of the primary cavitation cluster directly beneath the tip, with m increasing through integer values at increasing input powers, are studied. Shock waves generated by periodic primary cluster collapses dominate the non-linear emissions of the cavitation noise spectra. Transitional input powers for which the value of m is indistinct, are identified. Overall shock wave content within the emission signals collected during sonications at transitional input powers are reduced, relative to input powers with distinct m. The findings are relevant for the optimisation of applications such as sonochemistry, known to be mediated by bubble collapse phenomena.  相似文献

We elucidate the dependence of purity and entanglement of two-photon states generated by spontaneous parametric down-conversion on the parameters of the source, such as crystal length, pump beam divergence, frequency bandwidth, and detectors angular aperture. The location of continuous acoustic emission sources is a difficult problem of non-destructive testing. This article describes one-dimensional location of continuous acoustic emission sources by using an intelligent locator. The intelligent locator solves a location problem based on learning from examples. To verify whether continuous acoustic emission caused by leakage air flow can be located accurately by the intelligent locator, an experiment on a thin aluminum band was performed. Results show that it is possible to determine an accurate location by using a combination of a cross-correlation function with an appropriate bandpass filter. By using this combination, discrete and continuous acoustic emission sources can be located by using discrete acoustic emission sources for locator learning.  相似文献

We investigate the infrared properties of frequency selective surfaces consisting of aluminum patches on silicon substrates. Resonant behavior is found not only in the transmission and reflection, but also in the absorption and emission of these surfaces. The resonance location is a controllable function of the surface pattern. Simple model calculations reproduce well the qualitative behavior of our samples.  相似文献

We demonstrate the generation of ultraviolet 33-fs pulses with a shot-to-shot energy fluctuation of less than 3% using sum frequency mixing of visible pulses of a noncollinear optical parametric amplifier with sub-40-fs pulses of a 1-kHz Ti:sapphire-amplified system. The pulses are transform-limited (ΔνΔτ=0.36) and tunable in the range from 315 nm to 355 nm with energy above 1 μJ (2.6 μJ at 330 nm). Gravity wave spectra generated by populations of cosmic string loops are computed, showing that loop evolution and radiation properties have important effects at observable wavelengths. The spectra are compared with limits derived from various observations; bounds from millisecond pulsar timing are becoming severe for several string scenarios, but implied constraints on string parameters depend sensitively on details of the loop population and dynamics.  相似文献

We present the characterization of an apparatus generating XUV radiation by a high peak value (20–40) kA and short rise time (≈ 20 ns) current pulse in a capillary discharge channel (up to 20 cm in length) filled by argon gas. The apparatus has been developed with the purpose of production of an intensive spontaneous emission in the spectral region of (2–50) nm and study of the z-pinch conditions for obtaining the laser generation in the Nelike Ar at 46.9 nm. The current pulses are generated by the direct discharge of a 7 nF water dielectric capacitor resonantly charged up to 400 kV by a six-stages Marx generator. The XUV radiation emitted during the radial compression of the plasma column is measured using calibrated PIN diodes, filters and multilayer mirrors in order to test the z-pinch plasma collapse and to measure the conversion efficiency of the electrical energy into the XUV radiation. X-ray radiation is studied for large clusters consisting of 107–1010 atoms and irradiated by an intense laser pulse with an intensity ranged from (1014 up to 1018 W/cm2). The model is developed for such a laser plasma that includes the radiative transitions and the processes of excitation and quenching of multicharged ions of this plasma by electron impact. Due to interaction of a radiating multicharged ion with a surrounding plasma, spectral lines of emission are broaden and neighboring spectral lines are overlapped. As a result, the spectrum of radiation of multicharged ions is transformed into a continuous spectral band. The model under consideration includes important plasma processes including dielectronic recombination, spontaneous radiation, excitation, quenching and ionization of multicharged ions by electron impact. On the basis of the model developed the X-ray spectrum and spectral power are evaluated. In the range of laser intensities under consideration a laser plasma formed contains multicharged ions with charges Z = 26?36 that corresponds to the 3d-electron shell in the xenon case.  相似文献

A continuum spectrum of X-rays, originating from the interaction of a moderate intensity nanosecond Nd:Yag laser (1064 nm, 9 ns, 30 Hz, 900 mJ, 1011 W/cm2) with metal targets producing plasma, is investigated. The photon emission intensity is particularly high when the plasma expands in a low-pressure gas. The photon energy is measured through selective thin absorber films employed in front of the solid state detector. The temperature of the hot electrons generated from the plasma, responsible for the continuum spectrum emission, is calculated from the fit of the X-ray spectrum with a Maxwellian distribution, and it is about 1–2 keV.  相似文献

We demonstrate a novel high-speed polarization-sensitive optical frequency domain imaging system employing high-speed polarization modulation. Rapid and continuous polarization modulation of light prior to illumination of the sample is accomplished by shifting the frequency of one polarization eigenstate by an amount equal to one quarter of the digitization sampling frequency. This approach enables polarization-sensitive imaging with a single detection channel and overcomes artifacts that may arise from temporal variations of the birefringence in fiber-optic imaging probes and spatial variation of birefringence in the sample.  相似文献
