Damping in viscoelastic materials can be described in several ways. In FE codes for transient calculations with direct integration usually Rayleigh‐damping is provided. However, it is known that this model is not qualified to represent the damping properties of viscoelastic material over a broad range of time or frequency. Another approach uses fractional time derivatives of stresses and strains in the constitutive equations. This model requires few parameters, provides good curve fitting properties and is physically proved. In this paper a parameter identification for the fractional 3‐parameter model will be carried out and its implementation into an FE code will be demonstrated.  相似文献

Given the m lowest eigenvalues, we seek to recover an approximation to the density function ρ in the weighted Helmholtz equation -Δ=λρu on a rectangle with Dirchlet boundary conditions. The density ρ is assumed to be symmetric with respect to the midlines of the rectangle. Projection of the boundary value problem and the unknown density function onto appropriate vector spaces leads to a matrix inverse problem. Solutions of the matrix inverse problem exist provided that the reciprocals of the prescribed eigenvalues are close to the reciprocals of the simple eigenvalues of the base problem with ρ = 1. The matrix inverse problem is solved by a fixed—point iterative method and a density function ρ* is constructed which has the same m lowest eigenvalues as the unknown ρ. The algorithm can be modified when multiple base eigenvalues arise, although the success of the modification depends on the symmetry properties of the base eigenfunctions.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the Sturm-Liouville problem with one classical and another nonlocal boundary condition. We investigate general properties of the characteristic function and spectrum for such a problem in the complex case. In the second part, we investigate the case of real eigenvalues, analyze the dependence of the spectrum on parameters of the boundary condition, and describe the qualitative behavior of all eigenvalues subject to of the nonlocal boundary condition. In structural dynamics, energy dissipative mechanisms with nonviscous damping are characterized by their dependence on the time-history of the response velocity, mathematically represented by convolution integrals involving hereditary functions. Combination of damping parameters in the dissipative model can lead the system to be overdamped in some (or all) modes. In the domain of the damping parameters, the thresholds between induced oscillatory and non-oscillatory motion are named critical damping surfaces (or critical manifolds, since several parameters can be involved). In this paper the theoretical foundations to determine critical damping surfaces in nonviscously damped systems are established. In addition, a numerical method to obtain critical curves is developed. The approach is based on the transformation of the algebraic equations, which define implicitly the critical curves, into a system of differential equations. The derivations are validated with three numerical methods covering single and multiple degree of freedom systems.  相似文献

In this paper, the eigenvalue problem of a class of linear partial difference equations is studied. The results concern the existence of eigenvalues, their character (real, positive), as well as the behavior of its eigenfunctions (positivity, oscillation). Moreover a theorem is given concerning the existence of a unique solution of an associated non-homogeneous partial difference equation. The results generalize previously known results for ordinary linear difference equations. The method used is a functional-analytic one, which transforms the eigenvalue problem for the difference equation into the equivalent problem of the eigenvalues of an operator defined on an abstract separable Hilbert space.  相似文献

Recently the authors proposed a simultaneous iteration algorithm for the computation of the partial derivatives of repeated eigenvalues and the corresponding eigenvectors of matrices depending on several real variables. This paper analyses the properties of that algorithm and extends it in several ways. The previous requirement that the repeated eigenvalue be dominant is relaxed, and the new generalized algorithm given here allows the simultaneous treatment of simple and repeated eigenvalues. This paper concerns the asymptotics of the linear wave equation with frictional damping only on Wentzell boundary in the square. After reformulating the model into an abstract Cauchy problem, we show that the spectrum for the corresponding operator matrix has no purely imaginary values. Moreover, by analyzing a family of eigenvalues for the operator matrix, we prove that there exists a solution of the system, whose energy decay rate can be arbitrarily slow.  相似文献

In this paper, peristaltic motion of micropolar fluid in a circular cylindrical flexible tube with viscoelastic or elastic wall properties has been considered. A finite difference scheme is developed to solve the governing equations of motion resulting from a perturbation technique for small values of amplitude ratio. The time mean axial velocity profiles are presented for the case of free pumping and analysed to observe the influence of wall properties for various values of micropolar fluid parameters. In the case of viscoelastic wall, the effect of viscous damping on mean flow reversal at the boundary is seen.  相似文献

The dependence of eigenvalues of Dirac system with general boundary conditions is studied. It is shown that the eigenvalues of Dirac operators depend not only continuously but also smoothly on the coefficients, the boundary conditions, and the endpoints of the problem. Furthermore, the differential expressions of the eigenvalues as regards these parameters are given. The results obtained in this paper would provide theoretical support for the numerical calculations of eigenvalues of the corresponding problems.  相似文献

The electromagnetic interior transmission problem is a boundary value problem, which is neither elliptic nor self-adjoint. The associated transmission eigenvalue problem has important applications in the inverse electromagnetic scattering theory for inhomogeneous media. In this paper, we show that, in general, there do not exist purely imaginary electromagnetic transmission eigenvalues. For constant index of refraction, we prove that it is uniquely determined by the smallest (real) transmission eigenvalue. Finally, we show that complex transmission eigenvalues must lie in a certain region in the complex plane. The result is verified by examples. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this paper we investigate the properties of eigenvalues of some boundary-value problems generated by second-order Sturm-Liouville equation with distributional potentials and suitable boundary conditions. Moreover, we share a necessary condition for the problem to have an infinitely many eigenvalues. Our purpose is to compare analytically these two approaches to the same physical system. Properties of symplectic Runge-Kutta (RK) methods and symplectic partitioned Runge-Kutta (PRK) methods with real eigenvalues are discussed in this paper. It is shown that an s stage such method can‘t reach order more than s 1. Particularly, we prove that no symplectic RK method with real eigenvalues exists in stage s of order s 1 when s is even. But an example constructed by using the W-transformation shows that PRK method of this type does not necessarily meet this order barrier. Another useful way other than W-transformation to construct symplectic PRK method with real eigenvalues is then presented. Finally, a class of efficient symplectic methods is recommended.  相似文献

In this paper we consider a transmission problem with a boundary damping condition of memory type, that is, the wave propagation over bodies consisting of two physically different types of materials. One component is clamped, while the other is in a viscoelastic fluid producing a dissipative mechanism on the boundary. We will study the global existence of solutions for the transmission problem, and moreover we show that if the relaxation function decays exponentially or polynomially, then the solutions for the problem have the same decay rates.  相似文献

In this paper,we describe how to construct a real anti-symmetric(2p-1)-band matrix with prescribed eigenvalues in its ρ leading principal submatrices.This is done in two steps.First,an anti-symmetric matrix B is constructed with the specified spectral data but not necessary a band matrix.Then B is transformed by Householder transformations to a (2ρ-1)-band matrix with the prescribed eigenvalues.An algorithm is presented.Numerical results are presented to demonstrate that the proposed method is effective.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce a q‐analog of 1‐dimensional Dirac equation. We investigate the existence and uniqueness of the solution of this equation. Later, we discuss some spectral properties of the problem, such as formally self‐adjointness, the case that the eigenvalues are real, orthogonality of eigenfunctions, Green function, existence of a countable sequence of eigenvalues, and eigenfunctions forming an orthonormal basis of .
