p-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde (DMABA) and p-dimethylaminoacetophenone (DMAA) were investigated in nonpolar and polar protic and aprotic solvents over a wide temperature range. The sequence of the lower lying excited states was established. The temperature dependence of the fluorescence yields was interpreted within the irreversible reaction kinetics scheme b1→TICT (twisted internal charge transfer) state. The activation energies and the rate constants were evaluated. Differences between the low-temperature fluorescence or phosphorescence excitation spectra and the absorption spectrum were found to be due to the existence of different rotamers in the ground state. Quantum chemical (INDO) calculations of the energies of electronic transitions, oscillator strengths and dipole moments were performed for flat and twisted conformations of DMABA.  相似文献

The phenomenon of excited state twisted intramolecular charge transfer (TICT) process in N,N-dimethylaminonaphthyl-(acrylo)-nitrile (DMANAN) has been reported on the basis of steady-state absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy in combination with quantum chemical calculations. The absorption and fluorescence characteristics of DMANAN in solvents of different polarity reveal the presence of a single species in the ground state which forms the intramolecular charge transfer state upon photoexcitation. The observed dual fluorescence is assigned to a high-energy emission from the locally excited or the Franck-Condon state and the red-shifted emission from the charge transfer (CT) state. In polar protic solvents, hydrogen-bonding interaction on CT emission has been established from the linear dependency of the position of the low-energy emission maxima on hydrogen-bonding parameter (α). The experimental findings have been correlated with the theoretical results based on TICT model obtained at density functional theory (DFT) level. The theoretical potential energy surface for the first excited state along both the donor and acceptor twist coordinates in the gas phase obtained by time dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) method and in polar solvent by time dependent density functional theory-polarized continuum model (TDDFT-PCM) method predicts well the experimental spectral properties.  相似文献

The absorption and steady-state fluorescence spectra of fluorenone, 1-hydroxyfluorenone, and 3-dimethylaminofluorenone have been obtained for various concentrations in a series of non-polar and polar solvents. The substituents (-OH and -N(CH3)2) as the electron-donating functional groups cause a large shift of the longwave absorption band and Stokes' shift of the monomer- and excimer-fluorescence bands in comparison with fluorenone. The total emission spectrum of 3-dimethylaminoflourenone in polar aprotic solvents exhibits a new band at 500 nm originating form the emission of the twisted intramolecular charge transfer (TICT) isomer. The excited state dipole moments of the emiting species of the molecule studied are determined using the solvatation shift method and calculated values of the ground state dipole moments.  相似文献

The results from the electrooptical absorption measurements (EOAM) on the equilibrium ground and excited Franck-Condon state dipole moments of Prodan and Laurdan in 1,4-dioxane are presented. As follows from experiments Prodan and Laurdan in the equilibrium ground and excited Franck-Condon state have two conformers with considerably different dipole moments. The electrical dipole moments and the transition dipole moment, obtained from the short-wavelength region of the absorption spectrum are parallel. The electrical dipole moments measured at the long-wavelength spectral region are parallel to each other but not parallel to the transition dipole moment m a. The angle θ between the transition dipole moment m a and the dipole moment in the equilibrium ground state μ g of the long-wavelength conformer is about 300 for both probes. Obtained results evidence that donor-acceptor pairs of the short-wavelength and long-wavelength conformers are not located on the same axis. Two low-energy conformers of Prodan have been found by density functional theory (DFT) calculations, differing in the orientation of the carbonyl group towards the naphthalene system.  相似文献

The study on the relationship between the structure and spectroscopic properties of styrylquinolinium dyes were carried out by measuring the electronic visible absorption, steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence spectra of quinoline based hemicyanine dyes. The influence of the solvent on absorption and emission spectra and the solvatochromic properties, observed for both ground and first excited states, for all the dyes were applied for the evaluation of their excited state dipole moments. The ground state dipole moments of dyes under the study were established by applying ab initio calculations. The measured, using solvatochromic methods, excited state dipole moments of tested hemicyanines are in the range from 5.38 to 18.90 D and the change in the dipole moments caused by excitation were found to differ from 1.88 to 6.64 D. It was observed that for all tested dyes the dipole moments of the excited states were higher than those of a ground states. The fluorescence lifetime measurements with picosecond resolution was performed for entire series of hemicyanine dyes possessing different dialkylamino groups attached to the phenyl ring. The average lifetimes of the dye fluorescence, determined from the measured data by multi-order exponential decay curve fitting, were in the range from about 120 to 1200 ps at the fluorescence peak wavelength. The fluorescence lifetime measurements were performed for dyes in ethyl acetate solutions. The time-resolved fluorescence spectra measurements allowed to propose the mechanism of the dyes excited states deactivation.  相似文献

Experimental steady-state solvatochromic and thermochromic studies of Nile Red absorption and emission in nine dipolar solvents are reported, as well as theoretical modeling results concerning the ground and excited states of Nile Red in solution. Solvatochromic absorption and emission data analyzed according to conventional methods yield ground- and excited-state dipole moments of 8.9 ± 0.5 and 14.4 ± 0.5 D. Application of this conventional model to thermochromic shift data gave dipole moments of 8.4 ± 1.0 and 13.4 ± 1.0 D. The thermochromic data were also analyzed using a novel solute monopole–solvent dipole model; this model did not appear to reproduce trends in the thermochromic shift data as well as the conventional model. Results of semiempirical ZINDO/S calculations on Nile Red combined with an Onsager model for solvation were also used to examine the energetics of the excited states of Nile Red in solution. These calculations suggest the presence of a TICT state in Nile Red comparable in energy to an emitting excited state at high solvent polarity. Conventional models for solvatochromic and thermochromic response, however, appear to explain the experimental results independently of any emission from this TICT state in the present solvents.  相似文献

The solvent effects on the electronic absorption and emission fluorescence spectra for a series of chalcone cyclic analogues were studied. The singlet-state excited dipole moments and the ground state dipole moments of the cyclic chalcone analogues E-2- benzylidene-1-benzosuberone E-2-(4′-methoxybenzylidene)-1-benzosuberone E-2-(4′-dimethylaminobenzylidene)-1-benzosuberone were calculated by using solvatochromic shift method by means of equations using the variations of Stokes’ shift with the solvent's dielectric constant and refractive index values. It was found that the excited state dipole moments calculated by the solvatochromic shift method were greater than the ground state dipole moments indicating a substantial redistribution of the pi-electron densities in a more polar excited state for each derivative.  相似文献

From the temperature effect on the fluorescence bands of 4-N,N-dimethylaminobenzonitrile the dipole moments of the two emitting species are estimated as 5 (normal fluorescence) and 15 (anomalous fluorescence) Debye above the ground-state dipole moment. The dipole moment of the anomalous emitter does not change with solvent polarity and this emitter is therefore probably a molecular species (i.e. twisted charge-transfer state) and not a solvent-solute exciplex.  相似文献

The photophysical properties of chlorin e6 (Ce6) in twelve different protic, aprotic and non-polar solvents were investigated using ultraviolet–visible and fluorescence spectroscopic methods. Solvatochromic effects were determined by the changes in quantum yield, Stokes shift, fluorescence half-life and excited state dipole moments of Ce6 in the different solvents. The absorption shifts observed in different solvents were further analyzed using the Kamlet-Abboud-Taft model and the nature of solute-solvent interactions between Ce6 and different protic and aprotic solvents was elucidated. The quantum yields were found highest in protic solvents (except water), followed by aprotic and non-polar solvents. Solvent polarity parameters showed a linear increasing trend with Stokes shift and fluorescence half-life, which indicated the presence of Ce6-solvent interaction. Using the Kamlet-Abboud-Taft model, a direct correlation between the solvent polarity parameters and absorption shift was observed, which substantiated the existence of Ce6-solvent interaction by hydrogen bond formation. The excited state dipole moments in specific protic and aprotic solvents were found to be higher than the ground state dipole moments, implying a more polar nature of Ce6 during excited state transition.  相似文献

The solvatochromic behavior of the 1,4-bis(((2-methylthio) phenylimino)methyl) benzene [BMTPMB] in single solvents and binary mixtures were investigated. Fluorescence spectra show the dual emission due to twisted intramolecular charge transfer (TICT) state. The preferential solvation parameters: local mole fraction, X2L, solvation index δs2, exchange constant K12 were calculated for the binary mixtures, ACN+MEOH, DMSO+CCl4 and CCl4+1,2 DCE. The dipole moment ratios between ground and excited states were deduced using the solvatochromic shifts of absorption and fluorescence spectra as a function of dielectric constant (ε), refractive index (n) and it was found to be 1.25.  相似文献

Fluorescence spectra, quantum yields and lifetimes of p-cyano-N,N-dimethylaniline (CDMA) were studied in various binary mixtures of n-hexane with chlorinated hydrocarbons. Solvent effects on the equilibrium between normal emission and fluorescence originating from the highly dipolar twisted internal charge transfer (TICT) state arise predominantly from non-specific solute-solvent interactions. The non-radiative deactivation rate of the TICT state is affected primarily by the solvent composition and slows down with the stabilization of the TICT state in environments of high polarity.  相似文献

The fluorescence properties of several pyrazoloquinoline derivatives were performed by stationary as well as by time-resolved spectrosopy. Non-donor-substituted compounds show a high quantum yield; transition dipole moments of absorption and fluorescence as well as experimental and calculated lifetimes are in excellent agreement. The donor-substituted compound DMA-DPPQ exhibits a charge transfer fluorescence in polar solvents. Additionally, dual fluorescence appears in polar protic solvents. The nature of the charge transfer state is discussed with respect to the the TICT model.  相似文献

The effect of positional substitution of amino group on the ground and excited state dipole moments of quinoline ring has been investigated using solvatochromic shift methods. The excited state dipole moments of 5aminoquinoline (5AQ) and 3aminoquinoline (3AQ) have been estimated from the spectral data in different non-polar, polar aprotic and polar protic solvents using Bakhshiev and Kawski-Chamma-Viallet equations. It has been observed that both grounds as well as excited state dipole moments for 5AQ are higher than those for 3AQ by approximately a factor of two. Higher values of the excited state dipole moments for both 3AQ and 5AQ as compared to corresponding ground state values have been attributed to intramolecular charge transfer processes. The role of specific solute-solvent interaction on excited state dipole moment in addition to the general solvent effects has been discussed.  相似文献

Rotational diffusion of coumarin 6 (C6) laser dye has been examined in n-decane and methanol as a function of temperature. The rotational reorientation of this probe has been measured in these solvents. It is observed that the decrease in viscosity of the solution is responsible for the decrease in the rotational relaxation time of the probe molecule. The molecule C6 has long reorientation times in n-decane solvent as compared to methanol over all temperatures. It is found that the coumarin 6 rotates slower in n-decane than in methanol especially at higher values of viscosity over temperature. Two methods are chosen to determine the ground state and excited state dipole moments. The change in dipole moments is estimated from Bakhshiev-Chamma-Viallet equations and, the ground and excited state dipole moments from Kawski et al. equations, by using the variations of the Stokes shifts with the dielectric constant and refractive index of the solvent. Our results are quite reliable which are solvatochromic correlation obtained using solvent polarity functions. The reported results show that excited state dipole moment is greater than ground state dipole moment, which indicates that the excited state is more polar than the ground state.  相似文献

The spectral and temporal characteristics of new 6,12-dimethoxyindolo[3,2-b]carbazole, 5,11-dimethyl-6,12-dimethoxyindolo[3,2-b]carbazole, and 5,11-dihexyl-6,12-di(hexyloxy)indolo[3,2-b]carbazole fluorescence probes in organic solvents and protein complexes are studied. The dipole moments of indolocarbazoles in 1,4-dioxane were measured by electrooptical absorption method. The measured dipole moments have values within the range of (3.1–3.6) × 10−30 C m in the equilibrium ground state and increase to (4.8–5.6) × 10−30 C m after excitation. The excited state lifetime of indolocarbazole derivatives increases with increasing polarity and viscosity of the environment. The binding of indolocarbazoles with trypsinogen and human serum albumin increases the fluorescence intensity, changes the intensity ratio of fluorescence bands, and increases the average excited state lifetime of indolocarbazoles. The analysis of the instantaneous fluorescence spectra and fluorescence decay parameters at different wavelengths revealed the existence of several types of probe binding sites in proteins. It is found that the fluorescence characteristics of indolocarbazole derivatives depend on the conformation rearrangements of trypsinogen due to its thermal denaturation.  相似文献

The absorption and emission spectra of two coumarins namely 7, 8 benzo-4-azidomethyl coumarin (C1) and 6-methoxy-4-azidomethyl coumarin (C2) have been recorded at room temperature in solvents of different polarities. The ground state dipole moments (μ g ) of two coumarins were determined experimentally by Guggenheim method. The exited state (μ e ) dipole moments were estimated from Lippert’s, Bakhshievs and Chamma-Viallet’s equations by using the variation of Stoke’s shift with the solvent dielectric constant and refractive index. The ground and excited state dipole moments were calculated by means of solvatochromic shift method and also the excited state dipole moments are determined in combination with ground state dipole moments. The absorption and fluorescence spectra of three Carboxamides namely (E)-2-(4-Chlorobenzylideneamino)-N-(2-chlorophenyl)-4, 5, 6, 7-tetrahydrobenzo[b]thiophene-3-carboxamide (C1), (E)-N-(3-Chlorophenyl)-2-(3, 4-dimethoxybenzylideneamino)-4, 5, 6, 7-tetrahydrobenzo[b]thiophene-3-carboxamide (C2) and (E)-N-(3-Chlorophenyl)-2-(3, 4, 5-trimethoxybenzylideneamino)-4, 5, 6, 7-tetrahydrobenzo[b]thiophene-3-carboxamide (C3) have been recorded at room temperature in solvents of different polarities using dielectric constant (ε) and refractive index (n). Experimental ground (μg) and excited (μe) state dipole moments are estimated by means of solvatochromic shift method and also the excited dipole moments are estimated in combination with ground state dipole moments. It was estimated that dipole moments of the excited state were higher than those of the ground state of all three molecules. Further, the changes in dipole moment (Dm \Delta \mu ) were calculated both from solvatochromic shift method and on the basis of microscopic empirical solvent polarity parameter (ETN E_T^N ) and the values are compared.  相似文献

本文采用时间分辨荧光光谱方法,考查了两种7-胺基香豆类素衍生物分子在不同溶剂中的荧光辐射弛豫过程,研究了环境因素对伴随着分子内电荷转移的分子内转动激发态(TICT)弛豫过程的影响。结果说明TICT态是非刚性香豆素分子激发态无辐射弛豫路径之一,这一过程受到环境介质的极性、粘度和温度的影响。并指出了在考虑粘度影响时,须对DSE理论进行修正,同时提出了TICT态存在位垒的观点。  相似文献
