We have investigated the structural and magnetic properties of the doped XM12 and charged M13 (X = Na, Mg, Al, Si, P; M = Sc, Y) clusters using the density‐functional theory with spin‐polarized generalized gradient approximation. It was found that doped atoms can induce significant change of the magnetic moments of Sc13 and Y13 clusters. The total magnetic moments of the NaM12, MgM12, AlM12, SiM12, and PM12 clusters are regular 5, 6 (12), 7, 8, and 9 μb, respectively (but 19 μb for Sc13 and Y13, 12 μb for Y, 18 μb for Sc, Sc, and Y). The doped atom substituting the surface atom of the plausible icosahedral configuration is viewed as the ground‐state structure of the XM12 (X = Na, P; M = Sc, Y) and MgSc12 clusters. While for XM12 (X = Al, Si; M = Sc, Y) and MgY12 clusters, the doped atom occupying the central position of the icosahedral configuration is viewed as the ground‐state structure. The doping and the charging both enhance the stability of the Sc13 and Y13 clusters. These findings should have an important impact on the design of the adjustable magnetic moments systems. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J Quantum Chem, 2010  相似文献

The new ternary rhodium borides Mg3Rh5B2 and Sc3Rh5B2 (P4/mbm, Z = 2; a = 943.4(1) pm, c = 292.2(1) pm and a = 943.2(1) pm, c = 308.7(1) pm, respectively) crystallize with the Ti3Co5B2 type structure. Mg and Sc may in part be substituted by a variety of elements M. For M = Si and Fe, homogeneity ranges were found according to A3–xMxRh5B2 with 0 ≤ x ≤ 1.0 for A = Sc and with x up to 1.5 for A = Mg. Quaternary compounds with x = 1 (A2MRh5B2: A/M in short) were prepared with M = Be, Al, Si, P, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ga, Ge, As, Sn (Co, Ni only with A = Mg; Sn only with A = Sc; P, As with deficiencies). Single crystal X‐ray investigations show an ordered substitutional variant of the Ti3Co5B2 type in which the M atoms are arranged in chains along [001] with intrachain and interchain M–M distances of about 300 pm and 660 pm, respectively. Measuring the magnetisation (1.7 K–800 K) of the phases Mg/Mn, Sc/Mn, Mg/Fe, and Sc/Fe reveals antiferromagnetic interactions in the first and dominating ferromagnetic intrachain interactions in the remaining ones. Interchain interactions of antiferromagnetic nature are evident in Sc/Mn and Mg/Fe leading to metamagnetism below TN = 130 K, while Sc/Fe behaves ferromagnetically below TC = 450 K. The overall trend towards stronger ferromagnetic interactions with increasing valence electron concentration is obvious.  相似文献

Fullerenes containing metal atoms and clusters can be formed by the arc-vaporization method. The electronic structure of these metallofullerenes can be probed using magnetic resonance techniques. Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectra of LaC82, YC82, ScC82 and Sc3C82 have been obtained. Metallofullerenes containing a single metal atom (MC82 with M = La, Y, or Sc), have small hyperfine couplings and g-values close to 2, implying that they can be described as + 3 metal cations within — 3 fullerene radical anion cages. In the La and Y cases, additional EPR active MC82 species have been found. The EPR spectrum of Sc3C82 shows that the metal atoms are equivalent, suggesting that they may form a triangular molecule. No EPR spectrum is found for Y2C82 or for Sc2C2n species (with 2n = 82,84,86), suggesting that they are diamagnetic. Sc NMR spectra of a solution containing Sc2C2n species have been obtained which confirm the diamagnetism of the discandium metallofullerenes.  相似文献

MgAuGa (magnesium gold gallium), the first ternary representative of the Mg–Au–Ga system, crystallizes in the space group P2m and adopts the Fe2P structure type (Pearson symbol hP9). Various phases with the general composition AB2 have been reported in the surrounding binary systems, viz. Mg2Ga (hP18), MgGa2 (hP6; CaIn2 type), AuGa2 (cF12; CaF2 type), Au2Ga (oS24; Pd2As type) and Mg2Au (oP12; Co2Si type). In principle, MgAuGa can be obtained from each of them by partial replacement of the major element with the missing element. In fact, the structure of MgAuGa closely resembles hexagonal Mg2Ga through a direct group–subgroup relationship. MgAu2Ga (magnesium digold gallium) also crystallizes hexagonally in the space group P63/mmc and is isotypic with Na3As. It adopts the structure of another binary compound, viz. Mg3Au (hP8), but shows an unexpected distribution of Mg, Au, and Ga among the atomic positions of the asymmetric unit. Both MgAuGa and MgAu2Ga can be described as formally anionic Au/Ga frameworks, with pseudo‐hexagonal tunnels around Mg in MgAuGa or cages in MgAu2Ga.  相似文献

Metal–cage and intracluster bonding was studied in detail by quantum theory of atoms in molecules (QTAIM) for the four major classes of endohedral metallofullerenes (EMFs), including monometallofullerenes Ca@C72, La@C72, M@C82 (M=Ca, Sc, Y, La), dimetallofullerenes Sc2@C76, Y2@C82, Y2@C79N, La2@C78, La2@C80, metal nitride clusterfullerenes Sc3N@C2n (2n=68, 70, 78, 80), Y3N@C2n (2n=78, 80, 82, 84, 86, 88), La3N@C2n (2n=88, 92, 96), metal carbide clusterfullerenes Sc2C2@C68, Sc2C2@C82, Sc2C2@C84, Ti2C2@C78, Y2C2@C82, Sc3C2@C80, as well as Sc3CH@C80 and Sc4Ox@C80 (x=2, 3), that is, 42 EMF molecules and ions in total. Analysis of the delocalization indices and bond critical point (BCP) indicators such as Gbcp/ρbcp, Hbcp/ρbcp, and |Vbcp|/Gbcp, revealed that all types of bonding in EMFs exhibit a high degree of covalency, and the ionic model is reasonable only for the Ca‐based EMFs. Metal–metal bonds with negative values of the electron‐density Laplacian were found in Y2@C82, Y2@C79N, Sc4O2@C80, and anionic forms of La2@C80. A delocalized nature of the metal–cage bonding results in a topological instability of the electron density in EMFs with an unpredictable number of metal–cage bond paths and large elipticity values.  相似文献

The interactions of Sc3+ and Y3+ ions with disodium 1,2-dihydroxybenzene-3,5-disulfonate (Na2H2L, where H2L2- = Tiron) were investigated in aqueous solution by means of potentiometric and spectroscopic methods. The coordination of Tiron to Sc3+ and Y3+ takes place through two phenolic oxygen atoms of catecholate ion in different stoichiometries. Thus, the binding of Tiron to Sc3+ occurs either in 1 : 1 or 1 : 2 molar ratios; they have resulted by the formation of [ScL]- and [ScL2]5- type complexes, respectively. On the other hand, Y3+ ion behaves like Th4+ and Ln3+ ions toward Tiron. It forms [YL]-type complex in 1 : 1 molar ratio; but in 1 : 2 or in higher molar ratios, only unique [Y2L3]6- type complex formation takes place. The formation constants of [ScL]-, [ScL2]5-, [YL]-, and [Y2L3]6- complexes were determined by analysis of the potentiometric data in ionic medium of 0.1 M KNO3 or NaClO4 at 25°C. The hydrolytic reactions of Sc(III) and Y(III) complexes with Tiron were determined from potentiometric data and the formation constants of [ScL(OH)]2- and [YL(OH)]2- were also calculated. From Koordinatsionnaya Khimiya, Vol. 31, No. 1, 2005, pp. 62–68.Original English Text Copyright © 2005 by Aydin, Türkel, Özer.  相似文献

The structure of diyttrium digermanate, Y2Ge2O7, has been determined in the tetragonal space group P43212. It contains one Y, one Ge (both site symmetry 1 on general position 8b) and four O atoms [one on special position 4a (site symmetry ..2) and the remaining three on general positions 8b]. The basic units of the structure are isolated Ge2O7 groups, sharing one common O atom and displaying a Ge—O—Ge angle of 134.9 (3)°, and infinite helical chains of pentagonal YO7 dipyramids, parallel to the 43 screw axis. The crystal investigated here represents the left‐handed form of the tetragonal R2Ge2O7 compounds (R = Eu3+, Tb3+, Er3+, Tm3+ and Lu3+).  相似文献

The ternary germanide Mg5.57Ni16Ge7.43 (cubic, space group Fmm, cF116) belongs to the structural family based on the Th6Mn23-type. The Ge1 and Ge2 atoms fully occupy the 4a (mm symmetry) and 24d (m.mm) sites, respectively. The Ni1 and Ni2 atoms both fully occupy two 32f sites (.3m symmetry). The Mg/Ge statistical mixture occupies the 24e site with 4m.m symmetry. The structure of the title compound contains a three-core-shell cluster. At (0,0,0), there is a Ge1 atom which is surrounded by eight Ni atoms at the vertices of a cube and consequently six Mg atoms at the vertices of an octahedron. These surrounded eight Ni and six Mg atoms form a [Ge1Ni8(Mg/Ge)6] rhombic dodecahedron with a coordination number of 14. The [GeNi8(Mg/Ge)6] rhombic dodecahedron is encapsulated within the [Ni24] rhombicuboctahedron, which is again encapsulated within an [Ni32(Mg/Ge)24] pentacontatetrahedron; thus, the three-core-shell cluster [GeNi8(Mg/Ge)6@Ni24@Ni32(Mg/Ge)24] results. The pentacontatetrahedron is a new representative of Pavlyuk's polyhedra group based on pentagonal, tetragonal and trigonal faces. The dominance of the metallic type of bonding between atoms in the Mg5.57Ni16Ge7.43 structure is confirmed by the results of the electronic structure calculations. The hydrogen sorption capacity of this intermetallic at 570 K reaches 0.70 wt% H2.  相似文献

The formation of endohedral metallofullerenes (EMFs) in an electric arc is reported for the mixed‐metal Sc–Ti system utilizing methane as a reactive gas. Comparison of these results with those from the Sc/CH4 and Ti/CH4 systems as well as syntheses without methane revealed a strong mutual influence of all key components on the product distribution. Whereas a methane atmosphere alone suppresses the formation of empty cage fullerenes, the Ti/CH4 system forms mainly empty cage fullerenes. In contrast, the main fullerene products in the Sc/CH4 system are Sc4C2@C80 (the most abundant EMF from this synthesis), Sc3C2@C80, isomers of Sc2C2@C82, and the family Sc2C2 n (2 n=74, 76, 82, 86, 90, etc.), as well as Sc3CH@C80. The Sc–Ti/CH4 system produces the mixed‐metal Sc2TiC@C2 n (2 n=68, 78, 80) and Sc2TiC2@C2 n (2 n=80) clusterfullerene families. The molecular structures of the new, transition‐metal‐containing endohedral fullerenes, Sc2TiC@Ih‐C80, Sc2TiC@D5h‐C80, and Sc2TiC2@Ih‐C80, were characterized by NMR spectroscopy. The structure of Sc2TiC@Ih‐C80 was also determined by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction, which demonstrated the presence of a short Ti=C double bond. Both Sc2TiC‐ and Sc2TiC2‐containing clusterfullerenes have Ti‐localized LUMOs. Encapsulation of the redox‐active Ti ion inside the fullerene cage enables analysis of the cluster–cage strain in the endohedral fullerenes through electrochemical measurements.  相似文献

The crystal structure of Sc2Ru5B4 has been determined by single-crystal X-ray analysis. Sc2Ru5B4 crystallizes in the primitive monoclinic space group P2m with a = 9.983(6), b = 8.486(4), c = 3.0001(3)Å, γ = 90.01(7)°, Z = 2. Deviations from the orthorhombic space group Pbam-D92h are small but significant. Intensity measurements were obtained from a four-circle diffractometer. The structure was solved by Patterson methods and refined by full matrix least-squares calculation. R = ∑|ΔF|∑|F0| = 0.036 for an asymmetric set of 863 independent reflections (|F0|>2σ(F0)). The crystal structure is characterized by two different types of boron atoms: (a) isolated borons B(1) and B(3) in distorted trigonal Ru-prisms with tetrakaidekahedral metal coordination: 6Ru + 3Sc, and (b) boron atoms B(2) and B(4) with a pronounced tendency to form boron pairs (B(2)-B(2) = 1.86 Å, B(4)-B(4) = 1.89 Å); the metal coordination of these boron atoms is 6Ru + 2Sc. Sc atoms have a coordination number of 17 consisting of 10Ru + 2Sc + 5B. The crystal structure of Sc2Ru5B4 is a pentagon layer structure (Ru, B atoms) with a 4.3.4.32-secondary layer of Sc atoms. The structure is furthermore related to the structure types of Ti3Co5B2 and CeCo3B2. From powder photographs Sc2Os5B4 is isotypic. No superconductivity was observed for Sc2(Ru, Os)5B4 down to 1.5 K.  相似文献

We report on the discovery and detailed exploration of the unconventional photo-switching mechanism in metallofullerenes, in which the energy of the photon absorbed by the carbon cage π-system is transformed to mechanical motion of the endohedral cluster accompanied by accumulation of spin density on the metal atoms. Comprehensive photophysical and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) studies augmented by theoretical modelling are performed to address the phenomenon of the light-induced photo-switching and triplet state spin dynamics in a series of YxSc3−xN@C80 (x = 0–3) nitride clusterfullerenes. Variable temperature and time-resolved photoluminescence studies revealed a strong dependence of their photophysical properties on the number of Sc atoms in the cluster. All molecules in the series exhibit temperature-dependent luminescence assigned to the near-infrared thermally-activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) and phosphorescence. The emission wavelengths and Stokes shift increase systematically with the number of Sc atoms in the endohedral cluster, whereas the triplet state lifetime and S1–T1 gap decrease in this row. For Sc3N@C80, we also applied photoelectron spectroscopy to obtain the triplet state energy as well as the electron affinity. Spin distribution and dynamics in the triplet states are then studied by light-induced pulsed EPR and ENDOR spectroscopies. The spin–lattice relaxation times and triplet state lifetimes are determined from the temporal evolution of the electron spin echo after the laser pulse. Well resolved ENDOR spectra of triplets with a rich structure caused by the hyperfine and quadrupolar interactions with 14N, 45Sc, and 89Y nuclear spins are obtained. The systematic increase of the metal contribution to the triplet spin density from Y3N to Sc3N found in the ENDOR study points to a substantial fullerene-to-metal charge transfer in the excited state. These experimental results are rationalized with the help of ground-state and time-dependent DFT calculations, which revealed a substantial variation of the endohedral cluster position in the photoexcited states driven by the predisposition of Sc atoms to maximize their spin population.

Photoexcitation mechanism of YxSc3−xN@C80 metallofullerenes is studied by variable-temperature photoluminescence, advanced EPR techniques, and DFT calculations, revealing photoinduced rotation of the endohedral cluster.  相似文献

A new representative of rare‐earth metal(III) fluoride oxoselenates(IV) derivatized with alkali metals could be synthesized via solid‐state reactions. Colorless single crystals of CsSc3F6[SeO3]2 were obtained through the reaction of Sc2O3, ScF3, and SeO2 (molar ratio 1:1:3) with CsBr as reactant and fluxing agent. For this purpose, corundum crucibles embedded as liners into evacuated silica ampoules were applied as containers for these reactions at 700 °C for seven days. The new quintenary compound crystallizes in the trigonal space group P3m1 with a = 565.34(4) and c = 1069.87(8) pm (c/a = 1.892) for Z = 1. The crystal structure of CsSc3F6[SeO3]2 contains two crystallographically different Sc3+ cations. Each (Sc1)3+ is surrounded by six fluoride anions as octahedron, while the octahedra about (Sc2)3+ are formed by three fluoride anions and three oxygen atoms from three terminal [SeO3]2– anions. The [(Sc1)F6]3– octahedra link via common F vertices to six fac‐[(Sc2)F3O3]6– octahedra forming 2{[Sc3F6O6]9–} layers parallel to (001). These layers are separated by oxygen‐coordinated Cs+ cations (C.N. = 12), arranging for the charge compensation, while Se4+ cations within the layers surrounded by three oxygen atoms as ψ1‐tetrahedral [SeO3]2– units complete the structure. EDX measurements confirmed the composition of the title compound and single‐crystal Raman studies showed the typical vibrational modes of isolated [SeO3]2– anions with ideal C3v symmetry.  相似文献

Monoisotopic scandium yttrium oxyorthosilicate crystals as a material for quantum memory storage with high optical quality were grown by the Czochralski method. This material, of composition Sc1.368Y0.632SiO5, is characterized by congruent melting and a melting point 60 K below the temperature for the ideal solid‐solution series Y2SiO5–Sc2SiO5. The structure of the crystals was refined on the basis of high‐quality single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction data. Sc1.368Y0.632SiO5 belongs to B‐type RE2SiO5 (space group C2/c). Scandium and yttrium cations are distributed among two 8f sites with coordination numbers 7 and 6 for which the occupancy parameters ratios Sc:Y and average bond lengths are, respectively, 0.473:0.527 and RE1—O = 2.305 (2) Å, and 0.895:0.105 and RE2—O = 2.143 (2) Å. It is shown that the character of the occupancy of the positions of the cations with coordination numbers (CN) 6 and 7 for these solid solutions can be approximated by a polynomial dependence, the magnitude of the coefficients of which depends on the difference in the ionic radii of the cations. A preliminary electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) study shows that activator ions with a large ionic radius at a concentration less than 0.1% occupy a position with CN = 7.  相似文献

A new form of Y2Si2O7 (diyttrium heptaoxodisilicate) has been synthesized which is isotypic with thortveitite, Sc2Si2O7, and crystallizes in the centrosymmetric space group C2/m, both at 100 and 280 K. The Y3+ cation occupies a distorted octahedral site, with Y—O bond lengths in the range 2.239 (2)–2.309 (2) Å. The SiO4 tetrahedron is remarkably regular, with Si—O bond lengths in the range 1.619 (2)–1.630 (2) Å. The bridging O atom of the Si2O7 pyrosilicate group shows a large anisotropic displacement perpendicular to the Si—O bond. Changes in lattice and structural parameters upon cooling are small with, however, a distinct decrease of the anisotropic displacement of the briding O atom. Structure solution and refinement in the non‐centrosymmetric space group C2 are possible but do not yield a significantly different structure model. The Si—O—Si bond angle of the isolated Si2O7 groups is 179.2 (1)° at 280 K in C2 and 180° per symmetry in C2/m. The C2/m structure model is favoured.  相似文献

Reaction of the Grignard reagent with polydentate nitrogen‐donor ligands yields new species with rare magnesium coordination and possible catalytic activity. In the first of the title compounds, poly[[μ4‐dihydrobis(pyrazol‐1‐yl)borato‐κ2N,N′]potassium(I)], [K(C6H8BN4)]n, (I), polymeric chains form a two‐dimensional network in the [100] plane. Each potassium ion is coordinated by four N atoms of pyrazolyl ligands, while weak (μ‐BH)...K+ interactions additionally stabilize the structure. The K and B atoms both lie on a mirror plane. In three new structures obtained by disproportionation of the Grignard reagent, each Mg atom is bound to a κ2N,N′‐type ligand, forming the basal plane, and tetrahydrofuran molecules occupy the axial positions. Di‐μ‐chlorido‐bis[dihydridobis(pyrazol‐1‐yl)borato]tris(tetrahydrofuran)dimagnesium(II), [Mg2(C6H8BN4)2Cl2(C4H8O)3], (II), adopts a dimeric structure with μ‐Cl—Mg interactions. One of the Mg atoms has an octahedral coordination, while the other has a distorted square‐pyramidal environment. However, in the bis‐chelate compounds bis[dihydridobis(pyrazol‐1‐yl)borato‐κ2N,N′](tetrahydrofuran‐κO)magnesium(II), [Mg(C6H8BN4)2(C4H8O)], (III), and bis[dihydridobis(pyrazol‐1‐yl)borato‐κ2N,N′]bis(tetrahydrofuran‐κO)magnesium(II), [Mg(C6H8BN4)2(C4H8O)2], (IV), the Mg atoms have square‐pyramidal and octahedral environments, respectively. The Mg atom in (IV) lies on an inversion centre.  相似文献

The metal‐rich silicide Sc4Pt7Si2 was synthesized by arc‐melting. Sc4Pt7Si2 crystallizes with its own structure type, space group Pbam. The structure was refined from single‐crystal X‐ray diffractometer data: a = 647.6(1), b = 1617.1(3), c = 398.96(9) pm, wR2 = 0.0495, 807 F2 values and 42 variables. Sc4Pt7Si2 is an intergrowth structure of slightly distorted ScPtSi (TiNiSi type) and ScPt (CsCl type) related slabs. The silicon atoms have the typical coordination number 9 (4 Sc + 5 Pt) in the form of a tricapped trigonal prism. Together, the platinum and silicon atoms build up a complex three‐dimensional [Pt7Si2] network with short Pt–Si (238–246 pm) and Pt–Pt (282–303 pm) distances. The scandium atoms fill distorted square prismatic or pentagonal prismatic voids within this network, also with short Sc–Pt distances (276–308 pm). The structural difference of these two scandium species is reflected by substantial discrepancies in 45Sc chemical shifts. The quadrupolar interaction parameters that were estimated from the nutation behavior of the two signals were used for an assignment to the two sites.  相似文献

Lithium yttrium orthosilicate oxyapatite [lithium nonayttrium hexakis(silicate) dioxide], LiY9(SiO4)6O2, crystallizes in the centrosymmetric space group P63/m at both 295 and 100 K. The structure closely resembles those of fluorine apatite and sodium yttrium orthosilicate oxyapatite [sodium nonayttrium hexakis(silicate) dioxide], NaY9(SiO4)6O2, which was also investigated, at 270 and 100 K, in this study. There are two different crystallographic sites for the Y3+ ion, which are coordinated by seven and nine O atoms. One‐fourth of the nine‐coordinated site is occupied by Li or Na atoms, thus maintaining charge balance. The Si atom occupies a tetrahedral site. The two compounds show no symmetry change between room temperature and 100 K, and the alterations in structural parameters are small.  相似文献

The first crystallographically characterizable complex of Sc2+, [Sc(NR2)3] (R=SiMe3), has been obtained by LnA3/M reactions (Ln=rare earth metal; A=anionic ligand; M=alkali metal) involving reduction of Sc(NR2)3 with K in the presence of 2.2.2‐cryptand (crypt) and 18‐crown‐6 (18‐c‐6) and with Cs in the presence of crypt. Dark maroon [K(crypt)]+, [K(18‐c‐6)]+, and [Cs(crypt)]+ salts of the [Sc(NR2)3] anion are formed, respectively. The formation of this oxidation state of Sc is also indicated by the eight‐line EPR spectra arising from the I =7/2 45Sc nucleus. Metal phosphides have triggered growing interest for their exotic structures and striking properties. Hence, within advanced structure search and first-principle calculations, several unprecedented Y−P compounds (e. g., Y3P, Y2P, Y3P2, Y2P3, YP2, and YP3) were identified under compression. Interestingly, as phosphorus content increases, P atoms exhibit diverse behaviors corresponding to standalone anion, dumbbell, zigzag chain, planar sheet, crossing chain-like network, buckled layer, three-dimensional framework, and wrinkled layer. Particularly, Fd-3m YP2 can be viewed as assemblage of diamond-like Y structure and rare vertex-sharing tetrahedral P4 units. Impressively, electron-phonon coupling (EPC) calculations elucidate that Pm-3m Y3P possesses the highest superconducting critical temperature Tc of 10.2 K among binary transition metal phosphides. Remarkably, the EPC of Pm-3m Y3P mainly arises from the contribution of low-frequency soft phonon modes, whereas mid-frequency phonon modes of Fd-3m YP2 dominate. These results strengthen knowledge of metal phosphides and pave a way for seeking superconductive transition metal phosphides.  相似文献
