This review paper presents the results obtained during the development and study of three high-power wide-aperture CO 2 lasers (λ=10.6 μm) pumped with a discharge controlled by an electron beam. In developing these lasers, the method of formation of a space discharge at elevated pressures due to uniform ionization of the working mixture by an electron beam with an energy of some hundreds of kiloelectron-volts was used, which was proposed by researchers at the Instute of High-Current Electronics (IHCE). The spectrum of visible radiation from an inhomogeneous cesium-plasma column is evaluated in the approximation of locally thermodynamically equilibrium plasma. The plasma parameters correspond to a pulsed-periodic low-power discharge at pressures of 0.1–1.0 atm and the axial temperature T=5500 K. Under these conditions, the visible spectrum of the cesium plasma changes from discrete (line) to continuous as the pressure varies from 0.1 to 1.0 atm. This is associated largely with an increase in the intensity of the 6P and 5D recombination continua and an appreciable shift of the thresholds of the continua toward larger wavelengths (by ≈100 nm for 6P and by ≈150 nm for 5D) when the plasma density rises to ≈4×1017 cm−3. In this case, the optical thickness of the plasma column approaches unity and the average luminous flux per unit length of the arc column is close to 6500 lm/cm at the column radius R=2 mm and a duty ratio of 0.1.  相似文献

Three powerful wide-aperture CO2 lasers with the wavelength λ = 1.06 μm (a laser pumped by electron-beam-controlled discharge, a high-pressure continuously tunable laser, and a repetitively pulsed laser) are created and studied. The spectral distribution of the radiated energy of an imploded plasma formed through the collision of a super-sonic plasma jet of a pulse discharge against a stationary obstacle was studied. Its brightness temperature and absorption were measured. It is shown that the plasma can served as a source of a continuous spectrum with an energy distribution similar to that of an absolute blackbody. The brightness temperature of the source was variable over a broad range by appropriate adjustment of the discharge conditions.The authors are very grateful to M. A.  针对大型直线感应加速器单次工作的特点,研制了一种电容放电式脉冲励磁电源。该电源利用电容器的储能特性,取代常规电源的变压整流滤波部分,先对其以小电流恒流充电,然后再以大电流恒流放电来获得直线感应加速器励磁电流。对这种电源进行了理论分析和模拟计算,模拟结果与实验结果基本一致。实验结果表明:这种电源能够脉冲工作,同时输入功率大幅度降低,在输出电流500 A,持续时间0.3 s时,输入功率400 W,输出功率25 kW,电流稳定度0.2%, 谐波小, 电流纹波小,所用电容器100块左右(33 mF),经济上也可承受,是一种非常适合直线感应加速器的励磁电源。  相似文献

An extreme-ultraviolet (EUV) source based on a low-pressure discharge sustained in a magnetic trap by the high-power millimeter-wave radiation under electron-cyclotron-resonance (ECR) conditions is discussed. Multiply charged ions are efficiently generated and excited in such a discharge (tin ions injected into the trap from a vacuum-arc discharge were used) and emit line radiation in the desired wavelength range. A radiation power of 50 W in a wavelength range of 13.5 nm ± 1% and an efficiency of about 1% for the conversion of the micro-wave radiation absorbed in the plasma to the extreme ultraviolet radiation were achieved in the preliminary experiments.  相似文献

The construction of an ion source based on a low-pressure arc with a screened cathode spot is described. The source is ignited by an auxiliary glow discharge in a magnetron electrode system. Ions are extracted from the plasma of the anode part of the arc, generated in a reflective electrode system. The effect of the magnetic induction and the emitter electrode potential on the parameters of the anode plasma was investigated, and the conditions required for generation of a dense uniform plasma, ion emission from which gives beams of ions of nitrogen, argon, oxygen, other gases with cross section 100 cm2, current density 10 mA/cm2 and nonuniformity of the plasma distribution in the beam cross section 10%, were determined. The formation of wide and converging beams with ion energies up to 50 keV by multiple-aperture ion-optic systems were examined. The source operates in the periodic-pulse mode. The repetition frequency of 1-msec pulses can be regulated from 0 to 50 sec–1 giving an average beam current of up to 50 mA. It is intended for use in technologies for modification of the surface properties of materials and deposition of thin films. Surface sparks on TiO2 ceramic in Ar and Xe have been used; the intensity is greater than that of an open discharge by an order of magnitude. Under limiting conditions the discharge radiates as a blackbody at 63 000° K in Ar and at 40 000° K in Xe. Spectra and high-speed photographs of the discharge channel are presented.  相似文献

We report on the development of a cavity ring-down (CRD) spectrometer based on an incoherent broadband light source centered at 1,545 nm. One measurement spans over 46 nm. Due to the challenge of broadband CRD spectroscopy in the addressed spectral range, an extended measurement principle is developed. First successful measurements in the spectral range between 1,547 and 1,593 nm of a cavity filled with CO2 are shown. In order to compare the experimentally determined data to values of the HITRAN database, the calculation of the expected values is discussed under consideration of the spectrometer’s spectral resolution. Comparison with the data based on the HITRAN database shows good agreement.  相似文献

This work pursues investigations into the discharge with a cathode plasma in a cavity one wall of which is an insulating plate with a hole D in diameter (the cavity is 0.5 or 1.5 mm wide). This discharge is thoroughly analyzed in comparison with the high-voltage hollow-cathode discharge. Owing to the reduced emission of electrons from the cathode plasma, the discharge becomes more stable against transition to the low-voltage form, as a result of which an electron beam can be generated under higher gas pressures. Such a beam formed at the entrance to the cavity is used as an auxiliary one that propagates over the remaining (flat) surface of the cathode and adds to the gas ionization. Accordingly, the beam current from the main discharge to the anode rises (high-current regime). Wide-aperture (D = 22 mm) ≈1-μs-long pulsed beams with a current an order of magnitude higher than the total current of the equivalent anomalous discharge are obtained. Experiments are carried out at a helium pressure to 20 Torr and a voltage from 1 to 20 kV.  相似文献
