The γ–γ Perturbed Angular Correlation technique was used to study the hyperfine interaction of 181Ta at the Hf site(s) in UFe4Al8 at room temperature and 12 K. The data at room temperature are well described by two electric field gradients, while at low temperature two combined hyperfine interactions have to be considered, one with the magnetic hyperfine field collinear with the c-axis and another with the magnetic hyperfine field in the basal plane. The results are compared with previous Mössbauer and neutron diffraction experiments and the lattice site of Hf is discussed.

The magnetic hyperfine field of Ta in iron was measured by means of DPAC using the 5/2+ state in181Ta. At room temperature, this field was found to be |H hf(RT)|=6.08(7) T, which confirms the result of an earlier DPAC experiment. A hyperfine anomaly5/2Δ7/2=−4.6(23)% between the above state and the 7/2+ ground state of181Ta is deduced.  相似文献

The hyperfine field at 181Ta lattice sites in a nanostructured HfO2 thin film was studied by the perturbed angular correlation (PAC) technique. The thin oxide film was deposited by pulsed laser ablation on a silicon substrate kept at 673 K. The thickness was about 25 nm. The radioactive 181Hf ions were produced by neutron activation of the very thin film in the Portuguese research reactor by the reaction 180Hf(n,γ)181Hf. PAC measurements were carried out at room temperature after annealing at different temperatures up to 1,473 K in air. The PAC technique allows determining the electric field gradient at the 181Ta probe sites. The 181Ta isotopes appear in the sample as disintegration product of 181Hf.  相似文献

The temperature dependence of the magnetic and electric hyperfine interactions at the site of 181Ta impurities in polycrystalline Dy has been measured between 4.2 and 178 K using the time differential perturbed angular correlation technique. The value of the magnetic hyperfine field at 4.2 K is: |Hhf(TaDy)| = 212(9) kG The temperature dependence of the magnetic hyperfine field follows closely the prediction of the molecular field model.  相似文献

The hyperfine interactions at 181Ta ions on Fe3+ sites in α-Fe2O3 (hematite) were studied in the temperature range 11–1100 K by means of the perturbed angular correlation (PAC) technique. The 181Hf(β)181Ta probe nuclei were introduced chemically into the sample during the preparation. The hyperfine interaction measurements allow to observe the magnetic phase transition and to characterize the supertransferred hyperfine magnetic field Bhf and the electric field gradient (EFG) at the impurity sites. The angles between Bhf and the principal axes of the EFG were determined. The Morin transition was also observed. The results are compared with those of similar experiments carried out using 111Cd probe. aAlso at Comisión de Investigaciones Científicas de la Provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina.  相似文献

The electric quadrupole hyperfine interactions for 181Hf/181Ta and for 111In/111Cd probes in polycrystalline Zr3Al2 and Hf3Al2 compounds were measured in the temperature range 24–1100 K. The hyperfine quadrupole interaction parameters were determined after different doping techniques and heat treatments of the samples.181Hf/181Ta was found to substitute the Hf/Zr sites and the 111In/111Cd impurities appear to substitute both the 8(j) Al sites and the three nonequivalent Hf/Zr sites.  相似文献

The hyperfine critical coefficients β and δ on dilute 181Ta nuclei in a nickel matrix have been measured using the time differential perturbed angular correlation technique. We find: β = 0.0417 ± 0.010, δ = 4.1 ± 0.3. They are somewhat different from the values deduced from the bulk magnetization measurements on pure nickel.  相似文献

By studying the perturbed angular correlations of γ-rays emitted during the decay of 181Hf impurities in the Laves phases of PrFe2, DyFe2, and YbFe2, we have investigated the magnetic hyperfine interaction between these compounds and its daughter nucleus 181Ta, and have determined the temperature dependence of the magnetic hyperfine fields. At room temperature we obtained the following values of these magnetic hyperfine fields B hf:B hf(PrFe2)=7.6(1) T, B hf(DyFe2)=15.5(5) T, and B hf(YbFe2)=18.8(3) T. When taken together with data obtained previously, the results of our experiments show that for Ta nuclei in the RFe2 Laves phases the values of B hf depend strongly on whether R is a light or a heavy rare-earth element, which allows us to conclude that in these phases the value of the magnetic moment induced at the impurity Ta nuclei depends on the interatomic distance. The hyperfine interaction experienced by 181Ta nuclei in the intermetallic compounds ZrNi5, HfNi5, and Hf2Ni7 has been investigated by perturbed angular correlation (PAC) spectroscopy. At temperatures T≥15 K the 181Ta angular correlation of appropriately annealed ZrNi5 and HfNi5 is unperturbed, indicating the absence of a magnetic hyperfine interaction. This observation rules out the possibility of spontaneous magnetic order of ZrNi5 and HfNi5 recently proposed in the literature. The temperature dependence of the electric quadrupole interaction of 181Ta in Hf2Ni7 suggests the existence of a reversible phase transformation at T≥500 K.  相似文献

The hyperfine interaction of 181Ta diluted in chromium has been measured as a function of temperature by time-differential perturbed angular correlations. A quadrupole interaction which varies dramatically with temperature is present, superposing with a magnetic interaction below the Néel temperature.  相似文献

Hyperfine interactions were studied in the intermetallic compound GdRh2Si2 by perturbed angular correlation (PAC) technique using 181Hf(181Ta) probe nuclei. The measurements were performed in the temperature range 15–285 K. The PAC spectra above the antiferromagnetic ordering temperature of the GdRh2Si2 compound (T N ~ 106 K), were analyzed using a model that included only electric quadrupole interactions. The observed major fraction was assigned to the 181Hf(181Ta) probe substituting the Gd atoms. The PAC spectra below Néel temperature were analyzed using combined electric quadrupole and magnetic dipole interactions. The Bhf value at Gd, measured at 15 K was found to be 1.4(1) T which, is smaller, when compared with the values obtained in this compound using other nuclear probes, 155Gd (Bhf ~ 30 T) and 140Ce (Bhf ~ 26 T). The present result using 181Hf(181Ta) probe is quite interesting since it shows that the contribution to Bhf at Gd due the host is smaller than other components which contribute to the hyperfine field. The temperature dependence of Bhf shows an anomalous behavior.  相似文献

Ar-ion sputtering is successfully used to produce intense atomic beams of refractory elements. The population in the ground and low metastable states of Ta 1 is investigated for the sputtered atoms. Isotope shifts and hyperfine structures of seven transitions have been measured for the stable isotopes of Hf, Ta and W. The hyperfine coupling constantsA andB are determined for eight atomic levels of177,179Hf,181Ta and183W.  相似文献

The quadrupole interaction (QI) in hexagonal close packed zinc lattice was measured using the 482 keV, 10.6 ns probe state of181Ta employing the time-differential perturbed angular correlation technique. The electric field gradient (EFG) at181Ta in Zn was derived from the measured quadrupole interaction frequency at room temperature asV zz =12.202×1017 V/cm2. The quadrupole interaction measured at various temperatures displayed normal temperature dependence similar to that seen by this probe in many non-cubic hosts.  相似文献

Results of TDPAC studies of hyperfine interaction in high temperature superconducting ceramics are reported. The γ-ray cascade of 329–487 keV in140Ce excited in the decay of140La in La2-xSrxCuO4 samples (x=0 and 0.15), and 133–482 keV cascade in181Ta excited in the decay of181Hf in YBa2Cu3O7-δ samples were used. The procedure of introducing radioactive181Hf into the ceramics is described and indirect evidence for the occupation of Cu sites by the181Hf-181Ta probe is presented.  相似文献

The radioactivity181Hf was implanted into pure Co and Fe hosts with the help of an isotope separator. The ferromagnetic hosts produce very strong magnetic hyperfine interactions at the nuclear site of Ta atoms. These hyperfine interactions were studied by time-differential measurements of the 133 keV conversion electron — 482 keV γ angular correlation. It is found that in both hosts an appreciable fraction of Hf atoms occupies regular lattice sites after the implantation. Using the knowng-factor of the 482 keV state of181Ta the magnetic hyperfine fieldsH hf=±362.4(5.0) and ±596(18) kG for the Co and Fe hosts, respectively, were deduced These fields fit nicely into the systematics of the hyperfine fields for the 5d transition elements but are not well accounted by the existing theoretical models.  相似文献

The time-differential perturbed angular correlation (TDPAC) experiments involving the 133–482 keV γ-γ cascade in181Ta have been performed in the presence of an external magnetic field along the quantization axis to measure the hyperfine magnetic field experienced by181Ta nuclei at the Hf site in the pseudobinary compounds HfFe2?xSix with x=0.1 and x=0.3. The hyperfine magnetic fields measured at 298 K are Hhf=133.1±12.0 kG in the cubic (C15) Laves phase compound HfFe1.9Si0.1 and Hhf=76.8±7.0 kG in the hexagonal (C14) Laves phase compound HfFe1.7Si0.3. The measured hyperfine fields are discussed within the framework of the Campbell-Blandin model.  相似文献

Magnetic hyperfine field (mhf) acting on 181Ta at the Ti site has been investigated in the alloy Pd2TiSn by Perturbed Angular Correlation (PAC) measurements using the (133–482) keV – cascade in 181Ta following the decay of 181Hf. The magnetic hyperfine field was measured as a function of temperature in the range of 45–1000K. The magnetization measurements were carried out with a vibrating sample magnetometer. The interpretation of the experimental results is based on the assumption that the probe nuclei occupy both the regular Ti sites as well as the Ti atom sites randomly distributed on the Pd sublattice.  相似文献

Ferromagnetic Laves phase compounds Zr(Fe1-xCox)2 have been investigated by means of the Mössbauer effect (57Fe) and by the time-dependent perturbed angular correlation of \gamma -rays (181Ta) technique. It has been concluded from ME experiments that by exchange of Fe by Co in the nearest neighbour shell of the nuclear probe the hyperfine magnetic field acting on 57Fe decreases by 10--12 kG. The analysis of the TDPAC experiments revealed that two different hyperfine magnetic fields: B1 hf(Ta)~ 61 kG and B2 hf(Ta)~ 88 kG act on the 181Ta nuclei. Both have a negative sign.  相似文献
