In this paper we analyze solutions of the n-scale functional equation Ф(x) = Σk∈ℤ Pk Ф(nx−k), where n≥2 is an integer, the coefficients {Pk} are nonnegative and Σpk = 1. We construct a sharp criterion for the existence of absolutely continuous solutions of bounded variation. This criterion implies several results concerning the problem of integrable solutions of n-scale refinement equations and the problem of absolutely continuity of distribution function of one random series. Further we obtain a complete classification of refinement equations with positive coefficients (in the case of finitely many terms) with respect to the existence of continuous or integrable compactly supported solutions.  相似文献

In wavelet representations, the magnitude of the wavelet coefficients depends on both the smoothness of the represented function f and on the wavelet. We investigate the extreme values of wavelet coefficients for the standard function spaces Ak=f| ∥fk)∥2 ≤ 1}, k∈N. In particular, we compare two important families of wavelets in this respect, the orthonormal Daubechies wavelets and the semiorthogonal spline wavelets. Deriving the precise asymptotic values in both cases, we show that the spline constants are considerably smaller. Statements connected with the so-called block-orthonormalized systems are given. The convergence and summability almost everywhere by the (c, 1) method with respect to such systems are considered. The aim of this paper is to prove an uncertainty principle for the representation of a vector in two bases. Our result extends previously known “qualitative” uncertainty principles into more quantitative estimates. In this paper, for each given $ we characterize the weights v for which the centered maximal function with respect to the gaussian measure and the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck maximal operator are well defined for every function in and their means converge almost everywhere. In doing so, we find that this condition is also necessary and sufficient for the existence of a weight u such that the operators are bounded from into We approach the poblem by proving some vector valued inequalities. A system using an oversampled Fourier transform for hiding data is given in [J.R. Miotke, L. Rebollo-Neira, Oversampling of Fourier coefficients for hiding messages, Appl. Comput. Harmon. Anal. 16 (2004) 203-207]. When viewed as a cryptographic algorithm, we demonstrate here that the system is susceptible to a known plaintext attack.  相似文献

We prove a representation of the partial autocorrelation function (PACF) of a stationary process, or of the Verblunsky coefficients of its normalized spectral measure, in terms of the Fourier coefficients of the phase function. It is not of fractional form, whence simpler than the existing one obtained by the second author. We apply it to show a general estimate on the Verblunsky coefficients for short-memory processes as well as the precise asymptotic behavior, with remainder term, of those for FARIMA processes.  相似文献

We consider expansions with respect to the multi-dimensional Hermite functions which are eigenfunctions of the harmonic oscillator L=−Δ+|x|2. For the heat-diffusion and Poisson semigroups corresponding to a self-adjoint extension of L we investigate their boundary behaviour and mapping properties. All this is done for functions from Lp(w), 1?p<∞, wAp. Then Riesz transforms and conjugate Poisson integrals are considered. The Riesz transforms occur to be Calderón-Zygmund operators hence their mapping properties follow by using results from a general theory.  相似文献

We estimate the number of Fourier coefficients that determine a Hilbert modular cusp form of arbitrary weight and level. The method is spectral (Rayleigh quotient) and avoids the use of the maximum principle.

We provide a characterization and construction of general frame decompositions. We show that generating all duals for a given frame amounts to finding left inverses of an one-to-one mapping. A general parametric and algebraic formula for all duals is derived. An application of the theory to Weyl-Heisenberg (WH) frames is discussed. Besides the (usual) dual frame that preserves the translation and modulation structure, we construct a class of duals that attain such a structure. We also show constructively that there are duals to WH frames which are not the translation and modulation of a single function.  相似文献

We characterize the Borel measures μ   on RR for which the associated dyadic Hilbert transform, or its adjoint, is of weak-type (1,1)(1,1) and/or strong-type (p,p)(p,p) with respect to μ  . Surprisingly, the class of such measures is strictly bigger than the traditional class of dyadically doubling measures and strictly smaller than the whole Borel class. In higher dimensions, we provide a complete characterization of the weak-type (1,1)(1,1) for arbitrary Haar shift operators, cancellative or not, written in terms of two generalized Haar systems and these include the dyadic paraproducts. Our main tool is a new Calderón–Zygmund decomposition valid for arbitrary Borel measures which is of independent interest.  相似文献

With the help of Van der Corput lemmas, decay estimates are proven for Fourier transforms of mixed homogeneous hypersurface measures with densities that can be quite irregular. The primary results are local in nature, but can be extended to global theorems in an appropriate sense. The estimates are sharp for a certain range of indices in the theorems.  相似文献

In an earlier paper of the author's, partial differential equations with constant coefficients have been studied. Under a certain (restrictive) assumption upon the equation, those initial conditions were characterized for which the normalized formal solution of a corresponding Cauchy problem is k-summable. Here we treat the general situation and prove an analogous result, using multisummability instead of k-summability. The appropriate multisummability type is shown to depend upon the given PDE only, and can be determined from a corresponding Newton polygon.  相似文献

This article genralizes the fast Fourier transform algorithm to the computation of Fourier transforms on compact Lie groups. The basic technique uses factorization of group elements and Gel'fand-Tsetlin bases to simplify the computations, and may be extended to treat the computation of Fourier transforms of finitely supported distributions on the group. Similar transforms may be defined on homogeneous spaces; in that case we show how special function properties of spherical functions lead to more efficient algorithms. These results may all be viewed as generalizations of the fast Fourier transform algorithms on the circle, and of recent results about Fourier transforms on finite groups. Acknowledgements and Notes.
