The space–time evolution of the cnoidal‐soliton solution, characteristics of the quasi‐soliton solution of Korteweg‐de‐Vries (KdV) equation, and the interaction phenomena of ion‐acoustic waves (IAWs) are investigated in a plasma system consisting of positive and negative ions with superthermal electrons. To do this, and (Ar+, F?) plasmas are considered and two‐sided KdV equations (KdVEs) are derived applying the extended Poincaré‐Lighthill‐Kuo (ePLK) method. The effects on wave structures, potential profiles, and propagation characteristics with plasma parameters of the cnoidal‐wave, quasi‐soliton solution, and head‐on collision phenomena of IAWs are presented graphically. It was found that the superthermality parameter and the mass ratio of ions play a significant role in the head‐on collision between soliton and standing cnoidal wave and reveal that the collision is elastic and both waves change their phase shifts due to collision. Moreover, the superthermality parameters are also responsible for the production of compressive and rarefactive phase shifts in overtaking collision processes between right travelling classical soliton (CS) and cnoidal wave (CW) and reduced the amplitudes of IAWs. It was also found that a new wave is created with a high amplitude in the interacting region during collision depending on the plasma parameters.  相似文献

A set of nonlinear equations which can self‐consistently describe the behavior of high frequency Electromagnetic (EM) waves in un‐magnetized, ultra‐relativistic electron‐positron (e‐p) plasmas is obtained on the basis of Vlasov‐Maxwell equations. Nonlinear wave‐wave, wave‐particle interactions lead to the coupling of high frequency EM waves with low frequency density perturbations which result from EM waves radiation pressure. The same as that in conventional electron‐ion (e‐i) plasmas, strong EM waves in e‐p plasmas will give rise to density depletion in which itself are trapped. But on the contrary to that in e‐i plasmas, there no longer exists electrostatic acoustic–like wave in e‐p plasmas due to the absence of mass difference. For linear polarized EM waves, a stationary EM soliton with a spiky structure will be formed. The possible relation of the localized field to pulsar radio pulse is discussed (© 2011 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

Both linear and nonlinear propagation of electrostatic solitary waves (ESWs) in magnetized electron-positron-ion (e-p-i) plasmas are analyzed. The electrons and positrons are assumed to be dynamic, whereas positively charged ions are considered stationary. Using the reductive perturbation method, a Zakharov-Kuznetsov (ZK) equation is derived and exact soliton solutions are presented. It is found that both compressive and rarefactive ESWs can propagate. The conditions of transitions from compressive to rarefactive ESWs are specified. The nature of these electrostatic solitary waves structures which depends on the magnetic field, the obliqueness, the ion-to-electron number density ratio, and the positron-to-electron temperature ratio, are discussed.  相似文献

We have studied the stability of the electrostatic ion cyclotron wave in a plasma consisting of isotropic hydrogen ions (H+) and temperature-anisotropic positively (O+) and negatively (O) charged oxygen ions, with the electrons drifting parallel to the magnetic field. Analytical expressions have been derived for the frequency and growth/damping rate of ion cyclotron waves around the first harmonic of both hydrogen and oxygen ion gyrofrequencies. We find that the frequencies and growth/damping rates are dependent on the densities and temperatures of all species of ions. A detailed numerical study, for parameters relevant to comet Halley, shows that the growth rate is dependent on the magnitude of the frequency. The ion cyclotron waves are driven by the electron drift parallel to the magnetic field; the temperature anisotropy of the oxygen ions only slightly enhance the growth rates for small values of temperature anisotropies. A simple explanation, in terms of wave exponentiation times, is offered for the absence of electrostatic ion cyclotron waves in the multi-ion plasma of comet Halley.  相似文献

The oblique propagation of the quantum electrostatic solitary waves in magnetized relativistic quantum plasma is investigated using the quantum hydrodynamic equations. The plasma consists of dynamic relativistic degenerate electrons and positrons and a weakly relativistic ion beam. The Zakharov‐Kuznetsov equation is derived using the standard reductive perturbation technique that admits an obliquely propagating soliton solution. It is found that two types of quantum acoustic modes, that is, a slow acoustic mode and fast acoustic mode, could be propagated in our plasma model. The parameter that determines the nature of soliton, that is, compressive or rarefactive soliton, for slow mode is investigated. Our numerical results show that for the slow mode, the determining parameter is ion beam velocity in the case of relativistic degenerate electrons. We also have examined the effects of plasma parameters (like the beam velocity, the density ratio of positron to electron, the relativistic factor, and the propagation angle) on the characteristics of solitary waves.  相似文献

The non‐linear propagation of ion acoustic (IA) waves, which is governed by the non‐linear Schrödinger equation, in multi‐pair plasmas (MPPs) containing adiabatic positive and negative ion fluids as well as non‐extensive (q‐distributed) electrons and positrons is theoretically investigated. It is observed that the MPP under consideration supports two types of modes, namely fast and slow IA modes, and the modulationally stable and unstable parametric regimes for the fast and slow IA modes are determined by the sign of the ratio of the dispersive coefficient to the non‐linear one. It is also found that the modulationally unstable regime generates highly energetic IA rogue waves (IARWs), and the amplitude as well as the width of the IARWs decreases with increase in the value of q (for both q > 0 and q < 0 limits). These new striking features of the IARWs are found to be applicable in the space (i.e., D‐region [], and F‐region [H+, H?] of the Earth's ionosphere) and laboratory MPPs (i.e., fullerene [C+, C?]).  相似文献

For two-dimensional unmagnetized dusty plasmas with many different dust grain species, a Kadomtsev--Petviashvili (KP) equation, a modified KP (mKP) equation and a coupled KP(cKP) equation for small, but finite amplitude dust-acoustic solitary waves are obtained for different physical conditions respectively. The influence of an arbitrary dust size distribution described by a polynomial expressed function on the properties of dust-acoustic solitary waves is investigated numerically. How dust size distribution affects the sign and the magnitude of nonlinear coefficient A(D) of KP (mKP) equation is also discussed in detail. It is noted that whether a compressive or a rarefactive solitary wave exists depends on the dust size distribution in some dusty plasmas.  相似文献

A theoretical investigation has been made for studying the propagation of ion-acoustic waves (IAWs) in a weakly inhomogeneous, collisionless, unmagnetized, three-component plasmas, whose constituents are inertial ions, nonthermal electrons, and Boltzmannian positrons. Employing reductive perturbation method (RPM), the variable coefficients Korteweg-de Varies equation (KdV) is derived. At the critical ion density, the KdV equation is not suitable for describing the system. Thus, a new set of stretched coordinates is considered to derive the modified variable coefficients KdV equation. Above (below) this critical point the system supports compressive (rarefactive) solitons. The effect of plasma parameters on the soliton profile has been considered. It has been shown that the width and the amplitude of the soliton affected by wave propagation speed, ratio of positron-to-electron density, and nonthermal parameter.  相似文献

Following the idea of three‐wave resonant interactions of lower hybrid waves, it is shown that quantum‐modified lower hybrid (QLH) wave in electron–positron–ion plasma with spatial dispersion can decay into another QLH wave (where electron and positrons are activated, whereas ions remain in the background) and another ultra‐low frequency quantum‐modified ultra‐low frequency Lower Hybrid (QULH) (where ions are mobile). Quantum effects like Bohm potential and Fermi pressure on the lower hybrid wave significantly reshaped the dispersion properties of these waves. Later, a set of non‐linear Zakharov equations were derived to consider the formation of QLH wave solitons, with the non‐linear contribution from the QLH waves. Furthermore, modulational instability of the lower hybrid wave solitons is investigated, and consequently, its growth rates are examined for different limiting cases. As the growth rate associated with the three‐wave resonant interaction is generally smaller than the growth associated with the modulational instability, only the latter have been investigated. Soliton solutions from the set of coupled Zakharov and NLS equations in the quasi‐stationary regime have been studied. Ordinary solitons are an attribute of non‐linearity, whereas a cusp soliton solution featured by nonlocal nonlinearity has also been studied. Such an approach to lower hybrid waves and cusp solitons study in Fermi gas comprising electron positron and ions is new and important. The general results obtained in this quantum plasma theory will have widespread applicability, particularly for processes in high‐energy plasma–laser interactions set for laboratory astrophysics and solid‐state plasmas.  相似文献

Low-frequency fast and slow magnetosonic waves propagating in electron ion plasmas with damping effects through ions and neutral atoms collisions are investigated. Linear wave analysis is performed to obtain dispersion relation. The reductive perturbation method is applied and it is shown that fast and slow modes of nonlinear magnetosonic wave are governed by damped Korteweg-de Vries (DKdV) equation in the presence of ion neutral collisions in plasmas. The analytical solution of DKdV soliton is presented under the assumption of weak collisional effects and numerical solutions of DKdV equation are also obtained using two-level finite difference scheme with the help of Runge–Kutta method at different plasma parameters. The damping of nonlinear fast and slow magnetosonic wave structures at different times are discussed in the context of space plasma situations where ions and neutral atoms collisions exist.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Nonlinear propagation of dust-ion-acoustic shock waves in an unmagnetized, collisionless four-component quantum plasma containing electrons, positrons, ions and negatively charged dust grains affected by dust charge variations and viscosity of ions is studied using quantum hydrodynamic model. Considering dust charge variation give rise to calculating of charging currents of the plasma particles. These currents have been calculated with orbit limited motion theory and using Fermi-distribution functions or Boltzmann–Maxwell distribution depending on quantum or classical particles, respectively. The basic characteristics of quantum dust-ion-acoustic shock waves are investigated by deriving Korteweg–de Vries–Burgers equation under the reductive perturbation method. Depending on the relative values of the dispersive and dissipative coefficients, oscillatory and monotonic shock waves can propagate in the plasma model. The effect of chemical potential and density of dust particles on the shock wave’s height and thickness is investigated. In addition, the critical value of H (Hc) is calculated and it is shown that for R?>?0 compressive shock waves and for R?<?0 rarefactive ones can exist. The present study is applicable to researchers on quantum nonlinear structures in dense astrophysical objects and ultra-small micro- and nano-electronic devices.  相似文献

Study of dust ion acoustic waves in a magnetized dusty plasmas composed of negatively or positively charged static dust, positive and negative ions, as well as kappa distribution electrons is presented. The Zakharov–Kuznetsov (ZK) equation is derived via reductive perturbation technique. The solitary wave solution of ZK equation is given and the multi-dimensional instability of these solitary waves is investigated via small k perturbation method. The instability criterion and growth rate relying on obliqueness, superthermality, positive ion thermal pressure, relative ion number density, magnetic field strength, and direction cosines are discussed for five cases. The results are beneficial to understand different nonlinear characteristics of unstable electrostatic disturbances in laboratory and space plasmas.  相似文献

The global nonlinear gravito‐electrostatic eigen‐fluctuation behaviors in large‐scale non‐uniform complex astroclouds in quasi‐neutral hydrodynamic equilibrium are methodologically analyzed. Its composition includes warm lighter electrons, ions; and massive bi‐polar multi‐dust grains (inertial) with partial ionization sourced, via plasma‐contact electrification, in the cloud plasma background. The multi‐fluidic viscous drag effects are conjointly encompassed. The naturalistic equilibrium inhomogeneities, gradient forces and nonlinear convective dynamics are considered without any recourse to the Jeans swindle against the traditional perspective. An inho‐mogeneous multiscale analytical method is meticulously applied to derive a new conjugated non‐integrable coupled (via zeroth‐order factors) pair of variable‐coefficient inhomogeneous Korteweg de‐Vries Burger (i ‐KdVB) equations containing unique form of non‐uniform linear self‐consistent gradient‐driven sinks. A numerical illustrative scheme is procedurally constructed to examine the canonical fluctuations. It is seen that the eigenspectrum coevolves as electrostatic rarefactive damped oscillatory shock‐like structures and self‐gravitational compressive damped oscillatory shock‐like patterns . The irregular damping nature is attributable to the i ‐KdVB sinks. The aperiodicity in the hybrid rapid small downstream wavetrains is speculated to be deep‐rooted in the quasi‐linear gravito‐electrostatic interplay. The phase‐evolutionary dynamics grow as atypical non‐chaotic fixed‐point attractors . We, finally, indicate tentative astronomical applications relevant in large‐scale cosmic structure formation aboard facts and faults. (© 2016 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

The propagation of linear and nonlinear dust ion acoustic waves (DIAWs) are studied in a collisionless magnetized plasma which consists of warm ions having anisotropic thermal pressure, nonthermal (energetic) electrons and static dust particles of positive and negative charge polarity. The anisotropic ion pressure is defined using double adiabatic Chew‐Golberger‐Low (CGL) theory. In the linear regime, the propagation properties of the two possible modes are investigated via ion pressure anisotropy, dust particle polarity and nonthermality of electrons. Using reductive method Zakharov‐Kuznetsov (ZK) equation is derived for the propagation of two dimensional electrostatic dust ion acoustic solitary waves in dusty plasmas. It is found that both compressive and rarefactive solitons are formed in presence of nonthermal electrons using Cairn's distribution [R.A. Cairns, A.A. Mamun, R. Bingham, R.O. Dendy, R. Bostrom, C.M.C. Nairn and P.K. Shukla, Geophys.Res. Lett. 22 , 2709 (1995)] in the system. The ion pressure anisotropy, nonthermality of electrons and charge polarity of the dust particles have significant effects on the amplitude and width of the dust ion acoustic solitary waves in such anisotropic nonthermal magnetized dusty plasmas. The numerical results are also presented for illustration. Our finding is applicable to space dusty plasma regimes having anisotropic ion pressure and nonthermal electrons. Two‐dimensional (2D) magnetosonic wave propagation in magnetized quantum dissipative plasmas is studied. The plasma system is comprised of inertial ions, inertia‐less electrons, and positrons. The multi‐fluid quantum hydrodynamic model is used, in which quantum statistical and quantum tunnelling effects of electrons and positrons are included. Reductive perturbation analysis is performed to derive the Zabolotskaya–Khokhlov equation for the 2D propagation of a magnetosonic shock wave in a magnetized qauntum plasma. The effects of varying the different plasma parameters such as positron density and magnetic field intensity on the propagation characteristics of magnetosonic shock waves are discussed with non‐relativistic degenerate plasma parameters in astrophysical plasma situations.  相似文献

In this paper, the effect of generalized (r, q) distributed electrons on the linear and nonlinear coupling of drift and ion acoustic waves in a nonuniform plasma containing Hydrogen and Oxygen ions is investigated. In the linear regime, it is observed that increasing the percentage of flat-topped (i.e. r > 0) electrons enhances the frequency of the coupled drift-ion acoustic waves, whereas the increasing values of the spectral index q mitigates it. In the nonlinear regime, one- and two-dimensional Korteweg de Vries-like and Kadomtsev-Petviashvili-like equations are derived and their solutions are plotted for different ratios of ion number densities and for different values of double spectral indices r and q of the generalized distribution of electrons. It is found that only rarefactive structures exist for two-dimensional solitons, however, both rarefactive and compressive structures are observed for the one-dimensional case. The limiting cases of kappa and Maxwellian distributions are also discussed and their comparison with the generalized (r, q) distribution is thoroughly investigated. Spatial scales for the formation of rarefactive and compressive solitary structures are also discussed with reference to the changing electron distribution functions. The possible applications of the present study are also spelled out with special reference to space plasmas.  相似文献

Dust-ion acoustic waves are investigated in this model of plasma consisting of negatively charged dusts, cold ions and inertia less quantum effected electrons with the help of a typical energy integral. In this case,a new technique is applied formulating a differential equation to establish the energy integral in case of multi-component plasmas which is not possible in general.Dust-ion acoustic(DIA) compressive and rarefactive, supersonic and subsonic solitons of various amplitudes are established. The consideration of smaller order nonlinearity in support of the newly established quantum plasma model is observed to generate small amplitude solitons at the decrease of Mach number. The growths of soliton amplitudes and potential depths are found more sensitive to the density of quantum electrons. The small density ratio r(=1-f) with a little quantized electrons supplemented by the dust charges Z_d and the in-deterministic new quantum parameter C_2 are found responsible to finally support the generation of small amplitude solitons admissible for the model.  相似文献

The higher-order, low-amplitude inertial Alfvén wave (IAW) dressed soliton and chaos are investigated in a magnetized plasma. In the linear limit, the dispersion relation for propagation of IAWs in plasmas is also obtained in the presence of electron thermal effects and illustrated numerically. It is found that the electron inertial length plays an important role for wave dispersion effects and its phase speed is increased on including the electron temperature in the model. The reductive perturbation method is employed to obtain the first-order IAW Korteweg–de Vries (KdV) soliton and second-order dressed soliton solutions analytically, which gives electron density dip (or rarefactive) structure and moves with super Alfvénic speed in plasmas. The numerical illustrations of the KdV and dressed IAW solitons are also presented by using the laboratory and space plasma parameters given in the literature. Furthermore, a numerical study of quasi-periodicity and chaotic behaviour of IAWs in the presence of external periodic force is also discussed in detail. The effects of plasma beta (which depends on plasma density, electron temperature, and magnetic field intensity) and obliqueness of the wave propagation on the formation of nonlinear Alfvénic wave structures have also been presented.  相似文献

An investigation of the linear and non‐linear properties of low‐frequency electrostatic (dust acoustic) waves in a collisional dusty plasma with negative dust grains, Maxwellian electrons, and κ ‐distributed ions is carried out. Low dust–neutral collisions accounting for dissipation (wave damping effect) is considered. The linear properties of dust acoustic excitations are discussed for varying values of relevant plasma parameters. It is shown that large wavelengths (beyond a critical value) are overdamped. In the limit of low dust–neutral collision rate, we have derived a damped Korteweg de Vries (KdV) equation by using the reductive perturbation technique. Supplemented by vanishing boundary conditions, the time‐varying solution of damped KdV equation leads to a weakly dissipative negative potential soliton. The soliton evolution with the damping parameter and other physical plasma parameters (superthermality, dust concentration, ion temperature) is delineated.  相似文献

An investigation has been made of ion-acoustic solitary waves in an unmagnetized nonthermal plasma whose constituents are an inertial ion fluid and nonthermally distributed electrons. The properties of stationary solitary structures are briefly studied by the pseudo-potential approach, which is valid for arbitrary amplitude waves, and by the reductive perturbation method which is valid for small but finite amplitude limit. The time evolution of both compressive and rarefactive solitary waves, which are found to coexist in this nonthermal plasma model, is also examined by solving numerically the full set of fluid equations. The temporal behaviour of positive (compressive) solitary waves is found to be typical, i.e., the positive initial disturbance breaks up into a series of solitary waves with the largest in front. However, the behaviour of negative (rarefactive) solitary waves is quite different. These waves appear to be unstable and produce positive solitary waves at a later time. The relevancy of this investigation to observations in the magnetosphere of density depressions is briefly pointed out. Received 12 October 1999  相似文献
