Mesoporous alumina films with large‐sized cage‐type mesopores were prepared by using commercially available diblock copolymer (PS‐b‐PEO) and economic inorganic salt (AlCl3) as aluminum source. The obtained mesopore sizes drastically expand from 35 nm to 80 nm when the amount of ethanol in the precursor solutions were controlled. More interestingly, under an optimized amount of ethanol as co‐solvent, there was no significant change of micelle morphology on the substrate, even though the relative amount of PS‐b‐PEO to alumina source was dramatically varied. When the amount of alumina precursor was decreased, the pore walls gradually became thinner, thereby improving pore connectivity. The ordered mesoporous alumina films obtained in this study exhibit high thermal stability up to 1000 °C, and their frameworks are successfully crystallized to γ‐alumina phase. This technique could also be applicable for creating other metal oxide thin films with large mesopores.  相似文献

Using sequential RAFT polymerization, single monomer insertion, and “click” chemistry, a series of triblock copolymers, poly(ethylene oxide)‐b‐polystyrene‐b‐poly(ethylene oxide), PEO‐b‐PS‐b‐PEO, were synthesized, where one of the two junction points is a UV cleavable ortho‐nitrobenzyl (ONB). Ordered patterns of PEO‐b‐PS‐b‐PEO were produced by solvent vapor annealing. Upon exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light, the PEO‐b‐PS‐b‐PEO was converted into a mixture of a PEO homopolymer and a PS‐b‐PEO diblock copolymer. It was found that the microdomain spacing could be tuned by adjusting the UV exposure time, due to the change in the copolymer architecture and the swelling of the PEO microdomain by the PEO homopolymer produced. By selective area exposure of the PEO‐b‐PS‐b‐PEO thin films, the domain spacing was changed over selected locations across the film, generating patterns of different microdomain sizes. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Ionic conductivity in relation to the morphology of lithium‐doped high‐molecular‐weight polystyrene‐block‐polyethylene oxide (PS‐b‐PEO) diblock copolymer films was investigated as solid‐state membranes for lithium‐ion batteries. The tendency of the polyethylene (PEO) block to crystallize was highly suppressed by increasing both the salt‐doping level and the temperature. The PEO crystallites completely vanished at a salt‐doping ratio of Li/EO>0.08, at which the PEO segments were hindered from entering the crystalline unit of the PEO chain. A kinetically trapped lamella morphology of PS‐b‐PEO was observed, due to PEO crystallization. The increase in the lamella spacing with increasing salt concentration was attributed to the conformation of the PEO chain rather than the volume contribution of the salt or the previously reported increase in the effective interaction parameter. Upon loading the salt, the PEO chains changed from a compact/highly folded conformation to an amorphous/expanded‐like conformation. The ionic conductivity was enhanced by amorphization of PEO and thereby the mobility of the PEO blocks increased upon increasing the salt‐doping level.  相似文献

Mixed micelles of polystyrene‐b‐poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PS‐b‐PNIPAM) and two polystyrene‐b‐poly(ethylene oxide) diblock copolymers (PS‐b‐PEO) with different chain lengths of polystyrene in aqueous solution were prepared by adding the tetrahydrofuran solutions dropwise into an excess of water. The formation and stabilization of the resultant mixed micelles were characterized by using a combination of static and dynamic light scattering. Increasing the initial concentration of PS‐b‐PEO in THF led to a decrease in the size and the weight average molar mass (〈Mw〉) of the mixed micelles when the initial concentration of PS‐b‐ PNIPAM was kept as 1 × 10?3 g/mL. The PS‐b‐PEO with shorter PS block has a more pronounced effect on the change of the size and 〈Mw〉 than that with longer PS block. The number of PS‐b‐PNIPAM in each mixed micelle decreased with the addition of PS‐b‐PEO. The average hydrodynamic radius 〈Rh〉 and average radius of gyration 〈Rg〉 of pure PS‐b‐PNIPAM and mixed micelles gradually decreased with the increase in the temperature. Both the pure micelles and mixed micelles were stable in the temperature range of 18 °C–39 °C. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part B: Polym Phys 48: 1168–1174, 2010  相似文献

With anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) membranes as wetting templates, nanotubes of the cylinder‐forming polystyrene‐block‐poly(ethylene oxide) (PS‐b‐PEO) copolymer were generated. The PS‐b‐PEO solution was introduced into the cylindrical nanopores of an AAO membrane by capillary force and polymeric nanotubes formed after solvent evaporation. Because of the water solubility of the cylindrical PEO microdomains and the orientation of the cylindrical PEO microdomains with respect to the nanotube walls, the nanotubes were permeable to aqueous media. PS‐b‐PEO nanotubes were also prepared on the interior walls of amorphous carbon nanotubes (a‐CNTs). Because of the unique water permeability of the PEO microdomains, an avenue for functionalizing the interior of the a‐CNTs is enabled. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The amphiphilic cyclic poly(ethylene oxide)‐block‐polystyrene [c‐(PEO‐b‐PS)] was synthesized by cyclization of propargyl‐telechelic poly(ethylene oxide)‐block‐polystyrene‐block‐poly(ethylene oxide) (?? PEO‐b‐PS‐b‐PEO? ?) via the Glaser coupling. The hydroxyl‐telechelic ABA triblock PEO‐b‐PS‐b‐PEO was first prepared by successive living anionic polymerization of styrene and ring‐opening polymerization of ethylene oxide, and then the hydroxyl ends were reacted with propargyl bromide to obtain linear precursors with propargyl terminals. Finally, the intramolecular cyclization was conducted in pyridine under high dilution by Glaser coupling of propargyl ends in the presence of CuBr under ambient temperature, and the c‐(PEO‐b‐PS) was directly obtained by precipitation in petroleum ether with high efficiency. The cyclic products and their corresponding linear precursor ?? PEO‐b‐PS‐b‐PEO? ? were characterized by means of GPC, 1H NMR, and FTIR. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The tadpole‐shaped copolymers polystyrene (PS)‐b‐[cyclic poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO)] [PS‐b‐(c‐PEO)] contained linear tail chains of PS and cyclic head chains of PEO were synthesized by combination of Glaser coupling with living anionic polymerization (LAP) and ring‐opening polymerization (ROP). First, the functionalized polystyrene‐glycerol (PS‐Gly) with two active hydroxyl groups at ω end was synthesized by LAP of St and the subsequent capping with 1‐ethoxyethyl glycidyl ether and then deprotection of protected hydroxyl group in acid condition. Then, using PS‐Gly as macroinitiator, the ROP of EO was performed using diphenylmethylpotassium as cocatalyst for AB2 star‐shaped copolymers PS‐b‐(PEO‐OH)2, and the alkyne group was introduced onto PEO arm end for PS‐b‐(PEO‐Alkyne)2. Finally, the intramolecular cyclization was performed by Glaser coupling reaction in pyridine/Cu(I)Br/N,N,N′,N″,N″‐pentamethyldiethylenetriamine system under room temperature, and tadpole‐shaped PS‐b‐(c‐PEO) was formed. The target copolymers and their intermediates were well characterized by size‐exclusion chromatography, proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy in details. The thermal properties was also determined and compared to investigate the influence of architecture on properties. The results showed that tadpole‐shaped copolymers had lower Tm, Tc, and Xc than that of their precursors of AB2 star‐shaped copolymers. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of well‐defined ABC 3‐Miktoarm star‐shaped terpolymers [Poly(styrene)‐Poly(ethylene oxide)‐Poly(ε‐caprolactone)](PS‐PEO‐PCL) with different molecular weight was synthesized by combination of the “living” anionic polymerization with the ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) using macro‐initiator strategy. Firstly, the “living” poly(styryl)lithium (PS?Li+) species were capped by 1‐ethoxyethyl glycidyl ether(EEGE) quantitatively and the PS‐EEGE with an active and an ethoxyethyl‐protected hydroxyl group at the same end was obtained. Then, using PS‐EEGE and diphenylmethylpotassium (DPMK) as coinitiator, the diblock copolymers of (PS‐b‐PEO)p with the ethoxyethyl‐protected hydroxyl group at the junction point were achieved by the ROP of EO and the subsequent termination with bromoethane. The diblock copolymers of (PS‐b‐PEO)d with the active hydroxyl group at the junction point were recovered via the cleavage of ethoxyethyl group on (PS‐b‐PEO)p by acidolysis and saponification successively. Finally, the copolymers (PS‐b‐PEO)d served as the macro‐initiator for ROP of ε‐CL in the presence of tin(II)‐bis(2‐ethylhexanoate)(Sn(Oct)2) and the star(PS‐PEO‐PCL) terpolymers were obtained. The target terpolymers and the intermediates were well characterized by 1H‐NMR, MALDI‐TOF MS, FTIR, and SEC. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The thermodynamic properties of triblock copolymer of polystyrene–poly (ethylene oxide)–polystyrene (PS‐b‐PEO‐b‐PS) were investigated by means of inverse gas chromatography (IGC) using 15 different kinds of solvents as the probes. Some thermodynamic parameters, such as specific retention volume, molar heats of sorption, weight fraction activity coefficient, Flory‐Huggins interaction parameter, partial molar heats of mixing and solubility parameter were obtained to judge the interactions between PS‐b‐PEO‐b‐PS polymers and solvents and the solubility of the polymers in these solvents. It was found that increasing PEO content in PS‐b‐PEO‐b‐PS resulted in the increase in the solubility of PS‐b‐PEO‐b‐PS in alkanes and acetates solvents, but the solubility in alcohols had no change, and more PEO content in polymer caused a small decrease in the solubility parameter of PS‐b‐PEO‐b‐PS polymer, © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A novel method for preparation the comb‐like copolymers with amphihilic poly(ethylene oxide)‐block‐poly(styrene) (PEO‐b‐PS) graft chains by “graft from” and “graft onto” strategies were reported. The ring‐opening copolymerization of ethylene oxide (EO) and ethoxyethyl glycidyl ether (EEGE) was carried out first using α‐methoxyl‐ω‐hydroxyl‐poly(ethylene oxide) (mPEO) and diphenylmethyl potassium (DPMK) as coinitiation system, then the EEGE units on resulting linear copolymer mPEO‐b‐Poly(EO‐co‐EEGE) were hydrolyzed and the recovered hydroxyl groups were reacted with 2‐bromoisobutyryl bromide. The obtained macroinitiator mPEO‐b‐Poly(EO‐co‐BiBGE) can initiate the polymerization of styrene by ATRP via the “Graft from” strategy, and the comb‐like copolymers mPEO‐b‐[Poly(EO‐co‐Gly)‐g‐PS] were obtained. Afterwards, the TEMPO‐PEO was prepared by ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) of EO initiated by 4‐hydroxyl‐2,2,6,6‐tetramethyl piperdinyl‐oxy (HTEMPO) and DPMK, and then coupled with mPEO‐b‐[Poly(EO‐co‐Gly)‐g‐PS] by atom transfer nitroxide radical coupling reaction in the presence of cuprous bromide (CuBr)/N,N,N′,N″,N″‐pentamethyldiethylenetriamine (PMDETA) via “Graft onto” method. The comb‐like block copolymers mPEO‐b‐[Poly(EO‐co‐Gly)‐g‐(PS‐b‐PEO)] were obtained with high efficiency (≥90%). The final product and intermediates were characterized in detail. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 47: 1930–1938, 2009  相似文献

Large‐sized (ca. 40 nm) mesoporous Er2O3 thin films are synthesized by using a triblock copolymer poly(styrene‐b‐2‐vinyl pyridine‐b‐ethylene oxide) (PS‐b‐P2VP‐b‐PEO) as a pore directing agent. Each block makes different contributions and the molar ratio of PVP/Er3+ is crucial to guide the resultant mesoporous structure. An easy and general method is proposed and used to prepare a series of mesoporous rare‐earth oxide (Sm2O3, Dy2O3, Tb2O3, Ho2O3, Yb2O3, and Lu2O3) thin films with potential uses in electronics and optical devices.  相似文献

A new dual soft‐template system comprising the asymmetric triblock copolymer poly(styrene‐b‐2‐vinyl pyridine‐b‐ethylene oxide) (PS‐b‐P2VP‐b‐PEO) and the cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) is used to synthesize hollow mesoporous silica (HMS) nanoparticles with a center void of around 17 nm. The stable PS‐b‐P2VP‐b‐PEO polymeric micelle serves as a template to form the hollow interior, while the CTAB surfactant serves as a template to form mesopores in the shells. The P2VP blocks on the polymeric micelles can interact with positively charged CTA+ ions via negatively charged hydrolyzed silica species. Thus, dual soft‐templates clearly have different roles for the preparation of the HMS nanoparticles. Interestingly, the thicknesses of the mesoporous shell are tunable by varying the amounts of TEOS and CTAB. This study provides new insight on the preparation of mesoporous materials based on colloidal chemistry.  相似文献

The design and synthesis of well‐defined polymethylene‐b‐polystyrene (PM‐b‐PS, Mn = 1.3 × 104–3.0 × 104 g/mol; Mw/Mn (GPC) = 1.08–1.18) diblock copolymers by the combination of living polymerization of ylides and atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) was successfully achieved. The 1H NMR spectrum and GPC traces of PM‐b‐PS indicated the successful extension of PS segment on the PM macroinitiator. The micellization behavior of such diblock copolymers in tetrahydrofuran were characterized by dynamic light scattering (DLS) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) techniques. The average aggregate sizes of PM‐b‐PS diblock copolymers with the same length of PM segment in tetrahydrofuran solution (1.0 mg mL?1) increases from 104.2 nm to 167.7 nm when the molecular weight of PS segment increases. The spherical precipitated aggregates of PM‐b‐PS diblock copolymers with an average diameter of 600 nm were observed by AFM. Honeycomb porous films with the average diameter of 3.0 μm and 6.0 μm, respectively, were successfully fabricated using the solution of PM‐b‐PS diblock copolymers in carbon disulfide via the breath‐figure (BF) method under a static humid condition. The cross‐sections of low density polyethylene (LDPE)/polystyrene (PS)/PM‐b‐PS and LDPE/polycarbonate (PC)/PM‐b‐PS blends were observed by scanning electron microscope and reveal that the PM‐b‐PS diblock copolymers are effective compatilizers for LDPE/PS and LDPE/PC blends. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We developed thin films of blends of polystyrene (PS) with the thermoresponsive polymer poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) (PS/PNIPAM) and its diblock copolymer polystyrene‐b‐poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PS/PS‐b‐PNIPAM) in different blend ratios, and we study their surface morphology and thermoresponsive wetting behavior. The blends of PS/PNIPAM and PS/PS‐b‐PNIPAM are spin‐casted on flat silicon surfaces with various drying conditions. The surface morphology of the films depends on the blend ratio and the drying conditions. The PS/PS‐b‐PNIPAM films do not show an increase in their water contact angles with temperature, as it is expected by the presence of the PNIPAM block. All PS/PNIPAM films show an increase in the water contact angle above the lower critical solution temperature of PNIPAM, which depends on the ratio of PNIPAM in the blend and is insensitive to the drying conditions of the films. The difference between the wetting behavior of PS/PS‐b‐PNIPAM and PS/PNIPAM films is due to the arrangement of the PNIPAM chains in the film. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Block copolymers with increased Flory–Huggins interaction parameters (χ) play an essential role in the production of sub‐10 nm nanopatterns in the growing field of directed self‐assembly for next generation lithographic applications. A library of PDMS‐b‐PEO block copolymers were synthesized by click chemistry and their interaction parameters (χ) determined. The highest χ measured in our samples was 0.21 at 150 °C, which resulted in phase‐separated domains with periods as small as 7.9 nm, suggesting that PDMS‐b‐PEO is a prime candidate for sub‐10 nm nanopatterning. To suppress PEO crystallization, PDMS‐b‐PEO was blended with (l )‐tartaric acid (LTA) which allows for tuning of the self‐assembled morphologies. Additionally, it was observed that the order‐disorder transition temperature (TODT) of PDMS‐b‐PEO increased dramatically as the amount of LTA in the blend increased, allowing for further control over self‐assembly. To understand the mechanism of this phenomenon, we present a novel field‐based supramolecular model, which describes the formation of copolymer‐additive complexes by reversible hydrogen bonding. The mean‐field phase separation behavior of the model was calculated using the random phase approximation (RPA). The RPA analysis reproduces behavior consistent with an increase of the effective χ in the PDMS‐b‐(PEO/LTA suprablock). © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Porous poly(methyl silsesquioxane) (PMSSQ) films were prepared from PMSSQ/amphiphilic block copolymer (ABC) hybrids, and this was followed by spin coating and multistep baking. The ABCs were poly(styrene‐block‐acrylic acid) (PS‐b‐PAA) and poly(styrene‐block‐3‐trimethoxysilylpropyl methacrylate) (PS‐b‐PMSMA), which were synthesized by living polymerization. The chemical bonding between the ABCs and PMSSQ resulted in significant differences in the morphologies and properties of the hybrids and their porous derivatives. Both intramolecular and intermolecular hydrogen bonding existed in the PMSSQ/PS‐b‐PAA hybrid and led to macrophase separation. Through the modification of the chemical structure from the poly(acrylic acid) segment to PMSMA, covalent bonding between PMSSQ and PMSMA occurred and prevented the macrophase separation and initial pyrolysis of the ABC. Modulated differential scanning calorimetry results also suggested a significant difference in the miscibility of the two hybrid systems. The chemical bonding resulted in higher retardation of the symmetry‐to‐nonsymmetry Si? O? Si structural transformation for PMSSQ/PS‐b‐PMSMA than for PMSSQ/PS‐b‐PAA according to Fourier transform infrared studies. The pore size of the nanoporous thin film from the PMSSQ/PS‐b‐PMSMA hybrid was estimated by transmission electron microscopy to be less than 15 nm. The refractive index and dielectric constant of the prepared porous films decreased from 1.354 to 1.226 and from 2.603 to 1.843 as the PS‐b‐PMSMA loading increased from 0 to 50 wt %, respectively. This study suggests that chemical bonding in hybrid materials plays a significant role in the preparation of low‐dielectric‐constant nanoporous films. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Characterization of block size in poly(ethylene oxide)‐b‐poly(styrene) (PEO‐b‐PS) block copolymers could be achieved by matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization time‐of‐flight mass spectrometry (MALDI‐TOF‐MS) after scission of the macromolecules into their constituent blocks. The performed hydrolytic cleavage was demonstrated to specifically occur on the targeted ester function in the junction group, yielding two homopolymers consisting of the constitutive initial blocks. This approach allows the use of well‐established MALDI protocols for a complete copolymer characterization while circumventing difficulties inherent to amphiphilic macromolecule ionization. Although the labile end‐group in PS homopolymer was modified by the MALDI process, PS block size could be determined from MS data since polymer chains were shown to remain intact during ionization. This methodology has been validated for a PEO‐b‐PS sample series, with two PEO of number average molecular weight (Mn) of 2000 and 5000 g mol?1 and Mn(PS) ranging from 4000 to 21,000 g mol?1. Weight average molecular weight (Mw), and thus polydispersity index, could also be reached for each segment and were consistent with values obtained by size exclusion chromatography. This approach is particularly valuable in the case of amphiphilic copolymers for which Mn values as determined by liquid state nuclear magnetic resonance might be affected by micelle formation. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. An amphiphilic multiblock copolymer [poly(ethylene oxide)‐b‐polystyrene]n [(PEO‐b‐PS)n] is synthesized by using trithiocarbonate‐embedded PEO as macro‐RAFT agent. PEO with four inserted trithiocarbonate (Mn = 9200 and Mw/Mn = 1.62) groups is prepared first by condensation of α, ω‐dihydroxyl poly(ethylene oxide) with S, S′‐Bis(α, α′‐dimethyl‐α″‐acetic acid)‐trithiocarbonate (BDATC) in the presence of pyridine, then a series of goal copolymers with different St units (varied from 25 to 218 per segment) are obtained by reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization. The synthesis process is monitored by size exclusion chromatography (SEC), 1H NMR and FT‐IR. The self‐assembled morphologies of the copolymers are strongly dependent of the length of PS block chains when the chain length of PEO is fixed, some new morphologies as large leaf‐like aggregates (LLAs), large octopus‐like aggregates (LOAs), and coarse‐grain like micelles (CGMs) are observed besides some familiar aggregates as large compound vesicles (LCVs), lamellae and rods, and the effect of water content on the morphologies is also discussed. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Well‐defined ABCD 4‐Miktoarm star‐shaped quarterpolymers of [poly(styrene)‐poly(tert‐butyl acrylate)‐poly(ethylene oxide)‐poly(isoprene)] [star(PS‐PtBA‐PEO‐PI)] were successfully synthesized by the combination of the “click” chemistry and multiple polymerization mechanism. First, the poly(styryl)lithium (PS?Li+) and the poly(isoprene)lithium (PI?Li+) were capped by ethoxyethyl glycidyl ether (EEGE) to form the PS and PI with both an active ω‐hydroxyl group and an ω′‐ethoxyethyl‐protected hydroxyl group, respectively. After these two hydroxyl groups were selectively modified to propargyl and 2‐bromoisobutyryl group for PS, the resulted PS was used as macroinitiator for ATRP of tBA monomer and the diblock copolymer PS‐b‐PtBA with a propargyl group at the junction point was achieved. Then, using the functionalized PI as macroinitiator for ROP of EO monomer and bromoethane as blocking agent, the diblock copolymer PI‐b‐PEO with a protected hydroxyl group at the conjunction point was synthesized. After the hydrolysis, the recovered hydroxyl group of PI‐b‐PEO was modified to bromoacetyl and then azide group successively. Finally, the “click” chemistry between them was proceeded smoothly. The obtained star‐shaped quarterpolymers and intermediates were characterized by 1H NMR, FT‐IR, and SEC in detail. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. H‐shaped ABCAB terpolymers composed of polystyrene (PS) (A), poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) (B), and poly(tert‐butyl acrylate) (PtBA) (C) were prepared by atom transfer radical coupling reaction using ABC star terpolymers as precursors, CuBr and N,N,N′,N″,N″‐pentamethyldiethylenetriamine (PMDETA) as catalysts, and nanosize copper as the reducing agent. The synthesis of 3‐miktoarm star terpolymer PS‐PEO‐(PtBA‐Br) involved following steps: (1) the preparation of PS with an active and an ethoxyethyl‐ptotected hydroxyl group at the same end; (2) the preparation of diblock copolymer PS‐b‐PEO with ethoxyethyl‐protected group at the junction point through the ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) of EO; (3) after de‐protection of ethoxyethyl group and further modification of hydroxyl group, tBA was polymerized by atom transfer radical polymerization using PS‐b‐PEO with 2‐bromoisobutyryl functional group as macroinitiator. The H‐shaped terpolymer could be successfully formed by atom transfer radical coupling reaction in the presence of small quantity of styrene, CuBr/PMDETA, and Cu at 90 °C. The copolymers were characterized by SEC, 1H NMR, and FTIR in detail. The optimized coupling temperature is 90 °C. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
