A new heterocyclic compound N-(5-benzoyl-2-oxo-4-phenyl-2H-pyrimidin-1-yl)-oxalamic acid has been synthesized from N-amino pyrimidine-2-one and oxalylchloride. Bis-chelate complexes of the ligand were prepared from acetate/chloride salts of Cu(II), Co(II), Mn(II), Ni(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), and Pd(II) in methanol. The structures of the ligand and its metal complexes were characterized by microanalyses, IR, AAS, NMR, API-ES, UV-Vis spectroscopy, magnetic susceptibility, and thermogravimetric analyses. An octahedral geometry has been suggested for all the complexes, except for Pd(II) complex, in which the metal center is square planar. Each ligand binds using C(2)=O, HN, and carboxylate. The cyclic voltammograms of the ligand and the complexes are also discussed. The new synthesized compounds were evaluated for antimicrobial activities against Gram-positive, Gram-negative bacteria and fungi using the microdilution procedure. The Cu(II) complex displayed selective and effective antibacterial activity against one Gram-positive spore-forming bacterium (Bacillus cereus ATCC 7064), two Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 and S. aureus ATCC 25923) at 40–80 µg mL?1, but poor activity against Candida species. The Cu(II) complex might be a new antibacterial agent against Gram-positive bacteria.  相似文献

Novel series of nonionic Schiff bases was synthesized and characterized using microelemental analysis, FTIR and (1)H NMR spectra. These Schiff bases and their complexes with Cu and Fe have been evaluated for their antibacterial activity against bacterial species such as Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aureus, Candida albi, Bacillus subtilis and Escherichia coli and their fungicidal activity against Aspcrgillus niger and Aspcrgillus flavus. The results of the biocidal activities showed high potent action of the synthesized Schiff bases towards both bacteria and fungi. Furthermore, complexation of these Schiff bases by Cu(II) and Fe(III) show the metal complexes to be more antibacterial and antifungal than the Schiff bases. The results were correlated to the surface activity and the transition metal type. The mode of action of these complexes was discussed.  相似文献

Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Pd(II) and Ru(III) complexes of Schiff bases derived from the condensation of sulfaguanidine with 2,4‐dihydroxy benzaldehyde ( HL1 ), 2‐hydroxy‐1‐naphthaldehyde ( HL2 ) and salicylaldehyde ( HL3 ) have been synthesized. The structures of the prepared metal complexes were proposed based on elemental analysis, molar conductance, thermal analysis (TGA, DSC and DTG), magnetic susceptibility measurements and spectroscopic techniques (IR, UV‐Vis, and ESR). In all complexes, the ligand bonds to the metal ion through the azomethine nitrogen and α‐hydroxy oxygen atoms. The structures of Pd(II) complex 8 and Ru(III) complex 9 were found to be polynuclear. Two kinds of stereochemical geometries; distorted tetrahedral and distorted square pyramidal, have been realized for the Cu(II) complexes based on the results of UV‐Vis, magnetic susceptibility and ESR spectra whereas octahedral geometry was predicted for Co(II), Mn(II) and Ru(III) complexes. Ni(II) complexes were predicted to be square planar and tetrahedral and Pd(II) complexes were found to be square planar. The antimicrobial activity of the ligands and their metal complexes was also investigated against the gram‐positive bacteria Staphylococcus aures and Bacillus subtilis and gram‐negative bacteria, Escherichia coli and Pesudomonas aeruginosa, by using the agar dilution method. Chloramphenicol was used as standard compound. The obtained data revealed that the metal complexes are more or less, active than the parent ligand and standard. The X‐ray crystal structure of HL3 has been also reported.  相似文献

The Schiff base hydrazone ligand HL was prepared by the condensation reaction of 7-chloro-4-quinoline with o-hydroxyacetophenone. The ligand behaves either as monobasic bidentate or dibasic tridentate and contain ONN coordination sites. This was accounted for be the presence in the ligand of a phenolic azomethine and imine groups. It reacts with Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), Mn(II), UO(2) (VI) and Fe(II) to form either mono- or binuclear complexes. The ligand and its metal complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, IR, NMR, Mass, and UV-Visible spectra. The magnetic moments and electrical conductance of the complexes were also determined. The Co(II), Ni(II) and UO(2) (VI) complexes are mononuclear and coordinated to NO sites of two ligand molecules. The Cu(II) complex has a square-planar geometry distorted towards tetrahedral, the Ni(II) complex is octahedral while the UO(2) (VI) complex has its favoured heptacoordination. The Co(II), Mn(II) complexes and also other Ni(II) and Fe(III) complexes, which were obtained in the presence of Li(OH) as deprotonating agent, are binuclear and coordinated via the NNNO sites of two ligand molecules. All the binuclear complexes have octahedral geometries and their magnetic moments are quite low compared to the calculated value for two metal ions complexes and thus antiferromagnetic interactions between the two adjacent metal ions. The ligand HL and metal complexes were tested against a strain of Gram +ve bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus), Gram -ve bacteria (Escherichia coli), and fungi (Candida albicans). The tested compounds exhibited high antibacterial activities.  相似文献

A new series of complexes of 2-hydroxy-3,5-dimethyl acetophenone oxime (HDMAOX) with Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Pd(II) have been prepared and characterized by different physical techniques. Infrared spectra of the complexes indicate deprotonation and coordination of the phenolic OH. It also confirms that nitrogen atom of the oximino group contributes to the complexation. Electronic spectra and magnetic susceptibility measurements reveal square planar geometry for Cu(II), Ni(II) and Pd(II) complexes and tetrahedral geometry for Co(II) complex. The elemental analyses and mass spectral data have justified the ML(2) composition of complexes. Kinetic and thermodynamic parameters were computed from the thermal decomposition data using Coats and Redfern method. The geometry of the metal complexes has been optimized with the help of molecular modeling. The free ligand (HDMAOX) and its metal complexes have been tested in vitro against Alternarie alternate, Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus nidulans and Aspergillus niger fungi and Streptococcus, Staph, Staphylococcus and Escherchia coli bacteria in order to assess their antimicrobial potential. The results indicate that the ligand and its metal complexes possess antimicrobial properties.  相似文献

A new hydrazone ligand, HL, was prepared by the reaction of 7-chloro-4-hydrazinoquinoline with o-hydroxybenzaldehyde. The ligand behaves as monoprotic bidentate. This was accounted for as the ligand contains a phenolic group and its hydrogen atom is reluctant to be replaced by a metal ion. The ligand reacted with Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), Fe(III), and UO2(II) ions to yield mononuclear complexes. In the case of Fe(III) ion two complexes, mono- and binuclear complexes, were obtained in the absence and presence of LiOH, respectively. Also, mixed ligand complexes were obtained from the reaction of the metal cations Cu(II), Ni(II) and Fe(III) with the ligand (HL) and 8-hydroxyquinoline (8-OHqu) in the presence of LiOH, in the molar ratio 1:1:1:1. It is clear that 8-OHqu behaves as monoprotic bidentate ligand in such mixed ligand complexes. The ligand, HL, and its metal complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, IR, UV-vis, mass, and 1H NMR spectra, as well as magnetic moment, conductance measurements, and thermal analyses. All complexes have octahedral configurations except Cu(II) complex which has an extra square-planar geometry, while Ni(II) mixed complex has also formed a tetrahedral configuration and UO2(II) complex which formed a favorable pentagonal biprymidial geometry. Magnetic moment of the binuclear Fe(III) complex is quite low compared to calculated value for two iron ions complex and thus shows antiferromagnetic interactions between the two adjacent ferric ions. The HL and metal complexes were tested against one stain Gram positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus), Gram negative bacteria (Escherichia coli), and fungi (Candida albicans). The tested compounds exhibited higher antibacterial acivities.  相似文献

Complexes of Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Pd(II) and Pt(II) were synthesized with the macrocyclic ligand, i.e., 2,3,9,10-tetraketo-1,4,8,11-tetraazacycoletradecane. The ligand was prepared by the [2 + 2] condensation of diethyloxalate and 1,3-diamino propane and characterized by elemental analysis, mass, IR and 1H NMR spectral studies. All the complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility measurements, IR, electronic and electron paramagnetic resonance spectral studies. The molar conductance measurements of Mn(II), Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes in DMF correspond to non electrolyte nature, whereas Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes are 1:2 electrolyte. On the basis of spectral studies an octahedral geometry has been assigned for Mn(II), Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes, whereas square planar geometry assigned for Pd(II) and Pt(II). In vitro the ligand and its metal complexes were evaluated against plant pathogenic fungi (Fusarium odum, Aspergillus niger and Rhizoctonia bataticola) and some compounds found to be more active as commercially available fungicide like Chlorothalonil.  相似文献

New Pd(II), Pt(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), and Hg(II) complexes were synthesized from the reaction of 4-phenyl-5-selenocyanatothiazol-2-amine (PhSeCNH) with metal chlorides. The produced compounds were characterized by various spectroscopic techniques. The Material Studio program was used to propose the best fit atomic skeletons for the isolated solid compounds by applying density functional theory. Quantum chemical parameters were determined from such modeling. Also, the synthesized complexes were screened for their cytotoxicity in breast adenocarcinoma (MCF-7) and human cervical (HeLa) cell lines. Furthermore, the bactericidal activity of the investigated compounds was also evaluated against Staphylococcus aureus as a Gram-positive bacteria as well as Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli as Gram-negative bacteria.  相似文献

Complexes of sulfamethoxydiazine with Cu(II), Zn(II), Ni(II), Cd(II), Cr(III) and Fe(III) have been synthesized and characterized on the basis of conductivity measurements, elemental analyses, UV, IR, 1H?NMR and thermal studies. It is shown that sulfamethoxydiazine behaves as a bidentate ligand, binding the metal ion through the sulfonyl oxygen and sulfonamide nitrogen. In vitro susceptibility tests of these complexes against Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, Proteus vulgaris and Staphylococcus aureus were carried out. The results show that the antibacterial activities of the complexes of Zn(II), Cu(II), Cr(III) and Fe(III) are, in general, stronger than that of sulfamethoxydiazine, while the complexes of Cd(II) and Ni(II) are less active.  相似文献

Complexes of Pt(II), Pd(II), and Ni(II) with the condensation derivative of 2-(diphenylphosphino)benzaldehyde and semioxamazide were synthesized, characterized, and their antimicrobial activity was evaluated. The ligand and the complexes were characterized by spectroscopic methods with the particular accent on NMR spectral analysis. For the palladium(II) complex, the crystal structure was determined by X-ray analysis. In all the complexes the ligand is coordinated as a tridentate via a P, N, O donor set. The Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes have a square planar geometry, whereas the geometry of the Ni(II) complex is tetrahedral. The ligand showed antibacterial and antifungal activity, which was enhanced upon complexation.  相似文献

Novel metal complexes of the second-generation quinolone antibacterial agent enrofloxacin with copper(II) and neutral bidentate ligands have been prepared and characterized with elemental analysis reflectance, IR and mass spectroscopy. Complexes have been screened for their in-vitro antibacterial activity against two Gram(+ve) Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, and three Gram((-ve)) Serratia marcescens, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa organisms using the double dilution technique. The binding of this complex with CT-DNA has been investigated by absorption titration, salt effect and viscosity measurements. Binding constant is ranging from 1.3×10(4)-3.7×10(4). The cleavage ability of complexes has been assessed by gel electrophoresis using pUC19 DNA. The catalytic activity of the copper(II) complexes towards the superoxide anion (O2.-) dismutation was assayed by their ability to inhibit the reduction of nitroblue tetrazolium (NBT).  相似文献

The synthesis, characterization and diuretic activity of four new biologically active complexes of Mg(II) and VO(II) with bidentate Schiff base ligand acetazolamide–salicylaldimine (L) obtained from the inserted condensation of 5-acetamido-1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-sulphonamide (acetazolamide) with salicylaldehyde in a 1:1 molar ratio have been reported. Using this bidentate ligand complexes of Mg(II), Mn(II), Fe(II) and VO(II) with general formula ML2 have been synthesized. The synthesized complexes were characterized by several techniques using elemental analysis, FT-IR, electronic spectra, TGA, mass, particle size analysis and molar conductance measurements. The elemental analysis data suggest the stoichiometry to be 1:2 [M:L]. The molar conductance measurements suggest non-electrolytic nature of the complexes. Infrared spectral data agreed with the coordination to the central metal ion through deprotonated phenolic oxygen and azomethine nitrogen atoms. On the basis of spectral studies, octahedral geometry is suggested for Mg(II), Mn(II), Fe(II) and square pyramidal geometry is suggested for VO(II) complexes. The pure drug, synthesized ligand and metal(II) complexes were screened for their antimicrobial activities against Eschericia coli, Bacillus subtilis, Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus flavous. The results show that the metal complexes were more active than the ligand and pure drug against these microbial species as expected. The ligand and its Mg(II) complexes was screened for their diuretic activity also.  相似文献

3‐3′‐Benzylidenebis[4‐hydroxycoumarin] or 4‐nitro,3‐3′‐benzylidenebis[4‐hydroxycoumarin] or 4‐methoxy,3‐3′‐benzylidenebis[4‐hydroxycoumarin] and their complexes with Cu(II), Fe(II) and Fe(III) were synthesized and characterized using 1H‐NMR, 13C‐NMR, IR spectra, electronic spectra, magnetic measurements and elemental analyses. The ligands, metal salts, complexes, control and standard drug were tested for their in‐vitro antibacterial activity against Bacillus cereus, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, Salmonella typhi, and Serratia marcescens. The metal complexes exhibit good activity against bacterial strains compared with parental compounds and moderate compared with the standard drug (ciprofloxacin). In‐vitro DNA‐binding activity was carried out using agarose gel electrophoresis. The synthesized compounds show effective DNA‐binding activity. Copyright © 2007 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

2,4-Dinitrophynylhydrazine and two thiocyanate ions in a (M:L1:L2) 1:2:2 molar ratio was synthesized in the complexes of Co(II) and Ni(II). The prepared compounds were identified through a C.H.N.S. analysis, conductivity measurements, powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), the infrared spectrum, and a UV-visible spectrum analysis, in addition to the magnetic properties being measured. The measurements of the molar conductance implieda nonelectrolytic nature of compounds Co(II) and Ni(II). The magnetic susceptibility, as well as electronic spectra, represented all the metal complexesthroughoctahedral geometry, respectively. The PXRD patterns suggested that all the complexes were an orthorhombic system with unit cell parameters. The in-vitro biological activity of the ligand and the metal complexes were screened against the Gram-positive and negative pathogenic bacteria Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Pseudomonas, aeruginosa and Escherichia coli, as well as the fungal species of Aspergillusniger and Candida albicans. Thus, the metal complexes showeda high efficiency of antimicrobial activity compared with the ligand. Furthermore, applications of the ligand, as well as the metal complexes, were tested for in-vitro antioxidant potential in aDPPH assay. The results showed that the activity of the metal complexes with the in-vitro antioxidant was more active than that of 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine(DNPH).  相似文献

New Schiff bases have been synthesized from benzofuran-2-carbohydrazide and benzaldehyde, [BPMC] or 3,4-dimethoxybenzaldehyde, [BDMeOPMC]; complexes of the type MLX2, where M = Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II), L = BPMC or BDMeOPMC and X = Cl, have been prepared. Structures have been elucidated on the basis of elemental analysis, conductance measurements, magnetic properties, spectral studies i.e., 1H NMR, electronic, ESR and IR studies show that the Schiff bases are bidentate through the azomethine nitrogen and oxygen of the carbonyl. We propose tentative structures for all of these complexes. The antifungal and antibacterial activities of the ligands and their metal complexes have been screened against fungi Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus fumigatus and against bacteria Escherichia coli and S. aurious.  相似文献

Phenoxide bridged later first row transition metal(II) complexes have been prepared by the interaction of later 3d transition metal(II) chlorides with tetranucleating compartmental Schiff base ligand system derived from 2,6-diformyl-4-methylphenol, p-phenylenediamine and 2-hydrazinobenzothiazole. Ligand and complexes were characterized by analytical, spectral (IR, UV-visible, ESR, FAB-mass and fluorescence), magnetic and thermal studies. All complexes are found to have octahedral geometry. The mutual influence of metal centres in terms of cooperative effect on the electronic, magnetic, electrochemical and structural properties was investigated. The Schiff base and its complexes have been screened for their antibacterial (against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa) and antifungal activities (against Aspergillus niger, and Candida albicans).  相似文献

Some new complexes derived from VO(II), Ag(I) and Pd(II) metal ions and HNA imine ligand (L), i.e. (2‐((6‐allylidene‐2‐hydroxycyclohexa‐1,3‐dienylmethylene)amino)benzoic acid), have been prepared and their structures elucidated via molar conductance measurements, elemental analyses, infrared, NMR and electronic spectra and magnetic susceptibility estimations. Moreover, stability constants of the synthesized complexes were evaluated utilizing a spectrophotometric technique. On the basis of molar conductance and elemental analyses, the metal imine chelates have structure [M(L)], where M = Pd(II), VO(II) and Ag(I). The results indicate that the prepared HNA imine ligand acts as a tridentate moiety via nitrogen atom of azomethine group and two oxygen atoms of phenolic and carboxylic groups. All the complexes are found to be monomeric with 1:1 stoichiometry with square planar geometry for Pd(II), tetrahedral geometry for Ag(I) and distorted square pyramidal for VO(II). Theoretical density functional theory calculations were applied to verify the molecular geometry of the chelators and their metal chelates. The geometry optimization results are in agreement with experimental observations. The antimicrobial properties of the prepared HNA imine ligand and its metal chelates were evaluated against numerous plant pathogenic fungi and bacteria. The results of these studies indicate that the metal complexes exhibit a stronger antibacterial and antifungal effect compared to the imine ligand. In addition, the interaction of the metal imine chelates with calf thymus DNA was observed by way of viscosity, gel electrophoreses and spectral studies. Absorption titration studies reveal that each of the complexes is an avid binder to calf thymus DNA. Also, there are appreciable changes in the relative viscosity of DNA, which are consistent with enhanced hydrophobic interaction of the aromatic rings and intercalation mode of binding. Additionally, the cytotoxic activity of the investigated compounds against various cancer cell lines shows promising results which makes them prospective compounds for antibiotic and anticancer medicament studies. Furthermore, docking studies of the prepared compounds were conducted for confirming the biological results.  相似文献
