The paper deals with the problem of the stability for a model of a population with delayed dependence of the structure. We study an equilibrium age distribution. We also give conditions under which such distribution is exponentially asymptotically stable. The work continues authors’ research which begun in 2009. This paper is concerned with a class of dynamic boundary systems with boundary feedback. The well‐posedness of the considered systems is proved under some regularity conditions. Moreover, some spectral properties are derived. As an application, the well‐posedness and the asymptotic behavior of population dynamical systems with unbounded birth process ‘ ’ are solved. Such population dynamical systems were pointed out in [S. Piazzera, Math. Methods Appl. Sci., 27 (2004), 427‐439] to be a current research topic in semigroup theory and still an open problem. In this paper, we constructed the split‐step θ (SSθ)‐method for stochastic age‐dependent population equations. The main aim of this paper is to investigate the convergence of the SS θ‐method for stochastic age‐dependent population equations. It is proved that the proposed method is convergent with strong order 1/2 under given conditions. Finally, an example is simulated to verify the results obtained from the theory, and comparative analysis with Euler method is given, the results show the higher accuracy of the SS θ‐method. The model of age‐dependent population dynamics was for the first time described by McKendrick (1926). This model was based on the first‐order partial differential equation with the standard initial condition and the non‐local boundary condition in integral form. Gurtin and MacCamy in their paper (1974) analyzed a more general model, where the progress of the population depends on its number. They proved the existence of the unique solution to their model for all time. In our paper the results of Gurtin and MacCamy will be generalized on the case, when the dependence on a number of a population is delayed. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to study the global stability properties of equilibria for age‐dependent epidemiological models in presence of recurrence phenomenon. In these systems, the recurrence rate depends on asymptomatic–infection–age. The models are appropriate for human herpes virus (HSV‐1 and HSV‐2) and varicella‐zoster virus. We derived explicit formulas for the basic reproductive number, which completely characterizes the global behaviour of solutions to the models: if the basic reproductive number is less than or equal to unity, the disease will die out; if the basic reproductive number is greater than unity, the disease will be persistent. Volterra‐type Lyapunov functions are constructed to establish the global asymptotic stability of the infection‐free and endemic steady states. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The paper is devoted to the investigation of a parabolic partial differential equation with non‐local and time‐dependent boundary conditions arising from ductal carcinoma in situ model. Approximation solution of the present problem is implemented by the Ritz–Galerkin method, which is a first attempt at tackling parabolic equation with such non‐classical boundary conditions. In the process of dealing with the difficulty caused by integral term in non‐local boundary condition, we use a trick of introducing the transition function G(x,t) to convert non‐local boundary to another non‐classical boundary, which can be handled with the Ritz–Galerkin method. The fully Sinc‐Galerkin method is developed for a family of complex‐valued partial differential equations with time‐dependent boundary conditions. The Sinc‐Galerkin discrete system is formulated and represented by a Kronecker product form of those equations. The numerical solution is efficiently calculated and the method exhibits an exponential convergence rate. Several examples, some with a real‐valued solution and some with a complex‐valued solution, are used to demonstrate the performance of this method. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The structure of positive steady state solutions of a diffusive logistic population model with constant yield harvesting and negative density dependent emigration on the boundary is examined. In particular, a class of nonlinear boundary conditions that depends both on the population density and the diffusion coefficient is used to model the effects of negative density dependent emigration on the boundary. We propose a method to approximate numerically the diffusion of an age‐structured population in a spatial environment. We integrate separately the age and time variables by finite differences and we discretize the space variable by finite elements. The method is implicit in time and, inside each time step, implicit in age. A generic type age‐structured fishery population model consisting of two harvestable age classes is formulated. Optimal harvest rates are determined with uniform fishing mortality and perfectly selective fishing, respectively. Selectivity allows for differentiating the fishing mortality among different age classes. Sustainable yield–biomass functions are developed, and the maximum sustainable yield (MSY) solutions are found under both exploitation schemes. The gain of perfectly selective fishing over uniform (or biomass) fishing is examined under various assumptions, and it is proved that the benefit of selective harvesting increases when the harvestable fish population becomes more heterogeneous in terms of weights, or values. In contrast to the surplus production model, or Clark model, the analysis also demonstrates that MSY with different age classes is not purely a biological concept.  相似文献

This article describes a numerical method based on the boundary integral equation and dual reciprocity method for solving the one‐dimensional Sine‐Gordon (SG) equation. The time derivative is approximated by the time‐stepping method and a predictor–corrector scheme is employed to deal with the nonlinearity which appears in the problem. Numerical results are presented for some problems to demonstrate the usefulness and accuracy of this approach. We study a linear model of McKendrick‐von Foerster‐Keyfitz type for the temporal development of the age structure of a two‐sex human population. For the underlying system of partial integro‐differential equations, we exploit the semigroup theory to show the classical well‐posedness and asymptotic stability in a Hilbert space framework under appropriate conditions on the age‐specific mortality and fertility moduli. Finally, we propose an implicit finite difference scheme to numerically solve this problem and prove its convergence under minimal regularity assumptions. We consider nonlinear Schrödinger equation with time dependent coefficients. Fanelli [5] found a transformation between solutions of the original equation and of the usual Schrödinger equation with power nonlinearity involving time dependent coefficients in some Lorentz spaces. In this paper we extend the results in [5] in space‐time integrability properties of solutions. Particularly, we prove that the existence and uniqueness of solutions can be described exclusively in terms of Lebesgue spaces (not Lorentz spaces as in [5]) as far as the space integrability of solutions. We also discuss the equation with coefficient of an explicit homogeneous function and describe the associated Strichartz estimate and contraction mapping argument.  相似文献

We study the asymptotic behavior of solutions of dissipative wave equations with space–time‐dependent potential. When the potential is only time‐dependent, Fourier analysis is a useful tool to derive sharp decay estimates for solutions. When the potential is only space‐dependent, a powerful technique has been developed by Todorova and Yordanov to capture the exact decay of solutions. The presence of a space–time‐dependent potential, as in our case, requires modifications of this technique. A dual extremum principle for the Verhulst-Pearl population equation is constructed using a complementary variational technique. The pole condition approach for deriving transparent boundary conditions is extended to the time‐dependent, two‐dimensional case. Nonphysical modes of the solution are identified by the position of poles of the solution's spatial Laplace transform in the complex plane. By requiring the Laplace transform to be analytic on some problem‐dependent complex half‐plane, these modes can be suppressed. The resulting algorithm computes a finite number of coefficients of a series expansion of the Laplace transform, thereby providing an approximation to the exact boundary condition. The resulting error decays super‐algebraically with the number of coefficients, so relatively few additional degrees of freedom are sufficient to reduce the error to the level of the discretization error in the interior of the computational domain. The approach shows good results for the Schrödinger and the drift‐diffusion equation but, in contrast to the one‐dimensional case, exhibits instabilities for the wave and Klein–Gordon equation. Numerical examples are shown that demonstrate the good performance in the former and the instabilities in the latter case. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
