An approximate analytical form of the gluon distribution function from the derivative F2 proton structure function data at low-x assuming the Regge-like behavior of the gluon distribution function at this limit is presented. In this method, we calculate λ and C parameters for each low-x value at several Q2 values using the scaling violation of the F2 proton structure function. For low-x, λ is found to be independent of x within the experimental accuracy. We make use of the leading order Altarelli-Parisi (A-P)evolution equations in our analysis. To test the validity of our new determined gluon distribution functions, we compare them with the QCD parton distribution functions at low-x region.  相似文献

The energy loss effects of the incident quark, gluon, and the color octet ccˉ on J/ψ suppression in p-A collisions are studied by means of the experimental data at E866, RHIC, and LHC energy. We extracted the transport coefficient for gluon energy loss from the E866 experimental data in the middle x F region(0.20 x F 0.65) based on the Salgado-Wiedemann(SW) quenching weights and the recent EPPS16 nuclear parton distribution functions together with nCTEQ15. It was determined that the difference between the values of the transport coefficient for light quark, gluon, and heavy quark in cold nuclear matter is very small. The theoretical results modified by the parton energy loss effects are consistent with the experimental data for E866 and RHIC energy, and the gluon energy loss plays a remarkable role on J/ψ suppression in a broad variable range. Because the corrections of the nuclear parton distribution functions in the J/ψ channel are significant at LHC energy level, the nuclear modification due to the parton energy loss is minimal. It is worth noting that we use the color evaporation model(CEM) at leading order to compute the p-p baseline, and the conclusion in this paper is CEM model dependent.  相似文献

We obtain a solution of the DGLAP equation to extract the gluon distribution function from the deep inelastic structure function F2 and its derivative with respect to In Q^2 at low x in the next-to-leading order of perturbation theory. The values of the gluon distribution are found in the range 10^- 4 ≤ x ≤ 10^-2 at Q^2 = 20 GeV^2, We test its validity by comparing it with that of Glueck, Reya and Vogt. The detailed analysis is given for the HERA data.  相似文献

The averaged jet charge characterizes the electric charge of the initiating parton and provides a powerful tool to distinguish quark jets from gluon jets.We predict, for the first time, the medium modification of the averaged jet charge in the heavy-ion collisions at the LHC,where jet productions in p+p collisions are simulated by PYTHIA6,and the parton energy loss in QGP is calculated with two Monte Carlo models of jet quenching:PYQUEN and JEWEL.We found that the distribution of averaged jet charge is significantly suppressed by initial state isospin effects due to the participation of neutrons with zero electric charge during nuclear collisions. The considerable enhancement of the averaged jet charge in central Pb+Pb collisions is observed relative to peripheral collisions, since the jet quenching effect is more pronounced in central collisions. The distinct feature of the averaged jet charge between quark and gluon jets, along with the sensitivity of medium modifications on the jet charge to flavor dependence of the parton energy loss, could be very useful to discriminate the energy loss pattern between quark and gluon jets in heavy-ion collisions.  相似文献

A new geometrical scaling method with a gluon saturation rapidity limit is proposed to study the gluon saturation feature of the central rapidity region of relativistic nuclear collisions. The net-baryon number is essentially transported by valence quarks that probe the saturation regime in the target by multiple scattering. We take advantage of the gluon saturation model with geometric scaling of the rapidity limit to investigate net baryon distributions, nuclear stopping power and gluon saturation features in the SPS and RHIC energy regions. Predictions for net-baryon rapidity distributions, mean rapidity loss and gluon saturation feature in central Pb+Pb collisions at the LHC are made in this paper.  相似文献

The early parton momentum distribution is extracted by using the STAR collaboration data of ridge particles associated with a near-side jet in centred AuAu collisions at √SNN = 200 GeV. The ridge particles are identified as medium partons kicked by the jet near the surface and they carry direct information on the parton momentum distribution at the moment of jet-patton collisions. The extracted patton momentum distribution has a thermallike transverse momentum distribution but a rapidity plateau structure with a relatively fiat rapidity distribution at mid-rapidities with sharp kinematic boundaries at large rapidities that depend on the transverse momentum.  相似文献

The polarized distribution functions of mesons, including pion, kaon and eta, using the proton structure function, are calculated. We are looking for a relationship between the polarized distribution of mesons and the polarized structure of nucleons. We show that the meson polarized parton distributions leads to zero total spin for the concerned mesons, considering the orbital angular momentum of quarks and gluons inside the meson. Two separate Monte Carlo algorithms are applied to compute the polarized parton distributions of the kaon. Via the mass dependence of quark distributions, the distribution function of the eta meson is obtained. A new method by which the polarized sea quark distributions of protons are evolved separately which cannot be performed easily using the standard solution of DGLAP equations - is introduced. The mass dependence of these distributions is obtained, using the renormalization group equation which makes their evolutions more precise. Comparison between the evolved distributions and the available experimental data validates the suggested solutions for separated evolutions.  相似文献

We study vacuum of QCD in this work. The structure of non-local quark vacuum condensate, values of various local quark and gluon vacuum condensates, quark-gluon mixed vacuum condensate, quark and gluon virtuality in QCD vacuum state, quark dynamical mass and susceptibility of QCD vacuum state to external field are predicted by use of the solutions of Dyson-Schwinger equations in "rainbow" approximation with a modeling gluon propagator and three different sets of quark-quark interaction parameters. Our theoretical predictions are in good agreement with the correspondent empirical values used widely in literature, and many other theoretical calculations. The quark propagator and self-energy functions are also obtained from the numerical solutions of Dyson Schwinger equations. This work is centrally important for studying non-perturbative QCD, and has many important applications both in particle and nuclear physics.  相似文献

A new method to test the valence quark distribution of nucleons obtained from the maximum entropy method using the Gottfried sum rule by performing the DGLAP equations with GLR-MQ-ZRS corrections and the original leading-order/next-to-leading-order(LO/NLO) DGLAP equations is outlined. The test relies on knowledge of the unpolarized electron–proton structure function F_2~(ep) and the electron–neutron structure function F_2~(en) and the assumption that Bjorken scaling is satisfied. In this work, the original Gottfried summation value obtained by the integrals of the structure function at different Q~2 is in accordance with the theoretical value of 1/3 under the premise of light-quark flavor symmetry of the nucleon sea, whether it results from dynamical evolution equations or from global quantum chromodynamics fits of PDFs. Finally, we present the summation value of the LO/NLO DGLAP global fits of PDFs under the premise of light-quark flavor asymmetry of the nucleon sea. According to analysis of the original Gottfried summation value with two evolution equations at different Q~2, we find that the valence quark distributions of nucleons obtained by using the maximum entropy method are effective and reliable.  相似文献

We study medium modifications of the nucleon electromagnetic form factors in the vector meson dominance model. The in-medium vector meson masses are taken from a chiral SU(3) model. We find that the electric and magnetic form factors of the bound nucleon deviate considerably from those of the free nucleon. Our results are comparable to the results from the quark meson coupling model approach and are consistent with present experimental limits.  相似文献

Based on the generalized vector meson dominance model in QCD, we study photoproduction of vector meson T off the proton by use of the QCD inspired model in which the contributions from quark-quark, gluon-gluon, and quark-gluon interference term to observable are taken into consideration. Calculations are performed for total cross section σtot, differential cross section dσ/dt, ratio of the real part to imaginary part of forward scattering amplitude ρ, and nuclear slop parameter function β. The mediators of interactions between projectiles (the quark and antiquark pair fluctuated from the real the photon) and the proton target (three-quark system) are the tensor Glueball and Odderon instead of using the usual Pomeron exchange. The theoretical predictions for σtot (s) are consistent with the experimental data within error bars of the data. The data for dσ/dt, ρ, and β are urgently needed.  相似文献

The recent measurement of the differential γ + c-jet cross section, performed at the Tevatron collider in Run II by the D0 collaboration, is studied in a next-to-leading order(NLO) global QCD analysis to assess its impact on the proton parton distribution functions(PDFs). We show that these data lead to a significant change in the gluon and charm quark distributions. We demonstrate also that there is an inconsistency between the new high precision HERA I+II combined data and Tevatron measurement. Moreover, in this study we investigate the impact of older EMC measurements of charm structure function F_c~2 on the PDFs and compare the results with those from the analysis of Tevatron data. We show that both of them have the same impact on the PDFs, and thus can be recognized as the same evidence for the inefficiency of perturbative QCD in dealing with charm production in some kinematic regions.  相似文献

This paper presents the impact of the lepton transverse momentum p_T~l threshold on the W boson charge asymmetry predictions in perturbative QCD for the inclusive W~++X→l~±v+X production in proton-proton(pp)collisions.The predictions are obtained at various low-p_T~l thresholds p_T~l 20,25,30,and 40 GeV in a fiducial region encompassing both the central and forward detector acceptances in terms of the lepton pseudorapidity0 ≤η_l≤4.5.The predicted distributions for the lepton charge asymmetry, which is defined by η_l(A_(η_l)),at the nextto-next-to-leading order(NNLO) accuracy are compared with the CMS and LHCb data at 8 TeV center-of-mass collision energy. The 8 TeV predictions reproduce the data fairly well within the quoted uncertainties. The predictions from the CT14 parton distribution function(PDF) model are in a slightly better agreement with the data over the other PDF sets that are tested. The 13 TeV predictions using various p_T~l thresholds are reported for A_(η_l) and the charge asymmetries that are defined in terms of the differential cross sections in bins of the W boson rapidity yw(A_(y_w)) and transverse momentum p_T~W(A_(p_T~W)).The NNLO predictions for the A_(η_l),A_(y_w).and A_(p_T~W) distributions are assessed to be in close correlation with the p_T~l value. The A_(η_l) and A_(y_w) distributions are particularly shown to be more correlated at a higher p_T~l threshold. The A_(p_T~W) distributions are also reported from the merged predictions with improved accuracy by the inclusion of the next-to-next-to-next-to-leading logarithm(N'LL) corrections,i.e.,at NNLO+N~3 LL.The predicted distributions from various p_T~l thresholds represent a finer probe in terms of the capability to provide more constraints on the ratio of u and d quark distribution functions in the parton momentum fraction range 10~(-4) x1.  相似文献

In p-p collisions, the charged particles produced consist of two leading particles and those frozen out from the hot and dense matter created in the collisions. The two leading particles are in the projectile and target fragmentation regions, respectively, which, in this paper, are conventionally supposed to have Gaussian rapidity distributions. The hot and dense matter is assumed to expand according to unified hydrodynamics, a hydrodynamic model which unifies the features of the Landau and Hwa-Bjorken models, and freeze out into charged particles from a space-like hypersurface with a fixed proper time of τFO. The rapidity distribution of these charged particles can be derived analytically. The combined contribution from both leading particles and unified hydrodynamics is then compared against experimental data from a now available center-of-mass energy region from 23.6 to 7000 GeV. The model predictions are consistent with experimental measurements.  相似文献

The energy loss effect in nuclear matter is another nuclear effect apart from the nuclear effects on the parton distribution as in deep inelastic scattering process. The quark energy loss can be measured best by the nuclear dependence of the high energy nuclear Dre11-Yan process. By means of three kinds of quark energy loss parameterizations given in literature and the nuclear parton distribution extracted only with lepton-nucleus deep inelastic scattering experimental data, measured Dre11-Yan production cross sections are analyzed for 800 GeV proton incident on a variety of nuclear targets from FNAL E866. It is shown that our results with considering the energy loss effect are much different from those of the FNAL E866, who analyzes the experimental data with the nuclear parton distribution functions obtained by using the deep inelastic IA collisions and pA nuclear Drell-Yan data. Considering the existence of energy loss effect in Drell-Yan lepton pairs production, we suggest that the extraction of nuclear parton distribution functions shoul““““d not include Dre11-Yan experimental data.  相似文献

We calculate the hard photoproduction of light vector meson from the fragmentation of photon in Pb Pb col- lisions. Using the perturbative quantum chromodynamics calculation, we rigorously derive the electromagnetic fragmentation production for p, co and Ф in relativistic nucleus-nucleus collisions by the photoproduction pro- cesses. It is shown that the differential cross section of photoproduction processes of light vector meson cannot be negligible in relativistic heavy ion collisions at Large Hadron Collider energies.  相似文献

The nuclear shadowing and antishadowing effects are explained by a unitarized BFKL equation. The Q2- and x-variations of the nuclear parton distributions are detailed based on the level of the unintegrated gluon distribution. In particular, the asymptotical behavior of the unintegrated gluon distribution near the saturation limit in nuclear targets is studied. Our results in the nuclear targets are insensitive to the input distributions if the parameters are fixed by the data of a free proton.  相似文献

Significant enhancements of J/ψ production at very low transverse momenta were recently observed by the ALICE and STAR collaborations in peripheral hadronic A+A collisions. The anomalous excess points to coherent photon-nucleus interactions in violent hadronic heavy-ion collisions, which were conventionally studied only in ultra-peripheral collisions. Assuming that the coherent photoproduction is the underlying mechanism responsible for the excess observed in peripheral A+A collisions, its contribution in p+p collisions with nuclear overlap, i.e. nonsingle-diffractive collisions, is of particular interest. In this paper, we perform a calculation of exclusive J/ψ photoproduction in non-single-diffractive p+p collisions at the RHIC and LHC energies based on the pQCD motivated parametrization using the world-wide experimental data, which could be further employed to improve the precision of the phenomenological calculations for photoproduction in A+A collisions. The differential rapidity and transverse momentum distributions of J/ψ from photoproduction are presented. In comparison with the J/ψ production from hadronic interactions, we find that the contribution of photoproduction is negligible.  相似文献
