The photochemical processes of aromatic amino acids were investigated in aqueous solution using acetone as photosensitizer by KrF (248 nm) laser flash photolysis. Laser-induced transient species were characterized according to kinetic analysis and quenching experiments. The intermediates recorded were assigned to the excited triplet state of tryptophan, the radicals of tryptophan and tyrosine. The excited triplet state of tryptophan produced via a triplet-triplet excitation transfer and the radicals arising from electron transfer reaction has been identified. Neither electron transfer nor energy transfer between triplet acetone and phenylalanine can occur in photolysis of phenylalanine aqueous solution which contains acetone. Furthermore, triplet acetone-induced radical transformation: Trp/N-Tyr→Trp-Tyr/O was observed directly in photolysis of dipeptide (Trp-Tyr) aqueous solution containing acetone, and the transformation resulting from intramolecular electron transfer was suggested.  相似文献

The photophysical properties of two energy‐transfer dyads that are potential candidates for near‐infrared (NIR) imaging probes are investigated as a function of solvent polarity. The dyads ( FbC‐FbB and ZnC‐FbB ) contain either a free base (Fb) or zinc (Zn) chlorin (C) as the energy donor and a free base bacteriochlorin (B) as the energy acceptor. The dyads were studied in toluene, chlorobenzene, 1,2‐dichlorobenzene, acetone, acetonitrile and dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO). In both dyads, energy transfer from the chlorin to bacteriochlorin occurs with a rate constant of ~(5–10 ps)?1 and a yield of >99% in nonpolar and polar media. In toluene, the fluorescence yields (Φ f = 0.19) and singlet excited‐state lifetimes (τ~5.5 ns) are comparable to those of the benchmark bacteriochlorin. The fluorescence yield and excited‐state lifetime decrease as the solvent polarity increases, with quenching by intramolecular electron (or hole) transfer being greater for FbC‐FbB than for ZnC‐FbB in a given solvent. For example, the Φ f and τ values for FbC‐FbB in acetone are 0.055 and 1.5 ns and in DMSO are 0.019 and 0.28 ns, whereas those for ZnC‐FbB in acetone are 0.12 and 4.5 ns and in DMSO are 0.072 and 2.4 ns. The difference in fluorescence properties of the two dyads in a given polar solvent is due to the relative energies of the lowest energy charge‐transfer states, as assessed by ground‐state redox potentials and supported by molecular‐orbital energies derived from density functional theory calculations. Controlling the extent of excited‐state quenching in polar media will allow the favorable photophysical properties of the chlorin–bacteriochlorin dyads to be exploited in vivo. These properties include very large Stokes shifts (85 nm for FbC‐FbB , 110 nm for ZnC‐FbB ) between the red‐region absorption of the chlorin and the NIR fluorescence of the bacteriochlorin (λ f = 760 nm), long bacteriochlorin excited‐state lifetime (~5.5 ns), and narrow (≤20 nm) absorption and fluorescence bands. The latter will facilitate selective excitation/detection and multiprobe applications using both intensity‐ and lifetime‐imaging techniques.  相似文献

Irradiation of dyad 1 in aqueous acetone leads to the introduction of an acetonyl substituent at the naphthalene 5-position, to give photoproduct 2. The proposed reaction mechanism involves electron transfer from the naphthalene excited singlet state to the ketone. Neither thymine dimers, nor acetone photoadducts involving the thymine ring were detected. These photoproducts would arise from the thymine triplet excited state, which in dyad 1 must be efficiently depopulated via a fast intramolecular energy transfer to the naphthalene chromophore, due to the lower energy of its excited triplet state.  相似文献

Rate constants for radiative decay, radiationless decay, and intersystem crossing are reported for a series of excited states formed by reaction of cyanoanthracene acceptors with alkylbenzenes as donors in several solvents of moderate to low polarity. The excited states have widely varying degrees of charge transfer, from essentially pure electron transfer states to pure locally excited states. The data illustrate the fundamental factors that control the contrasting relative efficiencies of radiative and radiationless processes in electron transfer compared to locally excited states. The radiationless decay rate constants can be described quantitatively as a function of the extent of charge transfer using weighted contributions from a locally excited decay mechanism and a pure electron-transfer type mechanism. The factors that control the rate constants for radiationless decay in excited states with intermediate charge-transfer character are discussed.  相似文献

A novel energy-transfer system involving nonaggregated cationic porphyrins adsorbed on an anionic-type clay surface and the electron-transfer reaction that occurs after light harvesting are described. In the clay-porphyrin complexes, photochemical energy transfer from excited singlet zinc porphyrins to free-base porphyrins proceeds. The photochemical electron-transfer reaction from an electron donor in solution (hydroquinone) to the adsorbed porphyrin in the excited singlet state was also examined. Because the electron-transfer rate from the hydroquinone to the excited singlet free-base porphyrin is larger than that to the excited singlet zinc porphyrin, we conclude that the energy transfer accelerates the overall electron-transfer reaction.  相似文献

We established that acetylacetone and acetone photolytically sensitize norbornene to undergo an efficient radical addition of solvent (ranging from hexane, cyclic ethers, haloalkanes, acetone, alcohols and acetonitrile) across the double bond. In view of its synthetic applicability, sensitized photoreactions of norbornene were reviewed and their mechanisms were compared. Photolysis of acetylacetone in the presence of norbornene in hexane induced i) acetylacetone to cycloadd to norbornene giving the expected 1,5-diketone, and ii) sensitization by triplet excited acetylacetone to generate reactive norbornene, which underwent dimerization as well as the addition of a solvent molecule by radical chain processes. In other solvents, the radical chain addition of solvent dominated the photoreaction, and superseded the cycloaddition, to give excellent to good yields of adducts to norbornene. While the excited species of acetylacetone for the sensitization was deduced to be its spectroscopic triplet excited state, that for the cycloaddition should involve a different one which may be a twisted triplet acetylacetone; sensitization experiments showed that the cycloaddition did not occur from the spectroscopic triplet state. Triplet excited acetone sensitized norbornene to undergo the same solvent addition more efficiently and cleanly than acetylacetone did. In view of various conflicts existing in the proposed energy transfer mechanism, the sensitized norbornene reactions were rationalized with electron transfer and a cation radical chain mechanism.  相似文献

The energy transfer between Kr atoms and highly vibrationally excited, rotationally cold biphenyl in the triplet state was investigated using crossed-beam/time-of-flight mass spectrometer/time-sliced velocity map ion imaging techniques. Compared to the energy transfer of naphthalene, energy transfer of biphenyl shows more forward scattering, less complex formation, larger cross section for vibrational to translational (V→T) energy transfer, smaller cross section for translational to vibrational and rotational (T→VR) energy transfer, larger total collisional cross section, and more energy transferred from vibration to translation. Significant increase in the large V→T energy transfer probabilities, termed supercollisions, was observed. The difference in the energy transfer of highly vibrationally excited molecules between rotationally cold naphthalene and rotationally cold biphenyl is very similar to the difference in the energy transfer of highly vibrationally excited molecules between rotationally cold naphthalene and rotationally hot naphthalene. The low-frequency vibrational modes with out-of-plane motion and rotationlike wide-angle motion are attributed to make the energy transfer of biphenyl different from that of naphthalene.  相似文献

1-azacarbazole hydrogen-bonded dimers undergo photoinduced double proton transfer reaction in their lowest excited singlet state. A second emission band with a maximum at 510 nm arises from a tautomer formed in the excited singlet state as a result of the double proton transfer process.  相似文献

Tyrosine and especially its 3,5-dihalogenoderivatives quench acetone triplets. When the excited acetone is generated free in solution, the Stern-Volmer plots for the quenching by these species, monitored via the sensitized emission of the 9,10-dibromoanthracene-2-sulfonate ion, are linear. When triplet acetone is generated enzymically by the peroxidase-catalyzed aerobic oxidation of isobutyral-dehyde, the Stern-Volmer plots for the quenching of the acetone phosphorescence curve upwards in the case of 3,5-dibromotyrosine and even more markedly with 3,5-diiodotyrosine. Quenching appears likely to occur by triplet-triplet energy transfer and especially in the case of the phenoxide form, also by electron transfer. The curvature denotes a static contribution to quenching favoured by the enzyme.  相似文献

DNA inhibits hydride transfer from 1-benzyl-1,4-dihydronicotinamide to the 10-methylacridinium ion, whereas DNA accelerates photoinduced electron transfer from the excited state of Ru(bpy)3(2+) to the 1-methylquinolinium ion. The reason of such reversed effects of DNA on the hydride transfer and electron transfer reactions is clarified.  相似文献

Abstract— The rate of energy transfer from enzyme-generated triplet acetone to riboflavin increases by three orders of magnitude when the flavin is charge-transfer complexed with 3 ,5-dihalogenotyrosines or with thyroxine. A very fast long-range energy transfer to form the first excited singlet state of riboflavin in the complex, followed by a very efficient intersystem crossing to the triplet manifold, is postulated to account for the results.  相似文献

Photophysical properties of a natural plant alkaloid, ellipticine (5,11-dimethyl-6H-pyrido[4,3-b]carbazole), which comprises both proton donating and accepting sites, have been studied in different solvents using steady state and time-resolved fluorescence techniques primarily to understand the origin of dual fluorescence that this molecule exhibits in some specific alcoholic solvents. Ground and excited state calculations based on density functional theory have also been carried out to help interpretation of the experimental data. It is shown that the long-wavelength emission of the molecule is dependent on the hydrogen bond donating ability of the solvent, and in methanol, this emission band arises solely from an excited state reaction. However, in ethylene glycol, both ground and excited state reactions contribute to the long wavelength emission. The time-resolved fluorescence data of the system in methanol and ethylene glycol indicates the presence of two different hydrogen bonded species of ellipticine of which only one participates in the excited state reaction. The rate constant of the excited state reaction in these solvents is estimated to be around 4.2-8.0 × 10(8) s(-1). It appears that the present results are better understood in terms of solvent-mediated excited state intramolecular proton transfer reaction from the pyrrole nitrogen to the pyridine nitrogen leading to the formation of the tautomeric form of the molecule rather than excited state proton transfer from the solvents leading to the formation of the protonated form of ellipticine.  相似文献

The loss of methyl radical in collision-activated dissociation (CAD) of acetone and propane molecular ions has been studied at low energy using a tandem hybrid mass spectrometer. Although the two processes are very similar chemically and energetically, very different dynamical features are observed. Acetyl ions from acetone ion are predominantly backward-scattered, with intensity maxima lying inside and outside the elastic scattering circle, confirming our previous observation that electronically excited states are important in low-energy acetone CAD. Ethyl ions from propane ion show a forward-scattered peak maximum at a nonzero scattering angle, which is consistent with generally accepted models for vibrational excitation and redistribution of energy before dissociation. Both processes demonstrate that CAD at low energy proceeds via small-impact-parameter collisions with momentum transfer. Comparison of the present results with higher energy CAD dynamics studies and earlier work leads to some tentative general conclusions about energy transfer in these processes.  相似文献

INTRAMOLECULAR TRYPTOPHAN HEME ENERGY TRANSFER IN HORSERADISH PEROXIDASE   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Abstract— Chain folding of horseradish peroxidase allocates its sole tryptophanyl residue at a distance of 18 A from the active site heme group as determined by electronic energy transfer. This finding confirms that the phosphorescence spectrum observed in the peroxidase catalyzed oxidation of isobutyraldehydc is due to the excited triplet state acetone produced.  相似文献

The syntheses of sodium 9,10-dibromo- and 9,10-diphenylanthracene-2-sulfonate (DBAS and DPAS, respectively) are described and their photophysical properties determined. These two probes were used in aqueous solution studies of the kinetic parameters of tetramethyldioxetane thermolysis, which were found to be the same as in organic solvents. The yields of triplet and singlet acetone generated by the decomposition of this dioxetane in water are also comparable to the literature values in organic medium. The lifetime of triplet acetone in water was determined to be 13 ± 2 u.s by a method based on the measurement of the fluorescence decay of DBAS excited via energy transfer from triplet acetone, by the time-correlated single-photon counting technique. Sorbate ion quenches triplet acetone from tetramethyldioxetane with a rate constant smaller but close to the diffusion-controlled limit.  相似文献

Ab initio electronic structure methods are used to estimate the cross sections for electron transfer from donor anions having electron binding energies ranging from 0.001 to 0.6 eV to each of three sites in a model disulfide-linked molecular cation. The three sites are (1) the S-S sigma(*) orbital to which electron attachment is rendered exothermic by Coulomb stabilization from the nearby positive site, (2) the ground Rydberg orbital of the -NH(3)(+) site, and (3) excited Rydberg orbitals of the same -NH(3)(+) site. It is found that attachment to the ground Rydberg orbital has a somewhat higher cross section than attachment to either the sigma orbital or the excited Rydberg orbital. However, it is through attachment either to the sigma(*) orbital or to certain excited Rydberg orbitals that cleavage of the S-S bond is most likely to occur. Attachment to the sigma(*) orbital causes prompt cleavage because the sigma energy surface is repulsive (except at very long range). Attachment to the ground or excited Rydberg state causes the S-S bond to rupture only once a through-bond electron transfer from the Rydberg orbital to the S-S sigma(*) orbital takes place. For the ground Rydberg state, this transfer requires surmounting an approximately 0.4 eV barrier that renders the S-S bond cleavage rate slow. However, for the excited Rydberg state, the intramolecular electron transfer has a much smaller barrier and is prompt.  相似文献

The synthesis and photophysics of a new Re(I)-carbonyl diimine complex, Re(PNI-phen)(CO)(3)Cl, where the PNI-phen is N-(1,10-phenanthroline)-4-(1-piperidinyl)naphthalene-1,8-dicarboximide is reported. The metal-to-ligand charge transfer (MLCT) emission lifetime was increased approximately 3000-fold at room temperature with respect to that of the model complex [Re(phen)(CO)(3)Cl] as a result of thermal equilibrium between the emissive (3)MLCT state and a long-lived triplet ligand-centered ((3)LC) state on the PNI chromophore. This represents the longest excited state lifetime (τ = 651 μs) that has ever been observed for a Re(I)-based CT photoluminescence at room temperature. The energy transfer processes and the associated rate constants leading to the establishment of the excited state equilibrium were elucidated by a powerful combination of three techniques (transient visible and infrared (IR) absorption and photoluminescence), each applied from ultrafast to the micro/milliseconds time scale. The MLCT excited state was monitored by transient IR using CO vibrations through time intervals where the corresponding signals obtained in conventional visible transient absorption were completely obscured by overlap with strong transients originating from the pendant PNI chromophore. Following initial excitation of the (1)LC state on the PNI chromophore, energy is transferred to form the MLCT state with a time constant of 45 ps, a value confirmed in all three measurement domains within experimental error. Although transient spectroscopy confirms the production of the (3)MLCT state on ultrafast time scales, Fo?rster resonance energy transfer calculations using the spectral properties of the two chromophores support initial singlet transfer from (1)PNI* to produce the (1)MLCT state by the agreement with the experimentally observed energy transfer time constant and efficiency. Intersystem crossing from the (1)MLCT to the (3)MLCT excited state is believed to be extremely fast and was not resolved with the current experiments. Finally, triplet energy was transferred from the (3)MLCT to the PNI-centered (3)LC state in less than 15 ns, ultimately achieving equilibrium between the two excited states. Subsequent relaxation to the ground state occurred via emission resulting from thermal population of the (3)MLCT state with a resultant lifetime of 651 μs. The title chromophore represents an interesting example of "ping-pong" energy transfer wherein photon excitation first migrates away from the initially prepared (1)PNI* excited state and then ultimately returns to this moiety as a long-lived excited triplet which disposes of its energy by equilibrating with the photoluminescent Re(I) MLCT excited state.  相似文献

The energy transfer between Kr atoms and highly vibrationally excited, rotationally cold phenanthrene and diphenylacetylene in the triplet state was investigated using crossed-beam/time-of-flight mass spectrometer/time-sliced velocity map ion imaging techniques. Compared to the energy transfer between naphthalene and Kr, energy transfer between phenanthrene and Kr shows a larger cross-section for vibrational to translational (V → T) energy transfer, a smaller cross-section for translational to vibrational and rotational (T → VR) energy transfer, and more energy transferred from vibration to translation. These differences are further enlarged in the comparison between naphthalene and diphenylacetylene. In addition, less complex formation and significant increases in the large V → T energy transfer probabilities, termed supercollisions in diphenylacetylene and Kr collisions were observed. The differences in the energy transfer between these highly vibrationally excited molecules are attributed to the low-frequency vibrational modes, especially those vibrations with rotation-like wide-angle motions.  相似文献
