We construct and study the implications of some new non-local conserved currents that exist is a wide variety of massive integrable quantum field theories in 2 dimensions, including the sine-Gordon theory and its generalization to affine Toda theory. These non-local currents provide a non-perturbative formulation of the theories. The symmetry algebras correspond to the quantum affine Kac-Moody algebras. TheS-matrices are completely characterized by these symmetries. FormalS-matrices for the imaginary-coupling affine Toda theories are thereby derived. The application of theseS-matrices to perturbed coset conformal field theory is studied. Non-local charges generating the finite dimensional Quantum Group in the Liouville theory are briefly presented. The formalism based on non-local charges we describe provides an algernative to the quantum inverse scattering method for solving integrable quantum field theories in 2d.  相似文献

Local conserved charges in principal chiral models in 1+1 dimensions are investigated. There is a classically conserved local charge for each totally symmetric invariant tensor of the underlying group. These local charges are shown to be in involution with the non-local Yangian charges. The Poisson bracket algebra of the local charges is then studied. For each classical algebra, an infinite set of local charges with spins equal to the exponents modulo the Coxeter number is constructed, and it is shown that these commute with one another. Brief comments are made on the evidence for, and implications of, survival of these charges in the quantum theory.  相似文献

We study systematically the general properties of theB-extension of any integrable model and its properties as Hamiltonian structures etc. We clarify the origin of “exotic” changes in such models. We show that in such models there exist at least two sets of non-local conserved charges and that the “exotic” charges are part of this non-local charge hierarchy. We define non-local conserved currents in massive current algebras in two dimensions. Our approach is algebraic and non-perturbative. The non-local currents give a quantum field realization of the Yangians. We show how the noncocommutativity of the Yangians is related to the non-locality of the currents. We discuss the implications of the existence of non-local conserved charges on theS-matrices.Laboratoire de la Direction des sciences de la matière du Commissariat à l'énergie atomique  相似文献

Two series of SU(N) invariant non-linear σ models are constructed using exceptional orbits of the adjoint representation of SU(N). Each of these models possesses infinitely many local as well as non-local conserved charges.  相似文献

We consider the realization of affine ADE Lie algebras as string junctions on mutually non-local 7-branes in Type 1113 string theory. The existence of the affine algebra is signaled by the presence of the imaginary root junction δ, which is realized as a string encircling the 7-brane configuration. The level k of an affine representation partially constrains the asymptotic (p, q) charges of string junctions departing the configuration. The junction intersection form reproduces the full affine inner product, plus terms in the asymptotic charges.  相似文献

We investigate the algebras of the non-local charges and their generating functionals (the monodromy matrices) in classical and quantum non-linear models. In the case of the classical chiral models it turns out that there exists no definition of the Poisson bracket of two monodromy matrices satisfying antisymmetry and the Jacobi identity. Thus, the classical non-local charges do not generate a Lie algebra. In the case of the quantum O(N) non-linear model, we explicitly determine the conserved quantum monodromy operator from a factorization principle together withP,T, and O(N) invariance. We give closed expressions for its matrix elements between asymptotic states in terms of the known two-particleS-matrix. The quantumR-matrix of the model is found. The quantum non-local charges obey a quadratic Lie algebra governed by a Yang-Baxter equation.Laboratoire associé au CNRS No. LA 280  相似文献

We analyze the dual symmetry which is reponsible for the existence of infinitely many conserved non-local charges in the classical two-dimensional non-linear σ models. For compact global symmetry groups, we prove that the σ model has the dual symmetry if and only if the field takes values in a symmetric space.  相似文献

We discuss the one loop renormalization of the reparametrization invariant non-local conserved charges of the Nambu-Goto string theory. In addition we show the stability of a special well-known state under the corresponding infinitesimal symmetry transformations — at least in the WKB-approximation.Work supported by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft  相似文献

We formulate a new approach to the quantum field theory of electric and magnetic charges. Its advantages relative to existing formulations are that (a) it is a one-potential lagrangian one, (b) it has a canonical structure and (c) it representys a natural generalization of Dirac's quantum mechanical theory to field theory. Our formulation is non-local in coordinate space, but yields Feynman rules that are local in momentum space.  相似文献

Quantum Yangian symmetry in several sigma models with supergroup or supercoset as target is established. Starting with a two-dimensional conformal field theory that has current symmetry of a Lie superalgebra with vanishing Killing form we construct non-local charges and compute their properties. Yangian axioms are satisfied, except that the Serre relations only hold for a subsector of the space of fields. Yangian symmetry implies that correlation functions of fields in this sector satisfy Ward identities. We then show that this symmetry is preserved by certain perturbations of the conformal field theory.  相似文献

A non-local field theory that breaks discrete symmetries, including C, P, CP, and CPT, but preserves Lorentz symmetry, is presented. We demonstrate that at one-loop level the masses for particle and antiparticle remain equal due to Lorentz symmetry only. An inequality of masses implies breaking of the Lorentz invariance and non-conservation of the usually conserved charges.  相似文献

We obtain the exact classical algebra obeyed by the conserved non-local charges in bosonic non-linear sigma models. Part of the computation is specialized for a symmetry groupO(N). As it turns out the algebra corresponds to a cubic deformation of the Kac-Moody algebra. We generalize the results for the presence of a Wess-Zumino term. The algebra is very similar to the previous one, now containing a calculable correction of order one unit lower. The relation with Yangians and the role of the results in the context of Lie-Poisson algebras are also discussed.Supported by FAPESP.Supported by CNPq.Supported by CNPq  相似文献

We consider the sine-Gordon and affine Toda field theories on the half-line with classically integrable boundary conditions, and show that in the quantum theory a remnant survives of the bulk quantized affine algebra symmetry generated by non-local charges. The paper also develops a general framework for obtaining solutions of the reflection equation by solving an intertwining property for representations of certain coideal subalgebras of U q (ĝ). The anomalous dynamic scaling behavior of the d+1 dimensional non-local growth equations is investigated based on the scaling approach. The growth equations studied include the non-local Kardar-Parisi-Zhang (NKPZ), non-local Sun-Guo-Grant (NSGG), and non-local Lai-Das Sarma-Villain (NLDV) equations. The anomalous scaling exponents in both the weak- and strong-coupling regions are obtained, respectively. Our results show that non-local interactions can affect anomalous scaling properties of surface fluctuations.  相似文献

Electric fields in non-local media with power-law spatial dispersion are discussed. Equations involving a fractional Laplacian in the Riesz form that describe the electric fields in such non-local media are studied. The generalizations of Coulomb’s law and Debye’s screening for power-law non-local media are characterized. We consider simple models with anomalous behavior of plasma-like media with power-law spatial dispersions. The suggested fractional differential models for these plasma-like media are discussed to describe non-local properties of power-law type.  相似文献

In this article I investigate several possibilities to define the concept of “temporal non-locality” within the standard framework of quantum theory. In particular, I analyze the notions of “temporally non-local states”, “temporally non-local events” and “temporally non-local observables”. The idea of temporally non-local events is already inherent in the standard formalism of quantum mechanics, and Basil Hiley recently defined an operator in order to measure the degree of such a temporal non-locality. The concept of temporally non-local states enters as soon as “clock-representing states” are introduced in the context of special and general relativity. It is discussed in which way temporally non-local measurements may find an interesting application for experiments which test temporal versions of Bell inequalities.  相似文献

Non-local electron transport in laser-produced plasmas under inertial confinement fusion (ICF) conditions is studied based on Fokker-Planck (FP) and hydrodynamic simulations. A comparison between the classical Spitzer--H\"arm (SH) transport model and non-local transport models has been made. The result shows that among those non-local models the Epperlein and Short (ES) model of heat flux is in reasonable agreement with the FP simulation in overdense region. However, the non-local models are invalid in the hot underdense plasmas. Hydrodynamic simulation is performed with the flux limiting model and the non-local model, separately. The simulation results show that in the underdense region of the laser-produced plasmas the temperature given by the flux limiting model is significantly higher than that given with the non-local model.  相似文献

We consider a large class of two-dimensional integrable quantum field theories with non-abelian internal symmetry and classical scale invariance. We present a general procedure to determine explicitly the conserved quantum monodromy operator generating infinitely many non-local charges. The main features of our method are a factorization principle and the use of P, T, and internal symmetries. The monodromy operator is shown to satisfy a Yang-Baxter algebra, the structure constants (i.e. the quantum R-matrix) of which are determined by two-particle S-matrix of the theory. We apply the method to the chiral SU(N) and the O(2N) Gross-Neveu models.  相似文献

Recently it was established that the one-loop planar dilatation generator of super-Yang–Mills theory may be identified, in some restricted cases, with the Hamiltonians of various integrable quantum spin chains. In particular Minahan and Zarembo established that the restriction to scalar operators leads to an integrable vector chain, while recent work in QCD suggested that restricting to twist operators, containing mostly covariant derivatives, yields certain integrable Heisenberg XXX chains with non-compact spin symmetry . Here we unify and generalize these insights and argue that the complete one-loop planar dilatation generator of is described by an integrable super spin chain. We also write down various forms of the associated Bethe ansatz equations, whose solutions are in one-to-one correspondence with the complete set of all one-loop planar anomalous dimensions in the gauge theory. We finally speculate on the non-perturbative extension of these integrable structures, which appears to involve non-local deformations of the conserved charges.  相似文献
