Deep inelastic weak and electromagnetic processes are considered within the parton framework taking the partons to be integrally charged quarks and coloured gluons. Despite the participation of the spin-one gluons in these processes, scaling is shown to be maintained by treating the problem in a unified gauge model based on the groupSU (3)colourSU L (2)⊗U(1). This is a consequence of the vector-dominance type of couplings between the gluons and the weak or electromagnetic vector bosons which are induced by the spontaneous breakdown of gauge symmetry. As a further consequence it is found that in the asymptotic region far above the gluon masses the colour octet parts of the weak and electromagnetic currents of the quarks are damped so that, in particular, the integrally charged quarks behave as fractionally charged quarks in this region.  相似文献

Two alternative U3(W)-gauge models are presented. Both agree with the recent Abbott-Barnett fits to the neutrino-nucleon neutral-current data, and with the SLAC measurement of the asymmetry parameter for longitudinally polarised electrondeuteron inelastic scattering. Results for are also found in agreement with the latest measurements. The models differ in the parameterQ W(Z, N) characterising parity-violation in heavy atoms for which, however, the experimental situation is still unclear.  相似文献

Without assuming any symmetry amongμ, e andτ leptons, we consider several neutral current processes involving 73 physical parameters and deduce general relations among them implied by different classes of gauge models with one, two and three neutralZ bosons. In the single-Z boson model there are 60 general relations while the two (three)-boson model leads to 48 (36) relations. If onlyμ-e universality is imposed, the physical parameters reduce to 41 and the single (two)-Z boson model yields 31 (22) relations, while only 13 relations exist for the threeZ boson model. Imposingμ-e-τ universality decreases the number of physical parameters to 18, while the number of relations in the single- and two-Z boson models reduces to 11 and 5, respectively. In these relations are contained those obtained by Hung and Sakurai and Parida and Rajasekaran in the corresponding cases. In addition we obtain some new inequalities among the observable parameters which are to be satisfied by all gauge models.  相似文献

New neutral gauge bosonsZ′ are the features of many models addressing the physics beyond the standard model. Together with the existence of new neutral gauge bosons, models based on extended gauge groups (rank > 4) often predict new charged fermions also. A mixing of the known fermions with new states, with exotic weak-isospin assignments (left-handed singlets and right-handed doublets) will induce tree-level flavour-changing neutral interactions mediated byZ exchange, while if the mixing is only with new states with ordinary weak-isospin assignments, the flavour-changing neutral currents are mainly due to the exchange of the new neutral gauge bosonZ′. We review flavour-changing neutral currents in models with extraZ′ boson. Then we discuss some flavour-changing processes forbidden in the standard model and new contributions to standard model processes.  相似文献

Ifμ-e universality is assumed, there are 17 neutral-current parameters of current experimental interest, including the parity-violating nuclear force sector. We deduce the general relations among these parameters implied by gauge models. In single-Z boson models, there are 10 relations, while two-boson models lead to 4 relations. Ifμ-e universality is abandoned, the number of parameters increases to 31, while the number of relations becomes 21 in single-boson models and 12 in two-boson models. A family of one-dimensional classical chiral spin models with groupG=U(N) orSU(N) is introduced, having complex nearest-neighbor interaction. TheseG×G invariant systems have self-adjoint positive transfer matrices and satisfy reflection positivity. In the case ofG=U(N), forN=1, 2, 3, sequences of first-order phase transitions are shown to occur.  相似文献

The recently discovered narrow peaks (theψ-particles) in e+e system at 3.105 and 3.695 GeV are interpreted as hadrons in a broken SU4 symmetry scheme. A new additional additive quantum number, parachargeZ, is combined with the usual SU3 quantum numbers in the group SU4. Theψ (3.1) is assigned to a near ideally mixed151 multiplet of vector mesons (containing theρ) as theI=Y=0, charge conjugationC=−combination ofZ=±1.members. Theψ (3.7) is assigned correspondingly to another mixed151 multiplet containing theρ′ (1600). The hadronic electromagnetic interactions are modified by the addition of (non-minimal) anomalous pieces that can changeZ. The decays of theψ-particles are discussed. New enlarged SU4 multiplets of other hadrons are proposed. Tests of our scheme are put forward. The most crucial test will be the observation of two rather broad resonances in e+ e collisions with masses around 4.2 GeV and 5.1 GeV. Another prediction is the presence of energetic photons in the decays of theψ-particles. Important results concerning the recently observed phenomena in the process e+e→hadrons follow in this scheme.  相似文献

We present a detailed analysis of the nonperturbativeβ function along the Wilson axis for theSU(3) pure gauge theory using the Monte Carlo renormalization group method. The scaling behavior of the string tension, the deconfinement transition temperature, and the O++ glueball mass obtained from published data is compared. The results show that there is no asymptotic scaling forK F=(6/g 2)<6.1. We also estimate the renormalized action generated by the √3 block transformation for use in future calculations.  相似文献

We present a stochastic cluster algorithm that drastically reduces critical slowing down forZ 2 lattice gauge theory in three dimensions. The dynamical exponentz is reduced fromz>2 (standard Metropolis algorithm) tozO.73. The Monte Carlo pseudodynamics acts on the gauge-invariant flux tubes that are known to be the relevant large-scale low-energy excitations. A comparison of our results with known results for the 3D Ising model and 4 model supports the conjecture of universality classes for stochastic cluster algorithms.  相似文献

It is shown that the proton-neutron interacting boson model (pnIBM) admits new symmetry limits withO(12) algebra which breakF spin but preserves theF z quantum numberM F. The generators ofO(12) are derived and the quantum numberU ofO(12) for a given boson numberN is determined by identifying the corresponding quasi-spin algebra. TheO(12) algebra generates two symmetry schemes and for both of them, complete classification of the basis states and typical spectra are given. With theO(12) algebra identified, complete classification of pnIBM symmetry limits with goodM F is established.  相似文献

Painlevé test (Jimboet al [1]) for integrability for the Yang’s self-dual equations forSU(2) gauge fields has been revisited. Jimboet al analysed the complex form of the equations with a rather restricted form of singularity manifold. They did not discuss exact solutions in that context. Here the analysis has been done starting from the real form of the same equations and keeping the singularity manifold completely general in nature. It has been found that the equations, in real form, pass the Painlevé test for integrability. The truncation procedure of the same analysis leads to non-trivial exact solutions obtained previously and auto-Backlund transformation between two pairs of those solutions  相似文献

Perturbed angular correlation (PAC) studies have been performed in liquid mercury, HCl media of different acid strengths, H2O and H3PO4 using a 181Hf probe. It is found that, in case of H2O, interaction between the nucleus and its excited atom following the β decay of 181Hf is a possible mechanism for the nuclear spin relaxation in this environment. In the liquid mercury and different acid media, however, the perturbations are found to arise due to molecular fluctuations.  相似文献

Two kinds of general consequences of the ΔS=0 weak hadron neutral current independent of a gauge model are presented. Firstly are results which depend on the quark parton model. These involve bounds among neutrino inclusive cross-section and a bound onQ(Z, N) in terms of these inclusive cross-sections. Secondly are results which are independent of the quark-parton model and depend only on the SU(3) structure of the most general ΔS=0 neutral current. These tests of isopin and speciallyU-spin properties of the current are given forv+Nv+hadron+anything,v+Nv+baryon+meson ande + e →baryon+anti-baryon. In addition some conjectures are made with regard to the semi-inclusive neutrino-reactions using the quark parton model.  相似文献

Homogeneous (LiCl) x (P2O5)1 − x glasses were synthesised using a melt-quenching method for x = 0.1–0.6 in the interval of 0.05. The amorphous structure of the samples was evident by the X-ray diffraction spectrum. The short range structures of the binary phosphate samples were examined by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, whilst the density of the samples was measured as supportive data for the investigations. The results of refractive indices as measured using an ellipsometer reveal the homogeneity of samples and was found to depend on the glass composition. The electrical properties of the glasses were investigated by ac impedance spectroscopy from 10 mHz to 1 MHz for temperatures ranging from room temperature to 573 K. An estimation of the bulk resistivity was obtained by taking the intercepts on the real axis at low frequencies of the complex impedance plot. The dc conductivities derived from the reciprocal of resistivity values were found to obey the Arrhenius relationship, and its activation energy shows a decreasing trend with the increase in LiCl content in the glass. Lastly, an equivalent circuits consisting of real and complex capacitors is proposed to describe the dielectric response of the glass.  相似文献

The low-lying collective bands of positive parity states in (fp) shell nuclei are described in the deformed Hartree-Fock method by projecting states of definite angular momenta from ‘the lowest energy intrinsic states in (sd)−1 (fp) n+1 configurations. The modified Kuo-Brown effective interaction for (fp) shell and modified surface delta interaction (MSDI) for a hole in (sd) shell with a particle in (fp) shell have been used. The collective bands of states are in general well reproduced by the effective interactions. The excitation energies of the band head states are however off by about one MeV. The calculated magnetic moments of the band headj=3/2+ states are in reasonable agreement with experiment. Using effective chargese p=1.33e ande n=0.64e we get fairly good agreement forE(2) transitions. The hinderedM(1) transition strengths are reproduced to the correct order however they are slightly higher compared to experiment.  相似文献

The anomalous magnetic moment of muon is calculated in anSU(3)×U(1) gauge model proposed by Gupta and Mani. We find the contribution due to the intermediate gauge bosons to be of the same order of magnitude as in Weinberg. Salam model. The deep-inelastic structure functions are also analysed in the same model and inequalities for the structure functions are obtained in the light-cone algebra approach.  相似文献

Variation-after-projection (VAP) calculations in conjunction with Hartree-Bogoliubov (HB) ansatz have been carried out for A=100−108 molybdenum (Mo) isotopes. In this framework, the yrast spectra with J max π ≥10+, B(E2) transition probabilities, quadrupole (β2) and hexadecapole (β4) deformation parameters, moment of inertia (I) and square of cranking frequency (ω2) for even-even Mo isotopes have been obtained. The results of the calculation give an indication that it is important to include the hexadecapole-hexadecapole component of the two-body interaction for obtaining various nuclear structure quantities in these Mo isotopes.  相似文献

We calculate the axial couplings gA8(0) and gA0(0) related to the spin of the nucleon in a constituent quark model. In addition to the standard one-body axial currents, the model includes two-body axial exchange currents. The latter are necessary to satisfy the Partial Conservation of Axial Current (PCAC) condition. For both axial couplings we find significant corrections to the standard quark model prediction. Exchange currents reduce the valence quark contribution to the nucleon spin and afford an interpretation of the missing nucleon spin as orbital angular momentum carried by nonvalence quark degrees of freedom.  相似文献

We have investigated the photoinduced decomposition of formaldehyde (CH2O) on a rutile TiO2(100)-(1×1) surface at 355 nm using temperature-programmed desorption. Products, formate (HCOO-), methyl radical (CH3·), ethylene (C2H4), and methanol (CH3OH) have been detected. The initial step in the decomposition of CH2O on the rutile TiO2(100)-(1×1) surface is the formation of a dioxymethylene intermediate in which the carbonyl O atom of CH2O is bound to a Ti atom at the five-fold-coordinated Ti4+ (Ti5c) site and its carbonyl C atom bound to a nearby bridge-bonded oxygen (Ob) atom, respectively. During 355 nm irradiation, the dioxymethylene intermediate can transfer an H atom to the Ob atom, thus forming HCOO- directly, which is considered as the main reaction channel. In addition, the dioxymethylene intermediate can also transfer methylene to the Ob row and break the C-O bond, thus leaving the original carbonyl O atom at the Ti5c site. After the transfer of methylene, several pathways to products are available. Thus, we have found that Ob atoms are intimately involved in the photoinduced decomposition of CH2O on the rutile TiO2(100)-(1×1) surface.  相似文献

Magnetic nanoparticles of cobalt ferrites Co x Fe3−x O4 (x = 1 or 2) have been obtained either by mechanical milling or thermal treatment of pre-prepared layered double hydroxide carbonate x-LDH–CO3. Mechanical milling of the 1-LDH–CO3 leads to the large-scale preparation of nearly spherical nanoparticles of CoFe2O4, the size of which (5 to 20 nm) is controlled by the treatment time. Core-shell structure with surface spin-canting has been considered for the nanoparticles formed to explain the observed hysteresis loop shift (from ZFC–FC) in the magnetic properties. Annealing treatment of the 2-LDH–CO3 below 673 K results in the formation of nearly spherical pure Co2FeO4 nanoparticles. At 673 K and above, the LDH decomposition leads to the formation of a mixture of both spinels phases Co2FeO4 and CoFe2O4, the amount of the latter increases with annealing temperature. Unusually high magnetic hardness characterized by a 22 kOe coercive field at 1.8 K has been observed, which reflects the high intrinsic anisotropy for Co2FeO4.  相似文献
