Non-linear coupled vertical and torsional vibrations of suspension bridges are investigated. Method of Multiple Scales, a perturbation technique, is applied to the equations to find approximate analytical solutions. The equations are not discretized as usually done, rather the perturbation method is applied directly to the partial differential equations. Free and forced vibrations with damping are investigated in detail. Amplitude and phase modulation equations are obtained. The dependence of non-linear frequency on amplitude is described. Steady-state solutions are analyzed. Frequency-response equation is derived and the jump phenomenon in the frequency-response curves resulting from non-linearity is considered. Effects of initial amplitude and phase values, amplitude of excitation, and damping coefficient on modal amplitudes, are determined.  相似文献

The nonlinear dynamics of a differential system describing the motion of a vehicle driven by a pilot is examined. In a first step, the stability of the system near the critical speed is analyzed by the bifurcation method in order to characterize its behavior after a loss of stability. It is shown that a Hopf bifurcation takes place, the stability of limit cycles depending mainly on the vehicle and pilot model parameters. In a second step, the front wheels of the vehicle are assumed to be subjected to a periodic disturbance. Chaotic and hyperchaotic motions are found to occur for some range of the speed parameter. Numerical simulations, such as bifurcation diagrams, Poincaré maps, Fourier spectrums, projection of trajectories, and Lyapunov exponents are used to establish the existence of chaotic attractors. Multiple attractors may coexist for some values of the speed, and basins of attraction for such attractors are shown to have fractal geometries.  相似文献

Nonlinear dynamic behaviors of a rotor-labyrinth seal system   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
The nonlinear model of rotor-labyrinth seal system is established using Muszynska’s nonlinear seal forces. We deal with dynamic behaviors of the unbalanced rotor-seal system with sliding bearing based on the adopted model and Newmark integration method. The influence of the labyrinth seal one the nonlinear characteristics of the rotor system is analyzed by the bifurcation diagrams and Poincare’ maps. Various phenomena in the rotor-seal system, such as periodic motion, double-periodic motion, quasi-periodic motion and Hopf bifurcation are investigated and the stability is judged by Floquet theory and bifurcation theorem. The influence of parameters on the critical instability speed of the rotor-seal system is also included.  相似文献

An analytical technique, namely the homotopy analysis method (HAM), is used to solve problems of nonlinear oscillations with parametric excitation. Unlike perturbation methods, HAM is not dependent on any small physical parameters at all, and thus valid for both weakly and strongly nonlinear problems. In addition, HAM is different from all other analytic techniques in providing a simple way to adjust and control convergence region of the series solution by means of an auxiliary parameter h. In the present paper, a periodic analytic approximations for nonlinear oscillations with parametric excitation are obtained by using HAM, and the results are validated by numerical simulations.  相似文献

In this paper, a multi-degree-of-freedom lumped parameter coupled vehicle-bridge dynamic model is proposed considering the nonlinearities of suspension and tire stiffness/damping and the nonlinear foundation of bridge. In terms of modelling, the continuous expressions of the kinetic energy, potential energy and the dissipation function are constructed. The dynamic equations of the coupled vehicle-bridge system (CVBS) are derived and discretized using Galerkin’s scheme, which yield a set of second-order nonlinear ordinary differential equations with coupled terms. The numerical simulations are conducted by using the Newmark-β integration method to perform a parametric study of the effects on excitation amplitude, suspension stiffness and position relation. The bifurcation diagram, 3-D frequency spectrum and largest Lyapunov exponent are demonstrated in order to better understand the vibration properties and interaction between the vehicle and bridge with the key system parameters. It can be found that the nonlinear dynamic characteristics such as parametric resonance, jump phenomena, periodic, quasi-periodic and chaotic motions are strongly attributed to the interaction between vehicle and bridge. Significantly, under the combined internal and external excitations, the vibration amplitudes of the CVBS have a certain degree of dependence on the external excitation. Suspension stiffness could lead to complex dynamics such as the higher-order bifurcations increase and the chaotic regions broaden. The increasing of distance could effectively control the nonlinear vibration of CVBS. The application of the proposed nonlinear coupled vehicle-bridge model would bring higher computational accuracy and make it possible to design the vehicle and bridge simultaneously.  相似文献

Many dynamical systems are subject to some form of non-smooth or discontinuous nonlinearity. One eminent example of such a nonlinearity is friction. This is caused by the fact that friction always opposes the direction of movement, thus changing sign when the sliding velocity changes sign. In this paper, a structure with friction-based seismic base isolation is regarded. Seismic base isolation can be employed to decouple a superstructure from the potentially hazardous surrounding ground motion. As a result, the seismic resistance of the superstructure can be improved. In this case study, the base isolation system is composed of linear laminated rubber bearings and viscous dampers and nonlinear friction elements. The nonlinear dynamic modelling of the base-isolated structure with the aid of constraint equations, is elaborated. Furthermore, the influence of the dynamic characteristics of the superstructure and the nonlinear modelling of the isolation system, on the total system’s dynamic response, is examined. Hereto, the effects of various modelling approaches are considered. Furthermore, the dynamic performance of the system is studied in both nonlinear transient and steady-state analyses. It is shown that, next to (and in correlation with) transient analyses, steady-state analyses can provide valuable insight in the discontinuous dynamic behaviour of the system. This case study illustrates the importance and development of nonlinear modelling and nonlinear analysis tools for non-smooth dynamical systems.  相似文献

This paper deals with nonlinear oscillations of conservative single-degree-of-freedom systems with odd nonlinearity. By combining the linearization of the governing equation with the method of harmonic balance, we establish two approximate analytic formulas for the period. These two formulas are valid for small as well as large amplitudes of oscillation. Three examples are used to illustrate that the proposed formulas can give very satisfactory approximate results. Sommario.

We have deduced incremental harmonic balance an iteration scheme in the (IHB) method using the harmonic balance plus the Newton-Raphson method. Since the convergence of the iteration is dependent upon the initial values in the iteration, the convergent region is greatly restricted for some cases. In this contribution, in order to enlarge the convergent region of the IHB method, we constructed the zeroth-order deformation equation using the homotopy analysis method, in which the IHB method is employed to solve the deformation equation with an embedding parameter as the active increment. Taking the Duffing and the van der Pol equations as examples, we obtained the highly accurate solutions. Importantly, the presented approach renders a convenient way to control and adjust the convergence.  相似文献

The BEM is developed for nonlinear free and forced vibrations of circular plates with variable thickness undergoing large deflections. General boundary conditions are considered, which may be also nonlinear. The problem is formulated in terms of displacements. The solution is based on the concept of the analog equation, according to which the two coupled nonlinear differential equations with variable coefficients pertaining to the in-plane radial and transverse deformation are converted to two uncoupled linear ones of a substitute beam with unit axial and unit bending stiffness, respectively, under fictitious quasi-static load distributions. Numerical examples are presented which illustrate the method and demonstrate its accuracy.  相似文献

A general model of a rub-impact rotor-bearing system with initial permanent bow is set up and the corresponding governing motion equation is given. The nonlinear oil-film forces from the journal bearing are obtained under the short bearing theory. The rubbing model is assumed to consist of the radial elastic impact and the tangential Coulomb type of friction. Through numerical calculation, rotating speeds, initial permanent bow lengths and phase angles between the mass eccentricity direction and the rotor permanent bow direction are used as control parameters to investigate their effect on the rub-impact rotor-bearing system with the help of bifurcation diagrams, Lyapunov exponents, Poincaré maps, frequency spectrums and orbit maps. Complicated motions, such as periodic, quasi-periodic even chaotic vibrations, are observed. Under the influence of the initial permanent bow, different routes to chaos are found and the speed when the rub happens is changed greatly. Corresponding results can be used to diagnose the rub-impact fault in this kind of rotor systems and this study may contribute to a further understanding of the nonlinear dynamics of such a rub-impact rotor-bearing system with initial permanent bow.  相似文献

A generalized nonlinear model is formulated for the dynamic analysis of suspension seats with passive, semi-active and active dampers. The model incorporates coulomb friction due to suspension linkages and bushings, forces arising from interactions with the elastic limit stops, a linear suspension spring and nonlinear damping force for passive, semi-active and active dampers, while the contribution due to biodynamics of the human operator is considered to be negligible. The semi-active and active dampers are characterized by force generators in accordance with the control laws based upon suspension mass velocity. Two different suspension seats are experimentally assessed in the laboratory under sinusoidal and random excitations arising from an urban bus, and the measured data is used to demonstrate the validity of the proposed generalized model. The results showed reasonably good agreement between the model results and the measured data. Optimal model parameters are selected using the sequential unconstrained minimization technique with an objective to minimize the acceleration due to vibration transmitted to the occupant mass. The comfort and safety performance characteristics of the optimal suspension seat with semi-active and active dampers are evaluated under both the sinusoidal and random excitations based on the guidelines provided by ISO-2631. From these results, it is concluded that the comfort performance of a suspension seat with semi-active and active dampers can be considerably enhanced by 20–30%.  相似文献

Complex nonlinearities of rotor-seal systems make it difficult to implement some widely used techniques for nonlinear vibrations. This is partly due to the fact that it is rather cumbersome to expand the nonlinear terms into Fourier series. In this paper, a novel Fourier series expansion method is proposed to circumvent this difficulty. The incremental harmonic balance method is utilized to obtain the solutions of a rotor-seal system, where the complicated nonlinearities are handled by the expansion method. Periodic, double-periodic and triple-periodic solutions are obtained in excellent agreement with numerical results, which shows the validity and efficacy of the proposed solution procedures.  相似文献

On the basis of the Euler-Bernoulli hypothesis, nonlinear static and dynamic responses of a viscoelastic microbeam under two kinds of electric forces [a purely direct current (DC) and a combined current composed of a DC and an alternating current] are studied. By using Taylor series expansion, a governing equation of nonlinear integro-differential type is derived, and numerical analyses are performed. When a purely DC is applied, there exist an instantaneous pull-in voltage and a durable pull-in voltage of which the physical meanings are also given, whereas under an applied combined current, the effect of the element relaxation coefficient on the dynamic pull-in phenomenon is observed where the largest Lyapunov exponent is taken as a criterion for the dynamic pull-in instability of viscoelastic microbeams.  相似文献

Tracked vehicles fitted with torsion bar suspensions are limited in their ability to achieve high mobility. This limitation is due to the linear characteristics and the consequent poorer ride performance. Hydro-gas suspensions due to their inherent non-linear behavior can provide higher mobility and better ride comfort performance. The hydro-gas suspension model has usually been developed from experimental force-displacement characteristics, which requires availability of suspension hardware. In this paper, a hydro-gas suspension system is modeled using polytropic gas compression model to represent the spring characteristics, while the damper orifices are modeled using hydraulic conductance. The analytical model is then validated with experiments individually for spring and damper flow characteristics and then as a suspension-wheel assembly in a test rig. The validated suspension model is incorporated in an in-plane model. Using this model, simulation is carried out for sinusoidal inputs of different wavelengths, amplitudes and vehicle speeds. The simulation model is validated with data measured on a vehicle traversing an APG course. The proposed model agrees very well with the measured data. Based on the validated model, studies on the influence of suspension parameters on the ride comfort of a tracked vehicle are carried out.  相似文献

A nonlinear system identification methodology based on the principle of harmonic balance and bifurcation theory techniques like center manifold analysis and normal form reduction, is presented for multi-degree-of-freedom systems. The methodology, called Bifurcation Theory System IDentification, (BiTSID), is a general procedure for any nonlinear system that exhibits periodic limit cycle response and can be used to capture the bifurcation behavior of the nonlinear systems. The BiTSID methodology is demonstrated on an experimental system single-degree-of-freedom system that deals with self-excited motions of a fluid-structure system with a sub-critical Hopf bifurcation. It is shown that BiTSID performs excellently in capturing the stable and unstable limit cycles within the experimental regime. Its performance outside the experimental regime is also studied. The application of BiTSID to experimental multi-degree-of-freedom systems has also been very successful. However in this study only the results of the single-degree-of-freedom system are presented.  相似文献
