In this paper, we combine a finite element approach with the natural boundary element method to stduy the weak solvability and Galerkin approximations of a class of semilinear exterior boundary value problems. Our analysis is mainly based on the variational formulation with constraints. We discuss the error estimate of the finite element solution and obtain the asymptotic rate of convergence O(h^n) Finally, we also give two numerical examples.  相似文献

THE NONCONFORMING FINITE ELEMENT METHOD FOR SIGNORINI PROBLEM   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
We present the Crouzeix-Raviart linear nonconforming finite element approximation of the variational inequality resulting from Signorini problem. We show if the displacement field is of H2 regularity, then the convergence rate can be improved from O(h3/4) to quasi-optimal O(h|log h|1/4) with respect to the energy norm as that of the continuous linear finite element approximation. If stronger but reasonable regularity is available, the convergence rate can be improved to the optimal O(h) as expected by the linear approximation.  相似文献

Consider a time-harmonic electromagnetic plane wave incident on a biperiodic structure in R^3. The periodic structure separates two homogeneous regions. The medium inside the structure is chiral and nonhomogeneous. In this paper, variational formulations coupling finite element methods in the chiral medium with a method of integral equations on the periodic interfaces are studied. The well-posedness of the continuous and discretized problems is established. Uniform convergence for the coupling variational approximations of the model problem is obtained.  相似文献

In this paper, some V-cycle multigrid algorithms are presented for the coupling system arising from the discretization of the Dirichlet exterior problem by coupling the natural boundary element method and finite element method. The convergence of these multigrid algorithms is obtained even with only one smoothing on all levels. The rate of convergence is found uniformly bounded independent of the number of levels and the mesh sizes of all levels, which indicates that these multigrid algorithms are optimal. In this paper, a new numerical method for the Signorini problem in three-dimensional elasticity is presented. The problem is reduced to a boundary variational inequality based on a new representation of the derivative of the doublelayer potential. In this paper, we propose adaptive finite element methods with error control for solving elasticity problems with discontinuous coefficients. The meshes in the methods do not need to fit the interfaces. We establish a residual-based a posteriori error estimate which is $λ$-independent multiplicative constants; the Lamé constant $λ$ steers the incompressibility. The error estimators are then implemented and tested with promising numerical results which will show the competitive behavior of the adaptive algorithm.  相似文献

We consider the approximation of systems of reaction-diffusion equations, with the finite element method. The highest derivative in each equation is multiplied by a parameter ε∈ (0, 1], and as ε → 0 the solution of the system will contain boundary layers. We extend the analysis of the corresponding scalar problem from [Melenk, IMA J. Numer. Anal. 17(1997), pp. 577-601], to construct a finite element scheme which includes elements of size O(εp) near the boundary, where p is the degree of the approximating polynomials. We show that, under the assumption of analytic input data, the method yields exponential rates of convergence, independently of ε, when the error is measured in the energy norm associated with the problem. Numerical computations supporting the theory are also presented, which also show that the method yields robust exponential convergence rates when the error in the maximum norm is used.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate numerical methods for high order differential equations. We propose new spectral and spectral element methods for high order problems with mixed inhomogeneous boundary conditions, and prove their spectral accuracy by using the recent results on the Jacobi quasi-orthogonal approximation. Numerical results demonstrate the high accuracy of suggested algorithm, which also works well even for oscillating solutions.  相似文献

A new stabilized finite element method which is different from Hughes and Franco's (1988) is presented for the Reissner-Mindlin plate model. The least square mesh-dependent residual form of the shear constitute equation is added to the Partial Projection scheme to enhance the stability. Using piecewise polynomials of order k≥1 for the rotations, of order k+1 for the displacement and of order k-1 for the shear, the kth order error-estimates are obtained. Besides, our computing scheme can be also applied to some lower order elements. All error-estimates are obtained independent of the plate thickness, and the stability parameter is an arbitrary positive constant.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the coupling of natural boundary element and finite element methods of exterior initial boundary value problems for hyperbolic equations. The governing equation is first discretized in time, leading to a time-step scheme, where an exterior elliptic problem has to be solved in each time step. Second, a circular artificial boundary FR consisting of a circle of radius R is introduced, the original problem in an unbounded domain is transformed into the nonlocal boundary value problem in abounded subdomain. And the natural integral equation and the Poisson integral formula are obtained in the infinite domainΩ2 outside circle of radius R. The coupled variational formulation is given. Only the function itself, not its normal derivative at artificial boundary ΓR, appears in the variational equation, so that the unknown numbers are reducedand the boundary element stiffness matrix has a few different elements. Such a coupled method is superior to the one based on direct boundary element method. This paper discusses finite element discretization for variational problem and its corresponding numerical technique, and the convergence for the numerical solutions. Finally, the numerical example is presented to illustrate feasibility and efficiency of this method.  相似文献

本文将小波分析与有限元法结合起来,建立了一种小波-有限元计算格式,并用该算法计算了一个典型的边界层问题,探讨了寻找边界层位置的过程以及计算边界层区的内部解及外部解的步骤。计算结果表明,用该法寻找的边界层位置以及所求得的内部解与真实结果完全符合。  相似文献
