Idealization of a decomposition theorem   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0
In 1986, Tong [13] proved that a function f : (X,τ)→(Y,φ) is continuous if and only if it is α-continuous and A-continuous. We extend this decomposition of continuity in terms of ideals. First, we introduce the notions of regular-I-closed sets, A I-sets and A I -continuous functions in ideal topological spaces and investigate their properties. Then, we show that a function f : (X,τ,I)→(Y, φ) is continuous if and only if it is α-I-continuous and A I-continuous. This revised version was published online in June 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

Abstract

The c-realcompact spaces are fully studied and most of the important and well-known properties of realcompact spaces are extended to these spaces. For a zero-dimensional space X, the space υ0X, which is the counterpart of υX, the Hewitt realcompactification of X, is introduced and studied. It is shown that υ0X, which is the smallest c-realcompact space between X and β0X, plays the same role (with respect to Cc(X)) as υX does in the context of C(X). It is proved for strongly zero-dimensional spaces, c-realcompact spaces, realcompact spaces and N-compact spaces coincide. In particular, if X is a strongly zero-dimensional space, then υX = υ0X. It is obsesrved that a zero-dimensional space X is pseudocompact if and only if Cc(X) = C*c(X), or equivalently if and only if υ0X = β0 X. In particular, a zero-dimensional pseudocompact space is compact if and only if it is c-realcompact. It is shown that Lindelöf spaces, subspaces of the one-point compactification (resp., Lindelöffication) of a discrete space with a nonmeasurable cardinal, are c-realcompact space. If X is a pseudocompact space, it is observed that C(X) = Cc(X) if and only if βX is scattered. Finally, the simplest possible proof (with reasoning) among the known proofs, of the well-known fact that discrete spaces of cardinality less than or equal to that of the continuum are realcompact, is given.  相似文献

Homotopy classes of mappings of a space X to the circle T form an Abelian group B(X) (the Bruschlinsky group). If a: XT is a continuous mapping, then [a] denotes the homotopy class of a, and I r (a): (X × T) r → \mathbbZ \mathbb{Z} is the indicator function of the rth Cartesian power of the graph of a. Let C be an Abelian group and let f: B(X) → C be a mapping. By definition, f has order not greater than r if the correspondence I r (a) → f([a]) extends to a (partly defined) homomorphism from the Abelian group of Z-valued functions on (X × T) r to C. It is proved that the order of f equals the algebraic degree of f. (A mapping between Abelian groups has degree at most r if all of its finite differences of order r +1 vanish.) The paper deals with the approximation of bounded real functions f on a compact metric space (X, d) by so-called controllable step functions in continuation of [Ri/Ste]. These step functions are connected with controllable coverings, that are finite coverings of compact metric spaces by subsets whose sizes fulfil a uniformity condition depending on the entropy numbers εn(X) of the space X. We show that a strong form of local finiteness holds for these coverings on compact metric subspaces of IRm and Sm. This leads to a Bernstein type theorem if the space is of finite convex information. In this case the corresponding approximation numbers εn(f) have the same asymptotics its ω(f, εn(X)) for f ε C(X). Finally, the results concerning functions f ε M(X) and f ε C(X) are transferred to operators with values in M(X) and C(X), respectively.  相似文献

A continuous zero-selection f for the Vietoris hyperspace F(X) of the nonempty closed subsets of a space X is a Vietoris continuous map f:F(X)→X which assigns to every nonempty closed subset an isolated point of it. It is well known that a compact space X has a continuous zero-selection if and only if it is an ordinal space, or, equivalently, if X can be mapped onto an ordinal space by a continuous one-to-one surjection. In this paper, we prove that a compact space X has an upper semi-continuous set-valued zero-selection for its Vietoris hyperspace F(X) if and only if X can be mapped onto an ordinal space by a continuous finite-to-one surjection.  相似文献

Weak compactness of the analytic composition operator f?fφ is studied on BMOA(X), the space of X-valued analytic functions of bounded mean oscillation, and its subspace VMOA(X), where X is a complex Banach space. It is shown that the composition operator is weakly compact on BMOA(X) if X is reflexive and the corresponding composition operator is compact on the scalar-valued BMOA. A concrete example is given which shows that BMOA(X) differs from the weak vector-valued BMOA for infinite dimensional Banach spaces X.  相似文献

Homotopy classes of mappings of a compact polyhedron X to the circle T form an Abelian group B(X), which is called the Bruschlinsky group and is cananically isomorphic to H 1 (X; ℤ), Let L be an Abelian group, and let f: B(X) → L be a function. One says that the order of f does not exceed r if for each mapping a: XT the value f([a]) is ℤ-linearly expressed via the characteristic function I r (a): (X × T) r → ℤ of (Γ a ) r , where Γ a X × T is the graph of a. The (algebraic) degree of f is not greater than r if the finite differences of f of order r + 1 vanish. Conjecturally, the order of f is equal to the algebraic degree of f. The conjecture is proved in the case where dim X ≤ 2. Bibliography: 1 title.  相似文献

Let X be a locally convex Hausdorff space and let C0(S,X) be the space of all continuous functions f:SX, with compact support on the locally compact space S. In this paper we prove a Riesz representation theorem for a class of bounded operators T:C0(S,X)→X, where the representing integrals are X-valued Pettis integrals with respect to bounded signed measures on S. Under the additional assumption that X is a locally convex space, having the convex compactness property, or either, X is a locally convex space whose dual X is a barrelled space for an appropriate topology, we obtain a complete identification between all X-valued Pettis integrals on S and the bounded operators T:C0(S,X)→X they represent. Finally we give two illustrations of the representation theorem proved, in the particular case when X is the topological dual of a locally convex space.  相似文献

In this paper we investigate the topological localizations of Lie-complete rings. It has been proved that a topological localization of a Lie-complete ring is commutative modulo its topological nilradical. Based on the topological localizations we define a noncommutative affine scheme X = Spf(A) for a Lie-complete ring A. The main result of the paper asserts that the topological localization A(f) of A at f ∈ A is embedded into the ring 𝒪A(Xf) of all sections of the structure sheaf 𝒪A on the principal open set Xf as a dense subring with respect to the weak I1-adic topology, where I1 is the two-sided ideal generated by all commutators in A. The equality A(f) = 𝒪A(Xf) can only be achieved in the case of an NC-complete ring A.  相似文献

Let (X, d) be a compact metric space and let (X) denote the space of all finite signed Borel measures on X. Define I: (X) → ℝ by I(μ) = ∫ X X d(x, y)dμ(x)dμ(y), and set M(X) = sup I(μ), where μ ranges over the collection of measures in (X) of total mass 1. The space (X, d) is quasihypermetric if I(μ) ≦ 0 for all measures μ in (X) of total mass 0 and is strictly quasihypermetric if in addition the equality I(μ) = 0 holds amongst measures μ of mass 0 only for the zero measure. This paper explores the constant M(X) and other geometric aspects of X in the case when the space X is finite, focusing first on the significance of the maximal strictly quasihypermetric subspaces of a given finite quasihypermetric space and second on the class of finite metric spaces which are L 1-embeddable. While most of the results are for finite spaces, several apply also in the general compact case. The analysis builds upon earlier more general work of the authors [11] [13].   相似文献

We prove that every point-finite family of nonempty functionally open sets in a topological space X has the cardinality at most an infinite cardinal κ if and only if w(X) ≦ κ for every Valdvia compact space Y C p (X). Correspondingly a Valdivia compact space Y has the weight at most an infinite cardinal κ if and only if every point-finite family of nonempty open sets in C p (Y) has the cardinality at most κ, that is p(C p (Y)) ≦ κ. Besides, it was proved that w(Y) = p(C p (Y)) for every linearly ordered compact Y. In particular, a Valdivia compact space or linearly ordered compact space Y is metrizable if and only if p(C p (Y)) = ℵ0. This gives answer to a question of O. Okunev and V. Tkachuk.   相似文献

The present paper considers the existence of continuous roots of algebraic equations with coefficients being continuous functions defined on compact Hausdorff spaces. For a compact Hausdorff space X, C(X) denotes the Banach algebra of all continuous complex-valued functions on X with the sup norm ∥⋅. The algebra C(X) is said to be algebraically closed if each monic algebraic equation with C(X) coefficients has a root in C(X). First we study a topological characterization of a first-countable compact (connected) Hausdorff space X such that C(X) is algebraically closed. The result has been obtained by Countryman Jr, Hatori-Miura and Miura-Niijima and we provide a simple proof for metrizable spaces. Also we consider continuous approximate roots of the equation znf=0 with respect to z, where fC(X), and provide a topological characterization of compact Hausdorff space X with dimX?1 such that the above equation has an approximate root in C(X) for each fC(X), in terms of the first ?ech cohomology of X.  相似文献

The duality between martingale Hardy and BMO spaces is generalized for Banach space valued martingales. It is proved that if X is a UMD Banach space and fL p(X) for some 1 < p < ∞ then the Vilenkin-Fourier series of f converges to f almost everywhere in X norm, which is the extension of Carleson’s result. The main results proved in this paper are:

1. For any non-zero vector space V Dover a division ring D, the ring R= End(V D) is hopfian as a ring

2. Let Rbe a reduced π-regular ring &; B(R) the boolean ring of idempotents of R. If B(R) is hopfian so is R.The converse is not true even when Ris strongly regular.

3. Let Xbe a completely regular spaceC(X) (resp. C ?(X)) the ring of real valued (resp. bounded real valued) continuous functions on X. Let Rbe any one of C(X) or C ?(X). Then Ris an exchange ring if &; only if Xis zero dimensional in the sense of Katetov. for any infinite compact totally disconnected space X C(X) is an exchange ring which is not von Neumann regular.

4. Let Rbe a reduced commutative exchange ring. If Ris hopfian so is the polynomial ring R[T 1,…,T n] in ncommuting indeterminates over Rwhere nis any integer ≥ 1.

5. Let Rbe a reduced exchange ring. If Ris hopfian so is the polynomial ring R[T].  相似文献

Our main result states that the hyperspace of convex compact subsets of a compact convex subset X in a locally convex space is an absolute retract if and only if X is an absolute retract of weight ?ω1. It is also proved that the hyperspace of convex compact subsets of the Tychonov cube Iω1 is homeomorphic to Iω1. An analogous result is also proved for the cone over Iω1. Our proofs are based on analysis of maps of hyperspaces of compact convex subsets, in particular, selection theorems for such maps are proved.  相似文献

Analytic composition operators are studied on X-valued versions of BMOA, the space of analytic functions on the unit disk that have bounded mean oscillation on the unit circle, where X is a complex Banach space. It is shown that if X is reflexive and C φ is compact on BMOA, then C φ is weakly compact on the X-valued space BMOA C (X) defined in terms of Carleson measures. A related function-theoretic characterization is given of the compact composition operators on BMOA.  相似文献

This note will concern properly discontinuous actions of subgroups in real algebraic groups on contractible manifolds. Let (π,X,ρ) be such an action, where ρ:πDiff(X) is a homomorphism. We assume that ? extends to a smooth action of a real algebraic group G containing π. If such π has a nontrivial radical (i.e., unique maximal normal solvable subgroup), then we can apply the method of Seifert construction [14],[17] to yield that the quotient π\X supports the structure of an injective Seifert fibering with typical (resp. exceptional) fiber diffeomorphic to a solv (resp. infrasolv)-manifold (when π acts freely). When G is an amenable algebraic group, we can say about a uniqueness property for such actions. Namely, let (πi, Xi, ρi) be actions as above (i= 1,2). Then, given an isomorphism f of π1 onto ?2, there is a diffeomorphism h: X1X2 such that h(ρ1(r)x)=ρ2(f(r)h(x).As an application, we try to decide the structure of affine motions of some euclidean space Rn. First we verify the conjecture of [17, 4 5], i.e., a compact complete affinely flat manifold admits a maximal toral action if its fundamental group has a nontrivial center. Second, a compact complete affinity flat manifold whose fundamental group is virtually polycyclic supports the structure of an infrasolvmanifold. This structure varies depending on its solvable kernel (if it is abelian or nilpotent, it must be a euclidean space form or an infranilmanifold respectively). If a group of the affine group A(n) acts properly discontinuously and with compact quotient of Rn, then it is called an affine crystallographic group. Finally, we can say so far as to a uniqueness property that two virtually polycyclic affine crystallographic groups are conjugate inside Diff(Rn) if they are isomorphic (cf.[8]).  相似文献

It is proved that for a zero-dimensional space X, the function space C p (X, 2) has a Vietoris continuous selection for its hyperspace of at most 2-point sets if and only if X is separable. This provides the complete affirmative solution to a question posed by Tamariz-Mascarúa. It is also obtained that for a strongly zero-dimensional metrizable space E, the function space C p (X, E) is weakly orderable if and only if its hyperspace of at most 2-point sets has a Vietoris continuous selection. This provides a partial positive answer to a question posed by van Mill and Wattel.  相似文献

We show that a manifold-stratified space X is the interior of a compact manifold-stratified space with boundary if and only if X is tame-ended and a K-theoretic obstruction γ*(X) vanishes. The obstruction γ*(X) is a localization of Quinn's mapping cylinder neighborhood obstruction. The main results are Theorem 1.6 and Theorem 1.7 below. In particular, this explains when a G-manifold is the interior of a compact G-manifold with boundary. One of our methods is a new transversality theorem, Theorem 1.16.
