In this paper, we consider the sequence of balancing and Lucas balancing numbers. The balancing numbers \({B_n}\) are given by the recurrence \({B_n = 6 B_{n-1} - B_{n-2}}\) with initial conditions \({B_0 = 0, B_1 = 1}\) and its associated Lucas balancing numbers \({C_n}\) are given by the recurrence \({C_n = 6 C_{n-1} - C_{n-2}}\) with initial conditions \({C_0 = 1, C_1 = 3}\). First we find the perfect powers in the sequence of balancing and Lucas balancing numbers. We also identify those Lucas balancing numbers which are products of a power of 3 and a perfect power. Using this property of Lucas balancing numbers, we solve a conjecture regarding the non-existence of positive integral solution (x, y) for the Diophantine equation \({2x^2 + 1 = 3^b y^m}\) for any even positive integers b and m with \({m > 2}\), given in (Int J Number Theory 11:1259–1274, 2015). Also we prove that the Diophantine equations \({B_n B_{n+d}\ldots B_{n+(k-1)d} = y^m}\) and \({C_n C_{n+d}\ldots C_{n+(k-1)d} = y^m}\) have no solution for any positive integers n, d, k, y, and m with \({m \geq 2, y \geq 2}\) and gcd\({(n,d) = 1}\).  相似文献

Finite quasi semimetrics on n can be thought of as nonnegative valuations on the edges of a complete directed graph on n vertices satisfying all possible triangle inequalities. They comprise a polyhedral cone whose symmetry groups were studied for small n by Deza, Dutour and Panteleeva. We show that the symmetry and combinatorial symmetry groups are as they conjectured.Integral quasi semimetrics have a special place in the theory of tiled orders, being known as exponent matrices, and can be viewed as monoids under componentwise maximum; we provide a novel derivation of the automorphism group of that monoid. Some of these results follow from more general consideration of polyhedral cones that are closed under componentwise maximum.  相似文献

We consider the Lucas sequences (U n ) n ≥ 0 defined by U 0 = 0, U 1 = 1, and U n PU n–1QU n–2 for non-zero integral parameters P, Q such that Δ = P 2 – 4Q is not a square. We use the arithmetic of the quadratic order with discriminant Δ to investigate the zeros and the period length of the sequence (U n ) n ≥ 0 modulo a positive integer d coprime to Q. For a prime p not dividing Q, we give precise formulas for p-powers, we determine the p-adic value of U n , and we connect the results with class number relations for quadratic orders.  相似文献

We present a solution of the problem of construction of a normal diagonal form for quadratic forms over a local principal ideal ring R = 2R with a QF-scheme of order 2. We give a combinatorial representation for the number of classes of projective congruence quadrics of the projective space over R with nilpotent maximal ideal. For the projective planes, the enumeration of quadrics up to projective equivalence is given; we also consider the projective planes over rings with nonprincipal maximal ideal. We consider the normal form of quadratic forms over the field of p-adic numbers. The corresponding QF-schemes have order 4 or 8. Some open problems for QF-schemes are mentioned. We present an existence theorem for a nonlinear quadratic integral equations of fractional orders, arising in the queuing theory and biology, in the Banach space of real functions defined and continuous on a bounded and closed interval. The zeta function of a lattice over an order in a semisimpleQ-algebra introduced by L Solomon, is a generalization of Dedekind zeta function and has an Euler product in terms of local zeta functions. In this paper, the local zeta functions of localized orders in quadratic fields and hence the global ones are computed first by using Solomon's combinatorial method. Next the same formulae are obtained by considering orders in algebras (overp-adic fields) obtained by completing quadratic fields. In the complete case, the methods of integration initiated by Bushnell and Reiner to study Solomon's zeta functions are used.  相似文献

A dual algorithm is developed for solving a general class of nonlinear programs that properly contains all convex quadratic programs with quadratic constraints and lp-constrained lp-approximation problems. The general dual program to be solved has essentially linear constraints but the objective function is nondifferentiable when certain variables equal zero. Modifications to the reduced gradient method for linearly constrained problems are presented that overcome the numerical difficulties associated with the nondifferentiable objective function. These modifications permit ‘blocks’ of variables to move to and away from zero on certain iterations even though the objective function is nondifferentiable at points having a block of variables equal to zero.  相似文献

A special decomposition (called the near standard form) of (1,2)-matrices over a ring is introduced and a method for a reduction of such matrices is explained. This can be applied for a detection of elementary second order matrices among invertible second order matrices. In this paper we extend a reduced form model for the valuation of employee share options (ESOs) to incorporate employee departure, and company takeover. We also allow for performance linked vesting and other exotic features specific to ESOs. We clarify the assumptions underlying the reduced form model, and discuss their implications. We analyze the probabilistic structure of the model which includes an explicit characterization of the set of equivalent martingale measures, as well as the computation of the variance optimal martingale measure and the minimal martingale measure. Moreover, we deduce an additive decomposition of the relative entropy. Particular ESO specifications are studied emphasizing different aspects of the proposed framework. In this context, we also provide strict no-arbitrage bounds for ESO prices by applying optimal stopping. Furthermore, possible limitations of the proposed model are explored by examining departures from the crucial assumptions of no-arbitrage, i.e. by considering the effects of the employee having inside information.  相似文献
