A facile and cost-effective method to prepare poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)/graphene oxide (GO) nanocomposites was developed by in situ polymerization. By using thermal-initiated and GO-initiated polymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA), no extra radical initiator was added during the reaction. Without any pre-functionalization of GO, PMMA chains were covalently bonded to its surface, which was confirmed by Fourier-transform infrared, atomic force microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy investigations. TGA analysis showed that the mass ratio of grafted PMMA and GO was as high as 1.7. Transmission electron microscopy and X-ray powder diffraction investigations demonstrated that the grafting of PMMA chains to GO surfaces resulted in homogeneous dispersion of GO sheets in PMMA matrix, which led to a commendable performance on its mechanical and thermal properties. Dynamic mechanical analysis showed that, at a loading level of just 0.5 wt% for the nanocomposites, the storage modulus of the nanocomposites was improved 14%, and the glass transition temperature was increased 12°C in comparison with that of neat PMMA. Thermogravimetric analysis showed that the onset degradation temperature of the nanocomposites was increased 13°C with a GO content of 0.25 wt%.  相似文献

Summary: Graft copolymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) was carried out on bagasse fibers in an aqueous medium using ceric ammonium nitrate (CAN) as initiator under a neutral atmosphere. In order to obtain the optimum condition for graft copolymerization, the effects of initiator concentration, temperature, time of reaction, and monomer concentration were studied. The maximum grafting percent was found to be 122%. The bagasse grafted poly(methyl methacrylate) was characterized by FTIR and its thermal behavior was characterized by TGA.  相似文献

Summary: Polystyrene nanosize particles have been synthesized by a differential microemulsion polymerization process involving the use of a small amount of poly(methyl methacrylate) as the seeds. Sodium dodecyl sulfate and ammonium persulfate were used as the surfactant and initiator, respectively. The effects of various reaction conditions on the particle size have been investigated. Particle sizes of less than 20 nm have been achieved at milder conditions than those previously reported in the literature.

Poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT) supramolecular structures are fabricated on P3HT‐dispersed reduced graphene oxide (RGO) monolayers and surfactant‐free RGO monolayers. P3HT is able to disperse RGO in hot anisole/N,N‐dimethylformamide solvents, and forms nanowires on RGO surfaces through a RGO induced crystallization process. The TEM and AFM investigation of the resultant P3HT/RGO composites shows that P3HT nanowires grow from RGO, and connect individual RGO monolayers. Raman spectroscopy confirms the interaction between P3HT and RGO, which allows the manipulation of the RGO electrical properties. Such a bottom‐up approach provides interesting graphene‐based composites for nanometer‐scale electronics.

采用电子转移再生催化剂原子转移自由基聚合(ARGET ATRP)制备了端羟基聚丙烯酸丁酯-b-聚甲基丙烯酸甲酯嵌段共聚物(HO-PBA-b-PMMA),在此基础上,与六亚甲基二异氰酸酯三聚体(N3390)反应,合成了多臂聚丙烯酸丁酯-b-聚甲基丙烯酸甲酯嵌段共聚物.通过凝胶渗透色谱(GPC)、核磁共振仪(1H-NMR)、傅里叶变换红外光谱计(FTIR)对聚合物的结构进行了表征,利用原子力显微镜(AFM)观察了其形貌,采用动态热机械分析仪(DMA)和万能拉伸机研究了聚合物的热性能、力学性能及多臂嵌段共聚物对PMMA的增韧性能.结果表明:成功制备了端羟基聚丙烯酸丁酯-b-聚甲基丙烯酸甲酯,以及多臂聚丙烯酸丁酯-b-聚甲基丙烯酸甲酯嵌段共聚物.在异氰酸酯基/羟基(NCO/OH)摩尔比为1.2/1时,制得的多臂嵌段共聚物相对分子质量最大,Mark-Houwink参数α值最小,表明此时三臂嵌段共聚物最多.多臂嵌段聚合物的拉伸强度和断裂伸长率比线型聚合物均有明显提高,且在NCO/OH摩尔比为1.2/1时达到最大,分别为7.6 MPa和73%.多臂嵌段聚合物具有更高的玻璃化转变温度(Tg).通过原子力显微镜(AFM)表明,多臂聚丙烯酸丁酯-b-聚甲基丙烯酸甲酯嵌段共聚物形成了以聚丙烯酸丁酯链段为核,聚甲基丙烯酸甲酯为壳的核壳结构.具有核壳结构的多臂聚丙烯酸丁酯-b-聚甲基丙烯酸甲酯嵌段共聚物对聚甲基丙烯酸甲酯有明显的增韧作用.  相似文献

采用在甲基丙烯酸甲酯(MMA)悬浮聚合过程中滴加甲基丙烯酸-2-羟乙酯(HEMA)乳液聚合组分的悬浮-乳液耦合聚合方法,制备了大粒径聚甲基丙烯酸甲酯/聚甲基丙烯酸-2-羟乙酯(PMMA/PHEMA)复合微球。PMMA/PHEMA复合微球表面以HEMA乳液聚合物为主,且具有微孔结构。PMMA/PHEMA复合微球在水和苄醇中的平衡溶胀率大于PMMA微球。PMMA/PHEMA复合微球48h异丁苯丙酸负载百分比为35.6%,PMMA为27.6%。在磷酸盐缓冲液中释放时间达到360h,释放量占负载总量的82%;而PMMA微球的释放时间为216h,释放量仅占负载总量的60%。  相似文献

采用原位种子乳液聚合法合成了聚甲基丙烯酸甲酯 氯化银(PMMA AgCl)核壳结构复合纳米微球,通过透射电镜(TEM),红外光谱(IR),热分析(TG DTA)和X射线粉末衍射(XRD)等测试手段对其结构及性能进行了表征.在四球试验机上对其摩擦学行为进行了考察,研究结果表明,PMMA AgCl核壳结构复合纳米微球用作润滑油添加剂具有良好的抗磨性能,能显著提高基础油的失效负荷.  相似文献

Nickel oxide (NiO) has emerged as one of the most promising transition-metal oxides (TMOs) for electrochemical capacitors, batteries, catalysis, and electrochromic films, owing to its cost-effectiveness, abundance, and well-defined electrochemical properties. Recent studies have identified that mixing NiO with graphene or graphene derivatives results in novel composites with synergistic effects and superior electrochemical performance. This review summarizes the latest advances in composites of NiO with graphene or graphene derivatives. The synthetic strategies, morphologies, and electrochemical performance of these composites are introduced, as well as their electrochemical applications in supercapacitors, batteries, sensors, catalysis, and so forth. Finally, tentative conclusions and assessments regarding the opportunities and challenges for the future development of these composites and other TMOs/graphene or graphene-derived composites are presented.  相似文献

A diblock copolymer, poly(methyl methacrylate)-b-polystyrene (PMMA-b-PS), was grafted onto the surface of nano-titania (nano-TiO2) successfully via reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization. The surface of TiO2 nanoparticles was modified initially by attaching dithioester groups to the surface using silane coupling agent 3-(chloropropyl)triethoxy silane and sodium ethyl xanthate. The polymerization of methyl methacrylate and styrene were then initiated and propagated on the TiO2 surface by RAFT polymerization. The resulting composite nanoparticles were characterized by means of XPS, FT-IR, 1H NMR and TGA. The results confirmed the successful grafting of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and diblock copolymer chains onto the surface of TiO2. The amount of PMMA grafted onto the TiO2 surface increased with the polymerization time. Moreover, the kinetic studies revealed that the ln([M]0/[M]), where [M]0 is the initial and [M] is the time dependent monomer concentrations, increased linearly with the polymerization time, indicating the living characteristics of the RAFT polymerization.  相似文献

Using highly soluble bromo‐functionalized reduced graphene oxide (RGBr) as a key graphene template for surface‐directing Sonogashira–Hagihara polymerization, a novel soluble poly(arylene‐ethynylene)‐grafted reduced graphene oxide, hereafter abbreviated as PAE‐g‐RGO, was prepared in situ. The entirely different electron distribution of LUMO and HOMO of PAE‐g‐RGO suggested the existence of a charge‐transfer (CT) state (PAE.?–RGO.+). The negative ΔGCS value (?2.57 eV) indicates that the occurrence of the charge separation via 1RGO* in o‐DCB is exothermic and favorable. Upon irradiation with 365 nm light, the light‐induced electron paramagnetic resonance (LEPR) spectrum of PAE‐g‐RGO showed a decrease in the spin‐state density owing to photoinduced intramolecular electron transfer events in this system. A sandwich‐type Al/PAE‐g‐RGO/ITO device showed representative bistable electrical switching behavior. The nonvolatile memory performance was attributed to the CT‐induced conductance changes, which was supported by molecular computation results and conductive atomic force microscopy (C‐AFM) images.  相似文献

Composites of a polyindole (PIN) and poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc) were prepared chemically using FeCl3 as an oxidant agent in anhydrous media. The composite compositions were altered by varying the indole monomer during preparation. The composites were characterized by FTIR and UV‐visible spectroscopies, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), stress‐strain experiments and conductivity measurements. Moreover, the film of PVAc and PIN/PVAc composites were prepared by casting on glass Petri dishes to examine their stress‐strain properties. PIN/PVAc composites are thermally more stable than PIN. It was found that the conductivities of PIN/PVAc composites depend on the indole content in the composites.  相似文献

One of the applications of graphene in which its scalable production is of utmost importance is the development of polymer composites. Among the techniques used to produce graphene flakes, the liquid-phase exfoliation (LPE) of graphite stands out due to its versatility and scalability. However, solvents suitable for the LPE process are generally toxic and have a high boiling point, making the processing challenging. The use of low boiling point solvents could be convenient for the processing, due to the easiness of their removal. In this study, the use of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) as a stabilizing agent is proposed for the production of graphene flakes in a low boiling point solvent, that is, acetone. The graphene dispersions produced in the mixture acetone-PMMA have higher concentration, +175 %, and contain a higher percentage of few-layer graphene flakes (<5 layers), that is, +60 %, compared to the dispersions prepared in acetone. The as-produced graphene dispersions are used to develop graphene/acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene composites. The mechanical properties of the pristine polymer are improved, that is, +22 % in the Young's modulus, by adding 0.01 wt. % of graphene flakes. Moreover, a decrease of ≈20 % in the oxygen permeability is obtained by using 0.1 wt. % of graphene flakes filler, compared to the unloaded matrix.  相似文献

A particle size of less than 20 nm in diameter has been achieved with surfactant/monomer and surfactant/water weight ratios of 1:18 and 1:120, i.e. much milder conditions than those previously reported in the literature.

"An in situ polymerization process was used to prepare poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)-functionalized carboxyl multi-walled carbon nanotubes using carboxylate carbon nanotubes and methyl methacrylate as reactants and benzoyl peroxide as an initiator agent. The functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes were characterized using transmission electron microscope, scanning electron microscope, nuclear magnetic resonance, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and Raman. The results indicate that the PMMA chains are covalently linked with the surface of carboxylate carbon nanotubes. The surface morphology is controlled by the content of carboxylate carbon nanotubes in the reactants. The PMMA functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes are soluble in deuterated chloroform. Poly(L-lactic acid)(PLLA)-based composites exhibit wide applications in many fields.However,most of hydrophilic fillers usually accelerate the hydrolytic degradation of PLLA,which is unfavorable for the prolonging of the service life of the articles.In this work,a small quantity of poly(methyl methacrylate)(PMMA)(2 wt%-10 wt%)was incorporated into the PLLA/carbon nanotubes(CNTs)composites.The effects of PMMA content on the dispersion of CNTs as well as the microstructure and hydrolytic degradation behaviors of the composites were systematically investigated.The results showed that PMMA promoted the dispersion of CNTs in the composites.Amorphous PLLA was obtained in all the composites.Largely enhanced hydrolytic degradation resistance was achieved by incorporating PMMA,especially at relatively high PMMA content.Incorporating 10 wt%PMMA led to a dramatic decrease in the hydrolytic degradation rate from 0.19%/h of the PLLA/CNT composite sample to 0.059%/h of the PLLA/PMMA-10/CNT composite sample.The microstructure evolution of the composites was also detected,and the results showed that no crystallization occurred in the PLLA matrix.Further results based on the interfacial tension calculation showed that the enhanced hydrolytic degradation resistance of the PLLA matrix was mainly attributed to the relatively strong interfacial affinity between PMMA and CNTs,which prevented the occurrence of hydrolytic degradation at the interface between PLLA and CNTs.This work provides an alternative method for tailoring the hydrolytic degradation ability of the PLLA-based composites.  相似文献
