In slab-geometry laser amplifiers with zig-zag optical paths, multiple reflections within the slab cause the extracting optical beams to repeatedly fold over themselves. Because of this, some regions of the slabs are extracted by two overlapping beams. The theory for pulse propagation in laser amplifiers by L.M. Frantz and J.S. Nodvik (see J. Appl. Phys., vol.34. no.8, p.2346-9, 1963) is extended to include the effects of the zig-zag optical path. Simple equations for slabs which are either uniformly filled by the extracting beam or partially filled are derived. This paper presents two methods for calculating the thermally induced stress, focusing, and depolarization in a pumped zigzag-slab solid-state laser. A computer program capable of detailed calculations of thermal effects in the general case is described. An approximate analysis of slab thermal effects in many cases allows calculation of these effects without use of the computer model directly. The analysis predicts that slabs of square cross section can be designed to have low depolarization and thermal focusing compared to Nd:YAG laser rods.  相似文献

研制了用于远程激光脉冲测距机的板条激光器。使用半导体泵浦的MOPA激光结构实现了大于250 mJ的脉冲激光输出,输出脉冲宽度为12.83 ns,最终输出激光光束束散角为0.18 mrad。该激光测照器可应用于远程激光测距。对激光测距机的测距与照射能力进行了理论计算与分析。理论分析表明,应用于机载平台时,该激光测照器能够实现50 km距离的激光测距。该型激光测距机具有测距距离远,重量轻,结构紧凑等特点,具有广泛的应用前景。  相似文献

Experiments on laser gyros with adjustable beam path geometry yield a strong dependency between the lock-in threshold and the distribution of the backscatter sources. Based on a simple vector formalism, a theory is presented which describes the lock-in threshold as a function of the beam path geometry. In accordance with the experimental results, the theory is a helpful tool to minimize the lock-in threshold by an optimization of the resonator geometry. The theory also offers an explanation of the fact that the quality of laser gyros often differs, even between gyros of the same production series, under the same operating conditions and with mirrors of comparable quality.  相似文献

A new Y-branch structure for dielectric waveguides is proposed and analysed using simple geometrical optics and beam propagation methods. It is shown both qualitatively and quantitatively that the proposed structure has larger branching angles but lower radiation loss than those associated with either conventional Y-branches or structures with antenna coupled and phase front accelerators. The optimal design parameters calculated by numerical simulations are in very good agreement with those found from the geometrical optics. The simulations also reveal that the performance is fairly insensitive to fabrication errors  相似文献
