A ring R is called left P-coherent in case each principal left ideal of R is finitely presented. A left R-module M (resp. right R-module N) is called D-injective (resp. D-flat) if Ext1(G, M) = 0 (resp. Tor1(N, G) = 0) for every divisible left R-module G. It is shown that every left R-module over a left P-coherent ring R has a divisible cover; a left R-module M is D-injective if and only if M is the kernel of a divisible precover A → B with A injective; a finitely presented right R-module L over a left P-coherent ring R is D-flat if and only if L is the cokernel of a torsionfree preenvelope K → F with F flat. We also study the divisible and torsionfree dimensions of modules and rings. As applications, some new characterizations of von Neumann regular rings and PP rings are given.  相似文献

Given a positive integer n, a left R-module M is called n-coherent (resp. n-semihereditary) if every n-generated submodule of M is finitely presented (resp. projective). We investigate the properties of n-coherent modules and n-semihereditary modules. Various results are developed, many extending known results.  相似文献

A ring is called right P-coherent if every principal right ideal is finitely presented. Let M R be a right R-module. We study the P-coherence of the endomorphism ring S of M R . It is shown that S is a right P-coherent ring if and only if every endomorphism of M R has a pseudokernel in add M R ; S is a left P-coherent ring if and only if every endomorphism of M R has a pseudocokernel in add M R . Some applications are given.  相似文献

We introduce and study the notion of wd-Rickart modules (i.e. modules M such that for every nonzero endomorphism ? of M, the image of ? contains a nonzero direct summand of M). We show that the class of rings R for which every right R-module is wd-Rickart is exactly that of right semi-artinian right V-rings. We prove that a module M is dual Baer if and only if M is wd-Rickart and M has the strong summand sum property. Several structure results for some classes of wd-Rickart modules and dual Baer modules are provided. Some relevant counterexamples are indicated.  相似文献

Let U be a flat right R-module and N an infinite cardinal number.A left R-module M is said to be (N,U)-coherent if every finitely generated submodule of every finitely generated M-projective module in σ[M] is (N,U)-finitely presented in σ[M].It is proved under some additional conditions that a left R-module M is (N,U)-coherent if and only if Л^Ni∈I U is M-flat as a right R-module if and only if the (N,U)-coherent dimension of M is equal to zero.We also give some characterizations of left (N,U)-coherent dimension of rings and show that the left N-coherent dimension of a ring R is the supremum of (N,U)-coherent dimensions of R for all flat right R-modules U.  相似文献

Let R be an arbitrary ring with identity and M a right R-module with S = EndR(M). Let F be a fully invariant submodule of M and I?1(F) denotes the set {mM:Im?F} for any subset I of S. The module M is called F-Baer if I?1(F) is a direct summand of M for every left ideal I of S. This work is devoted to the investigation of properties of F-Baer modules. We use F-Baer modules to decompose a module into two parts consists of a Baer module and a module determined by fully invariant submodule F, namely, for a module M, we show that M is F-Baer if and only if M = FN where N is a Baer module. By using F-Baer modules, we obtain some new results for Baer rings.  相似文献

It is well known that the Rickart property of rings is not a left-right symmetric property. We extend the notion of the left Rickart property of rings to a general module theoretic setting and define 𝔏-Rickart modules. We study this notion for a right R-module M R where R is any ring and obtain its basic properties. While it is known that the endomorphism ring of a Rickart module is a right Rickart ring, we show that the endomorphism ring of an 𝔏-Rickart module is not a left Rickart ring in general. If M R is a finitely generated 𝔏-Rickart module, we prove that End R (M) is a left Rickart ring. We prove that an 𝔏-Rickart module with no set of infinitely many nonzero orthogonal idempotents in its endomorphism ring is a Baer module. 𝔏-Rickart modules are shown to satisfy a certain kind of nonsingularity which we term “endo-nonsingularity.” Among other results, we prove that M is endo-nonsingular and End R (M) is a left extending ring iff M is a Baer module and End R (M) is left cononsingular.  相似文献

A ring R is called left slightly P-coherent if C is P-injective, for every left R-module exact sequence 0→ABC→0 with A and B P-injective. The properties of slightly P-coherent rings and several examples are studied to show that left slightly P-coherent rings fall in between left P-coherent rings and left strongly P-coherent rings. In terms of some derived functors, some homological dimensions over these rings are investigated. As applications, some new characterizations of p.p.rings are given.  相似文献

An R-module M is called a multiplication module if for each submodule N of M, N = IM for some ideal I of R. As defined for a commutative ring R, an R-module M is said to be reduced if the intersection of prime submodules of M is zero. The prime spectrum and minimal prime submodules of the reduced module M are studied. Essential submodules of M are characterized via a topological property. It is shown that the Goldie dimension of M is equal to the Souslin number of Spec(M)\mbox{\rm Spec}(M). Also a finitely generated module M is a Baer module if and only if Spec(M)\mbox{\rm Spec}(M) is an extremally disconnected space; if and only if it is a CS-module. It is proved that a prime submodule N is minimal in M if and only if for each x ∈ N, Ann(x) \not í (N:M).\mbox{\rm Ann}(x) \not \subseteq (N:M). When M is finitely generated; it is shown that every prime submodule of M is maximal if and only if M is a von Neumann regular module (VNM); i.e., every principal submodule of M is a summand submodule. Also if M is an injective R-module, then M is a VNM.  相似文献

For a fixed given right R-module M, so-called M-flat left R-modules are investigated, which are flat relative to short exact sequences in the subcategory σ[M] subgenerated by M. The properties of M-flat modules lead naturally to a concept of an M-coherent module and M-coherent ring R. Various properties and characterizations of M-coherent modules and rings are proven.

We carry out an extensive study of modules M R with the property that M/f(M) is singular for all injective endomorphisms f of M. Such modules called “quasi co-Hopfian”, generalize co-Hopfian modules. It is shown that a ring R is semisimple if and only if every quasi co-Hopfian R-module is co-Hopfian. Every module contains a unique largest fully invariant quasi co-Hopfian submodule. This submodule is determined for some modules including the semisimple ones. Over right nonsingular rings several equivalent conditions to being quasi co-Hopfian are given. Modules with all submodules quasi co-Hopfian are called “completely quasi co-Hopfian” (cqcH). Over right nonsingular rings and over certain right Noetherian rings, it is proved that every finite reduced rank module is cqcH. For a right nonsingular ring which is right semi-Artinian (resp. right FBN) the class of cqcH modules is the same as the class of finite reduced rank modules if and only if there are only finitely many isomorphism classes of nonsingular R-modules which are simple (resp. indecomposable injective).  相似文献

We introduce the notions of “t-extending modules,” and “t-Baer modules,” which are generalizations of extending modules. The second notion is also a generalization of nonsingular Baer modules. We show that a homomorphic image (hence a direct summand) of a t-extending module and a direct summand of a t-Baer module inherits the property. It is shown that a module M is t-extending if and only if M is t-Baer and t-cononsingular. The rings for which every free right module is t-extending are called right Σ-t-extending. The class of right Σ-t-extending rings properly contains the class of right Σ-extending rings. Among other equivalent conditions for such rings, it is shown that a ring R is right Σ-t-extending, if and only if, every right R-module is t-extending, if and only if, every right R-module is t-Baer, if and only if, every nonsingular right R-module is projective. Moreover, it is proved that for a ring R, every free right R-module is t-Baer if and only if Z 2(R R ) is a direct summand of R and every submodule of a direct product of nonsingular projective R-modules is projective.  相似文献

Let T be a Wakamatsu tilting module. A module M is called (n, T)-copure injective (resp. (n, T)-copure flat) if ɛ T 1 (N, M) = 0 (resp. Γ1 T (N, M) = 0) for any module N with T-injective dimension at most n (see Definition 2.2). In this paper, it is shown that M is (n, T)-copure injective if and only if M is the kernel of an I n (T)-precover f: AB with A ∈ Prod T. Also, some results on Prod T-syzygies are presented. For instance, it is shown that every nth Prod T-syzygy of every module, generated by T, is (n, T)-copure injective.  相似文献

In this paper we obtain characterizations of classes of semirings by P-injective and projective right R-semimodules. We prove that a semiring R is von Neumann regular if and only if each cyclic right R-semimodule is P-injective. Moreover, a commutative semiring R whose principal ideals are k-closed is von Neumann regular if and only if every simple R-semimodule is PP-injective. We also examine some properties of right PP-semirings, that is, semirings all of whose principal right ideals are projective. It is shown that R is a right PP-semiring if and only if the endomorphism semiring of every cyclic projective right R-semimodule is right PP.  相似文献

Let M be a left R-module. Then M is a McCoy (resp., dual McCoy) module if for nonzero f(X)∈R[X] and m(X)∈M[X], f(X)m(X) = 0 implies there exists a nonzero rR (resp., mM) with rm(X) = 0 (resp., f(X)m = 0). We show that for R commutative every R-module is dual McCoy, but give an example of a non-McCoy module. A number of other results concerning (dual) McCoy modules as well as arithmetical, Gaussian, and Armendariz modules are given.  相似文献

All rings are commutative with identity and all modules are unital. Anderson proved that a submodule N of an R-module M is multiplication (resp. join principal) if and only if 0(+) N is a multiplication (resp. join principal) ideal or R(M). The idealization of M. In this article we develop more fully the tool of idealization of a module, particularly in the context of multiplication modules, generalizing Anderson's theorems and discussing the behavior under idealization of some ideals and some submodules associated with a module.  相似文献

Let R be a ring and M a fixed right R-module. A new characterization of M-flatness is given by certain linear equations. For a left R-module F such that the canonical map M? R F → Hom R (M?, F) is injective, where M? = Hom R (M, R), the M-flatness of F is characterized via certain matrix subgroups. An example is given to show that R need not be M-coherent even if every left R-module is M-flat. Moreover, some properties of M-coherent rings are discussed.  相似文献

We introduce the notions of IDS modules, IP modules, and Baer* modules, which are new generalizations of von Neumann regular rings, PP rings, and Baer rings, respectively, in a general module theoretic setting. We obtain some characterizations and properties of IDS modules, IP modules and Baer* modules. Some important classes of rings are characterized in terms of IDS modules, IP modules, and Baer* modules.  相似文献
