In this paper, we consider immersed two-sided minimal hypersurfaces in \(\mathbb {R}^n\) with finite total curvature. We prove that the sum of the Morse index and the nullity of the Jacobi operator is bounded from below by a linear function of the number of ends and the first Betti number of the hypersurface. When \(n=4\), we are able to drop the nullity term by a careful study for the rigidity case. Our result is the first effective Morse index bound by purely topological invariants, and is a generalization of Li and Wang (Math Res Lett 9(1):95–104, 2002). Using our index estimates and ideas from the recent work of Chodosh–Ketover–Maximo (Minimal surfaces with bounded index, 2015. arXiv:1509.06724), we prove compactness and finiteness results of minimal hypersurfaces in \(\mathbb {R}^4\) with finite index. 相似文献

The nonlinear programming problem of finding the minimum covering ball of a finite set of points in \(\mathbb {R}^n\), with a positive weight corresponding to each point, is solved by a directional search method. At each iteration, the search path is either a ray or the arc of a circle and is determined by bisectors of points. Each step size along the search path is determined explicitly. The primal algorithm is shown to search along the farthest point Voronoi diagram of the given points. We provide computational results that show the efficiency of the algorithm when compared to general convex nonlinear optimization solvers. 相似文献

Laguerre geometry of surfaces in is given in the book of Blaschke [Vorlesungen über Differentialgeometrie, Springer, Berlin Heidelberg New York (1929)], and has been studied by Musso and Nicolodi [Trans. Am. Math. soc. 348, 4321–4337 (1996); Abh. Math. Sem. Univ. Hamburg 69, 123–138 (1999); Int. J. Math. 11(7), 911–924 (2000)], Palmer [Remarks on a variation problem in Laguerre geometry. Rendiconti di Mathematica, Serie VII, Roma, vol. 19, pp. 281–293 (1999)] and other authors. In this paper we study Laguerre differential geometry of hypersurfaces in . For any umbilical free hypersurface with non-zero principal curvatures we define a Laguerre invariant metric g on M and a Laguerre invariant self-adjoint operator : TM → TM, and show that is a complete Laguerre invariant system for hypersurfaces in with n≥ 4. We calculate the Euler–Lagrange equation for the Laguerre volume functional of Laguerre metric by using Laguerre invariants. We consider the problem of interpolating a holomorphic family of nondegenerate holomorphic jets on \(\mathbb {C}^n\) for \(n>1\), parametrized by points in a Stein manifold, by a holomorphic family of automorphisms of \(\mathbb {C}^n\). The purpose of this article is to extend to \(\mathbb {R}^{n}\) known results in dimension 2 concerning the structure of a Hilbert space with reproducing kernel of the space of Herglotz wave functions. These functions are the solutions of Helmholtz equation in \(\mathbb {R} ^{n}\) that are the Fourier transform of measures supported in the unit sphere with density in \(L^{2}(\mathbb {S}^{n-1})\). As a natural extension of this, we define Banach spaces of solutions of the Helmholtz equation in \(\mathbb {R}^{n}\) belonging to weighted Sobolev type spaces \(\mathcal {H}^{p}\) having in a non local norm that involves radial derivatives and spherical gradients. We calculate the reproducing kernel of the Herglotz wave functions and study in \(\mathcal {H}^{p}\) and in mixed norm spaces, the continuity of the orthogonal projection \(\mathcal {P}\) of \(\mathcal {H}^{2}\) onto the Herglotz wave functions. 相似文献
