It is well-known that differentiation of hypergeometric function multiplied by a certain power function yields another hypergeometric function with a different set of parameters. Such differentiation identities for hypergeometric functions have been used widely in various fields of applied mathematics and natural sciences. In this expository note, we provide a simple proof of the differentiation identities, which is based only on the definition of the coefficients for the power series expansion of the hypergeometric functions.  相似文献

In this paper we first discuss refinement of the Ramunujan asymptotic expansion for the classical hypergeometric functionsF(a,b;c;x), c ≤a + b, near the singularityx = 1. Further, we obtain monotonous properties of the quotient of two hypergeometric functions and inequalities for certain combinations of them. Finally, we also solve an open problem of finding conditions ona, b > 0 such that 2F(−a,b;a +b;r 2) < (2−r 2)F(a,b;a +b;r 2) holds for all r∈(0,1).  相似文献

In this paper, the order of convexity of z2F1(a,b;c;z) is given under certain conditions on the positive real parameters a, b and c. We show also that the image domains of the unit disc D under some shifted zero-balanced hypergeometric functions z2F1(a,b;a+b;z) are convex and bounded by two horizontal lines. This solves a problem raised by Ponnusamy and Vuorinen in [10].  相似文献

In this paper, we prove some generalisations of several theorems given in [K.A. Driver, S.J. Johnston, An integral representation of some hypergeometric functions, Electron. Trans. Numer. Anal. 25 (2006) 115-120] and examine some special cases which correspond to a transformation given by Chaundy in [T.W. Chaundy, An extension of hypergeometric functions, I., Quart. J. Maths. With the help of some techniques based upon certain inverse pairs of symbolic operators, the authors investigate several decomposition formulas associated with Srivastava's hypergeometric functions HA, HB and HC in three variables. Many operator identities involving these pairs of symbolic operators are first constructed for this purpose. By means of these operator identities, as many as 15 decomposition formulas are then found, which express the aforementioned triple hypergeometric functions in terms of such simpler functions as the products of the Gauss and Appell hypergeometric functions. In this paper an attempt has been made to give a very simple method of extending certain results of Ramanujan, Evans and Stanton on obtaining the asymptotic behaviour of a class of zero-balanced hypergeometric series. A more recent result of Saigo and Srivastava has also been used to obtain a Ramanujan type of result for a partial sum of a zero-balanced4F3 (1) and similar other partial series of higher order.  相似文献

We present a conspicuous number of indefinite integrals involving Heun functions and their products obtained by means of the Lagrangian formulation of a general homogeneous linear ordinary differential equation. As a by-product we also derive new indefinite integrals involving the Gauss hypergeometric function and products of hypergeometric functions with elliptic functions of the first kind. A problem of determining zeroes of the Gauss hypergeometric function goes back to Klein, Hurwitz, and Van Vleck. In this very short note we show how ratios of hypergeometric functions arise as m-functions of Jacobi matrices and we then revisit the problem based on the recent developments of the spectral theory of non-Hermitian Jacobi matrices.  相似文献

We deal with a class of integral transformations whose kernels contain the Clausenian hypergeometric function 3F2(a1,a2,a3;b1,b2;z). These transforms are defined in terms of integrals with respect to their parameters. It involves as particular cases the familiar Olevskii and generalized Mehler–Fock transforms which are key tools in the methods of the mathematical theory of elasticity. The main theorem of boundedness of these operators as a map of L2(?+)L2(?+;x?1 dx) is proved. Some examples of the Olevskii and Mehler–Fock type integrals are given. We derive summation formulas for generalized hypergeometric series of unit argument, one of which upon specialization reduces to Minton’s summation theorem.
